"Dude, you're straight up the fucking Terminator!" Cherri exclaimed with a grin as she and the others watched the Marine be rebuilt.
There...was...so much that needed to be processed. Yet, to do so without breaking one's mind, they'd need to take it slow. Breathe. Think. Control your emotions. Maintain your composure.
When Doomguy and the Marine appeared, everyone focused on them. Logically, they should have some answers. However, they also noticed that the Marine was missing his lower half. But before anyone could start freaking out, he raised his head and waved at them, showing he was perfectly fine. Fucking. How?
Thankfully, this particular mystery would be solved quickly. The Maykrs attending to their Mother rushed to the wounded man's side. They then requested Vega to open a portal to Urdak, to which he complied. With that accomplished, they hoisted the man into their arms.
The Maykrs, as they were transporting the Marine, invited the others to come with them. They would happily explain this as they fixed him. Of course, everyone present accepted the invitation. As the group traveled to the closest workshop, they revealed how the Wretch kept the Marine by his side despite being unable to reproduce the Praetor.
Remember, everything that happened was consensual. Both the Marine and the Maykrs would stand beside the Wretch and attest that he DID NOT do this against ANY of their wishes. With that established, the explanation: Knowing that age and his constant injuries would inevitably take their toll, the Marine agreed to the Wretch's plan for "immortality". The plan? Build a mechanical body that could house the soldier's soul.
Honestly, it wasn't anything complicated. Take the concept of a Revenant, a skeleton given animation through cybernetics and Arcane energy, and apply it to the Marine. The major differences were that he wasn't a puppet, he wasn't a rotting corpse, and he AGREED to this. They felt it was important to drive that point home in case there was ANY chance for doubt.
However, with this revelation, the others wondered something. Did Khan and Vega know about this? Regarding Khan, she had to. The Marine allowed her to see all of his memories. But did the AI somehow not? No, he did. But it wasn't his place to share such information about the Marine, who appreciated this greatly.
This also explained why the Marine's voice sounded strange to Samur. It was akin to a text-to-speech program that turned his thoughts into audible words. Maybe the Maykrs could figure out how to make it work with Doomguy and his suit? The others did suggest that same idea a long time ago.
"Which one?" Marine asked while turning his head to look at her. Now that the secret was out, he felt comfortable "speaking" to them. His voice had a nice synthetic quality to it. However, it most certainly did NOT sound human. It was far closer to how most would imagine a robot sounded.
"YOU'VE SEEN TERMINATOR?!" Cherri questioned excitedly, only to immediately realize something else. "WAIT, THERE'S A SEQUEL?!" She asked, now bouncing up and down. For the uninformed, Cherri Bomb died in the 1980s. The sequel the Marine referred to came out at the start of the 90s. Why didn't Cherri see it after she died? Weirdly enough, things from Earth aren't in Heaven or Hell unless replicated. That sucked pretty hard, to be honest.
"Ahem," Samuel sounded, having to be the one to keep the conversation on track. "Before we get distracted, we need to know a few things. In as much detail as you can provide, what happened when you and my associate went through the portal?" He inquired.
"Understood." Marine began, returning his head to a neutral position, which aimed his gaze at the ceiling. "Misson Report: Doomguy and I jumped into the rift. It was a trap. This entire invasion was a trap. To what end? Unknown. One objective was made clear. Our enemies needed intel. Two Hell Guards and the Cyberdemon. We fought, we won. It was orchestrated by...by..." He stuttered. It wasn't a malfunction with his body; he just couldn't believe the name that tried to leave his mind. "Malcolm Bertruger. Former lead researcher of Mars City. It was the equivalent of your operation." He concluded.
"What?!" The Maykrs gasped. Unintentionally, they dropped their tools due to their surprise.
"You know him?" Samuel asked. He and the others were intrigued by their reaction.
"That...thing is what sentenced the Marine's universe to death." One of the Maykrs answered as they recovered. "We don't dare call it a man. We wouldn't give it such respect. That cretin betrayed its people and assisted the Demons as much as it could. It was even transformed into a terrifying winged beast known as the Maledict. But the Marine defeated it. We assumed Doom, being the cruel entity it is, would imprison that thing for its failure and never use it again." They explained while they and their siblings gathered theor tools from the floor.
"Doesn't Doom hate free thinking? That led to Wretch, which also led to Mister Mute becoming a demigod. You'd think it wouldn't consider that an option ever again." Husk questioned, making a valid point.
"Although that is an accurate observation, you're overlooking something." Another Maykr replied as they returned to their work on the Marine's repairs. "Wretch, when created, was mentally an infant. Yes, Doom gave him the knowledge and intelligence he'd need to fulfill his duties, but it didn't teach him anything else. All he understood and knew was that he needed to build and learn of way to defeat us. However, Wretch's sentience finally started developing when he was presented with the endless array of cultures and species throughout Creation. He understood that what he was doing was wrong and felt turmoil as a result. A Demon born to be its master's tool of conquest rejected that destiny after learning the true nature of its actions. Then, there is THAT thing. That accursed soul. It was a seemingly normal person before being manipulated by Doom to serve its purpose. Yet, instead of feeling regret and remorse once Doom's intentions were shown, it REVELED in them. It sought to be turned into a Demon itself and aid in the death of its universe. It was always a monster. The only thing Doom did was allow it to become one fully." They told the others.
"Ah. So, he's legitimately a fucking sociopath, then?" Angel Dust inquired.
"That does not begin to describe it. I don't think there are enough words to convey the twisted mind inside its soul properly." The Maykr said with a palpable disgust and disdain. Their siblings nodded in agreement. Each of them had a scowl or an angered expression. Excluding Samur and his feelings toward the Wretch, this was the first time anyone in their group had seen this from the Maykrs.
"Even so, the man sounds intelligent," Olivia commented. "You said that he was in charge of Mars City?" She asked, speaking to the Marine.
"Affirmative. Comparably, he is as smart as Samuel." Marine answered.
"Great. Doom has a super genius on their side, too." Vagatha sighed.
"But! We have...a LOT more!" Nifty interjected. She did her best to count the numbers quickly and almost succeeded. Samuel. Samur. Khan. The Wretch. Vega. But by that point, she also needed to count the Maykrs. That's when her mind decided the response was taking too long. "Sure, Doom has one now. But we've got more brain power!" She added for emphasis.
"...Marine," Samuel spoke after considering something. "Is it possible that there could be more like Bertruger? Souls who are as devoted to Doom as he is." He inquired.
"Yes," Marine confirmed, shocking everyone. The sole exception was Doomguy, which made sense since he was there. "Bertruger mentioned peers. There are more. Who? Unknown. More souls? Unknown. New Demons? Possible. Investigation required." He stated.
"Oh, that's wonderful. Super-fucking-duper." Husk responded while folding his arms. "So, now Doom's got people, Demon or otherwise, who can strategize." He carried on, only to realize something. "...Wait...is...that why the Gore Nest died?" He asked, eyes widening.
"Yes," Marine confirmed again. "Bertruger told us that he would take care of the Gore Nest. This was not an invasion. A test. A probe. A means to an end." He told them.
"Fuck. They played us." Angel Dust said. "Is there anything else?" He inquired.
"The Hell Guards and Cyberdemon. They were upgraded. We killed the Hell Guards quickly, but they were better than they were originally. Doomguy can confirm. The Cyberdemon is who cut me in half. Strength improvement? Unsure. Speed? Absolutely. Overall power? Unsure. The fight could've gone longer if it hadn't swallowed one of the BFGs." Marine stated.
"Wait, it SWALLOWED one?" Cherri asked. "How the fuck did that happen?" She added.
"Doomguy. After cutting me in half, the Cyberdemon focused on him. It charged Doomguy, but he activated Invulnerability. He punched through its face, intending to fire the BFG inside the Demon. It threw him off before he could pull the trigger. Then, I provided my BFG. All it took was one shot. The Cyberdemon stood no chance." Marine answered.
"I bet he was pissed. He thought you were killed." Vagatha commented. In reply, Doomguy nodded. He thought his comrade, whom he had only begun to know during this past week, was dead. It didn't just piss him off; it made him fucking furious.
"I'm sorry." Marine apologized, now looking at the others again. "I should've shared the truth before now." He stated.
"Marine, it's not your fault." One of the Maykrs interjected while putting a hand on his shoulder. "It wasn't a decision you made alone. We and the Wretch agreed to keep this a secret until there was an appropriate moment to reveal it. Unfortunately, ignoring the invasion, everyone and everything was far too busy to take the time to explain this properly. There were far more important matters that needed undivided attention." They told him.
"Yeah! They're right!" Nifty agreed. "Besides, this was something personal! It didn't affect us or the situation. We're just glad you're okay and that getting cut in two isn't a big issue." She said.
"Thank you," Marine replied. Simultaneously, the Maykrs finished their repairs, allowing him to sit upright.
"Still, just so we're clear, there's nothing else, right?" Vagatha inquired.
"Affirmative. Nothing else. That was all." Marine assured while getting back on his feet.
"Then we should get moving. The others need to be informed, and there is now far more we must do." Samuel said.
"Aw, fuck. Sammy's right..." Angel Dust whined, throwing his head back. "We were just supposed to worry about the ceremony. But now Pentagram City's totally FUCKED. There's going to be SO much damn work..." He complained.
"About that." Olivia began as an idea formed in her mind. "Marine, just so I'm sure, you said this was a test, correct? That Bertruger and Doom wanted to gather information." She asked.
"Precisely," Marine answered.
"Okay. So, is it then possible that no one was taken?" Olivia started. "Yes, no one was returning during the invasion. But if the Gore Nest was being controlled from within Doom, which seems likely given what we know, could they have been stored within it rather than taken to the other side? Or, if not stored inside, merely prevented them from reviving to make the invasion seem all the more convincing?" She proposed.
"Although the chances are slim, Olivia's suggestion does have merit. Everything about this situation is new. All of our expectations and presumed understanding have been subverted. With the Gore Nest's death, the dead could be respawning in Hell." Samuel said, supporting her idea.
"All the more reason why we should hurry back," Vagatha responded, to which everyone nodded.
Thus, they did. The group hurried back to Hell from Urdak after contacting Vega again. The AI had gone silent when Doomguy and the Marine had returned. He needed to inform the Wretch and continue his assistance with the situation.
Summary
Heaven and Hell were in chaos once again. Of course, no one could blame them. Where to even begin? What's the most fitting place? Well, let's start with the recovery efforts.
After getting everyone up to speed, Khan re-took her position as the overseer of...well, everything. She'd address the people's concerns, outcries, and demands. She'd be the figure that all reported and listened to regardless of what realm they called home. Thankfully, it took VERY little time for the people to understand who and what Khan was. She was the Creator. She was, as most would say, the one true God.
Furthermore, Khan allowed anyone and everyone to connect to her soul. She would hold no secrets. She was as transparent as any entity could be. In little time, no one doubted or feared her. One of the few certainties the people had was that Khan was on their side. She cared about them. She only wanted to improve their lives and keep them safe from Doom.
Speaking of Doom, hoo, boy, that was a LOT to explain. Connecting to Khan's soul and receiving all her memories and knowledge of it helped. Even so, it was so much to come to terms with. Hell wasn't Hell. At least not in the way everyone had known it. It wasn't the evilest place in Creation. Its Demons and other Hellspawn were fragile dandelions compared to those in Doom. As stated many times before, it was purely evil. Nothing more, nothing less. The acceptance of such a thing was daunting. The awareness of an insatiable void that sought to consume everything was horrifying. The people were scared.
Yet, Khan wasn't the only shining beacon of hope for the masses to rally behind. The survivors of the invasion. The spectators in Heaven. Anyone whose ears had caught the whispers and rumors of a knight clad in green armor. Doomguy. The Slayer. He was on the fast track to become a hero. A crusader. An unshatterable shield that would protect them from the monsters.
Oh, and the Marine, too. Sadly, very few talked about him. Granted, this wasn't a surprise. His role during the invasion had been focused on information gathering and stealth. It was hard to be seen as a savior when you weren't saving people. At least not directly like Doomguy.
Fortunately, during the invasion's aftermath, everyone noticed how the Marine was always at Doomguy's side. They worked together. They helped people together. They assisted in the rebuilding efforts together. Thick as thieves. Inseparable like family. Although he was a mystery to the people, they immediately trusted him and would, in time, see him as they did Doomguy.
The Wretch. Sadly, the masses were conflicted about him. Yes, they saw Khan's memories. Additionally, she asserted that the Wretch was trustworthy and was now a member of her family. Unsurprisingly, the Maykrs expressed these sentiments as well. The Wretch was their ally. He wasn't a turncoat.
Despite passionate and honest support from the Creator and her children, the people couldn't dispel their worries, fears, and suspicions about the Wretch. Although frustrated and angry, those on the Wretch's side still understood why so many felt this way and had these thoughts. It was undeniable that Doom made him. On top of that, the Wretch had been the key to Doom's victory over Urdak. Overall, the Wretch was a complicated entity.
Presumably, Samur was overjoyed by seeing others think and feel the same about the Wretch as he did. However, no one heard him say anything about it. He mostly stayed in the Ivory Tower and contributed from there. With Khan revived and taking her rightful place as "God", he could fall into a more silent supporting role. Of course, his family, especially his children and Granddaughter, were getting concerned. But that was something that needed to wait until things were more peaceful.
The Happy Hotel was officially decreed as an embassy for Khan, the Maykrs, and Urdak. Simply put, it was now definitively their "Headquarters". All official matters would be handled here. On one hand, it was because that had been the plan this entire time. On the other, Khan wanted Charlie to be recognized for her efforts and her rehabilitation idea. More than ever, the Sinners wanted to stop being shitheads, to put it bluntly. No better place to do it than the Happy Hotel! Now officially endorsed by the Creator!
Regarding those within Khan's inner circle who lived at the hotel, such as members of her family, they fell back into their routines and responsibilities. Charlie and Vagatha were viewed as "Second-in-command" when compared to Khan. If she were busy with other things, which would happen a LOT moving forward, then they would be the ones to talk to and interact with. Lucifer and Lilith, with the Rings' rulers, would focus on Hell. Gabriel, Azrael, and Michael would return to Heaven and assist their siblings there.
Husk remained at the front desk. His duties would grow beyond giving people room keys and drinks, but the Hellcat didn't grumble or gripe. He might be old and grouchy, but he wasn't stupid. He wouldn't make things harder for the others by not doing his fair share.
In addition to her cleaning tasks, Nifty would now act as a messenger. Her speed allowed her to zoom throughout the hotel to help keep communication flawless. Also, she could run to other places in Pentagram City. During the recovery efforts, she was an invaluable in keeping everything running smoothly and ensuring everyone knew everything that was happening. Most of the time, many individuals could see a bright red streak zooming in every direction.
Alastor and Katie's roles were now among the most important. Sure, they always were. They were information experts. However, it wasn't just a matter of announcements and simple broadcasts. Regarding Alastor, he was Khan's voice. If she weren't available to speak herself, he'd recite official addresses from her to the masses. Even those who had televisions kept their radios on 24/7. If they didn't have one before, they did now.
As for Katie, she "ascended" to a higher status. Admittedly, that could be said about everyone in their group. Still, she was no longer the former face of channel six six six news. Nor was she viewed simply as the Happy Hotel's PR correspondent. Like Alastor, Katie was seen as an extension of Khan herself. She'd keep the public informed AND offer coverage of everything happening in Pentagram City. Truthfully, many inidividuals considered pushing Alastor and Katie's presence even further, but that was best saved for later, like so much else.
Angel Dust and Cherri showed remarkable initiative. Given their experience, they suggested they would be the best people to reach out to Hell's numerous gangs and syndicates, not just those in Pentagram City. This, in turn, caused a spark to ignite in Blitzo's brain. He had a legitimately good idea for the first time in his life.
Blitzo proposed the same thing as Angel Dust and Cherri. The only difference was that I.M.P. would handle the mercenaries, hired killers, Etc. Everyone agreed, and Khan even publically announced their association with her. Now, if there was ANYONE who would've had doubts about either group's sincerity, they would effectively be squashed.
The same treatment was given to the Goetia household. Their status in society was no longer simply Nobility. As the Magnes, their family, and the Rings' rulers served in governance positions, the Goetias were tasked with public relations. An important distinction: This was not the same as Alastor and Katie's responsibilities.
The Goetias would be acting on a far more personal level. Similar to when they were originally going to hold a gala, the Goetias would oversee and be involved with any public demonstrations, events, gatherings, and so forth involving Khan or anyone else in her inner circle. Lilith, once things were FAR more peaceful, would be included as well. But for now, this was left to the Goetias as she needed to be at Lucifer's side.
Yet, to the surprise of all who knew the Goetias and what they were like, the clan of Avian Demons didn't make a big deal of this. They didn't flaunt their new station. They didn't brag. They didn't try to act superior to those around them. They were still stuffy, sure. Maybe a bit prickly at times. But they were FAR more humble and approachable than ever.
Not only that, but the Goetias didn't seem to care about their new significance, which was different than trying to show it off. They barely acknowledged their higher status. They didn't try to make any conversations revolve around them. As odd as this might sound, they were very mature and professional. Quite a few Nobles and lesser Royals barely recognized them. That's how drastically their experience and involvement had changed them.
Samuel and Olivia, much like Samur, stayed relatively in the background. When requested, they made public appearances and spoke to the masses. However, with so much going on, now wasn't the time to put them "in the spotlight". Currently, they felt their time was better used by managing the Mars complex and their new facilities. They'd also assist the Wretch in whatever way they could, which he appreciated.
Vega was everywhere. Khan quickly introduced the AI to the people, and they were immensely curious about him. Unfortunately, he couldn't satiate their intrigue for now. He was essential to the recovery efforts. Destroying the Gore Nest and its tendrils. Cleaning up Demon corpses. If anything, his list of tasks ran the longest, but he didn't mind. He was more than happy to help.
...Oh, right, the Demons. That was still a lingering issue. All of them, every single one, had fled Pentagram City. Normally, it'd be up to Doomguy and the Marine to hunt them down. But since they departed in EVERY direction and there were SO many of them, Khan suggested an alternative solution.
While Doomguy and the Marine remained in Pentagram City and assisted with the recovery efforts, Heaven and its Angels would enter Hell and hunt the beasts. Naturally, the duo were extremely hesitant. They didn't doubt the capabilities of the Angels. It's just, as always, Doom was in a league of its own. Would it be the responsible thing to do to allow those who had never dealt with its horrors to handle them so suddenly?
This is when the leader of Heaven's elite, the "Exorcists", commonly referred to by Hell's populace as "Exterminators", appeared. Adam was his name. He vowed to Khan, Doomguy, and the Marine that his people would have no issues handling these scurrying pests. And, as an added peace of mind, Adam swore he'd report directly to Michael. He wouldn't make ANY decisions without getting his permission.
Now, some might be wondering the following questions: Why Michael? Why not Gabriel? Simple. Gabriel was still the Judge of Creation. That was one of the many things Khan conveyed to the people, alongside Azrael remaining the Angel of Death. So, all of the authority and responsibilities he carried remained unaffected. As you can imagine, amidst this crisis, he was SWAMPED. Adam chose Michael not to increase the Archangel's workload, which was very considerate.
After one of their usual silent deliberations, Doomguy and the Marine accepted the proposal. However, they had some conditions that needed to be met. The list of them was as follows:
1. If ANYTHING seemed odd, Adam and his Exorcists were to retreat IMMEDIATELY and have Michael contact them.
2. NO Exorcist would be allowed ANYTHING other than Divine weaponry. It would take a long time for additional weapons, armor, and equipment to be produced and delivered to anyone willing to fight. Furthermore, the Exorcists were to keep their distance as much as possible. Lastly, even if a Demon appears to be dead, destroy the corpse from several feet away. DO. NOT. ASSUME. IT. IS. SAFE.
3. Heaven would work alongside Hell. There was no debate or discussion to be had about this. The Demons were loose in Lucifer's domain. As such, the people who lived here, regardless of who or what they were, needed and deserved to be involved. Hell had no shortage of skilled killers, hunters, warriors, soldiers, Etc. Give them Divine weapons and coordinate with them. Personal grievances or issues meant nothing. Doom didn't care who it killed. Everyone was their enemy, which made everyone allies against it. In short, get with the program or stay out of the way.
Adam unhesitatingly agreed to these conditions. He also promised to obey and enforce any others the duo thought of later. With nothing else to say, Doomguy and the Marine gave their final approval and blessing. The hunt was officially on.
At last, this summary has reached its conclusion. Yet, there are a few lingering things to mention, aren't there? A perfect example was those slain by the Demons. Did they return once the Gore Nest was destroyed? Or did Doom still claim them?
No. To the amazement of everyone, Doom didn't claim a single soul. However, Doomguy, the Marine, the Wretch, and Khan quickly understood why. One of the many ways to describe Doom was an infection. There were physical examples, such as the Demons running amok. But there were also spiritual ones, too. Doom influenced people, even those they didn't seek to manipulate or possess. Fear. Paranoia. Irrational behavior. Insanity. These were among the many ways Doom could create cracks, leading to greater opportunities. Plus, there was the likelihood that the souls hadn't been claimed since the invasion wasn't real. Remember, this whole thing was a twisted test.
So, as time progressed, the victims of the slaughter returned. Families were reunited. Friends were found. Tears were shed. And a LOT of therapy would be needed. In conclusion, while still greatly concerning, the fact that this wasn't a serious attempt by Doom to invade this reality was a relief. It was also a wake-up call to everyone and a taste of things to come. Yet, whenever the next major encounter came, they'd be properly prepared for it.
...?...
Everything...hurt. Everything...was exhausted. A feeling of unbearable sickness and pain. What had happened? What was going on? Where was this?
Grunts and groans filled the air. Hearing and touch were the only senses working, albeit minimally. Even small movements made the sickness, exhaustion, and pain worse. Sadly, it couldn't be avoided. If answers were to be obtained, endurance would be tested.
Eventually, the ability to hear and feel was mostly returned after what felt like hours. Sight, smell, and taste were still not responding. Apart from the grunting and groaning, the only sounds that could be heard were mechanical and electronic. Regarding touch, the floor and air felt cold. It was...soothing. Comforting. It helped alleviate the suffering.
"Sir!" A voice exclaimed from nearby. It was slightly muffled as it needed to pass through something. A wall? A door? A barrier? "Stolas is waking up!" It informed someone else. It sounded female.
"I'm not surprised." Another voice was heard, followed by heavy footsteps. It sounded male. Although, it had an interesting effect. It resembled the electronic noises. "He's a Hellspawn, not a Sinner like the other three. I assumed he'd be quicker to recover." It stated.
"Even so, Doctor Hayden. Stolas's soul is in critical condition. The return of consciousness is a good sign. However, his path to full recovery will be as long and difficult as the others." A third voice. This one sounded entirely electrical. Yet, it also conveyed a male tone.
"What about memories? Will he suffer amnesia?" The woman inquired.
"We can't be sure. Despite all our research, we've never been able to study souls affected by Doom to this degree." The first man replied.
"Ah, right. Regarding the zombies and the possessed, they were inhabited by Lost Souls or animated through Arcane energy, right?" The woman asked.
"Precisely so, Olivia. As such, my partner never once obtained a soul via the Praetor during the Mars invasion. Concerning my former protege, even if her soul was in the Spider Mastermind, the battle took place in Doom, so there was no chance of claiming it. Of course, long before then, she had given herself to them." The first man answered.
"It's fortunate then that this invasion wasn't real, Doctor Hayden. Otherwise, Doom may have tried to do the same thing to these four." The second man said.
"A valid point. Yet, there are still so many factors we need to investigate. With Hell and Doom sharing so many properties, can Doom connect to the realm without breaking through the barriers? Are the Demons in this reality more susceptible to its influence even if they don't fit the criteria? We'll need to use these four as a basis for a new avenue of research." The first man responded.
"Do we have consent? From the Goetias, I mean." The woman inquired.
"Paimon and Stella were enthusiastic about Stolas's use as a guinea pig. Their words, not mine. It took a while for them to say that since they were nearly frothing at the mouth once they learned what had happened. Truthfully, I can't blame them. Many of the others are the same. It's hard not to feel anger or disappointment toward his actions." The first man stated.
"What about his Daughter? Does she want to see him? Have updates on his condition?" The woman pressed.
"No. That's all she told me. But, from the look in her eyes and the tone of her voice, nothing else needed to be said. She was as furious as her Mother and Grandfather, but there was also a great deal of sadness and pain. She'll likely distance herself from everyone. The poor girl needs time to work through her emotions." The first man informed her.
"I can only imagine. That poor girl." The woman said.
"I wouldn't worry too much. After all, she's formed a bond with a certain mute. At least, I assume as much since she took his side when the Wretch was revealed." The first man replied.
"True. Although unfortunate, Doomgy will be the best to console her and many others during this time. The same goes for the Marine." The woman agreed.
"That they are." The first man replied, followed by those heavy footsteps from earlier. "Vega, increase the dosage of Argent all four are receiving. It'll ensure they remain unconscious during their recovery. The least we can do is provide them with a peaceful slumber." He ordered.
"Right away, Doctor Hayden." The second man responded.
"That's very kind of you, sir." The woman told him as a new set of footsteps were heard. "Especially with the other three, given their past with Angel." She added.
"That is none of my business. Angel will be the one who ultimately decides..."
Everything went quiet. The air got colder. Consciousness faded away. A peaceful slumber, just as the man promised.
