Chapter 83: The Water Fighter Showdown
Hello everyone, this chapter will mainly focus on the group reaching an island called Ascorbia Island where they meet a firefighter team of Wartortle's and reunite with the Squirtle Squad I hope you all enjoy!
Our chapter begins 2 days after the last one ended. During this time, it's mainly been relaxing for the group as after their encounter with the Hexagon Brothers they haven't run into any trouble. Leaf during this time has been on a catching spree catching many shiny Pokémon. The shiny Pokémon she's caught after catching her shiny Chinchou from the last chapter have been a shiny Horsea, Marill, Tentacool, Golden, Seaking, Wooper, and a Mantyke which eluded her for 2 hours straight, but Leaf managed to catch it in the end. Tracey during this time continues to do sketches on the group's journey throughout the Orange Islands and continues to do his Pokémon Watcher job by not only observing the group's Pokémon but also the wild Pokémon that they come across.
Misty during this time continues to train her Pokémon for the upcoming Mandarin Island tournament as she received a message from Lana stating that she's going to enter too making Misty more motivated to train. Also, after Misty's Palafin and Brionne evolved Misty's sisters have been using them a lot in water ballet shows and have even created a sequel of the Finizen play that the group saw back in Fuchsia City. Her sister's also love using Misty's Milotic and Seadra for the water shows too but also make sure that they continue their training as well. Togepi has also begun to slowly improve too as with the help of Misty's Pokémon along with Ash's Clefable Togepi has mastered Fairy Wind, Tackle and has learned Calm Mind along with Hyper Voice. Metronome is still a tricky move to use as 90% of the time it doesn't give a move that Misty wants but Misty doesn't mind as they're still working on it.
Ash during this time continues to train his Pokémon, making sure that they're ready for the next gym challenge and whatever battle they face next. After Ash's lost to Leaf Ash along with his Pokémon have been taking their training seriously but of course they do try to take a break every now and then. Ash's Krookodile during this time asked Leaf's shiny Krookodile to train him as he feels as though if he trained with her, he'll grow stronger. Leaf's Krookodile accepted and the two have been having intense training sessions. After Ash's Meowscarada evolved she has gotten a lot stronger and is a great training partner for the rest of Ash's grass types. But whenever Meowscarada isn't battling she helps Delia and Mr. Mime do cleaning, cooking, and taking care of the garden. Meowscarada also learned how to bake from Delia as Meowscarada knows that Torracat loves sweets and wanted to make some for him. Of course, Meowscarada doesn't bake sweets for just Torracat (though most of the time she does) but for everyone else as well. Luxray after evolving has become stronger as well as she continues to train with Raichu in trying to increase the power of her electric type moves. Seismitoad after evolving has gotten a lot stronger and continues to train a lot with Ash's water and ground types. Seismitoad also tends to train with Riolu as Riolu feels that training with Ash's Seismitoad will benefit her whenever she gets the chance to battle Paul's Seismitoad and defeat it.
Next, we go to Ash's new captures Snorlax and Tepig. Snorlax for the most part does what any Snorlax does and tends to eat and sleep a lot. Snorlax has also created a bond with Dartrix, Skeledirge, Dunsparce, Meltan, Tyrantrum, and Dracovish as they always eat and sleep together. Now even though Snorlax can be lazy when it comes to training it's no slouch as it's a great training partner for Ash's Pokémon that live there. One-time Snorlax had an intense battle with Ash's Gyarados that destroyed some parts of the ranch (they didn't hurt any Pokémon) and it ended in a tie impressing everyone there. Ash's newly caught Tepig has been receiving great training from Ash's fire types and is growing stronger at a fast rate. Tepig has already mastered Flamethrower thanks to Charizard, Skeledirge and Arcanine He also learned/mastered Flame Charge thanks to Torracat, Charcadet, Blaze and Pyroar. Tepig has also learned with many other moves as well. Out of all the fire types Tepig tends to be with Charizard a lot as he respects not only Charizard's strength but also who Charizard is as a Pokémon. Tepig hanging with Charizard a lot also meant that he became great friends with Ash's shiny Dratini too as they tend to play/train a lot together. With the update out of the way we now close in on the group as they reached an island called Ascorbia Island. Lapras stops next to a port allowing the group to get off her back as Ash looks at Lapras and speaks.
"Thanks for the ride Lapras now take a good rest" Ash says with Lapras nodding as Misty speaks.
"It's been a while since we've stopped at a town" Misty says with Ash and Tracey nodding as Ash speaks.
"Hey where's Leaf?" Ash asks the group look for her a couple seconds as they then see Leaf wearing binoculars and is looking around as Ash speaks.
"Leaf what are you doing?" Ash asks as Leaf speaks.
"I'm looking for shiny Pokémon obviously you never know when one will appear" Leaf responds as she continues to look around Ash speaks.
"I think maybe it was a bad thing that she got that Shiny Charm" Ash says with Pikachu, Misty, Tracey, and even Togepi agreeing. After that the group then see some people running as Misty speaks.
"I wonder where they're going?" Misty questions as Leaf speaks.
"Did they find a shiny Pokémon?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.
"You're too obsessed with Shiny Pokémon" Misty says making Leaf confused as Tracey then smells something and speaks.
"This smell I believe that there's a fire!" Tracey says surprising the group as Ash speaks.
"Let's go help!" Ash says with the others nodding as they begin running to where the fire is. 2 minutes later they make it and see a big crowd of people that're staring at the burning building as Misty speaks.
"How horrible" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"I'm going to go put it out!" "Me too!" Ash and Leaf say as they begin running forward Tracey speaks.
"Ash, Leaf wait it's too dangerous!" Tracey says as Misty then hands Tracey Togepi and speaks.
"I'm going too!" Misty says as she runs forward and joins Ash and Leaf. The 3 kids are now staring at the fire as Ash speaks.
"Okay let's do this! Wartortle, Dracovish, Seismitoad, Aqua, and Croconaw I choose you!" Ash says he throws the 5 balls forward sending the 5 mons out as Misty speaks.
"Vaporeon, Palafin, Quaxwell, Starmie, Brionne and Psyduck come out!" Misty says as she throws the 6 balls forward sending the 6 mons out as Leaf speaks.
"Poliwrath, Walrein, Drednaw, Dewgong, Jellicent, and Chinchou go!" Leaf says she throws the 6 balls forward and sends out the 6 mons. The groups Pokémon look at the fire as their trainers call for their commands.
"Use Water Gun and Hydro Pump!" The 3 trainers call the 17-mons fire their moves at the burning building. As they continue to fire their moves the fire is starting to die down as Ash speaks.
"Yeah! That's it keep going!" Ash cheers with his along Misty's and Leaf's Pokémon agreeing as they continue to put out the fire. Off to the side Tracey along with the other bystanders are happy but Tracey then looks at the building next to it and sees smoke coming out of it. Tracey gets a concerned look on his face and yells.
"Ash, Misty, Leaf the second building's about to explode get out of there!" Tracey yells causing the 3 kids to look back as the second building then explodes. Once it does some of the debris goes to hit Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Leaf and Ash's Wartortle as Tracey yells.
"Look Out!" Tracey yells just when the groups other Pokémon are about to step in suddenly a fire truck carrying multiple Wartortle arrives. The Wartortle's shoot forward and manage to easily save the 3 kids along with Ash's Pikachu and Wartortle. Once they do Ash's Wartortle looks at the Wartortle (who's wearing an orange scarf) that saved it the mon has a smile on its face as Ash speaks.
"Those are Wartortle" Ash says with Misty and Leaf nodding the groups Pokémon quickly run over to their respective trainer asking if they're okay with the 3 kids saying that they're. Suddenly a man in a fire fighter uniform appears next to them and speaks.
"Are you kids, okay?" The man asks with the group nodding as the man speaks.
"Good. You kids did well but we'll take care of things from here" The man says with the 3 kids and their Pokémon nodding as the man looks forward and speaks.
"Use Water Gun!" The man says as he then blows into a whistle the moment, he does the Wartortle get into a lined formation and fire a combined Water Gun that begins to put out the fire. Once they do that, they begin to easily put the rest of the fire out as Tracey appears and speaks.
"Look at that teamwork" Tracey says with the group nodding as their Pokémon begin to cheer the Wartortle on except for Ash's Wartortle who just stares. 5 minutes later the fire is then finally put out allowing the crowd of people to leave except for the group along with the man and the Wartortle. The group look at the man as Ash speaks.
"You really saved us back there thank you" Ash says with Misty and Leaf saying the same thing as the man speaks.
"The ones you should be saying thank you to is not me but them. This is Team Wartortle" The man says as the Wartortle do a salute as the man continues to speak.
"And I'm their captain, Captain Aidan" Aidan says as he does a salute too. The group do a salute as well and begin to introduce themselves.
"My name's Ash" "I'm Misty" "I'm Leaf" "And I'm Tracey" The 4 kids say as their Pokémon also do a salute and introduce themselves too making Aidan along with the Wartortle smile. As the Pokémon are saluting Ash's Wartortle glares at the leader Wartortle as Ash speaks.
"Hey Aidan, how did you get the Wartortle to work so well as a team?" Ash asks as Aidan speaks.
"Oh, I can show you at our training camp come on" Aidan says with the group nodding as they return their Pokémon other than Pikachu, Togepi, and Wartortle (who tells Ash that it wants to stay out). They all then get inside the fire truck and begin heading towards the Fire Station. Once they're gone hidden behind a building, we see a man as he speaks.
"Darn if it wasn't for those brats appearing Aidan along with his Wartortle's would've been gone but no matter as there's another place that I can use these explosives on" The man says while having a sinister smile on his face as he looks at the explosives he has then walks away. 10 minutes later we're now back with the group as they've reached the fire station and head towards the training grounds. Once they do they see fire fighter teams that not only consists of the Squirtle line but also teams of Vaporeon, Golduck, Marill/Azumarill, Kingler, Tentacruel and Quagsire. The group look at the teams and are amazed as Tracey speaks.
"Look at all of these different firefighting teams!" Tracey says as he begins to happily sketch them Aidan speaks.
"Yes, each team here has their own unique way of fighting fires. Team Blastoise can fire big Hydro Pumps that can put out any fire, Team Vaporeon has the ability to move through narrow spaces in order to save people that are trapped inside, and Team Golduck can use their psychic abilities to put out any flame. But out of all of them my Team Wartortle is the best as they not only have the fire power of a Blastoise but are also able to fit through tiny spaces like a Squirtle making them the ultimate fire fighting force" Aidan says with the group nodding as they see Aidan's Wartortle's currently doing laps around the field. Ash's Wartortle looks at them and isn't impressed as he feels as though that if his old Squirtle Squad team were here they'd easily beat Team Wartortle. Once Wartortle thinks that he looks towards his left and sees 4 Squirtle's wearing black jackets with an Officer Jenny next to them. Wartortle doesn't believe his eyes as he gets a big smile on his face and speaks.
"War!" Wartortle says happily as he begins running towards the Squirtle and Officer Jenny as Ash speaks.
"Wartortle wait!" Ash says as he along with the group begin running after it. Meanwhile with the Jenny and the Squirtle's Jenny speaks.
"Okay let's try hitting the target again" Jenny says with the Squirtle's nodding as they're about to continue their training they then hear a voice.
"War!" The voice says making them turn around as they see Ash's Wartortle running towards them Jenny speaks.
"Why's their a Wartortle running toward us?" Jenny questions while the Squirtle's look at the Wartortle. As Wartortle's getting closer the Squirtle's now recognize him as their old leader as they smile. Once Wartortle reaches them they all greet each other by slapping their tails together as Jenny takes a closer look at Wartortle and speaks.
"Wait this Wartortle isn't it's trainer-" Just when Jenny's about to finish her thought she then hears a voice.
"Wartortle!" The voice says Jenny looks forward and sees the group along with Aidan and his Wartortle run over to them as Jenny smiles and speaks.
"I was right it's you!" Jenny says happily as when the group make it Ash and Misty look at the Squirtle's and Jenny then get surprised looks on their faces as they speak.
"It's Officer Jenny and the Squirtle Squad!" The 2 kids say making Leaf and Tracey confused as they speak.
"The Squirtle Squad?" The 2 kids say as Misty looks at them and speaks.
"Oh, that's right you guys weren't with us you see back then when Ash's Wartortle was a Squirtle it along with these Squirtle's were delinquents always causing trouble in a nearby town. But after helping stop a fire that Team Rocket created that Squirtle Squad became that town's new fire fighters" Misty says with Leaf and Tracey nodding as Leaf speaks.
"Now that I think about it, I think either you or Ash told me that story before" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"Wait if they became the new fire fighters for the town how come Ash's Wartortle didn't stay with them?" Tracey asks as Misty speaks.
"I don't know the exact details but Wartortle at the time felt as though being a fire fighter wasn't his true calling and wanted to join Ash instead as he felt as though Ash can help make him stronger" Misty responds with Tracey nodding as they then look at Wartortle playing with his old teammates as Ash speaks.
"I wasn't expecting to see you or the Squirtle Squad here" Ash says with Jenny nodding as she speaks.
"Yes, well you see the Squirtle Squad have been having trouble putting out fires lately. So, wanting to become better fire fighters we came here to train with Aidan's Team Wartortle and so far, the training has been helpful" Jenny says with Ash nodding as Aidan speaks.
"Yes, the Squirtle Squad have certainly improved but they still need more training before they're on Team Wartortle's level" Aidan says with Jenny along with the Squirtle's nodding. But this doesn't sit right with Ash's Wartortle as he feels as though his old team is better than Team Wartortle. Wartortle pulls out his sunglasses puts them on walks over to the leader of Aidan's Wartortle's and speaks.
"War, war, tortle, war, war!" Wartortle says with the leader Wartorle nodding as Ash speaks.
"Um what's going on here?" Ash asks as Tracey speaks.
"This is just a guess but going off of your Wartortle's hand gestures and attitude I'm guessing that he wants to prove that the Squirtle Squad is better by challenging Team Wartortle to a competition." Tracey says surprising everyone as Ash looks at Wartortle and speaks.
"Is that true Wartortle?" Ash asks with the turtle nodding as it looks at the leader Wartortle Jenny speaks.
"What do you think Aidan do you want to have a competition between my Squirtle Squad and your Team Wartortle?" Jenny asks as Aidan smiles and speaks.
"Sounds good to me as it'll be a great warm up for when we go against each other in the Fire and Rescue Grand Prix" Aidan says with Jenny nodding as she then looks at Ash and speaks.
"Hey Ash if it's alright with you can your Wartortle lead the Squirtle Squad again?" Jenny asks as Ash speaks.
"Sure, I don't mind as I'm sure that's what Wartortle wants" Ash says with Wartortle nodding making Jenny smile as Aidan speaks.
"Okay then let's head back to the training field!" Aidan says with the group nodding as they head back. Once they make it Team Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad are on a racetrack as Misty speaks.
"So, the first test is a race" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Logically speaking since Wartortle are the fully evolved version of Squirtle they should in theory be much faster" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"That may be true, but the Squirtle Squads got spirit and now that Wartortle's back to leading them they can definitely win!" Ash says as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah! Go! Squirtle Squad!" "Pi, Pikachu!" "Prr!" Leaf along with Pikachu and Togepi cheer as Aidan speaks.
"In this competition it'll consist of 3 tests: the first test will be a race to the finish line, the second will be who can shoot down the target faster, and the last one will be who can put out the house fire and save all the civilians first. In order to win either team needs to win 2 out of 3 to win do both teams understand these rules?!" Aidan says with both teams nodding as Aidan speaks.
"Now then without further ado Let the Race begin!" Aidan says as Jenny then blows the starting whistle and both teams begin to run forward as the group speak.
"Go! Squirtle Squad!" The group cheers as Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad are in the lead but then Team Wartortle starts to pass them. Ash's Wartortle looks back and sees that his team is already out of breath as Wartortle speaks.
"War!" Wartortle yells telling them to keep going with the 4 Squirtle's nodding as they begin to run faster. The Squirtle Squad try their best to pass the finish line before Team Wartortle but are unable too as Team Wartortle manages to pass the finish line first. Jenny then blows the whistle signaling that the race is over as Aidan speaks.
"Team Wartortle passed the finish line first making them the winners of the first test!" Aidan says making Team Wartortle smile while the Squirtle Squad (other than Ash's Wartortle) are panting heavily. Off to the side Leaf speaks.
"Darn they were so close too" Leaf says with the group nodding. The 4 Squirtle's tell Ash's Wartortle sorry that they lost but Wartortle looks at them and tells them that it's fine and is confident that they'll win the next test with ease making the 4 Squirtle's happy as Aidan speaks.
"Now let's move onto the next test." Aidan says with everyone nodding as they begin heading towards the next area. Once they make Jenny then speaks.
"For this test both teams will need to shoot down multiple flying discs from the sky and whichever team shoots down 30 discs first will be declared the winner" Jenny says with Both teams nodding as Ash speaks.
"Hey this is like the first challenge in Cissy's gym" Ash says as Aidan speaks.
"She actually got that idea from us when she came here to train her water Pokémon before" Aidan says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Well in that case my Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad got this in the bag" Ash says as Aidan speaks.
"We'll see" Aidan says as Jenny speaks.
"Okay are both teams ready?!" Jenny asks with both teams nodding as Jenny speaks.
"Begin!" Jenny says as she turns on the machine it immediately sends out 2 flying discs. Both teams immediately use Water Gun and manage to easily destroy their respective disc as Misty speaks.
"They both earned one point" Misty says with the group nodding as Aidan speaks.
"The first one is always the easiest from now on it'll be more difficult" Aidan says as Jenny speaks.
"Here's the next one!" Jenny says as she presses the button again sending out 2 more discs causing both teams to instantly fire their Water Guns. Once they do Team Wartortle manage to hit theirs, but Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad were unable to hit theirs as it was too high Leaf then speaks.
"Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad missed" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"Unfortunately, that disc was too high" Tracey says as Aidan speaks.
"That's what this training is for as sometimes there will be fires that are too high to reach so it's good to have them practice shooting their Water Guns high so that they can reach the fire and put it out. If your Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad can't do that then they won't be able to defeat Team Wartortle." Aidan says with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"Even though Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad missed I'm confident that they'll hit the next one" Ash says while having a confident look on his face as he along with everyone else look forward Jenny speaks.
"Okay here we go again!" Jenny says as she presses the button and this time instead of firing 2 discs 4 of them come out. The 4 discs are sent high into the air causing both teams to fire their Water Guns. Team Wartortle manage to easily destroy 2 discs while Wartortle and Squirtle Squad's Water Guns aren't reaching theirs. Just when the 4 Squirtle's are about to give up Ash's Wartortle speaks.
"War, tortle, War!" Wartortle tells them to dig deep and keep going. The 4 Squirtle's look at their leader and nod as they along with Wartortle increase the power of their Water Guns making them go higher as they manage to destroy the 2 discs. The 4 Squirtle's have smiles on their faces as Wartortle tells them good job with the 4 turtles nodding as Leaf speaks.
"Nice they did it!" Leaf cheers happily as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, I knew that they could do it!" Ash says as Aidan speaks.
"I'm impressed but the competition isn't over yet as Team Wartortle is still in the lead" Aidan says with Ash nodding as they continue to look forward and Jenny fires more discs. 5 minutes Later Team Wartortle along with Ash's Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad continue their competition destroying many discs. It didn't matter if the Disc went fast or climbed higher both teams managed to hit them, but Team Wartortle did accidentally miss one disc which put them along with Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad tied with both teams having 29 points. Both teams then look forward waiting for Jenny to fire the disc as Jenny speaks.
"This is it I'll be firing off one more disc and whichever team hits it first will be declared the winner!" Jenny says with both teams nodding as Jenny speaks.
"Okay here we go!" Jenny says as she then presses the button sending out one more disc. The disc is sent high into the air and both teams fire their Water Guns. Both teams Water Guns are neck and neck seeing who will hit the disc first. Just when Team Wartortle's about to win Ash's Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad put more power into their Water Guns making them go faster as they then manage to hit the disc and destroy it as Jenny speaks.
"We have our winners! Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad have destroyed the final disc making them the winners of this round!" Jenny says happily making Ash's Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad happy as they begin to celebrate. Off to the side the group let out a cheer too as Ash speaks.
"See I knew they could do it!" Ash says with Aidan nodding as he speaks.
"I'll admit I wasn't expecting them to take this round from Team Wartortle but both teams are now tied and it's time for the tie breaker" Aidan says with everyone nodding as they begin walking towards another area. Once they make it, they see 2 makeshift houses as Aidan speaks.
"For the final test both teams will have to not only put out the fire of these houses but also try to save the civilians that live inside. Each house has 4 civilians and are in hidden spots all around the house so make sure you try to check thoroughly while also trying to avoid getting burned." Aidan says with both teams nodding as Aidan speaks.
"Your time limit will be 10 minutes if either team hasn't put out the fire or saved all of the civilians that live inside before the timer runs out it will be that team's loss. Now once I blow this whistle it'll signal the start of the final test" Aidan says with both teams nodding. They wait for him to blow the whistle as Aidan speaks.
"Now let's begin!" Aidan says as he blows the whistle, and the timer begins to count down. The second Aidan blew into the whistle, flames instantly appeared, and they start to burn the houses. Both teams instantly shoot forward and make it to their respective houses. For team Wartortle the leader tells 3 Wartortle's to stay outside and put out the fire while it and another Wartortle go inside to save the civilians. The mons nod and begin. Meanwhile with Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad they had the same idea and begin as well. Off to the side Tracey speaks.
"Looks like they thought of the same plan" Tracey says as Jenny speaks.
"It'll all come down to who executes the plan better" Jenny says with Tracey nodding as Ash, Leaf and Misty speak.
"Go! Wartortle and Squirtle Squad!" "Pika!" "Prr!" The 3 trainers along with Pikachu and Togepi cheer as they continue to watch. We come over to the team of Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad. While 3 Squirtle's are trying to put out the fire with their Water Guns Ash's Wartortle along with another Squirtle are going through the burning house trying to find a civilian. As they continue to look Squirtle notices something and speaks.
"Squirtle, Squirt!" Squirtle says catching Ash's Wartortle's attention as it sees Squirtle pointing towards a door. Once the 2 of them blast the door down with a Water Gun they see a human doll in the room. Wartortle and Squirtle realize that this must be the civilian that they're supposed to save as Wartortle speaks.
"Wartortle, War" Wartortle tells Squirtle to take the hostage and go as it tries to find and save more. Squirtle nods as it picks up the doll and begins running towards the exit while Wartortle continues to search for more civilians. A couple seconds later Squirtle appears outside of the house and gently places the doll on the ground as Leaf speaks.
"Nice they managed to save one!" Leaf cheers along with the group as Aidan speaks.
"They aren't the only ones" Aidan says as the Team Wartortle leader appears and safely places two dolls on the ground putting the team ahead of Ash's Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad as Misty speaks.
"Team Wartortle's leader managed to save two of them" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, but Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad aren't going to let them be in the lead for long" Ash says as a couple seconds later Ash's Wartortle appears out of the house and safely puts a doll down next to the one that Squirtle had as Ash speaks.
"Nice and now they're tied!" Ash says as his friends along with Pikachu and Togepi cheer. Ash's Wartortle along with the leader of Team Wartortle glare at each other for a couple of seconds until they both go back into their respective burning house to look for the last 2 civilians. 8 minutes later both teams manage to find another civilian making it so that they both have 3 each. Both teams also continue to put out the fire with Team Wartortle almost done but the Squirtle Squad won't give up as they quickly catch up to them. Meanwhile inside the burning houses the Team Wartortle leader along with its subordinate and Ash's Wartortle along with a Squirtle continue to look for the last civilian. As they both continue to look, they manage to find the last doll, grab it and begin running towards the exit. As Ash's Wartortle along with Squirtle are running they're about to reach the exit but Squirtle accidently trips causing it to fall on its back. Wartortle looks back and sees Squirtle trying to get back on its feet, but it can't. Wartortle then sees that a part of the ceiling is about to fall on Squirtle. As much as Wartortle wants to win the competition he won't leave his friend behind, Wartortle then goes into his shell and spins forward while shooting out a Hydro Pump. Just as the ceiling is about to hit Squirtle Wartortle manages to easily knock it away and put out some of the nearby fire. After that Wartortle helps Squirtle up asking it if it's alright with Squirtle nodding, they then begin to quickly run towards the exit and go through it. The moment they do the other 3 Squirtle's manage to finally put out the fire and begin to pant. Ash's Wartortle has a smile on his face thinking that they won as Aidan speaks.
"Team Wartortle is the winner!" Aidan calls surprising Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad as they see Team Wartortle happily celebrating. Off to the side the group's sad that Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad lost as Leaf speaks.
"Aw they lost" Leaf says in a sad tone as Tracey speaks.
"Unfortunately, Team Wartortle managed to put out the fire and save the last civilian 10 seconds before Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad did" Tracey says as Jenny speaks.
"True but they gave it their all and I'm proud of them" Jenny says with the group nodding as they smile. Meanwhile with Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad the 4 Squirtle's are sad that they lost and tell Wartortle sorry as he speaks.
"War, tortle, war" Wartortle tells them that it's okay and even though they didn't win he's happy to see how much they've improved and in his eyes they're still the best team. This makes the 4 turtles happy as they then hug Wartortle with Wartortle hugging them back, but their hug is short lived once they hear a voice.
"War" The voice says as they see Team Wartortle in front of them. The 2 teams stare at each other until the leader Wartortle holds out its right hand and speaks.
"War, tortle" The mon says telling them that they gave them a good challenge and smiles with the rest of Team Wartortle smiling too. Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad look at them and smile as Ash's Wartortle grabs the leader's hand with its right hand and speaks.
"War" Ash's Wartortle tells the leader Wartortle that they enjoyed the competition as well and tells the leader Wartortle that next time the Squirtle Squad will win making the leader Wartortle smile as Aidan walks over and speaks.
"I've to say even though my team won in the end I'm impressed with all of you especially you Wartortle. Instead of leaving your friend behind to win the competition you went back and saved him. In that moment you showed what being a true fire fighter is all about" Aidan says as he along with Team Wartortle salute with Ash's Wartortle along with the Squirtle Squad doing the same thing while the group smile. We now cut away from the group and go to a nearby town that has many buildings. We see the mysterious man that appeared earlier currently hiding in an alley way as he pulls out a stick of dynamite and speaks.
"Time to get to work" The man says as he lights the stick of dynamite and throws it at a nearby building. Once he does that the dynamite connects with the building and explodes creating a big fire that surprises the bystanders as the mysterious man speaks.
"I'm not done yet" The man says as he throws more explosives that begin to burn multiple buildings causing many people to scream and run away. The mysterious man is now on a roof top he looks at the city that's covered in fire smiles and speaks.
"Yes! Burn! Burn! Until there's nothing Left! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" The man says while laughing as he continues to throw more explosives that create multiple explosions and more fire causing the people to scream and run away. Meanwhile back to the group Misty sees something in the distance and speaks.
"Is that black smoke?" Misty asks, causing the group to look at it as Aidan then gets a call on his walkie talkie, he quickly turns it on and speaks.
"Hello this is Captain Aidan what's going on?!" Aidan asks as the voice on the other line speaks.
"Captain Aidan it's an emergency most of the buildings in the town are on fire we need not only Team Wartortle but the other teams too!" The voice on the other line says shocking everyone there as Tracey speaks.
"So, that explains the black smoke" Tracey says as Aidan speaks.
"Team Wartortle it's an emergency let's go!" Aidan says with the turtles nodding as Jenny speaks.
"My Squirtle Squad will help too!" Jenny says with Aidan nodding as Ash speaks.
"We can help too please let us come with you!" Ash says with his friends agreeing with him. At first Aidan was about to decline but once he looks into their eyes and sees just how serious they are Aidan speaks.
"Okay the more help the better but make sure to stay safe." Aidan says with the group nodding as he continues to speak.
"Come on we need to join up with the other teams and head into town let's hurry!" Aidan says with the group nodding as they meet up with the other teams, get into fire trucks and begin heading towards the town. Once they make it, they see fire everywhere as Misty speaks.
"How horrible" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Who could do something like this?" Ash questions as Aidan speaks.
"We can figure that out later for now putting out these fires and saving lives is our top priority" Aidan says with the group nodding as they pull out their Pokeball's and speak.
"Come Out!" The 4 trainers say as they throw the balls high in the air and send out their Pokémon. The mons appear they look around and are ready to help as Aidan speaks.
"Okay everyone let's put out these fires and save all of the civilians!" Aidan says with everyone nodding as they all split up and go to different areas. We come over to team Vaporeon (Misty's Vaporeon is with them) they enter a building and begin putting out the fire and saving the people that live there. Next, we go over to Teams Golduck and Marill (Tracey's Marill, Smeargle, and Venonat along with Misty's Starmie and Psyduck are with them) they've reached a building as well and get to work. Team Marill along with Tracey's Marill and Smeargle fire Hydro Pumps outside of the building to put out the fire. While Team Golduck along with Misty's Starmie, Psyduck and Tracey's Venonat use their psychic powers to move the debris and rubble so they can save the people that live inside. Next, we go over to Team Blastoise (Ash's Seismitoad, Aqua, and Croconaw along with Leaf's Poilwrath and Walrein are with them). They all fire Hydro Pumps at a burning building and easily put out the fire. Once they do that Seismitoad, Aqua, and Poilwrath enter the building and carry the people out of there. Suddenly another building catches fire with the people inside crying for help as Leaf speaks.
"Oh no!" Leaf says as suddenly Ash's Dracovish along with Misty's Palafin (who's in his hero form) quickly enter the building. The moment they do they easily manage to put out the fire and carry the people out (they jumped from the 2nd floor of the building). The people tell the two mons thank you as Ash and Misty speak.
"Great job!" The 2 trainers say making the 2-mons smile as Aidan speaks.
"Alright everyone let's keep going!" Aidan says with everyone nodding as they continue. During this time everyone continues to put out the fires and save many people and Pokémon. Ash's Pikachu was running around town using Extreme Speed/Iron Tail to knock away some debris/rubble that was going to hit some people. Misty also had Togepi use Metronome in hopes of the mon using a water type move, luckily Misty got her wish and Togepi managed to use Hydro Pump to put out a fire that was burning a building. Team Wartortle along with Ash's Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad are working together and are easily putting out fires and saving civilians. As it looks like the fires are almost out the man that started the fires looks on and has an angry look on his face then speaks.
"This is bad if they continue all of the fires will be put out and I can't start over as I only have one explosive left" The man says as he's trying to think of what to do next, he then sees a big building that's not on fire and is connected to multiple buildings as well. The man gets an evil smile on his face and speaks.
"Yes, that can work" The man says as he begins walking towards the building. Meanwhile back to the group Team Wartortle along with Ash's Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad put out another fire as Jenny speaks.
"Great we're almost done" Jenny says with the group nodding. We then cut back to the man he's now next to the building and speaks.
"Now it's time for this one to burn too" The man says as he lights the dynamite then throws it at the building. The moment he does he quickly runs away, getting farther away from it as once the dynamite hits the building it creates a big explosion that alerts everyone as Misty speaks.
"What was that?!" Misty exclaims as Leaf speaks.
"Over there!" Leaf says as everyone sees a big building that's connected to other buildings consumed in fire and many people crying for help as Aidan speaks.
"We need to help them!" Aidan exclaims with everyone nodding as they quickly run over. Meanwhile, with the man who caused the fire he smiles and speaks.
"Let's see you deal with this one Team Wartortle" The man says as he watches safely from a distance. Back to the group they reach the building and their Pokémon start to fire Water Guns/Hydro Pumps to put out the fire. Ash's Dracovish, Seismitoad, along with Misty's Vaporeon, Palafin, Starmie, Leaf's Poliwrath and some members of Team Golduck enter the building and begin to safely carry out many civilians. Once they do they have the civilians gathered around away from the flames and are wearing blankets as Ash speaks.
"I think that should be everyone" Ash says as Misty speaks.
"Yep, and now all we need to do is put out the fire" Misty says with the group nodding as a woman speaks.
"My son has anyone seen my son?!" The woman says while having a frantic look on her face, but nobody knows where her son is making the woman scared as Aidan goes over to her and speaks.
"Do you know where you saw your son last time?" Aidan asks as the woman speaks.
"He was in his room before the fire started!" The woman says surprising everyone as Leaf speaks.
"Then that means he's still inside" Leaf says as Ash speaks.
"Let's have our Pokémon go back to look for him!" Ash says with the group nodding as when their Pokémon are about to enter the building it suddenly begins to come apart surprising everyone. Before the building actually comes apart Team Golduck along with Misty's Psyduck, Starmie and Tracey's Venonat quickly fire a combined Psychic attack that manages to hold the building together and allows everyone to let out a relief sigh as Leaf speaks.
"It's a good thing that they used Psychic" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"And now our Pokémon will be able to enter the building" Tracey says as Aidan speaks.
"While that's true it'll have to be a small team of two" Aidan says as Jenny looks at the woman and speaks.
"Where is your son's room located mam?" Jenny asks as the woman speaks.
"His room is located at the very top of the building" The woman says with Jenny nodding as Misty speaks.
"Since it's located at the top, we can't have our heavier Pokémon go as it could cause the building to collapse more" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"So, it'll have to be our smaller Pokémon but who will go?" Ash asks as the group look at their Pokémon Aidan speaks.
"I nominate the leader of my Team Wartortle he'll be light enough and be able to maneuver through any cramped places inside" Aidan says with the leader nodding. Ash's Wartortle then gets a determined look on his face he walks over to Ash and speaks.
"War, tortle, war!" Wartortle tells Ash that he wants to go too as Ash speaks.
"In that case I'll nominate my Wartortle as well as he should be able to help by knocking away any debris that gets in the way" Ash says with the group nodding as Jenny speaks.
"That's good and while they're inside we'll continue to try and put out the fire out here" Jenny says with the group nodding. After that both Wartortle's are now on a Blastoise cannon that's pointing towards the top of the building, Ash looks at his Wartortle and speaks.
"Wartortle be careful, and I know you can do it!" Ash says with his Pokémon along with the group and Squirtle Squad cheering him on making Wartortle happy. Wartortle then looks forward and puts on his sunglasses as Aidan speaks.
"Okay Blastoise use Hydro Pump to launch them!" Aidan says with Blastoise nodding as it fires a big stream of water that sends both Wartortle's high into the air. As they continue to fly, they reach the top of the building and manage to safely land making everyone happy as Leaf speaks.
"They made it!" Leaf says happily as Ash speaks.
"Okay let's do our part!" Ash says with everyone nodding as their Pokémon continue to fire Water Guns/Hydro Pumps to put out the fire. Back at the top of the building the 2 Wartortle's quickly enter inside and begin their search for the woman's son. As they're searching, they manage to put out multiple fires and knock away any debris that gets in their way. They continue to run until they reach a door that's covered in fire. The 2 mons then fire a combined Hydro Pump that forces the door open and allows them to go inside. Once they're inside the room they look around and see a scared kid who's hiding in the corner. The 2 mons go over to the boy who looks at them and speaks.
"Are you here to save me?" the boy asks with the 2-mons nodding. After that the boy stands up as he along with the 2 mons quickly run out of the room as the ceiling collapses on it. They're now running towards the exit with the 2 Wartortle's putting out many fires that stand in their way. As they continue to run the Team Wartortle leader notices that the ceiling's about to collapse on them. Not wanting the boy or Ash's Wartortle to get hurt Team Wartortle's leader manages to safely push them out of the way as the ceiling completely collapses on it surprising Ash's Wartortle and the boy. They quickly run over and begin to try removing the rubble to save the mon as it speaks.
"War, tortle, war!" The mon says telling Ash's Wartortle to leave it behind and get the boy to safety. Ash's Wartortle refuses saying that he won't leave him behind, but the leader Wartortle tells him to quickly get out of here before the building collapses on them too making this whole mission pointless. Ash's Wartortle understands what the leader is saying but doesn't agree as he speaks.
"War, War, Tortle, War!" Ash's Wartortle tells the leader that he's not going anywhere and will get him along with the boy out of here together. Suddenly another part of the ceiling begins to fall and is heading towards Ash's Wartortle and the boy. The leader Wartortle tells them to quickly get out of the way and leave the building. Ash's Wartortle declines, he looks at the rubble heading towards him gets a determined look on his face and yells.
"WARRRR!" Ash's Wartortle yells as he glows a bright light that shines brightly. Everyone outside of the building can see the light as Aidan speaks.
"That light it's-" Before Aidan finishes Jenny speaks.
"It's the light of evolution" Jenny says with everyone nodding as they continue to look at the light. Meanwhile, inside the building Ash's Wartortle gets bigger and his appearance begins to change (his glasses also get bigger too). Once the light stops what was once a Wartortle now stands a Blastoise as he roars. The leader Wartortle along with the boy have surprised looks on their faces as Blastoise looks at the rubble falling towards them and easily punches it away. Blastoise then looks at the rubble that's on the leader Wartortle brings out 2 cannons and fires a big Hydro Pump that blows the rubble away getting it off Wartortle. Wartortle along with the boy look at Blastoise as the mon tells them to get on his back. Wartortle and the boy nod as they quickly get on Blastoise's back. Once they do the building starts to fall apart more and the rubble is heading for the 3 of them. Before it does Blastoise tucks in his legs and fires water out of them which propels him forward allowing the 3 of them to dodge the rubble. Blastoise continues to go forward until he bursts out of the wall of the building. Once he does everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Blastoise then safely lands next to the group and allows Wartortle along with the boy to get off his back. When they're off the boys' mother immediately runs towards her son, wraps him in a hug and speaks.
"YOU'RE SAFE! THANK GOODNESS!" The woman says as she hugs her son tightly with her son hugging her back. After that the woman looks at Blastoise and Wartortle then speaks.
"Thank you for saving my son" The woman says with the boy saying thank you too making the 2-mons smile telling them welcome. After that the woman along with her son leave as the leader Wartortle looks at Blastoise and tells him thank you with Blastoise nodding. Meanwhile back to the group they've surprised looks on their faces as Misty speaks.
"Ash, I think your Wartortle evolved" Misty says while looking at the boy who has a surprised look on his face and speaks.
"That's my Blastoise?" Ash questions while looking at the mon who looks at his trainer and teammates then takes off his sunglasses showcasing that it is him. Ash along with his Pokémon and the Squirtle Squad smile as Ash speaks.
"It is you, you evolved!" Ash says happily as he along with his Pokémon and the Squirtle Squad cheer making Blastoise smile as Aidan speaks.
"I hate to cut the happy moment short, but we still need to deal with the fire" Aidan says as everyone looks at the still burning building Ash speaks.
"That's right! Okay Pikachu you're up!" Ash says with the yellow mouse nodding as he walks forward, once he does Blastoise stands next to Pikachu as Ash speaks.
"You want to help too Blastoise?" Ash asks with Blastoise nodding as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Looks like you learned that move too. Okay guys let's put out that fire!" Ash says with Pikachu and Blastoise nodding as Ash speaks.
"Use Surf!" Ash calls Pikachu along with Blastoise gain a blue outline on their bodies then roar as they summon a large wave of water that crashes down on the building and puts out the fire. Once the water disappears everyone can see that the fire is out which allows for the mons that were using Psychic on it to stop as the building then falls apart. When that happens, Ash smiles and speaks.
"We Did it!" Ash cheers along with everyone. Ash along with his Pokémon and the Squirtle Squad run over to Blastoise and give the mon a big hug as Ash speaks.
"You were amazing Blastoise and congrats on evolving!" Ash says with his Pokémon along with the Squirtle Squad saying the same thing as Blastoise smiles and fires a Hydro Pump in the air for victory. Off to the side the group smile too as Tracey speaks.
"Looks like it's all over" Tracey says as Misty speaks.
"But I wonder who caused all those fires?" Misty says with Tracey and Leaf wondering too as Aidan speaks.
"If I had to guess they were most likely started by a man named Pyro Jack" Aidan says making the 3 kids confused as Jenny speaks.
"He's a very infamous man who goes around starting fires everywhere he goes" Jenny says with the group nodding as Leaf speaks.
"Why does he do that?" Leaf asks as Aidan speaks.
"His reason for doing it is that he just wants to see the world burn" Aidan says with the group nodding as Misty speaks.
"In that case we should find him before he leaves" Misty suggests as Jenny speaks.
"Unfortunately, he's probably long gone by now as he usually instantly leaves the moment, we put out a fire that he started" Jenny says with Aidan confirming making the 3 kids sad. Meanwhile, back with Ash as he along with his Pokémon continue to celebrate Pikachu's ears perk up and sees a mysterious man running towards an alley. Pikachu then quickly goes after him, we now come over to the man as he speaks.
"Darn that Captain Aidan and those brats they ruined my planned to burn this town to the ground. But no matter once I get away from here, I'll go to the next island where neither Aidan nor Team Wartortle exist and burn everything there. Soon everyone will know and fear the name of Pyro Jack!" Pyro Jack says as he begins to chuckle. As he continues to chuckle, he then hears a voice.
"Pika" The voice says making Pyro Jack turn around as he sees Ash's Pikachu who's looking at him as the man speaks.
"Hey, you're that brats Pikachu what you think that you can stop me?" Pyro Jack asks with Pikachu nodding making the man smirk as he pulls out a knife and speaks.
"We'll see about that you rat!" Pyro Jack says as he runs forward and goes to stab Pikachu. Pikachu lets out a sigh sparks his cheeks and speaks.
"Pika, Chu!" Pikachu says as he fires a big Thunderbolt that shocks the man causing him to cry out in pain and creates an explosion that surprises everyone as Misty speaks.
"What was that?!" Misty exclaims as Ash speaks.
"Let's check it out!" Ash says with the group nodding as they begin to run towards the alley way. Once they make it, they see Ash's Pikachu as Ash speaks.
"Pikachu what are you doing here?" Ash asks as Pikachu points his finger forward causing everyone to look as they see a man on the ground who's paralyzed. The moment Aidan and Jenny see the man they get surprised looks on their faces and speak.
"It's Pyro Jack!" The 2 adults say in shock surprising the group as Leaf speaks.
"Wait this guy's him?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.
"But I thought that he would've been long gone by now" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Pikachu must've caught him before he got too far away" Tracey says as Ash looks at Pikachu and speaks.
"Great job Pikachu!" Ash says making the yellow mouse smile. After that another Officer Jenny appears puts Pyro Jack in handcuffs and takes him to prison. The group then heads to the nearest Pokémon Center to have their Pokémon healed. Once that's done, they head back to the fire station and see many party decorations as Aiden speaks.
"For helping us put out the flames, save civilians and catching Pyro Jack we're throwing this party for you all as a thank you" Aidan says making the group happy as Jenny speaks.
"Now without further ado let's party!" Jenny says with the group nodding as they send out their Pokémon (Lapras was sent out too) and begin to celebrate. During the party they play many games and eat a lot of food. Ash's Blastoise along with Croconaw and Misty's Quaxwell put on a show for everyone with the Squirtle Squad joining in. Team Wartortle joined in on the show too and began having a rap battle against Ash's Blastoise and the Squirtle Squad which made the party livelier. Everyone continued to have fun at the party until it was time for everyone to go to sleep. The group thanked Aidan and Jenny for the party then headed to the Pokémon Center to rest. It's now the next day, the group's now back at the port of the island and are about to go. Before they do go Captain Aidan along with Team Wartortle, Officer Jenny and the Squirtle Squad are there to see them off as Aidan speaks.
"Thank you all again for helping us yesterday" Aidan says with the group saying they're welcome. We then come over to Ash's Blastoise speaking to the Squirtle Squad. The 4 Squirtle's are sad to see their leader leaving again but tell him that they'll become famous fire fighters one day making Blastoise happy. Then the leader of Team Wartortle appears, he walks over to Ash's Blastoise and looks at him. The 2 mons look at each other for a couple seconds then smile at each other as they do a fist bump making everyone happy. After that Blastoise gives the Squirtle Squad a big hug and says goodbye. Ash then sends out Lapras who allows the group to get on her back just when Lapras's about to swim away Aidan speaks.
"Alright everyone salute!" Aidan says as he along with Jenny, Team Wartortle and the Squirtle Squad do a salute as their way saying goodbye to the group. The group look at them and do a salute too then Lapras begins to swim away (Ash's Blastoise is swimming next to them) from the port. Aidan along with the others continue to salute until they can't see the group anymore then begin heading back towards the fire station. We now come back to the group as Misty speaks.
"It was a short but also a fun trip other than the fire" Misty says with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, but thanks to it we got to meet the Squirtle Squad again and my Wartortle evolved into a Blastoise so I'm pretty happy" Ash says with the group nodding as Leaf speaks.
"So, where should we go to next?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.
"How about Murcott Island?" Tracey says making the 3 kids confused as Ash speaks.
"What's Murcott Island?" Ash asks as Tracey speaks.
"It's an island that's filled with many different types of bug type Pokémon I've been wanting to go there to observe the bug Pokémon that live on the island but haven't had the chance" Tracey says with Ash and Leaf nodding as Ash speaks.
"Sounds fine to me" Ash says as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah, I'm fine with it too as maybe I can find and catch some shiny bug types" Leaf says while having an excited look on her face making Tracey happy as he then looks over at Misty and speaks.
"How about you Misty? I know that you're not the biggest fan of bug type Pokémon, so we won't go if you don't want to" Tracey asks as Misty thinks for a little bit lets out a sigh and speaks.
"While I don't like the idea of going to an island filled with bug types I don't mind going as this could be a good way for me to get over my fear of them." Misty says, making Tracey happy as he speaks.
"Thanks Misty!" Tracey says with the girl nodding as Ash speaks.
"Okay we have our next destination Murcott Island here we come!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu and the others cheer. Lapras continues to swim forward as the chapter comes to an end.

You'd think that I'd have Wartortle evolve in some big epic battle, but I had Wartortle evolve here as him trying to save someone from danger fits more with his character, so it just felt right.
Next chapter will come out next week it'll focus on the gang reaching Murcott Island so that Tracey can observe the bug type Pokémon that live there. The group will also confront Team Sangem again as well who try to steal the bug type Pokémon.
