Author's Note: Sorry…It's been a while. Thank you for all your support and patience :,)
Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail.
Hi everyone, I'm sorry if you found the first chapter rather boring and I'm extremely sorry for the great delay (and I'm also sorry if you find me annoying for apologizing so very much #Aries). I am busy, but I don't want to give stress by ranting on about it. The plot thickens slightly since there will be some new characters that will join Fairy Tail. I'm sorry if you hate the OC's I made (OnO) but it can't just be Romeo and Wendy [and Carla] all the way...plus, it would be good to add some OC's that are around their age to the guild since Romeo and Wendy are rather isolated in their age group. Plus the OC's backstories and other info contribute to creating some of these arcs I will also use background info from existing characters to create arcs and chapters.
Brace yourselves, we get straight into the action at the start of this chapter.
Chapter 2- Encounter
"Red Carpet!" Romeo was instantly speeding through the air on a crimson fireball into the harbor of Hargeon Town. His orange scarf, crimson vest, white sash, and green pants ruffled in the air as he accelerated.
"Romeo-san wait up!" Wendy pouted, not too far behind Romeo. Carla was carrying Wendy using her Aera. She wore a long-sleeved buttoned white blouse, a navy blue skirt, black knee socks, and black sneakers to go with them. Her hair was down.
"Sorry Wendy, but I won't let these crooks escape," he yelled before speeding down towards the docks where two figures were seen suspiciously pushing through people on the cobblestone pathway that branched into docks, trying to toward the ship, they were trying to board onto.
"He's got a point you know..." Carla said to a pouty Wendy, then she sped up after Romeo.
It's been about a week since Romeo and Wendy formed a team. Missions were going smoothly as usual over the past week (or so we think). Today, they took a job to snatch back the money from some crooks who had robbed a bank in Oshibana Town a few days ago. Thanks to some information from the head of the bank and Wendy's Dragon Slayer senses, they were able to track down the robbers to Hargeon Town, trying to board a ship to Bosco. The ship that would depart to Bosco would depart in twenty minutes and the robbers were getting somewhat closer to the decreasing line of passengers who would board that very ship. The two mages felt that if they didn't act quickly, their targets would evade being arrested along with the money they stole.
Romeo closed in on the two robbers from above and scanned them. One robber was skinny. He wore a grey trench coat, green jeans, and black, leather boots. In his right arm was a black, leather briefcase. The other robber was taller than the first robber by about one foot and was as burly as Laxus. He wore a navy blue turtleneck, black wool gloves, grey jeans, and black leather boots. This robber held a black gym bag over his left shoulder with his left arm. He carried a gun in his right arm. The skinny robber wore a checked, grey fedora, a little strand of chartreuse poked out the front of the fedora. The burly robber had his black hair in a crew-cut.
"I can't just go straight for a sneak attack from above...or can I?" Romeo was trying to devise a strategy in his mind, however, it wasn't that simple given that he had tried not to lose sight of the crooks in their little game of Grand Theft $Mula$. But one thing that he didn't realize was that he and Wendy were making quite a scene flying over the people on the docks. Adults and children on the docks looked up in awe at "that guy who was surfing in the air on a fireball" or "that girl who was being carried by a flying cat".
"Um...Romeo-san?" Wendy asked politely next to a Romeo who was focusing on the criminals.
"What is it, Wendy?" Romeo asked in response.
"I don't think we should have tried to seek them from above..."
"How so? If we searched from ground level, then the crooks would have more likely left before we could even find them."
"The people below us can see us from above. And so can they..."
Romeo's eyes widened before he could say something, a loud boom was heard from the docks. Within a split second, a bullet grazed Romeo's right cheek.
"Romeo-san!"
"I'm fine. I just moved a little too late."
At the docks, people were scrambling away from the two robbers since they noticed one of them had a gun pointed towards the sky. The burly guy with the gun cursed, "Dammit, I missed by less than a centimeter. But, next time, I'll certainly hit 'em."
The skinny robber facepalmed. "Ed this is not the time to make a scene. We need to board the ship to Bosco with the loot before it leaves without us."
"Might be a little too late for that..." The conversation between the two robbers came to a stop when Romeo, Wendy, and Carla landed on the cobblestone road by the docks many yards in front of the two robbers.
"It wouldn't be very fun if we made an easy escape in the first place...Shaw" Ed sighed at his fellow partner in crime, Shaw, then he pointed his gun at Romeo with a devilish glare on his face, "but don't think that just because you're a wizard you can stop us!" A glowing green magic circle appeared in front of Ed's handgun. "Icicle Fusillade!" Once the trigger was pressed, a volley of icicles was rapidly fired at the three Fairy Tail mages. "Sky Dragon's Roar!" Wendy countered with her signature Dragon's Roar, which shattered the barrage of icicles and prevailed towards the two crooks. Ed cursed under his breath before jerking to the side, along with Shaw, to avoid Wendy's attack. "Purple Net!" Romeo conjured a ball of purple flames which expanded into a wide, purple-flamed net towards the two crooks. Shaw smirked, "A fire mage...tsk."
Shaw set his right hand on fire and swiped it at the purple net of flames, breaking the net, and thus scattering small purple flames. Romeo's eyes widened in surprise, "Crap! How was I supposed to know he was a Fire Mage?"
Shaw then put extended his free out in front of him, "Eat this, you little shits!" A fire magic circle appeared in the font of his arms. "Fireball!" From the fire magic circle, a large fireball was rapidly formed and hurled towards the three Fairy Tail mages. Romeo then countered with his cold blue flames, he set both of his hands sideways, ablaze, with his two palms parallel to one another. "Blue Vortex!" The young Fire mage extended his arms forward, sending a spiral of cold, blue flames towards the large fireball. The two attacks collided, but Romeo's blue flames overcame the hot fireball and reached Shaw. Before Shaw got hit, he set his free arm on fire to try to shield himself, unfortunately, his hot flames wouldn't last for long. "Aggghh..." Shaw clenched his teeth in pain as he felt the cold of Romeo's blue flames on his left hand.
During the time Shaw's and Romeo's attacks collided, Ed took the opportunity to try to escape. He never really liked Shaw in the first place since he was always nagging and annoying him when they committed crimes together. He always hated how Shaw used to call him 'all brawn and no brains. But, because of his 'brawn'-ness, he was the one who had to carry more money out of the two during their heist. He dashed the ship that would leave for Bosco. He was nearly there when this flying, white cat got in his way.
"And where do you think you're going? Surely we haven't forgotten that there are two of you brutes..." Carla was using her Aera magic to stay at face level with Ed.
"What the frick! That cat talks!?" He pointed his handgun at the flying cat. "Listen kitty...I do not want to shoot you, so just be a good little kitty and get your nose in some rat's nest or something..."
Carla took this in offense given that she was such a dignified member of the Exceed species (not some rat-hunting feline). "Why would I, a member of Fairy Tail, stick my nose in a rat's nest when there are lowly, up-to-no-good thugs like you committing crimes?"
When the cat said it was a member of the strongest guild, Ed couldn't prevent himself from laughing, "Really, a cat-like yourself...in the strongest guild in the continent? Look, I have no time for your jokes cat. Let me get aboard my ship," he then clutched his gun," or we'll have to do things the hard way."
Carla smirked, "Try me!"
"Oh-ho-ho-ho! You wanna go kitty?!" the brute pointed his handgun at Carla, "Listen I didn't want to kill anyone, but you leave me with no choice-"Sky Dragon's Claw!"
Wendy arrived right on cue, delivering a sneaky, but powerful kick to Ed's groin. Ed staggered back in pain. "Sorry, Carla for arriving so late." Wendy cocked her head innocently at Carla.
The white-furred Exceed humphed and crossed her arms over her chest. "I was fine. But, since you're here, you should take care of that brute."
"Understood." Wendy nodded with a grin on her cute face. She then dashed towards her opponent and raised her hand which was imbued with the wind. "Sky Dragon's Crushing Fang!" She aimed to swipe the arm Ed was using to hold the gym bag containing the majority of the bank money but the crook moved his arm to the side and stepped back. "Feisty one are ya?" Ed teased as he turned and dodged Wendy's continuous swipes, "How about we make this a little more...interesting..."
After evading another swipe from Wendy, Ed took a huge jump back and pointed his gun at Wendy. "Blast Bullet!" He pressed the trigger about five times and immediately after each time the trigger was pressed, a bullet imbued with magic was fired at Wendy. Given that she couldn't dodge in time, Wendy struck the bullets with her magic to defend. "Sky Dragon's Claw!"
Her eyes widened at what came next. "Fiery Salvo!" A green magic circle appeared in front of Ed's handgun as he pointed it at Wendy. Once the trigger was pressed, a barrage of fast, small fireballs was shot toward Wendy's direction. Since she had just blocked the gunner's previous attacks, she found herself almost unprepared for the next strike. Ed smirked deviously. "So, the previous attacks were just a distraction..." the Sky Dragon Slayer thought to herself, her once-frightened expression changed to a confident grin," but I can always make it on time."
"Prepare yourself!" She took a deep breath of air as the fireballs nearly hit her, "Sky Dragon's Roar!" The blast of high-speed, spiraling winds extinguished all the incoming fireballs, heading towards the spell's caster in the process. Ed was surprised by the fact a mere child was easily able to counter his diversion, even though it was a simple one at that. His last thoughts before he was KO'd by Wendy's Sky Dragon's Roar: "The money!" he tossed the gym bag to the side of the cobblestone road.
Meanwhile...
Fighting crooks was a simple thing for a Fairy Tail mage like Romeo. But, fighting a crook who was holding a briefcase filled with stolen money was not so simple-especially when the objective of the job you took was to recover the stolen money. If only there weren't any consequences if he burnt it, which of course would never be the case, he would have kicked Shaw-what-his-names ass sooner.
"Purple Rain!" a multitude of purple fire-disks shot out of the fire magic circle that Romeo created. The young fire mage was once worried that the briefcase might get burnt, causing his team to earn less reward money and staining Fairy Tail's pride. But, he soon realized that without the stolen money, those two robbers won't be able to have much to last them long enough in Bosco. Using that to his advantage, he would hope that his opponent's number one priority would be to keep the briefcase from being burnt, thus not being as careful as to keep himself from being hurt.
Romeo decided to use a diversion to stall and try to catch the robber off guard while he was busy trying to dodge all the flame-disks whilst keeping the money safe. Then, he would strike Shaw (when caught off guard) directly and somehow take back the briefcase containing the money in the process. Presently, the diversion part of Romeo's job-completing-plan was going smoothly, Shaw was dodging the purple disks of fire without much difficulty. "Dammit, how much longer until this guy gives it up?" he had to keep the spell intact until he found his opponent off guard, but he was finding it slightly tiring since he was slowly using up his magic while the duration of the spell increased. Just when he was about to consider hitting Shaw directly..."Sky Dragon's Roar!"
A certain roar from a certain Sky Dragon Slayer sent Ed (who was clutching his gun, and only his gun; no bag-o-money)straight into Shaw (who dropped the briefcase due to sudden impact) which was heading straight into Romeo at a rapid pace. Romeo's eyes widened as he saw the two goons being blasted in his direction. "Oh shit!" And those were the last thoughts of our dear Romeo Conbolt before he got knocked out like a bowling pin and crashed into the wall of the boathouse back-first.
Timeskip~At Hargeon Park~
Hargeon Park, well more like a central plaza, a place where little children come and play, parents can relax and enjoy the momentary break or a nap on a bench.
"I'm sorry Romeo-san. And I mean it!" Wendy apologized as she was wrapping a bandage around Romeo's back wound.
"For the thousandth time, it's alright...your constant wailing will give me a headache," Romeo mumbled. As you may have been wondering, the two bandits that Wendy and Romeo fought earlier were arrested and were going to be brought to justice. All we have left to do is to bring the money to Oshibana's Bank.
"Wendy, you need to be more careful next time. You could have broken Romeo's spine or worse!" Carla lectured her Dragon Slayer friend, "The last thing anyone needs is another Natsu in the guild, wrecking things and causing trouble for others."
With that, her lecture was over and she turned her head away from Wendy as if she was shunning her momentarily. Wendy frowned and drooped her head down once she finished bandaging him.
"Hey, cheer up." the Dragon Slayer looked up into Romeo's face to see his cheerful smile and his gleaming onyx eyes," I've been hurt pretty badly before. Plus, I'm a Fairy Tail mage, getting hurt in fights is something I'm used to. By the way, what happened to those thugs we fought earlier?'' the flame mage asked as he fastened on his vest.
"Long story short, the local Fiore Soldier Unit came and demanded an explanation from me, it was embarrassing...being scolded in public..." Wendy frowned as she recalled the memory, she then got back to the story," But then Carla started to talk and all the Rune Knights began to freak out."
Carla mumbled, "I've been around for many years, and people still freak out about flying cats..."
Romeo turned back to Wendy who was continuing her explanation of the situation, "Eventually, Carla explained what happened, and then the Rune Knights took the robbers with them to the nearest jail. But what I found funny was that you were unconscious the whole time all that happened..." Wendy innocently smiled.
This came as a shock to Romeo, "ALL WHILE I WAS KNOCKED OUT!?"
"Yes, it's quite pathetic of you," Carla scoffed at Romeo," leaving Wendy to take care of the rest of the work like that, you truly don't deserve to be called a man for leaving a girl hanging."
With that, the prim, white Exceed turned to the other side, shunning Romeo, who was left sweatdropping alongside Wendy...
"Are you trying to imply anything based on what you said?" Romeo interrogated.
Carla turned around, with a slightly devilishly innocent grin on her kitty-like face, "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. More importantly, we need toreturn the money to the bank at Oshibana."
Timeskip~On the train to Oshibana~
The train ride to Oshibana from Hargeon was a long one, but the scenery around the train was filed with a portion of the bounty of nature flourishing around them. Tall trees with their branched filled with healthy, green leaves shrouded what creatures lay in the woods the viewers see. Bushes, some with flowers or berries, were at the foot of most of those trees. Occasionally, a flock of birds flew over the train in the vast, blue sky spread before them. In that sky, the sun shined brightly. Only a few puffy, white clouds lay in sight.
Wendy gazed at the scenery before her through the clear, glass window of the train. "Such a nice day to be out on a job..." the young Dragon Slayer thought in delight.
While the bluenette watched the scenery via the window, Carla sat next to her, glaring at Romeo who sat across from them. Romeo sat nervously on the cushioned seat while tightly holding the bags of money that the team retrieved for the request against his chest. There was only one more stop until they've reached Oshibana, the Kunungi Station. The three mages were anxious to drop the money off at the bank since the sooner they dropped the money at the bank, the sooner they can go back to Fairy Tail to hang out with their friends and have a blast...(A/N: Remember the Lullaby arc in the original series. Eisenwald seized a train at Kunungi Station before heading off to Clover Town).
Romeo, who was already very uncomfortable with Carla's evil eyes staring down upon his very existence, gulped nervously and began a conversation with Wendy, "Hey, um, Wendy..."
Wendy jumped up a little in surprise for the trance of the great outdoors was broken upon hearing Romeo's voice. "Uh...what is it?"
"What do you plan on doing after coming back to the guild?"
"I plan on-wait a second, how do you know that I'm going back to the guild/" the Sky Dragon Slayer squeaked in astonishment.
Romeo shrugged, "I wonder how I..."
"Ne, Romeo-san?"
"What."
"What are you going to do? " Wendy pouted
"Probably, the same as you...hang out with Natsu-nii, Lucy-nee, Elf-nii, and the others. Maybe Natsu-nii can teach me how to make my Fire Magic stronger...if only he and Gray-nii can stop fighting..." Romeo went on about Natsu's determination, Elfman's manliness, Gray's stripping habits, Mira's demonic matchmaking skills, how is old man and Wakaba are such perverted old men and some of the other older members of Fairy Tail and their adventures. Wendy became just as engaged in the conversation as he was because she was fascinated by how Romeo looked up to all of them, just like her. Meanwhile, Carla was so bored that she began to drift asleep.
...
"-and then Natsu-nii gave him a fist full of flames right in the jaw! If you were there you could have seen how far the guy was sent flying! Probably, he went soaring halfway across town."
"No way, that only happens in the movies!" Wendy replied, fully engaged.
Suddenly their conversation was interrupted by the stopping of the train in Oshibana Station. Romeo and Wendy looked outside through the window again. Outside, beyond the railroad station, lay a bustling town, with people, markets, shops, etc. "Did we talk for that long?" Romeo asked curiously.
"I didn't even notice that we had stopped at Kunungi Station," Wendy stated.
Just then, Carla had awoken from her nap with a cute kitty yawn. She stretched her paws outwards and then rubbed her eyes. "Have we arrived yet?"
Shortly after, the three were off of the train and on their way to the bank, specifically known as Flower Bank. Flower Bank is a well-known banking industry throughout all of Fiore, so each bank has decent security, a fancy, business-like look to it, and a substantial amount of customers due to being super reliable. However, with all the customers and countless deposits, the Flower Bank is a magnet to robbers. The client/ person who sent the request was the boss of Oshibana's Flower Bank, which lay somewhere near the heart of town. The thugs from earlier at Hargeon were able to make it away with only twelve out of the many deposits before they were caught red-handed and somehow managed to escape security. Even so, the customers whose deposits were stolen were livid as hell, so to calm down the customers and prevent customers from withdrawing their deposits from his bank and transfer them to other local banks, he sent a request to the nearest mage guild, Fairy Tail.
Walking along the concrete-paved road of Oshibana, Romeo (who had the gym bag fastened around his right shoulder and left waist) and Wendy (who held the black, leather briefcase in her left hand) continued their conversation about the older wizards of Fairy Tail and their accomplishments as they made their way to Flower Bank. Carla just followed behind the two focusing on the task at hand and observing the surrounding area. Through those focused brown eyes of hers were children playing and running through the town having fun, busy adults running errands, people advertising products at the market like fruits, vegetables, eggs, fish, lobsters, crabs, and a whole roasted pig! The Exceed gave out a little sigh "I guess nothing's suspicious around here...at least not yet..."
It took them a while to reach the bank, due to having to ask civilians directions, getting lost, and crazed fangirls (Don't ask). The exterior of Flower Bank was more prominent compared to the other buildings in Oshibana, it was decorated with marble walls and pillars and it stood quite taller compared to the other buildings in town. Before the front yard of the entrance, lay a widespread staircase made of concrete. The front yard consisted of neat hedges cut into rectangular shapes and pure, white flowers growing in the trimmed grass. At the entrance, were stationed two Fiore Soldiers who were as still as statues, guarding the clear, glass doors with metal handles while holding their spears to show off their authority and power. The aura exerted by the building was not that business-like one of a bank, but the grandness of a temple, cathedral, or a palace. The three mages' eyes widened as they examined this unusual sight.
Eventually, the three Fairy Tail members made their way up the concrete staircase and stood at the entrance. Before they could even enter, the guards crossed their spears before the glass doors simultaneously, creating an "X". One of the guards spoke in a firm tone, "State your business."
Wendy held up the request paper given by the head of the bank, "We're mages from Fairy Tail, we have come to return the stolen money."
The other guard spoke in a tone just as sternly as the other, "Show us your guild marks."
Romeo showed the guards his red Fairy Tail mark which was on his right bicep. Wendy had to roll up her left sleeve momentarily to show the guards the blue guild mark on her left bicep. And Carla momentarily lifted the back of her shirt to show the guards her bright pink guild mark, and then she tucked it back within a split second.
"That should be good enough." the first guard sighed in defeat.
"You may pass." The other guard said. The two guards lifted their spears, making way for the Fairy Tail mages. Romeo gently opened the glass door using the shiny metal handle, as a gentlemanly gesture to Wendy and to a way lesser extent, Carla. The interior of the bank was just as majestic as the exterior. The hallway floor was covered in gleaming, alabaster marble tiles and white, stone columns that supported the structure. A soft, crimson carpet lay its way across the hallway leading to a polished, wooden counter that was measured to one side of the room to the other. On that counter was the golden insignia of a flower on a stem with a single leaf extending from that stem. Underneath that insignia were the letters that spelled "Flower Bank" in gold. The counter was divided into three sections by glass vanes, and in each section, there was a line of people. Romeo and Wendy (who was now holding Carla) got in the shortest line they could find, the one in the middle.
Even though the line they chose wasn't as long as the others, it felt like they have been stuck at the bank for almost an hour. The people in other lines were staring at them whispering about them behind their backs about the bags they were carrying and their Fairy Tail insignia. Romeo and Wendy sweatdropped nervously for they could hear everything the other people were saying behind them.
Wendy drooped her head for a moment in embarrassment, but when she looked up she finally noticed the people in front of her and Romeo. A girl with cherry-blossom-colored-hair, just like Natsu's. Her skin was practically glowing, with no flaws in sight. The girl had her wavy, cherry-blossom locks down, which went somewhat past her shoulders. She had a black hairband. She wore a magenta blouse over her chest, which was scalloped a few inches beneath her waist. The sleeves were scalloped an inch after her elbow. She wore a black short skirt with black leggings covering her slim legs. Her feet were secured in brown boots. Her most noticeable feature was her eyes, which were as red as a rose in full bloom. She looked like she was around Wendy's age, based on her facial features and height, but she dressed rather maturely compared to Wendy. Next to the pink-haired, red-eyed mystery-girl was a guy with a spiky raven hair-just like Gray's! He too looked a year older than Romeo, plus he was about a centimeter taller than Romeo. The raven-haired guy was "quite the sight" in Wendy's opinion: his skin was just as flawless as the cherry-haired girl, and he had a well-toned body. He wore brown boots, blue jeans, and a black V-neck with the long sleeves rolled up to the elbows and had gleaming sapphires for eyes. The raven-haired wonder was having a friendly chat with that red-haired cherry chick, it seems that something he told her made her giggle... "Do they know each other?" A curious Dragon Slayer asked herself mentally as she stared at the two. But then, she was caught red-handed, for the red-eyed girl turned her head to the side a little with the back of one of her red jewels locking onto Wendy's chocolate eyes.
Romeo looked at Wendy for a moment after he began to ignore the comments of the onlookers in the other lines. "What is she staring at?" Romeo mentally said to then traced the direction at which her eyes were gazing at and noticed she was staring at the two people who were in front of them: a cherry-blossom-haired girl and particularly at the raven-haired guy. Romeo's reddened at the situation. Wendy, Wendy Marvell above all people were checking out some random guy right in front of his face. "Well, sure...um, she's at the age where she's probably into this kind of stuff... But how come she hasn't noticed m-"I'm so sorry!"
Romeo's train of thought was interrupted by a certain Dragon Slayer's commotion.
Wendy was bowing and apologizing to the pink-haired girl and the raven-haired man, creating a commotion, and embarrassing herself, Romeo, Carla (who had got herself out of Wendy's arms), and the two strangers. "I didn't mean to stare, please don't be mad at me or creeped out in any way..."
The pink-haired girl smiled with embarrassment, "No, it's fine." Her voice was sweet and polite and invited Wendy's confidence.
The raven-haired guy joined in, with a harmless tone, "You don't have to worry about something like that." Still, he preserved his serious stature.
"My name's Wendy," the bluenette introduced herself, she pointed to Romeo and Carla, "The guy I'm pointing to is Romeo and that cat there is Carla."
At the word "cat", Carla began to glare daggers at Wendy. Romeo gave the two a small hi.
"I'm Aria," the pinkette introduced herself," this is Shin-kun." she addressed, putting her dainty hand over the guy's shoulder.
"Shinji, Shinji Tsukiya." Shinji extended upon her point.
The bluenette, with help from Romeo, explained about being mages, about the request they took, and that they have to return the money as soon as possible. With some reluctance, Shinji and Aria let Romeo and Wendy get to the receptionist at the stall first, so they could take care of returning the money and receiving their reward of 125,000 Jewel. Out of courteousness, Wendy wanted to wait for Shinji and Aria to withdraw their deposit at the entrance of the bank, much to Romeo's and Carla's dismay. All five eventually exited the bank and were chatting idly away whilst walking downtown, except for Carla who just glowered as she followed the four teens behind.
"So, tell me, what do you guys do in Fairy Tail?" Aria asked.
The two Fairy Tail mages (and Carla) gawked in surprise. "How the hell do you know!?"
The pinkette giggled mischievously. She pointed to Romeo's red guild mark on his right deltoid, "Isn't it obvious enough?"
"Aria is keener than most observers." Shinji joined in, "You could say that her observation skills could make her a level 69 stalker."
Romeo and Wendy simultaneously gawked. Carla scoffed. Aria's cheeks turned pink.
"Shin-kun, you shouldn't say fake things like that, especially in front of other people!" the red-eyed girl scolded in her crestfallen state.
"Sorry, I was just joking around," the raven-haired guy reassured the girl.
He and Aria then turned to the three who were watching their conversation in silence. "By the way, where are you guys going?"
Romeo and Wendy were in a daze, pondering about the relationship between the red eyes, pink-haired girl and the raven-haired, blue eyes guy. So, the cat had to come out of the bag (partially).
"To the Fairy Tail Headquarters in Magnolia. Isn't that obvious?" the white Exceed crossed her arms.
...
Shinji and Aria stared at Carla with widened eyes.
"The cat can talk!?" Shinji yelled.
"I wonder how I was supposed to see that coming..." Aria questioned herself.
Romeo and Wendy sweatdropped at this somewhat familiar situation. But the moment was ruined when he five heard an explosion. Within seconds, the town was filled with panic. "What's going on?" Romeo asked, shocked at the sudden unfolding of events.
"It came from the bank! Carla, Romeo-san, we need to investigate!" Wendy exclaimed.
The Dragon Slayer turned to Aria and Shinji who wore shocked expressions, "Shinji-san, Aria-san, you two should stay behind."
That snapped the two new individuals out of their surprised state. Aria looked at Wendy, Romeo, and Carla. "Are you sure about this?"
"We don't want you guys to get seriously hurt." Romeo reassured them, "And there's no need to worry since Wendy and I are Fairy Tail-"
"Mages." Shinji completed the sentence, "Aria and I are-"
"Also mages?" Carla suddenly spoke up, "while you guys were enjoying your conversations, I was looking into the near future a little and learned quite a bit."
"That cat not only talks but can also see into the future?" Aria interrupted.
"I'm not a cat, I'm an Exceed. And this is a serious matter." Carla scowled.
Aria stiffened up.
"Carla can look into the future a little," Wendy explained.
Aria turned to her, "Soo precognition?"
"Yes."
Her ruby eyes sparkled in amazement, "Woah."
"Carla," Romeo stood before the white Exceed, "What did you see?"
"The people who caused the explosion at the bank are the same ones you fought earlier at Hargeon. They escaped the grasp of the Rune Knights because all along, they had an accomplice who remained on low grounds. The accomplice busted them out, and they must have figured that the money by now must have been returned to the bank. The robber who wields Fire magic must have caused the explosion."
"A third person?" Wendy gawked.
"Where are they headed?" Shinji asked.
"Here. In a matter of seconds. The gunner and the pyromancer will try to attack you two if they lay their eyes on you." she addressed pointing to Romeo and Wendy, "The gunner is running down the cobblestone path from the bank as we speak. The pyromancer is taking the escape route through the rooftops. As for the third one, I have no clue.'
"Thank you." Shinji nodded firmly. He then faced towards the path, the one the gunner was said to come down from. "I'll take on the gunner," Shinji stated. He held his right arm out, palm open. Above his right palm, a shimmer of bright light occurred. When the light dimmed, a katana appeared in midair. He grasped it by the handle with his right arm.
Romeo, Carla, and Wendy looked at him in awe. "Requip Magic..." Romeo stared.
"Just like Erza-san," Wendy murmured.
"Shin-kun, I'll back you up..." Aria walked up so she could stand next to Shinji. She opened up the palms of her hands and split-second; she was armed with three crystal knives in each hand. The crystal knives were like amethysts.
"You also know Requip!?" Carla was surprised.
"Nope, I know a completely different kind of magic from Shinji." Aria smiled.
"Um, where did you get those knives from?" Wendy asked.
"I'm also pretty curious about this myself," Romeo added.
Aria turned her head to the two mages with a jeering smile. "It's a secret..."
Romeo and Wendy faceplanted to the ground.
Carla scowled, "You fools, this is no time to play around-"
A bullet whizzed past the four mages and hit Carla. Upon contact, Carla screamed as she was electrocuted by a magic bullet, which could only be ired by a certain gunner in the crowd. The poor Exceed collapsed from the surprise attack.
"Carla!" A shocked Wendy caught the electrocuted Exceed before she hit the ground.
Romeo, Shinji, and Aria glared at the direction the bullet was fired and saw a stocky man wearing a navy blue turtleneck, gray jeans, and a black crew cut. Ed smirked, "Now that was a magnificent shot. My Paralyzer Dart has enough electricity to electrocute a full-grown elephant, your poor kitty won't stand a chance."
"Bastard."Romeo gritted his teeth in rage. The Fire Mage sprinted towards the gunner, flames burning in both of his fists.
The gunner grinned in the delight, "He fell for it."
Observing from the rooftops, Shaw noticed Romeo was attempting to strike Ed. The pyromancer conjured multiple orbs of fire and hurled them towards the sitting-duck. "Fireball Barrage!"
The Fire Mage was too absorbed into kicking Ed's ass that he was unaware that someone was attacking him from the rooftops until he had noticed the multiple fireballs rapidly heading towards his direction. Within the few seconds in which Romeo was distracted, Ed prepared his gun to use another spell; indicated by the green magic circle formed around the barrel of the gun.
"Icicle Fusillade!"
Romeo cursed under his breath when he figured out the situation he was in; an inevitable perpendicular attack, in which he is in the point where the lines form their right angle. On his left side, a multitude of rapid fireballs; in front of him, a barrage of sharp shards of ice that could pierce through his skin. "Crap, I can't dodge this!"
"ROMEO-SAN!" Wendy, who was by the unconscious Carla's side, screamed in horror thinking about the inevitable. Little did she realize that Shinji and Aria were standing next to her...
The spells collided, creating a burst of steam, revealing nothing...not even ashes...
Wendy gasped in immense horror, eyes widened greatly, tears starting to form, "No...No way...Romeo-san...no...Please." Tears began to run down her cheeks.
The gunner sneered, "I guess that's one down," he started to laugh.
The pyromancer jumped down from the roof and softened his landing by spouting flames from his feet. The crook wore a devious smirk on his face, "Talk about pathetic. Especially for a Fairy Tail Mage." He began to cackle loudly.
Wendy wiped the tears rolling down her cheeks. She stood up and clenched her fists. First, these bastards stunned her dear cat. Next, they make up for it by vaporizing one of her nakama into nothingness right in front of her own eyes. Her chocolate eyes were melting with rage. "And to think you people couldn't stoop any lower than vandalizing property and stealing...," she wanted to hold it back but she had to release it, "YOU-!"
Ed pointed his pistol at Wendy, his index finger twiddling with the trigger. His iris's narrowed at the bluenette, "I'd watch your mouth if I were you, little shit. All I have to do is press this and you'll be kicking daisies the next day."
Wendy trembled in fear of what may happen to her. All the robber had to do was push the trigger and a bullet would come from the barrel. Although she could have deflected it using her magic, Wendy was still mortified by the just-recent events that had occurred with Romeo.
Shaw jumped down from the rooftops, softening his landing by spouting flames from his feet. The pyromancer cackled wickedly, "Perhaps we should hold her hostage. We could get even more money by charging her guild with a ransom."
"I don't think Badger would be very pleased with the fact that we'd arrive late..." the gunner mumbled and discussed with his partner in crime what actions they should take.
Meanwhile, Wendy was trying to devise an escape -plan. " So Carla's premonition was correct-that there is a third person. But how could someone like me escape the third member when I haven't seen him/her yet? What chance do I have escaping now? I don't want to become a hostage! Think Wendy think, what would Lucy-san do in this situation?!"
"...Missing this very opportunity would be a sin! We could get hell money from her guild, and when I mean hell 'a, I mean a HUGE-ASS AMOUNT of money that could set us for possibly the rest of our lives..." Shaw greedily drooled, dollar bills in his eyes, his right index finger rubbing so fast with his thumb you could see smoke.
Ed sighed, "Fine, for the sake of money, "he locked his eyes onto Wendy and a green magic circle formed around the barrel of the pistol," Icicle Fusillade!"
As soon as he cast his spell, Wendy had no time to react; to escape. Icicles, sharp as daggers, were conjured from the magic circle and were launched at the Sky Dragon Slayer. Their sharp, crystallized inching towards her body. All she could do was at least protect Carla's unconscious body. She curled Carla into her arms, shielding her from those cold bullets.
Shaw's jaw dropped, "What I thought you were going to knock her out on killing her!"
Ed, eyes mercilessly locked onto his target responded, "Even if we hold her hostage, her guild of wizards would likely avenge her in case we kill her as a hostage and search for us and skin our hides. Killing her hear and now will reduce the likeliness of others knowing it was us who committed this crime...Right?"
Shaw gulped, a little nervous, "Yeah..."
Wendy was about to close her eye before the shards punctured her skin, but somethings, or should she say two certain somebody suddenly appeared in front of her, appearing out of thin air. To the right was Shinji holding the sword he held before he suddenly appeared here... Wendy thought she was hallucinating; she scanned the area around her to see if Shinji and Aria were there. "Did they move or something? How did he just appear out of midair when he was right next to me? And where is Aria? Weren't they with me while Romeo vanished? Romeo..."
To the left was her partner, the one who vanished, or should I say [was] teleported...Romeo Conbolt, whose fists were burning with flames as angry as his eyes.
Flashback~ Some fifteen minutes ago...~
Romeo cursed under his breath when he figured out the situation he was in; an inevitable perpendicular attack, in which he lies at the point where the lines form their right angle. On his left side, a multitude of rapid fireballs; in front of him, a barrage of sharp shards of ice that could pierce through his skin. "Crap, I can't dodge this!"
"Crap, Romeo's seriously will get hurt if we don't do something," Shinji whispered to Aria almost inaudibly, Wendy, despite having enhanced Dragon senses was engaged in Romeo's possible oblivion.
"I know," the mysterious pinkette whispered back with concern," and I think I know just what to do."
Shinji knew exactly what she'd do next; after all, they've got their kind of history together. Aria grabbed his hand. Shinji held Aria's too. Their fingers interlocked. Then, they vanished into mid-air.
A moment before Ed's and Shaw's attacks collided Aria and Shinji suddenly appeared before Romeo. What happened was astounding. Shinji severed the fireballs nimbly with his katana, fire collecting onto the sword in the process in mid-air in a split-second. The swordsman then swirled in the air and slashed the icicles that would have punctured into Romeo and Aria's skin in the second that followed. The sword mage strategically scattered the rapidly vaporizing fragments around the three, to camouflage the three momentarily with a thick vapor screen. When the smokescreen was about to wear off, Aria grabbed both Shinji and Romeo by their wrists and teleported them. What occurred had been carried out in such nimble, swift succession, that neither the two vandals nor Wendy could see what happened.
Romeo opened his eyes, expecting to feel the pain of icicles stabbing his skin and fire scorching his body. He noticed he was on a rooftop. Due to shifting his weight to the heels of his feet, he lost his balance and was about to fall backward. He was about to shriek, when a strong hand was clasped onto his mouth, only muffled noises came out, the other strong hand grasped his right wrist. Another hand (possibly from a different person) grabbed his left wrist. and pulled him into a crouching position onto the downward slope of the rooftop. To his left was Aria and to the right was Shinji, who still had his left hand covering Romeo's mouth, which was still making muffled noises. "Ssshhhhh..." Shinji tried to quiet Romeo down, but Romeo's rising anger made the situation more difficult. Romeo grabbed onto Shinji's arm that was imprisoning his mouth with both of his arms and managed to unleash his grip. Romeo glared at Shinji," What the hell, I thought we were friends?"
"Ssshhh...Romeo got to keep quiet." Shinji pointed his index finger at the scene displayed before them, "Or else they will know that you didn't die."
Romeo was utterly shocked, "Die? Me?"
Aria facepalmed, "Shin-kun, you're scaring him."
Shinji embarrassed by his mistake, explained to Romeo, "I'm sincerely sorry, but Aria and I devised this plan at the moment you were about to get hit by the simultaneous attack. Aria used her Teleportation Magic to transport the two of us, so we could protect you. To make it seem like you died, I created an explosion-like smokescreen, using the pyromancer's fireballs and the gunner's icicle bullets, to disillusion the enemies into thinking both attacks made contact with you. Aria quickly teleported us again into this location to make it seem like nothing of you was left behind."
Romeo's jaw dropped low at Shinji's explanation. Aria facepalmed once more, "Wow, Shin-kun, you've seriously scared the guy now."
Shinji sweatdropped, "Sorry...but right now we need to keep an eye on what they're doing." Shinji muttered, eyes glancing at the scene on the cobblestone road.
Aria shuddered in disgust, red eyes glaring daggers at the pyromancer, "Ewww, that guy must have some sort of money-complex..."
"Is that the first thing you think when you just heard what he sa-!" Romeo almost raised his voice, when this time Aria swiftly clamped his mouth shut with her single index finger.
"No, no it is not the first thing I am thinking about." Her red eyes were filled with fury and determination, "So here's what we'll do. Knowing that man with the gun will strike, either way, I am going to teleport you and Shinji to aid Wendy."
"While the enemy is taken off guard, you'll appear to sneak behind them and attack." Shinji completed the rest of the plan Aria devised.
Aria held her blushing cheeks with her dainty hands, her once-raging scarlet eyes were now dazzling, "Aww, Shin-kun, you know me too well..."
"Well...yeah...I mean since we've..." Shinji blushed a little while scratching his spiky raven locks.
Romeo sweatdropped. He shook his head and straightened out, "Now's not the time to act like lovebirds, Wendy's in danger."
That snapped the two out of their quarrel. "Right."
Ed sighed, "Fine, for the sake of money, "he locked his eyes onto Wendy and a green magic circle formed around the barrel of the pistol.
Aria started marking the time, "Here we go: ...3" She placed one hand on Romeo's shoulder and the other on Shinji's,"...2...1! GO!"
"Icicle Fusillade!"
As soon as he cast his spell, Wendy had no time to react; to escape. Icicles, sharp as daggers, were conjured from the magic circle and were launched at the Sky Dragon Slayer. The sharp, crystallized knives inching towards her body. All she could do was at least protect Carla's unconscious body. She curled Carla into her arms, shielding her from those cold bullets.
~Back to Present~
"Red Vortex!" from his fiery fists, Romeo conjured a cyclone of crimson flames towards the barrage of icicles, vaporizing them completely. The spiral of extremely scorching flames accelerated towards the two crooks. Shaw stepped in front of the blazing tornado heading towards them and created a wall of fire to counter Romeo's spell. Shaw was struggling to suppress Romeo's spell due to the intense heat, causing beads of sweat to form on his body, coupled with the power of the spell the 15-year-old cast. Crimson flames spouted off the sides of the shield, damaging surrounding buildings. While Shaw was occupied, Ed decided to go in for the kill, he moved away from Shaw a few steps away to position himself to get a clear shot of Romeo. Aligning the rear sight to the front sight to the mage's collarbone, Ed didn't realize that a pink-haired suddenly appeared behind him. The pinkette delivered a swift kick to the gunner's right, beforehand rendered vulnerable for he anchored his left foot with the majority of his weight whilst trying to shoot Romeo.
Ed's concentration snapped as he suddenly staggered backward, towards Aria, eventually falling on his rump. Immediately, he got up back on his feet, his face scorching red with irritability. He spotted the mastermind responsible for causing him to feel this humiliation and pointed his pistol at her. "Damn you! How dare you make a fool outta me!"
The angered gunner tried to shoot Aria. But bullet after bullet he kept missing. Each time the bullet seemed sure to hit, the girl would teleport some feet away just to taunt him into shooting her again. For every miss, Ed's frustration rose. The vein on his reddened face looked as if it could pop out. Finally, Ed's frustration reached its peak, "Stop teleporting you cowardly bitch and fight me like a man!"
Aria frowned at the insult, "That's mean! I was going be nice and mess around with you some more, but now you've lost your chance."
The gunner, still red with frustration, smirked. "Come at me girl!"
Aria snapped her finger and before Ed knew it, he was surrounded by shards- translucent, bright-indigo crystal shards with points sharper than knives. Another snap of the finger and the crystalline daggers accelerated towards Ed, who was now sweating in fright. "Please! Show mercy! STOOOOPPP!
"Punishing Blossom!" The crystal daggers contacted the frightened thug's skin. Not only did they pierce the skin, but the daggers also burst, covering the contacted area with crystal, immobilizing the enemy. Aria looked at the wide-eyed Ed, whose whole body was rendered immobile by the crystals conjured from her spell. "Sorry, I might have been too harsh with you...Oh well!" the lass turned away and bounded towards her friends who might need her assistance.
Romeo was on the offensive with the other Fire Mage. Aria was dealing with the guy with the pistol. As for Shinji, he was kneeling by Carla alongside Wendy. The Sky Dragon Slayer was in the middle of healing her precious long-time friend. Over the time Team Natsu disbanded, Wendy had been helping Porlyusica with creating medicines/remedies/antidotes and healing the injured, enhancing her healing capacity a great deal.
Meanwhile, Shinji was preoccupied. "That's strange." the black-haired man thought, "Even though they just robbed a bank, neither of these thugs have any bags or cases that may contain money..." and then it hit him like a ton of bricks "Goddammit! This whole thing is a diversion. That's why Carla told us that the pyro-maniac and the guns guy attacked us right on the spot! And worst of all, the third guy has robbed money and is escaping as we speak!"
Shinji slammed his fist to the ground, "Dammit!"
Wendy, shocked by his sudden rage, jolted backstopping the flowing of her healing magic onto Carla. Shinji noticing what he had just done cast an apologetic smile on his face, "I apologize for my outburst, but I just figured out the enemy's real intentions."
Those last few words perked Wendy's attention, "What are their plans?"
"Take a guess. These two guys that we are fighting now just robbed a bank, but they have no moneybags to prove it."
"Are you implying that they didn't rob the bank?" Wendy questioned, confused.
"No. Absolutely no. Remember when Carla told us about a third thief being assisting the two from behind the scenes?"
"Yes"-then it hit her like a ton of bricks. At that point Wendy's eyes widened-"You mean...you mean that the third person has all the money and is making his escape right now!?"
"Right on the mark!" Shinji confirmed, "Also, this means that the two we are facing now are stalling us to buy the third robber some time to escape with all the cash, unharmed."
"What do you suggest we do?" Wendy asked.
"We split up into two's. Two of us will take on the two bastards trying to stall us here while the other two search for the third member and try to retrieve the stolen money."
From mid-air, Aria appeared. Wendy jolted back from another surprise, "Aria-san, where were you?"
The pinkette bowed her head in apology, "I'm sorry Wendy, and I had my hands full, mocking the enemy until he reached his boiling point."
Wendy, a little flustered, gestured to Aria that it was alright, "You don't need to apologize. Anyways, Shinji came up with a plan that could help us catch the criminals."
Shinji crossed his arms, giving Aria a smug look, "That seems typical of you."
"Teehee~!" Aria winked at Shinji, giving him a mischievous smile.
Shinji sighed deeply, and returned to his serious stature, "There is a third robber on the loose and-"
"You want the group to split into two so that we can prevent the third person from escaping with the cash and at the same time finish the remaining diversion members?" the pinkette wanted approval as to what she thought was correct.
Shinji smirked and nodded in approval, "Tell me something I don't know."
Aria giggled in response.
"Hey, you guys...don't forget that I exist too" the slightly tired voice belonged to Romeo, who remained on the offensive throughout Shinji and Wendy's conversation, was gradually losing his ground for Shaw caught him off guard earlier and switched into an assault from defensive stalling.
Noticing that more of Fairies have gathered, Shaw formulated a plan to prevent them from escaping his clutches,"It seems that more of them have gathered. This means that that idiot Ed has ended up biting the dust by the hands of one of those pipsqueaks. If I'm the only one left who can stall these guys, then I must make sure not to let even one of the little insects escape my grasp."
The thug stopped his spell, the line of flames extinguished into the air. Romeo's spell thus prevailed towards its intended target. However, the thief merely shifted to the side, avoiding incineration. Romeo stopped his spell and let his onyx orbs follow his opponent. Shinji turned to Aria, "Aria?"
"Yes?"
"Take Wendy and Carla somewhere else in the city. The pyromancer doesn't want anyone to escape."
"Roger that! By the way, you are officially in my debt." Aria stepped towards Wendy, who now held a sleeping Carla in her arms. "Wendy, let's go look for the third guy."
"I won't let you down." With that, they teleported away, leaving Romeo and Shinji to fight Shaw. Shaw cursed under his breath, "Shit! I let two of 'em escape already...but two remain. Even if I am the last bastion, it would better I take out some rather than none!"
The pyromancer spread his hands apart, an orange magic circle appeared in front of his hands. Shaw cackled madly, "You shits aren't going anywhere!"
Romeo and Shinji were poised into their fighting stances, ready to take on whatever this punk was going to throw at them. Shinji drew his sword. Romeo clenched his fists and set them on fire. The two expect the spell to activate immediately, except nothing happened, yet. While gripping the handle of his blade tightly, Shinji scanned the area around the two mages and at Shaw still stood there, hands and feet apart, the orange magic circle, still glowing..."Something is seriously wrong, could it be that he's trying to bluff us?"
Romeo, too, was noting the possibilities, " Maybe he's bluffing to stall us from helping Wendy and Aria search for the third guy...but the flow of magic is going into the circle. If the magic has still been flowing into the circle for this long then-!"
Interrupting his concentration, a large, glowing orange magic circle appeared beneath their feet. Both Shinji and Romeo were shocked. Shaw cackled once more, "Hah! You kids thought I was going to attack you head-on! I'm not stupid like most people are. So, in my efforts to make sure the remaining lots of you don't escape me, I used a spell in my arsenal that would help me carry out my plan. The first magic circle that you saw looked like a typical magic circle for a regular fire spell. That circle was a bluff...as well as the primary step into activating the spell. Once I summoned the first magic circle, all I needed to do was channel more magical energy into it so I could create the one you see beneath you. The next step is my favorite one because now, I'll burn you all to a crisp!" the thief hissed with a lisp.
Romeo gritted his teeth in great anger; the fire on his fists was burning stronger than before. "Bastard..." Shinji gripped the handle of his sword tighter, for the lad was growing more nervous and he grew sweatier...sweaty from this abnormally intense heat from the glowing circle beneath them! Romeo then lunged for Shaw. He was stopped midway when the magic circle that covered a wide area of the cobblestone road shined at a greater intensity than before, marking the activation of the spell Shaw prepared. "I hope you enjoy being burned to death! Inferno!"
A grand column of scorching flames ascended from the circle, enveloping both Romeo and Shinji into its burning abyss.
To be continued...
Hi, guys, I am so very extremely sorry for making you all wait. I hope you enjoyed reading all the other great fanfics that are out there and the first chapter of my fanfiction. Thank you all so very much for waiting ever so patiently! So here are some details on the OC's that will become MC's in my story: BTW- these OC's belong to me since I created them!
BIOS HAVE BEEN EDITED FOR SAKE OF FUTURE ARCS:
Shinji Tsukiya
Age: 16 Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Sapphire; Blue
Affiliation: Fairy Tail (to be), Independent Mage
Likes: Friendships, Helping Others
Dislikes: Violence, Pranks in which he is the victim
Magic: Requip: The Knight, Swords Magic, more details on the way
Bio: Shinji and Aria have been traveling around the country for a few years as freelance mages. How they met will be revealed in a small slice of life arc. The two met after the events of their respective backstories and found solace in one another.
Purpose: Shinji although similar-looking to a younger Gray and Erza via his magic. He is disciplined well, brave, and virtuous given his and looks out for his friends (well that's Erza-like, very Erza-like; but I like Erza, so if you were expecting him to be Romeo's rival, you are wrong!). He will become Erza's pupil, referring to her as Erza-sensei, which is why his magic will be the same as Erza's and of course different armors. But different from Erza is that he and Romeo will develop as friends who have each others' backs. Plus, he doesn't crave desserts nor does he go overboard with certain things.
Aria
Age: 15 Hair Color: Pink; Cherry-Blossom-Colored
Eye Color: Red
Affiliation: Fairy Tail (to be), Independent Mage
Likes: Cooking, Pranks, Fashion
Dislikes: Her Lack of Memories Regarding Home
Magic: Teleportation, ? - These question marks show that she knows another magic, but I am not going to tell you. Try guessing!
Bio: Aria and Shinji have spent a few years as freelance mages together. They met after the events of their respective backstories. When trying to recollect why she left home, Aria can't remember-including her last name which some of you may already know before I deleted the stuff...Over the course of her time with Shinji, she developed feelings for him. She doesn't know if he has feelings for her, but he has told her the truly unforgettable, "I'll protect you no matter what!" during travels. The mysterious magic involving the crystals is her primary magic, but she aides it with Teleportation Magic to gain stealth and speed.
Purpose: Aria harbors romantic feelings for Shinji and nobody else. Though she isn't so very superstitiously possessive like Juvia. She is way more original compared to Shinji (I know). She is not only stealthy and fast in fights, but she's also skillfully acrobatic. Her appearance is similar to Inori from Guilty Crown, but she is nobodies' incarnation. She will develop a best-friend relationship with Wendy.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment! But nothing too harsh!
