Our next file graces us with "INCIDENT 0109271992" and a drawing of a paintball gun and what looks like a bee nest.

Ruby: "Our next death appears to be incident 0109271992".

Shannon: "That's one with hornets. Those insects may be small, but they pack a painful punch."

The image on the file shows a woman with blond hair. She is apparently screaming at the sight of a man slumped down on the grass, wearing a white tank top and tartan jacket.

Shannon: "They might not be as well known as bees or wasps, but they're just as deadly if angered…"

Zoom in.

We open to the man in what seems to be his front yard on his cellphone chatting with friends. He is holding a rake in his other hand.

Date of Incident: 27 September, 1992

Location of Incident: Boone Residence, Lubbock, Texas

The man takes a swig out of a beer bottle.

Shannon: (Narrating) "This here is JT Boone. Like most guys in Texas, he'd rather be out drinking with buddies than doing the yardwork."

Zooming out reveals that just in front of JT is a tree, behind which the woman is hiding.

Shannon: (Narrating) "But he was no match for his smoking hot wife, Trixie."

Soon enough Trixie steps out from behind the tree, and JT perks his head up upon seeing her.

JT: "Oh, I gotta go!"

He quickly ends the call and files his cellphone away as she steps up to him.

JT: "Oh, Trixie ma'am! Taking a little water break here, that's all."

The camera changes to a shot of Trixie's feet, and as she begins dancing seductively for JT it pans up to her head.

Trixie: "Do you like what ya had last night?"

JT: "Hell yeah, I did!"

Trixie turns away from her husband and begins twerking.

Trixie: "Are ya horny for some of this?"

JT: "Yeah baby, I'm horny for some of that!"

Trixie promptly points up at the sky.

Trixie: "Alright. Put your thing away and get rid of that hornets' nest. Deal with it."

As JT sighs, Trixie turns around and begins walking back towards the house's front door.

JT: "You're my queen!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "Threatening to turn off the Mickey nozzle was more than JT could bear. It was time to go to war."

JT approaches the tree and stares up at the hornets' nest in question. A view from the next shows JT poking up at it with the handle of the rake.

JT: "Come on!"

He continues attempting to knock it down with the rake, not having much success.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Ruby, your analysis on this?"

We cut to Ruby in the office, holding a hornets' nest.

Ruby: "There can be like, a few hundred hornets in a typical nest. As Lana Loud will be more than willing to tell you, insects perform any important jobs in nature like pollination and providing nourishment for other animals. And they are usually harmful to us because we make the mistake of disturbing their nests or being somewhere they wanna be."

Cut back to JT, who is no closer to dislodging the hornets' nest than when he started.

JT: "Come on! Come on!"

He turns the rake around and swings at the nest with the tines, but this is also not sufficient to knock it down.

Shannon: (Narrating) "JT was not having much luck with the hornets. But this is Texas. If all else fails…"

JT throws the rake down and storms off.

Shannon: (Narrating) "...hit the gun rack."

JT returns with a gun in hand.

Shannon: (Narrating) "JT is a suburban cowboy, so his weapon of choice is a paintball gun."

A view of the nest shows the hornets buzzing around as JT aims the gun up at their home.

JT: "Alright, you think you can play me and stop me humping my wife? Well, eat paint buggo!"

He pulls the trigger and a paintball shoots out. It flies up at the nest and splatters against it, also injecting enough force for the nest to shake sufficiently to break free from its stem and fall to the ground.

JT: "YEAH! Oh yeah! Who's the man!"

Immediately the angry insects emerge from their home and begin swarming JT.

JT: "Who's the- Oh f***!"

JT begins flailing in panic as the insects begin venting their wrath on him.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Maybe JT should have thought first and shot later."

She then brings up a CGI shot, showing one of the hornets landing on JT's skin and sinking its stinger into his flesh. The venom molecules enter his body and begin to ride his bloodstream.

Shannon: (Narrating) "When a hornets' nest is attacked, the entire colony mobilises to sting the attacker in response. The first hornet to reach JT would have sprayed him with a pheromone that the other insects would use to zero in on their target."

JT: "Ow! Ow! Aah! Oh no! F***!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "Also, JT didn't know a lot about anything, including himself. For example, he had no idea he was allergic to hornet venom. Soon enough, anaphylaxis set in."

Just after that sentence is finished JT collapses to the ground.

Shannon: (Narrating) "He collapsed, covered with welts from hundreds of stings. The reaction to the venom caused his blood vessels to dilate, dropping blood pressure, and his airways to swell, making breathing impossible."

A CGI shot shows those symptoms. This is followed by Trixie returning to check on JT, who has fallen silent.

Shannon: (Narrating) "He quickly went into shock and never recovered."

Trixie screams at the sight of her deceased husband.

Shannon: (Narrating) "I guess he died a noble gunman…"

Trixie is now stroking JY's chest in an attempt to rouse him.

Trixie: "Baby?"

Shannon: (Narrating) "...fighting for the booty rights to his Texas maiden."

Trixie: "Baby! Please wake up!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "Happy trails, cowboy."

WAY TO DIE #199

ME SO HORNET

Back to the Sharuby couple in their office.

Shannon: "Man, that looked terrifying!"

Ruby: "Yeah, it's said that hornets and their relatives kill about 72 people per year."

Shannon: "Really JT should have just smoked the colony out or something. Next file please - your turn to narrate."

Ruby nods, closing the file and marking it before wheeling over to get the next one.
