Chapter four:
Kaoru is at the airport to see his brother off since the other is about to fly to another country, America to be exact, for some work to further expand the family company.
"Are you sure you don't want me to stay? You could even come with me if you want." Hikaru offers since this is going to be the furthest that the two of them have been separated.
"I'll be okay." Kaoru promises hugging his brother who hugs him back. "If I do need anything then I can always call you or message you." He hopes that this will soothe his brother. "We'll see each other again soon enough. I just know it."
Hikaru relaxes a little at this and the two of them pull apart. He heads off to go catch his first class flight.
Kaoru watches him go then heads off to go home. He arrives a bit later and spots Daiki on the couch texting on his phone while the children work on homework on the carpet in the living room. He sits next to his husband.
"Did you think about where you wanted to go?" Daiki asks without looking up from his phone. "I am just finishing the last part. So we can start working on that trip I promised." His words do make Kaoru excited.
"How about a trip to Kumano Kudo Pilgrimage Route? I've always wanted to check that out."
Daiki turns to Kaoru with a smile. "Alright. Then we can check out some sights around the area." His agreement gets even more excitement from Kaoru for this trip. He chuckles at this. "I will let you know when the trip is going to happen. I will make sure to set up all the activities. So we can have everything all set for us."
Kaoru shifts in excitement at finally going to this place.
After the trip… Which turned out to a typically family month out on vacation…
Kaoru got back just a day after Hikaru came back from the work trip. He wakes up the morning after three days since the vacation. He notices that Daiki is already gone. He gets up and heads down planning to have breakfast only to notice his husband pacing in the living room. He approaches though isn't noticed right away.
"Damn it." Daiki mutters as he paces looking down like he is planning something out. "They really think that they can start that rumor about me? They have another thing coming. They aren't going to win. They'll see."
"Darling?"
Daiki stops pacing and turns to Kaoru who is looking worriedly at him. "Honey." He hurries over to embrace Kaoru.
"What is going on?" Kaoru hugs his husband back with deep worry about all of this.
"Well some associates of the one who is doing the deal with me want to spread some rumor about me. Trying to make my company look bad to lose other things until I have to sell to the lady that I just did the deal with." Daiki explains and Kaoru feels his worry worsen. "Well you don't need to worry." He kisses the top of Kaoru's head. "I already have a plan on how to make them realize what a bad mistake they are making to try to mess with me. Just trust me. I will do what I have to in order to keep the company from her clutches."
Kaoru still has a bad feeling about this though he just trusts his husband. He doesn't see any reason to not trust Daiki. "I can take care of the children today. You deal with this. If you need anything from me then let me know."
"Thank you. And don't worry. You won't have to do much. All I need from you is the trust in me and to let me do what I need to. Stay by my side and I will make all these troubles go away."
"Okay. I trust you." Kaoru hopes that everything will turn out alright.
"Thank you my love."
Kaoru doesn't hear anything about this for a whole week and Daiki seems happy so he figures that it must all be resolved. He heads to check the newspaper only to find that it isn't on the living room coffee table. He wonders where it is turning to a maid who walks by. "Where is the newspaper?"
The maid pauses to turn to him. "Oh. Master Daiki took it earlier. He is in his office."
"Thank you." Kaoru heads to Daiki's office and finds his husband chuckling at the newspaper. He sneaks closer to look at what has made his husband so happy. His eyes widen at what he reads. "You cheated on me!?"
Daiki jumps to his feet, dropping the newspaper, and spinning around to look at Kaoru with wide eyes. "Darling." He starts though Kaoru shakes his head taking a few steps back speaking to stop him from making excuses.
"How could you!?" Kaoru blinks his tearful eyes before turning and running away. He locks the bedroom door to keep Daiki out. He covers his mouth as he collapses to sit on the floor sobbing. He can't believe that Daiki would charm a woman and bring her into their own bed! He cries for he isn't sure how long and doesn't hear anyone coming to bother him. He is glad for the privacy at least. He stays there for a good long while until he finally checks his phone finding missed texts and calls from Hikaru. He checks the messages.
Hey. I heard what Daiki did. If you and the kids need a place you know you can always come to me. I am so sorry about what he did to you. I'll start working on making him pay without affecting your life more than his stupid action did. Please pick up the phone brother we should talk.
Are you okay? Please call me back when you can. I am here for you and the kids. I also got into to contact with our friends from our host club days and they're planning to take action against Daiki too. Don't worry we will make sure that nothing comes your way for this. If you don't answer in a few hours I am coming there myself to check on you. If I see him I will be giving him a good hit and a piece of my mind.
Kaoru doesn't read any further messages and does find it in him to smile slightly at least a little glad to have his brother here for him. He texts back to make sure that his brother doesn't worry much.
Thank you for letting me know. I don't want to talk just yet as I want at least today to process everything and maybe figure out how to talk to the kids. I will talk to you later. Promise.
Kaoru lowers his phone and looks up to the ceiling not actually knowing how he is going to talk to the kids about what is happening. He knows that he and the kids can be secure with money from his side of the family. He just never thought he would have to tell such news to children. He might leave this place so he doesn't have to be reminded of it all though he'll figure out all of the details a little later. He right now wants to just let himself feel his hurt and grief that the one he thought loved him would do such a thing.
