Chapter 87: Tepig's Resolve!
Hello everyone, this chapter will focus on the group reaching another island where Ash trains his Pokémon and meets Tepig's old trainer. I hope you all enjoy it!
The chapter begins the next day after the last chapter ended, we see that the group have reached another island and head to the Pokémon Center where Ash, Misty, and Leaf switched out their Pokémon. Once they do that the group then begin running towards a building as they learned from Nurse Joy that there's a Don George battle club here which made Ash excited because he wants to train his Pokémon. They also wonder if this Don George is the same one that they've met before, but Nurse Joy tells them that just like with her and Officer Jenny there are many of him that look similar but are different people. Nurse Joy then showed them 3 pictures that have multiple Joys, Jenny's and George's in them that all have the same face and body type which surprised the group. We now see that they've made it to the building and head inside. Once they're inside a trainer asks Ash to battle him with Ash agreeing as they head over to a battlefield and begin their battle. We now zoom in on the battlefield and see an explosion as once the explosion clears, we see Ash's Tepig panting heavily with his opponent a Herdier panting heavily too. The 2 mons look at each other as the Herdier trainer speaks.
"Herdier use Hyper Beam to end it!" The Herdier trainer calls as the dog fires a big beam that goes to hit Tepig Ash quickly calls for a command.
"Tepig dodge then use Flame Charge!" Ash calls Tepig quickly jumps to the left and dodges the beam. Tepig then covers his body in fire, runs forward and hits Herdier. Herdier's sent flying a few feet away then lands below his trainers' feet as the boy speaks.
"Herdier!" The boy says in concern as he looks at the dog and sees that it's knocked out. The ref then makes the call.
"Herdier's unable to battle Tepig's the winner!" The ref says as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Alright! Great job Tepig!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu say as Tepig looks at them and smiles. After that Ash along with the other trainer shake hands thanking each other for a good battle. Ash then sprays a Hyper Potion on Tepig and heals his wounds making the pig happy as he then goes back in his Pokeball. Just when the group are about to walk away, they hear an explosion. They look over and see that there's a double battle taking place as Misty speaks.
"Look someone else is battling and they're having a Double Battle" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Let's see one boy is using a Mienshao and Watchog while the other is using an Emboar and Heatmor" Tracey says as Ash along with Leaf bring out their Pokedex's to scan Mienshao, Watchog, and Heatmor.
"Mienshao the Martial Arts Pokémon and a pure fighting type. Mienshao wields the fur on its arms like a whip. Its arm attacks come with such rapidity that they cannot even be seen." "Watchog the Lookout Pokémon and a pure Normal type. Using luminescent matter, it makes its eyes and body glow and stuns attacking opponents." "Heatmor the Anteater Pokémon and a pure Fire type. Using their very hot, flame-covered tongues, they can easily burn through steel" The Pokedex's say as the group then hear an explosion which causes them to look at the battlefield. On the battlefield the smoke clears we see Mienshao and Watchog groaning in pain while Emboar along with Heatmor don't have a scratch on them as their trainer smiles and speaks.
"Come on you're not done yet, are you?" The boy says while having a confident look on his face as the other boy speaks.
"Not yet my Pokémon can still battle!" The boy responds as Mienshao along with Watchog stand back up ready to continue as the other boy speaks.
"Hmmm looks like they can. Okay then I'll let you land a hit on my Pokémon, and I won't have my Pokémon dodge or block" The boy says which surprises the other boy as he speaks.
"Fine by me! Mienshao use Aerial Ace on Emboar and Watchog use Hyper Beam on Heatmor!" The boy calls with his Pokémon nodding. Mienshao shoots forward and hits Emboar hard in the stomach while Watchog fires a Hyper Beam that hits Heatmor creating an explosion. We see the 2-mons sent flying a few feet away and land on their backs as Mienshao's and Watchog's trainer smiles and speaks.
"We did it!" The boy says happily while Mienshao and Watchog smile. Back over at Emboar's and Heatmor's trainer he has a smile on his face and speaks.
"Emboar, Heatmor stand up" The boy says as the 2 mons easily stand back up and wipe away the dust from their bodies. The other boy along with his Mienshao and Watchog are surprised as the boy speaks.
"But how?" The boy questions as the other boy speaks.
"That power isn't enough to defeat my Fire Warriors and now that you attacked it's our turn. Emboar use Heat Crash and Heatmor use Fire Spin!" The boy calls Emboar jumps forward and covers its body in fire while Heatmor fires a spinning flame that combines with Emboar's Heat Crash. Before the other boy can tell his Mienshao and Watchog to dodge Emboar crashes into both of them creating an explosion along with a cloud of smoke. When the smoke clears everyone sees Emboar standing while looking at the unconscious Mienshao and Watchog as Don George speaks.
"Mienshao along with Watchog are unable to battle making Emboar and Heatmor the winners! Seeing as trainer Kylan has no more Pokémon left this means that trainer Shamus is the victor!" Don George says as Shamus smiles while the other trainers clap for him. Off to the side the group clap too as Leaf speaks.
"That Shamus guy defeated his opponents Pokémon easily" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"He must've trained his Emboar and Heatmor well as from a glance I can see that they're well taken care of." Tracey says with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"Maybe I can battle him later" Ash says while having an excited look on his face with Pikachu agreeing as the yellow mouse sparks his cheeks. Meanwhile back on the battlefield Kylan returns his Mienshao and Watchog back to their Pokeballs and tells them thank you. Kylan then sees Shamus in front of him who's holding out his hand and speaks.
"That was a pretty good battle" Shamus says while having a smile on his face as Kylan smiles too and shakes his hand. Shamus then leans in closer to Kylan reaching his right ear then speaks.
"Now that I won make sure that you hold your end of the deal. Meet me in in the hallway in 5 minutes." Shamus whispers with Kylan nodding as he has a nervous look on his face. After that the 2 boys shake hands and begin leaving the area. As they're leaving Ash's about to ask Shamus for a battle but then his stomach growls making the others look at him as he speaks.
"Man, as much as I want to battle, I'm hungry." Ash says as Misty speaks.
"Well, we did just arrive here before having lunch" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Let's head to the cafeteria" Tracey says with the group nodding as they begin to walk. 5 minutes later we see the group walking through a hallway, as they continue to walk, they see Shamus along with Kylan again as Ash speaks.
"Hey, it's that Shamus kid I'm going to go ask for a battle" Ash says just when he's about to do that Leaf speaks.
"Wait Ash it seems like they're talking" Leaf says making Ash stop as he along with the others begin to listen. As they're listening, we come over to Shamus and Kylan. Kylan has his back to the wall scared while Shamus looks at him, having an angry look on his face then speaks.
"What do you mean that you don't want to give me your Pokémon? We had a deal." Shamus asks as Kylan speaks.
"I know but Mienshao and Watchog are my precious partners, so I don't want to part with them." Kylan responds, making Shamus angrier as he speaks.
"I don't care now come on give me your Pokémon as I'll be able to bring out their talents more than you." Shamus says as just when he's about to forcibly take Kylan's Pokeball's the 2 trainers hear a voice.
"Hey!" The voice says making the 2 boys turn around as they see the group who have angry looks on their faces as Shamus speaks.
"What do you guys want?" Shamus asks as Ash speaks.
"We overheard your conversation about wanting to take Kylan's Pokémon" Ash responds as Shamus speaks.
"Okay so why do you care?" Shamus asks as Misty speaks.
"We care because how could you ask someone to casually part ways with their Pokémon after defeating them in a battle?!" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah, it's not right!" Leaf says with Tracey nodding in agreement. Shamus lets out a sigh then speaks.
"Well, I'm sorry if I want this kids Pokémon to go to a trainer that can bring out their talent more as they're wasted on him." Shamus responds, making the group angrier as Ash speaks.
"Well guess what you're not getting his Pokémon and I'll make sure of that!" Ash says while holding a Pokeball and Pikachu sparking his cheeks. Shamus smiles and speaks.
"Fine by me my Fire Warriors will crush you" Shamus says while holding a Pokeball in his hand and having a confident look on his face. Just when the 2 boys are about to battle, they hear a voice.
"Is there something going on here?" The voice asks, making everyone turn their heads as they see Don George Shamus speaks.
"No nothing sir I was just leaving" Shamus responds he then puts his Pokeball away and begins walking away as Misty speaks.
"What a creep" Misty says with the group nodding as Kylan speaks.
"Thank you!" Kylan says with the group nodding as he begins walking away too as Don George speaks.
"I take it that everything here is resolved?" Don George asks with the kids nodding as the man walks away. Once he's gone Ash's stomach growls again as he speaks.
"Man, that confrontation made me hungrier" Ash says as Tracey speaks.
"Well, the Cafeteria is close by so it shouldn't be too long" Tracey says with Ash nodding as they all begin walking towards the cafeteria. A couple minutes later they've made it the 4 kids have grab their food and have put food bowls down for their Pokémon. The 4 kids then pull out their Pokeball's and speak.
"It's time to eat!" The 4 kids say as they throw their Pokeball's high in the air. Tracey's Pokémon are Smeargle, Venomoth, Marill, and Scyther. Leaf's Pokémon are Venusaur, Meowscarada, Poliwrath, Dachsbun, and her Shiny Arctozolt. Misty's Pokémon are Slowpoke, Brionne, Quaxwell, Drizzile, Seadra, and Starmie. Ash's Pokémon are Charizard, Gengar, Muk, Thwackey, and Tepig. The mons all have excited looks on their faces as they go to their respective food bowl and begin to happily eat. Over at the table with the 4 trainers along with Pikachu and Togepi. They're all happily eating their food too with Ash and Leaf eating fast as Ash speaks.
"Man, this food's great!" "I agree" The 2 trainers say as they continue to happily eat while Misty and Tracey look at them. Out of the corner of Misty's eye she sees Shamus a few feet away sitting at a table eating as she speaks.
"Look it's Shamus" Misty says making the others look too, once they do Shamus notices them and sticks his tongue out at them which makes Ash annoyed as Tracey speaks.
"Calm down Ash he's just getting under your skin" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"I know I just find him annoying" Ash responds with the group nodding. Meanwhile, back to the groups Pokémon who're still eating when Tepig heard Misty say the name Shamus he thought that he misheard her. Tepig then looks over at the table a few feet away from the group and sees the boy. Tepig doesn't believe his eyes as he gets a big smile on his face and speaks.
"Tepig!" The fire pig says as he quickly runs over to Shamus. Once he makes it over to the boy Tepig looks at Shamus having a smile on his face and wagging his tail which makes Shamus along with the group confused as Leaf speaks.
"What's gotten into your Tepig Ash?" Leaf asks but the boy doesn't know. Misty thinks for a little bit then remembers something and speaks.
"Wait remember when we first met Tepig we were told that he was abandoned by his previous trainer?" Misty says making the 3 trainers remember as Ash speaks.
"Wait that means that Shamus's Tepig's original trainer!" Ash says with the others nodding as they then go over to where Shamus is. When they make it, Shamus looks at them as Ash speaks.
"Hey are you Tepig's original trainer?" Ash asks, making Shamus confused. He's about to say that he isn't, but he then looks at Tepig again and recognizes it. Shamus has a surprised look on his face then speaks.
"So, it is you looks like you found a new trainer" Shamus says while looking at Tepig with the fire pig nodding as Misty speaks.
"How could you release Tepig?!" Misty asks as Shamus speaks.
"Why does it matter to you? I'm free to do whatever I want with my Pokémon and besides this guy has no talent" Shamus responds as he then picks up Tepig and throws him which surprises the group. Ash quickly manages to safely catch the pig asking him if he's alright with Tepig nodding. Ash then looks at Shamus and speaks.
"Why'd you do that?!" "Yeah! What's wrong with you? And you should apologize to Tepig!" Ash and Leaf say in anger as Shamus speaks.
"Nothing's wrong with me and besides why should I apologize to a Pokémon that brought me nothing but losses." Shamus responds making the group mad as Tracey speaks.
"You know when we first saw Tepig he had a rope around his nose, covered in dirt and was being chased by a group of Pokémon Hunters. If we didn't intervene something terrible could've happened to Tepig." Tracey says as Shamus speaks.
"Okay and I'm supposed to care?" Shamus asks as Leaf speaks.
"You should care! As the rope tied around Tepig's nose made him unable to use his fire type moves so he wasn't able to defend himself!" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"Yeah, you should've released Tepig normally!" Misty says as Shamus lets out a sigh and speaks.
"Well, you see I did release Tepig normally giving him the choice to go off on his own, but he kept trying to follow me, so I tied him to a pole to make him stop. Whatever happened after has nothing to do with me as I was already off the island." Shamus responds as Ash speaks.
"Still, that isn't right Tepig cared for you and wanted to stay with you!" Ash says as Shamus speaks.
"True but if Tepig did stay with me I would continue to lose but now that he's not with me anymore I'm winning more battles thanks to this Emboar that I captured as I haven't lost a single battle yet with it." Shamus responds which makes Tepig sad. Ash sees just how sad Tepig is and just when he's about to say something they then hear a voice.
"How about you all settle this in a battle" The voice says making everyone look as they see Don George who continues to speak.
"By battling you can see which of you is in the right" The man says as Ash then looks at Shamus and speaks.
"Don George's right Shamus let's settle this in a battle and I'll prove to you just how strong Tepig is!" Ash says while having a determined look on his face as Shamus smirks then speaks.
"That's fine with me as it shouldn't take too long to beat you" Shamus says while having a confident look on his face which makes Ash along with his other Pokémon angry as Don George speaks.
"Then it's decided please come to the battlefield in 30 minutes when you're both ready." Don George says with the group nodding as he walks away. Once Don George's gone Shamus stands up from his table, looks at the group again, smiles and begins to walk away as well as Misty speaks.
"What a jerk" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"I can't believe that he doesn't care about Tepig." Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"Me neither" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"Well, that's fine with me because I'm going to show him just how strong Tepig is!" Ash says with his other Pokémon roaring in agreement while Tepig doesn't feel too confident. Ash's other Pokémon notice this as they come over to Tepig, Charizard along with Gengar and Muk tell Tepig about how they were abandoned by their original trainers who viewed them as weak before but after joining Ash they became strong. They also tell Tepig that he's been growing stronger too after joining Ash as well so he shouldn't doubt himself. Tepig looks at them and nods he still doesn't feel too confident, but he'll do his best which makes Ash's other Pokémon smile. Thwackey then tells Tepig that he'll join him in fighting Shamus's Pokémon as he really wants to battle them with Tepig agreeing as he gets serious. Ash can see the fire in Tepig's eyes smiles and speaks.
"Okay since we've some time let's go do some training!" Ash says with his Pokémon agreeing as they head outside to a nearby battlefield and begin to train with the others watching them. 30 minutes later we're back inside the building and see Ash (who has his Pokémon behind him) along with Shamus. They're both on their respective side of the battlefield and are looking at each other. Off to the side we see Misty, Leaf, and Tracey. They look at the battlefield as Don George takes the referee spot looks at both trainers and speaks.
"This is a 2v2 Double battle between Ash and Shamus. Whoever defeats all of their opponents Pokémon first will be declared the winner. Now will both trainers please send out your Pokémon!" Don George says as Shamus pulls out 2 Pokeballs he has a confident look on his face then speaks.
"Come out my Fire Warriors!" Shamus says as he throws the 2 balls forward sending the 2 mons out. Emboar along with Heatmor appear and have serious looks on their faces waiting for their opponents. Off to the side Tracey speaks.
"Here they are" Tracey says with Misty and Leaf nodding. Back on the battlefield Ash looks at Tepig and Thwackey then speaks.
"You 2 ready?" Ash asks with the 2-mons nodding as Ash then looks forward and speaks.
"Okay Tepig, Thwackey I choose you!" Ash says as the 2-mons immediately jump on the battlefield and look at their opponents. Shamus's surprised by Ash's choice as he then begins to laugh.
"Hahahaha, I knew you were going to use Tepig, but you are also using a Thwackey a grass type? Don't you know that you've put yourself at a big disadvantage? There's no way that those 2 are going to beat my Fire Warriors." Shamus says while still continuing to laugh as Ash speaks.
"True my Thwackey may be at a disadvantage when it comes to type but like all of my other Pokémon Thwackey's strong and he along with Tepig will defeat your Emboar and Heatmor!" Ash states as his Pokémon roar in agreement with him. After that Shamus stops laughing as he looks at Ash and speaks.
"You seem pretty confident okay then let's see just how much talent your Pokémon have compared to mine." Shamus says as Emboar along with Heatmor get into a battle stance Ash speaks.
"Don't worry we'll show you!" Ash says with Thwackey nodding as he gets in a battle stance. Tepig's still nervous to battle Shamus and is intimidated by Emboar but Thwackey tells Tepig that it'll be fine as they're fighting together. Tepig looks at Thwackey and nods as he gets in a battle stance too. Off to the side Misty, Leaf, Tracey and Togepi cheer for Ash, Thwackey, and Tepig as Don George speaks.
"Now that both trainers have sent out their Pokémon let the battle begin!" Don George says as Shamus speaks.
"I'll go first Emboar use Flamethrower on Thwackey and Heatmor run forward!" Shamus calls Emboar fires a stream of fire from its mouth while Heatmor runs forward. As the Flamethrower goes to hit Thwackey Ash speaks.
"Tepig quick use your Flamethrower to intercept it!" Ash calls Tepig quickly fires the stream of fire from his nose that connects with Emboar's and explodes. Shamus's a little surprised that Tepig's Flamethrower matched Emboar's but he then recomposes himself as he sees Heatmor appear in front of Tepig then speaks.
"Now use Night Slash!" "Thwackey quick counter with Mega Punch!" Both trainers' call. Heatmor covers its left claws in dark energy and goes to hit Tepig. But Thwackey appears his right fist glows and collides with Heatmor's left claws. Heatmor tries to knock Thwackey away, but Thwackey isn't budging as he manages to easily push Heatmor away making it slide back a few feet away as Shamus speaks.
"Now Heatmor use Aerial Ace!" Shamus calls Heatmor shoots forward at a fast speed and hits Thwackey causing super effective damage to the monkey and making him crash into Tepig as they fall on the ground Ash then speaks.
"Thwackey, Tepig are you okay?!" Ash asks with the 2-mons nodding as they stand back up Shamus speaks.
"Now Emboar use Heat Crash!" Shamus calls Emboar covers his body in fire then jumps forward going to hit Thwackey and Tepig as Ash speaks.
"Quick Dodge then use Flame Charge and Hammer Arm!" Ash calls when Emboar goes to hit the 2 mons Tepig along with Thwackey quickly jump away as Emboar hits the battlefield instead. Tepig then covers his body in fire and begins running forward while Thwackey covers his right arm in white energy and jumps forward. Just when they're about to hit Emboar Shamus speaks.
"Emboar grab them and throw them towards Heatmor!" Shamus calls with Emboar nodding as he grabs Tepig with its right hand and grabs Thwackey's right arm with its left hand. Emboar then spins around and throw the 2 mons towards Heatmor who's building up fire as Shamus speaks.
"Now Heatmor use Fire Blast!" Shamus calls. Heatmor fires a big blast of fire from its mouth it goes to hit Thwackey and Tepig as Ash speaks.
"Thwackey use Wood Hammer to knock it back and Tepig propel yourself off Thwackey then use Flame Charge on Emboar!" Ash calls. Thwackey sees the blast of fire heading for him and Tepig. Thwackey quickly combines his 2 sticks creating a big grassy hammer and connects with the blast of fire. Thwackey struggles a little bit but manages to knock the Fire Blast back towards Heatmor. Tepig then uses Thwackey's back to propel itself towards Emboar while Thwackey's being sent towards Heatmor. Tepig covers his body in fire and goes to hit Emboar as Shamus speaks.
"Heatmor knock the Fire Blast back and Emboar use Hammer Arm on Tepig!" Shamus calls. Heatmor sees the blast of fire coming and easily knocks it away with its left hand then sees Thwackey in front of it with its right fist glowing white. Meanwhile, Emboar sees Tepig heading for it and goes to punch the mon with its right fist as Ash speaks.
"Tepig dodge then hit Emboar and Thwackey hit Heatmor!" Ash calls Tepig manages to easily dodge Emboar's fist by moving to the right and hits Emboar hard in the stomach. Over with Thwackey before Shamus can tell Heatmor to dodge Thwackey punches Heatmor hard in the face. Heatmor along with Emboar are sent flying as they crash on the battlefield a few feet away creating a dust cloud. Thwackey along with Tepig land back on the battlefield as they look forward waiting to see the results. When the dust clears everyone can see that Heatmor along with Emboar are laying on their backs as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Way to go Thwackey and Tepig!" Ash cheers along with his other Pokémon making Thwackey and Tepig smile. Off to the side Ash's friends cheer too as Shamus smirks then speaks.
"Isn't it a bit too early to celebrate?" Shamus asks as Ash looks at him and speaks.
"What do you mean by that? Thwackey along with Tepig took down Heatmor and Emboar" Ash asks as Shamus smirks and speaks.
"Here let me show you. Heatmor, Emboar stand up." Shamus says as the 2 mons instantly stand up and wipe the dust off their bodies showcasing that they don't have a scratch on them. The group all have surprised looks on their faces as Misty speaks.
"It looks like neither Thwackey's nor Tepig's attacks did anything to them." Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"I can understand the Flame Charge not doing much to Emboar, but I was confident that Thwackey's Hammer Arm would've done more to Heatmor." Tracey says as Leaf speaks.
"Me too" Leaf says. Back on the battlefield Ash along with his Pokémon have surprised looks on their faces as Shamus speaks.
"You look surprised, but you should've known that weak attacks like that wouldn't have done anything to my Fire Warriors." Shamus says while having a confident look on his face making Ash grit his teeth as Shamus speaks.
"Now I believe it's my turn to attack. Heatmor use Aerial Ace and Emboar use Hammer Arm!" Shamus calls before Ash can call for a command Heatmor shoots forward and hits Thwackey while Emboar shoots forward too and hits Tepig with its left arm. Both mons are then sent flying as they crash into each other and fall on the ground. Thwackey along with Tepig are groaning in pain as they then see Heatmor along with Emboar heating up their mouths as Shamus speaks.
"Now use Flamethrower!" "Thwackey, Tepig dodge!" Both trainers call Heatmor along with Emboar fire out 2 streams of fire that goes to hit the 2 mons. Thwackey along with Tepig quickly manage to jump out of the way of the blast when they do they see Emboar in front of them. Emboar has both of its arms raised over its head and are covered in white energy as Shamus speaks.
"Now Emboar use Hammer Arm!" "Thwackey block!" Both trainers call when Emboar goes to hit the 2-mons Thwackey appears and manages to catch Emboar's arms which surprises Shamus as he speaks.
"Emboar knock Thwackey away!" "Hold on Thwackey!" Both trainers' call. As Thwackey continues to hold Emboar's arms the fire pig pushes down harder making it more difficult for Thwackey, but the grass monkey continues to keep Emboar's arms at bay. Tepig looks at Thwackey and is impressed but he then notices Heatmor heating up its mouth as Shamus speaks.
"Heatmor use Fire Blast!" Shamus calls as Heatmor fires a big blast of fire that goes to hit Thwackey as Ash speaks.
"Tepig quick intercept it with Flamethrower!" Ash calls Tepig quickly fires the stream of fire with his nose as it connects with the Fire Blast. Once the 2 attacks connect Heatmor's Fire Blast begins to easily push the Flamethrower back as Shamus speaks.
"Did you really think that weak Flamethrower was going to work?" Shamus says while having a confident look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Come on Tepig!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk cheer. Back on the battlefield Tepig hears their cheers and even though pushing the Fire Blast back is difficult Tepig won't give up. Tepig gets a determined look on his face then yells.
"Tepig!" Tepig as he increases the power of his Flamethrower more making it burn more intensely and grow stronger as it begins to push the Fire Blast back. Shamus's surprised then speaks.
"Heatmor what are you doing?! Don't let that weak flame beat you! Add more power!" Shamus yells as Heatmor increases the power of its Fire Blast with Tepig increasing the power of his Flamethrower. The 2 moves go back and forth for a little bit until Tepig's Flamethrower manages to overpower the Fire Blast and is now sending it back towards Heatmor which surprises Heatmor and Shamus as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, great job Tepig!" Ash cheers as when the Fire Blast/Flamethrower is about to hit Heatmor Shamus speaks.
"Heatmor dodge!" Shamus calls as Heatmor manages to narrowly avoid the attack, but it does graze the mon. The attack keeps going as it then crashes into the wall behind Shamus creating an explosion. When the explosion clears everyone can see a big burn mark on the wall, Shamus is surprised he then looks forward and sees Emboar still struggling with Thwackey and speaks.
"Emboar use Flamethrower!" Shamus calls Emboar heats up its mouth and is about to fire the move as Ash speaks.
"I don't think so! Thwackey use Low Kick then Drain Punch!" Ash calls before Emboar can launch the flames Thwackey kicks Emboar's left leg with his right foot which causes Emboar to trip. As Emboar's falling forward Thwackey's right fist glows and uppercuts Emboar making the fire pig groan in pain and cancel the Flamethrower. Thwackey also takes away some of Emboar's energy and heals himself as Ash speaks.
"Now Thwackey throw Emboar at Heatmor!" Ash calls Thwackey quickly grabs Emboar's right arm with both of his hands and throws the mon towards Heatmor. Heatmor's unable to dodge in time as Emboar crashes into the mon causing them both to fall on the ground. After that Tepig begins heating up his nose as Ash speaks.
"Now Tepig use Flamethrower!" Ash calls before Shamus can call for a command Tepig fires a big Flamethrower that hits both Emboar and Heatmor creating an explosion. A couple seconds later the explosion clears, and everyone can see Heatmor and Emboar. The 2 mons groan a little in pain but stand up and they now have some scratches on their bodies as Ash speaks.
"Looks like that did some damage but it wasn't enough." Ash says to himself as Shamus chuckles and speaks.
"I'll admit that was a good attempt and you had me worried for a second there, but your Pokémon's attacks barely did any damage to my Fire Warriors." Shamus says as Ash speaks.
"That may be the case but the next attack that my Pokémon land will do more damage than before!" Ash states with Thwackey and Tepig nodding making Shamus smirk as he speaks.
"Heh, I doubt that now then let's continue. Heatmor use Flamethrower and Emboar run forward!" Shamus calls Heatmor fires the stream of fire while Emboar runs forward Ash speaks.
"Thwackey, Tepig back away from the Flamethrower!" Ash calls with the 2-mons nodding as they quickly back away dodging the attack. Once they do Shamus smirks and speaks.
"Now Heatmor turn that into a Fire Spin!" Shamus calls as Heatmor has its Flamethrower continue going after Thwackey and Tepig then spins around them creating a big vortex of fire. Thwackey along with Tepig look around as they see that they're trapped in the move and are taking some damage. Tepig asks Thwackey if he's okay with the grass monkey nodding saying he is. A couple seconds later Emboar bursts into the Fire Spin surprising the 2 mons as Shamus speaks.
"Emboar use Flamethrower on Tepig then Hammer arm on Thwackey!" Shamus calls before Ash can call for a command Emboar covers its mouth in fire and fires a big stream of fire that hits Tepig sending the mon out of the Fire Spin and landing on the battlefield a few feet away. Emboar then covers its left arm in white energy and backhands Thwackey with it also sending the grass monkey out of the Fire Spin and landing back on the battlefield a few feet away. A few seconds later the Fire Spin disappears as Ash speaks.
"Thwackey, Tepig! Are you okay?!" Ash asks in worry as both mons begin trying to stand back up. Off to the side Tracey speaks.
"Having Heatmor turn its Flamethrower into a Fire Spin to trap Thwackey along with Tepig inside so that Emboar can surprise them and hit them. I hate to admit it but that was a very smart idea from Shamus." Tracey says as Leaf speaks.
"But now Thwackey and Tepig are heavily injured it's not looking too good for Ash right now." Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"True but Ash along with his Pokémon will somehow pull through I just know it." Misty says with Leaf and Tracey nodding as they continue to look at the battlefield. Back on the battlefield Thwackey along with Tepig continue struggling to stand back up as Shamus speaks.
"Hah! Look at them struggling to stand back up it's just as I thought these Pokémon are nothing compared to mine!" Shamus says while having a confident look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Don't get too confident the battle's not over yet my Pokémon and I can still turn this around!" Ash states while having a determined look on his face as Shamus speaks.
"Oh, please you have to be joking there's just no way you actually think you can win. Your Pokémon have taken more damage than mine and honestly, I don't know why you decided to battle with 2 non fully evolved Pokémon against my Emboar and Heatmor when you would've had a much better chance at using those other ones next to you." Shamus says while looking at Ash's Charizard, Gengar, and Muk as Ash speaks.
"While it's true that the battle would've been a lot easier if I'd used my other Pokémon, I decided to not use them as I believed that Tepig along with Thwackey can defeat your Pokémon and I still do!" Ash states while having a determined look on his face with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk agreeing with him as they believe in the 2-mons too. Shamus looks at Ash's eyes and sees just how determined he is then scoffs as he speaks.
"Hmph with that kind of thinking you'll never beat me as when it comes to Pokémon battles the Pokémon with the most talent is the winner and I'll show it to you." Shamus says while looking at Tepig then calls for his commands.
"Now then I believe it's time that I get rid of that talentless Tepig Emboar use Heat Crash and Heatmor use Fire Spin!" Shamus calls Emboar covers its body in fire while Heatmor shoots out a fiery vortex that combines with the Heat Crash. After that Emboar then jumps forward heading for Tepig as Ash speaks.
"Tepig quick get out of there!" Ash calls when Tepig goes to dodge he can't as he looks at the incoming Emboar gets scared then freezes in place which surprises Ash as Shamus speaks.
"Hahahahaha! Just like I thought you do lack talent! Now Emboar finish it!" "Tepig quick get out of there!" Both trainers call Ash's Pokémon along with Misty, Leaf, and Tracey call for Tepig to dodge but the pig just stands there. Tepig wants to dodge but can't as it's too scared and is starting to believe that what Shamus said about him is true as he's now going to cost the battle for Ash. Just when Emboar's about to crash onto Tepig everyone hears a voice.
"THWACKEY!" The voice yells as suddenly Thwackey appears and manages to push Tepig out of the way, surprising everyone. Thwackey then looks at the incoming Emboar puts his hands forward and collides with the mon as Shamus speaks.
"What the?!" Shamus says while having a shocked look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Yeah! Great job Thwackey!" Ash along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk cheer. Tepig looks at Thwackey and is surprised then speaks.
"Tepig, pig, Tepig!" Tepig tells Thwackey to get out of the way as he doesn't want him to get hurt as Thwackey speaks.
"Thwackey, Thwackey!" Thwackey tells Tepig that he's not moving out of the way which surprises Tepig. Tepig's about to respond back but Thwackey tells Tepig that back in the Safari Zone when he was a Grookey he lacked talent as well since the other Grookey's had more than him when it came to music and battles. But after meeting Krookodile, Skeledirge, and Misty's Quaxwell they helped him with his drumming making him good at it and keeping up with the beat. Then after joining Ash, he trained hard every day with not just Ash's grass types but also his other Pokémon and managed to evolve into a Thwackey. Thwackey then tells Tepig that neither he, Ash, nor any of Ash's other Pokémon believe that Tepig is talentless and even if he is he worked hard to get the strength and power he has now. Thwackey also tells Tepig that even though he's a grass type he'll showcase that he's capable of taking on a fire type Pokémon. Once Thwackey's done he looks at Tepig and smiles with Tepig looking at him, meanwhile Shamus's getting annoyed then speaks.
"Emboar what are you doing?! Crush that Thwackey already! And Heatmor add more power to your Fire Spin!" Shamus says with both mons nodding as Heatmor along with Emboar begin increasing the power of their moves and begin to push Thwackey down making the floor beneath the monkey crack a little bit. Thwackey then stops looking at Tepig as he then puts his focus back onto Emboar who's now increased its power. Thwackey's slowly starting to get pushed back as Ash speaks.
"Come on Thwackey you can do it!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk cheer for the mon while Tepig continues to watch. Thwackey hears their cheers he then notices that his hands are starting to burn from the fire, Thwackey groans in pain but then gets a determined look on his face as he doesn't want to lose this battle and show Tepig that even if you're talentless you can still amount to something. Thwackey continues struggling with the Heat Crash just when it looks like the attack is going to overpower him Thwackey yells.
"THWAC! KEYYYYY!" Thwackey lets out a loud yell as he then glows a bright white which surprises everyone as Leaf speaks.
"I don't believe it Thwackey's" Just when Leaf's about to finish Misty speaks.
"Evolving" Misty says as back on the battlefield everyone continues to watch Thwackey glow as his body begins to change. Thwackey grows bigger, his fur becomes green, with his skin turning a light brown, and a wooden drum set appears on his back. When the light disappears what was once a Thwackey is now a Rillaboom who continues his struggle with the Heat Crash. Everyone's shocked as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Amazing Rillaboom you evolved! And it looks like you learned some new moves too" Ash says while looking at his Pokedex as he then calls for his command.
"Okay Rillaboom push Emboar away!" Ash calls with Rillaboom nodding as he roars and manages to easily throw Emboar away who lands next to Heatmor. Shamus has a surprised look on his face as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Whoa! Amazing Rillaboom!" Ash cheers along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk. Meanwhile, on the battlefield Tepig's surprised that Thwackey evolved, Rillaboom then looks over at Tepig and smiles at him with Tepig smiling too. On the other side of the battlefield Shamus quickly recomposes himself and speaks.
"Your Thwackey evolving surprised me, but you'll still need more than that!" Shamus says as everyone sees Emboar stand back up it groans a little in pain but is still ready to battle as Shamus speaks.
"As you can see my Emboar can still continue and even though your Thwackey evolved I can still see myself winning!" Shamus says while having a confident look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Sorry but that's not happening as Rillaboom and Tepig will win!" Ash states as Shamus speaks.
"Now that your Thwackey evolved I can understand why you think that, but you still believe in that talentless Tepig?" Shamus asks as Ash speaks.
"Of course, I believe in Tepig he's one of my Pokémon and I believe in all of them whether they're talentless or not!" Ash states with his Pokémon agreeing with him as Shamus rolls his eyes Ash continues to speak.
"And besides the only reason Tepig hasn't been giving it 100 percent is because even though you released him, he still remembers the good times of when you were his trainer so it's hard for him to fight back." Ash says with Tepig agreeing with him as Shamus speaks.
"Really now is that so? Well then, I wonder how he'll feel once he hears how I felt after I released him." Shamus says making Ash confused as Ash speaks.
"What do you mean by that it was obvious that you were sad right?" Ash asks as Shamus speaks.
"Actually, I wasn't sad when I released Tepig" Shamus responds surprising everyone as Ash speaks.
"You weren't?!" Ash asks, with Shamus nodding as he speaks.
"Yeah, I only faked being sad about releasing Tepig to make him think that I wasn't happy with the decision I made but in actuality I was overjoyed as I finally gotten rid of the very thing that kept making me lose." Shamus says surprising everyone especially Tepig as Ash speaks.
"Releasing Tepig is one thing but actually faking to be sad is just worse you're nothing but scum!" Ash states with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, Muk, Rillaboom, his friends, and even Don George agreeing with him as Shamus speaks.
"Like I care what you think besides in just a few more moves I'll win this battle." Shamus says as Ash speaks.
"That's not happening as I refuse to lose to a guy like you! Rillaboom, Tepig let's do this!" Ash states with Rillaboom nodding as he gets in a battle stance. Meanwhile with Tepig he can't believe he heard what Shamus said about faking his sadness of leaving Tepig behind. After all of the times that Tepig thought he wasn't good enough for Shamus when in reality Shamus wasn't good enough for him. Tepig gets angry he wants to prove Shamus wrong, and he'll showcase that by winning this battle. Tepig then lets out a loud yell.
"TEPIGGGG!" Tepig yells as he also glows a bright white too surprising everyone as Shamus speaks.
"It's evolving too?!" Shamus says while having a surprised look on his face as everyone looks at Tepig changing. Tepig grows bigger and is now standing upright. Once the light goes away what was once a Tepig is now a Pignite who yells.
"PIGNITE!" Pignite lets out a loud yell then looks forward having a serious look on his face as Misty speaks.
"I wasn't expecting Pignite to evolve too" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Hearing Shamus say that he was happy about releasing him must've made Tepig realize that he shouldn't hold back anymore and wants to prove just how much stronger he's gotten." Tracey says with Misty nodding as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah! GO! Pignite!" "Prr!" Leaf along with Togepi cheer. Back on the battlefield Ash's surprised but then smiles and speaks.
"Congrats on evolving Pignite so are you ready to show just how much stronger you've gotten?!" Ash asks as Pignite looks at Ash and nods making the boy smile as he speaks.
"Okay let's do this!" Ash says with Rillaboom and Pignite nodding as they both get into battle stances Shamus speaks.
"Just because your Tepig evolved means nothing my Fire Warriors are still stronger than your Pokémon! Now use Flamethrower!" Shamus calls Emboar along with Heatmor cover their mouths in fire and launch the 2 streams of fire that combine into one as Ash speaks.
"Rillaboom use Hammer Arm to destroy the Flamethrower and Pignite use Flame Charge on Emboar!" Ash calls Rillaboom raises both of his arms, covers them in white energy and roars as he slams them down on the combined Flamethrower and easily destroys it. Pignite then covers his body in fire shoots forward and hits Emboar hard in the stomach making the mon cough in pain as it's then sent sliding back a few feet away. Once Emboar stops it groans a little in pain which surprises Shamus as Ash speaks.
"Great job Pignite!" Ash cheers along with his other Pokémon making Pignite smile he then gets a speed increase as Shamus speaks.
"Don't get too cocky! Heatmor use Aerial Ace on Pignite!" Shamus calls Heatmor, shoots forward and goes to hit Pignite as Ash speaks.
"Rillaboom help Pignite out with your new move use Drum Beating!" Ash calls Rillaboom quickly pulls out the wooden Drum on his back then places it on the ground. Rillaboom quickly pulls out 2 sticks and begins beating them on the drum. Once he does suddenly 2 large vines appear from the ground and grab Heatmor before it could hit Pignite. The vines then begin to squeeze Heatmor tightly making the mon groan in pain as Pignite looks over at Rillaboom and tells the mon thank you with Rillaboom smiling as Shamus speaks.
"THAT'S IT I'VE HAD ENOUGH! EMBOAR USE HEAT CRASH ON PIGNITE AND HEATMOR USE FIRE BLAST ON RILLABOOM!" Shamus calls when the 2 mons go to use their moves Ash speaks.
"Oh no you don't! Pignite use Fire Pledge and Rillaboom pull Heatmor close and use Swords Dance!" Ash calls Pignite roars as he punches his right fist on the ground that summons multiple large pillars of fire that surround Emboar and explode causing damage and making the mon stop using Heat Crash. Meanwhile, Rillaboom continues to beat on his drums as he commands his vines to pull Heatmor closer to him. As Heatmor's getting pulled it's unable to use Fire Blast as it then looks forward seeing Rillaboom increase his attack power sharply and has his right fist ready as Ash speaks.
"Okay Pignite, Rillaboom let's end this! Rillaboom use Hammer Arm on Heatmor and Pignite use Flame Charge on Emboar!" Ash calls before Shamus can tell his Pokémon to dodge Heatmor's about to come into contact with Rillaboom as the drummer Pokémon's right fist glows right and punches Heatmor hard in the stomach making the mon cough in pain as it's then sent flying. Over to Pignite the mon covers his body in fire shoots forward and hits Emboar hard in the chest sending the mon flying too. Emboar along with Heatmor continue to fly until they both crash into the wall behind Shamus creating a dust cloud as Shamus speaks.
"Emboar, Heatmor!" Shamus calls as when the dust clears everyone can see the 2-mons stuck in the wall then a couple seconds later they both fall on the ground and are knocked out. Don George then makes the call.
"Emboar and Heatmor are unable to battle Pignite and Rillaboom are the winners! Seeing as contestant Shamus has no more Pokémon left contestant Ash is the winner of the battle!" Don George says as Ash gets a big smile on his face and speaks.
"Alright!" Ash cheers along with his Pokémon and off to the side his friends cheer too. On the battlefield Pignite along with Rillaboom look at each other smile and do a fist bump. Ash along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk run on the battlefield reaching Pignite and Rillaboom. Once they reach them, they give the 2 mons a hug as Ash speaks.
"You guys did it! I knew you could and congratulations again on evolving!" Ash says with his other Pokémon saying the same thing making Pignite and Rillaboom smile. Pignite then fires a Flamethrower in the air in victory with Charizard joining in, Rillaboom flexes his muscles with Ash, Pikachu, Gengar, and Muk doing the same. As Ash continues to celebrate with his Pokémon on the other side of the battlefield Shamus is surprised that his lost then recomposes himself as he returns Emboar and Heatmor back to their Pokeball's. Once he does, he then begins walking over to Ash and his Pokémon. Ash along with his Pokémon stop celebrating and see Shamus walking towards them. Once Shamus gets close enough, he looks at them and speaks.
"Well, you really did beat me" Shamus says as he then looks at Pignite and speaks.
"Looks like I made the wrong choice in releasing you Pignite I'm sorry that I didn't see your talent sooner. Can you forgive me?" Shamus says apologetically as Misty speaks.
"I wasn't expecting him to actually apologize" Misty says with Leaf and Tracey agreeing. Back on the battlefield Pignite looks at Shamus and smiles accepting his apology which makes Shamus happy as he speaks.
"Thank you Pignite!" Shamus says with Pignite nodding as Shamus then speaks.
"Now that I apologized how about coming back with me" Shamus says surprising the group as Ash speaks.
"You can't be serious" Ash says as Shamus speaks.
"Oh, I'm very serious I may not have seen Pignite's talent before but now that I've lost to him, I feel as though I can draw out more of his talent. So, what do you say Pignite come back with me, and we can continue winning together." Shamus says while looking at Pignite and holding out his hand. Pignite thinks for a little bit, looks at Shamus and smiles as Shamus speaks.
"That's right I knew you'd come back to me" Shamus says happily but then a couple seconds later Pignite fires a Flamethrower that completely covers him. When the flames go away Shamus's completely covered in black and coughs up some smoke as Pignite then stands next to Ash as Ash speaks.
"Looks like Pignite says that he wants to stay with me" Ash says with Pignite nodding. This makes Shamus angry as he speaks.
"Fine! Have it your way I don't want a talentless Pignite like you anyway! I'm out of here!" Shamus says as he then walks away. Once Shamus's gone the others walk over to Ash as Misty speaks.
"In the end he was still a jerk" Misty says with the others nodding as Ash speaks.
"True but I'm happy that I battled him as he helped my Pokémon grow stronger." Ash says while looking at Rillaboom and Pignite then speaks.
"Let's keep working hard together and win the Orange League!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding as they along with Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Muk let out a loud cheer. The others look at them cheering as the chapter comes to an end.

It was pretty similar to the actual episode from the anime, but I did try to differentiate it a bit. Tepig evolving was pretty obvious but were you guys expecting Thwackey to evolve? Also, for those wondering Shamus isn't going to be returning in this series as this'll be his final appearance but I'll probably have him make a cameo later on.
Next chapter will come out next week it'll focus on the gang reaching an uninhabited island that's filled with rocks where Ash decides to train his Pokémon. He also reunites with Rinto again and battles him too.
