"He can't do this!" Thomas yelled as he stormed into Theo's office, with Robert trailing behind him. His father had interrupted his class only a few minutes before to pull him out and present him with a document that he had never seen before. As he read through it, he had felt his blood boil and he had lashed out at Mitchell before sprinting up here. If anyone could fix this- Theo could.
"What's going on?" Theo asked as Thomas pushed the paper into Theo's hands. Theo quietly read it and then locked eyes with Robert who looked furious. Mitchell had entered Thomas into a marriage agreement- with another Power Ranger family. It was something that was hardly ever done now, but was still acceptable in certain ranger families. The Truehearts were one of those families. "Shit. Didn't your father pull something like this with Mitch?"
"Yeah," Robert muttered as Mitchell knocked on the door and the three of them spun around to face him. Robert stepped in front of Thomas and Theo rose to his feet and pushed Thomas further back in the room.
"As his legal parental guardians, his mother and I are allowed to enter him into a marriage contract at any time before he is 18," Mitchell said with an evil smile as they all stared at him. "I believe tomorrow is October 20th. Happy birthday, Thomas."
Mitchell turned and walked out of the room as Theo and Robert each grabbed an arm as Thomas tried to charge past them. Even though they were able to hold him still, a shot of energy came out of him and slammed Mitchell into the ground. Thomas stilled as Theo and Robert slowly let him go.
"Do you have to treat him?" Thomas asked as Robert gave him a disgusted look, but nodded. He felt that his brother had gotten exactly what he deserved, but he couldn't say that to Thomas. Robert walked out of the office and closed the door as he went. "Dad…please tell me…"
"I don't know," Theo stated as he looked at the document again. "I'll make some calls. You should probably stay in here for a bit."
"If you want Mitchell to stay alive, yeah," Thomas ground out as Theo barely nodded as he couldn't quite meet Thomas' gaze. He was starting to get concerned about how Thomas' soulmate connection reacted to anything that threatened him and Kimberly, but that was something he could look into another day. Today, he had to take care of this crisis.
"Hey- why was I pulled out of training?" Kimberly asked as she walked into Amelia's office and saw Thomas and Theo sitting there. "This couldn't wait until I got home?"
"Unfortunately- no," Theo said as he let out a groan. "I hate this."
"It's your only option," Atlantis said as Kimberly looked over at him, not knowing who he was. Thomas hadn't looked up at her since she had come in and that worried her the most. Normally his eyes stayed on her whenever she entered a room. "Hi, Kimberly- I'm Atlantis- one of the primary Guardians. It's nice to meet you."
"Tommy?" Kimberly whispered as he looked up at her and gave her a weak smile. "What is it?"
"Can we have a minute?" Thomas asked as Theo, Amelia, and Atlantis nodded before quickly filing out of the room. The silence stretched as he struggled with his words. How did he even begin to explain this to her? "My father has been too quiet. He just played his trump card today."
"What's that?" Kimberly asked as she sat down next to him and he let out a sigh. "C'mon- it can't be that bad."
"It's a betrothal contract," Thomas said as she stared at him and just shook her head. They had finally gotten settled into a routine. She was slowly feeling some level of control of her prophetess abilities. He was back to excelling at classes. When were they going to catch a break? "There's a way around it, but I don't like it. I don't like that every stage of our relationship has been so rushed and…"
"What's the way around it?" Kimberly asked as she sat down next to him and he glanced over at her. She couldn't possibly be serious. "There is zero way I am letting you marry someone else."
"It's good to hear that. Because the solution is to marry me now. Today. Before we leave this room," Thomas said as Kimberly stilled for a moment. "I know this is not the wedding you would have ever dreamed of, but it's the only loophole we've found."
"I hate your father," Kimberly ground out as she shook her head. "Okay. Yeah. Let's do it."
"You're sure?" Thomas asked as Kimberly gave him a brilliant smile and he felt himself immediately relax.
"I don't like this, but I love you," Kimberly whispered as he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. There was so much they hadn't even had a chance to say to each other. They hadn't even had a chance to really talk about.
"I love you too," Thomas whispered as he leaned down to give her a kiss and then ever so slowly pulled away. "I'll grab them."
"Yes or no?" Theo asked as Thomas gave them a smile and Theo just nodded. "I'm sorry that the two of you haven't been able…to just be…normal teenagers."
"It's not your fault. C'mon- I think the both of us are going to need some time to…to really understand…" Thomas trailed off as Theo just nodded and the adults then filed back into the room.
"Can my Dad…" Kimberly asked as Theo nodded to Doug. They had called him as soon as they had figured out this loophole. They were sure that Kimberly was not going to let Thomas go and even though her father had been shocked, he had accepted it quickly. There was something that all of them saw with the two of them that made them think this could really work. "Dad."
"He's great for you and I will always support what is good for you," Doug said as he gave her a hug and she cried in his arms. She had not expected her dad to be okay with this. She had fully expected that he would lose it when he figured out what was happening. "Hey, Peanut…I will always be proud of you."
"Thanks, thanks Dad." Kimberly pulled back as Doug placed her hand in Thomas' and she glanced between the two of them. Between the man she had always depended on and the man that she was going to spend the rest of her life with. Thomas smiled at her as she stiffened her spine and moved closer to him. He was her future and she had seen that much so clearly already.
