Chapter 89 – Almost Midnight

The Skywalkers and the Solos were at the elevator, that were taking them to their own apartments of their building.

Unlike their cousins, Bail and Anakin were both in their parents arms, feeling tired and sleepy.

"I see someone is very tired," Luke giggled looked at his nephews.

"Well after spending half of the night running, of course in the end it would end like this," Leia giggled looking at Ani, who has his face resting on her shoulder, while yawning and rubbing his eyes, while Bail was on Han's arms.

"Unlike their cousins who can't stop moving around," Luke giggled looking at his daughters, who were still super awake and jumping up and down.

"Someone is excited for the arrival of the Ancient Wookiee," Han laughed looking at his nieces.

"Well but they know if they are not asleep, the Ancient Wookiee will not put the presents under the tree," Ines replied looking at them, which made the girls look at their mother.

"We know mama," the girls said at the same time.

"By the way, tomorrow don't wait for us, cause we go earlier to the Temple to help Aurea with the lunch and organize everything for the boys birthday," Leia informed them.

"Are you sure you don't want any help, we don't mind to be honest," Ines replied looking at her sister in law.

"No, don't worried. Han will also help us too, right honey?" she asked looking at her husband.

"If I said no, I knew you would make me regret that right now, so I have no choice to agree," Han said rolling his eyes but with a smile on his face.

"Well that is why you married me anyway?" she winked at him, making everyone laughed at them.

The elevator stop at the 18th floor and after saying their goodnights, the Solos left, while the elevator went up two more floors, stopping at the 20th and the last floor of the building, where the Skywalkers left.

Opening the door, they entered inside and the girls ran towards the couches.

"Come on, let's put your pajamas, brush your teeth and get to bed cause it is almost midnight," Ines ordered them, adjusting Lukey, who was still sleeping on her arms.

"Mama help us!" Padmé asked looking at her.

Looking at her husband, she smiled.

"Go help the girls, I will take care of the boys and put the pajamas on this little one," Luke said taking his toddler son from his wife arms.

"Thank you," she said kissing him and looked back at her girls. "Come on, let's hurry," she said and shaking her head, she couldn't help but laughed when the twins ran towards their bedroom.

As Ines helped the girls to take off their dresses and remove the braid from their hair, Luke changed the Lukey's diaper and put his pajama, smiling seeing that his toddler was so tired that he barely opened his eyes.

After putting him on the crib, he looked at Ben his 6 years old, already had his pajama on.

"Done?" he asked him, getting a nod from him. "Then go brush your teeth, while I'm going to put my pajamas too, and then Mom and I will tuck you in." he smiled, watching him running towards the bathroom.

When he returned to watch if he was ready, Ines was already there with the girls, who were also in their pajamas and brushing their teeth.

Looking at her husband in his pajamas, Ines giggled.

"Ready to go to bed too before Ancient Wookiee arrive?"

"Always," he winked at her with a smile.

"We're ready," the girls said looking at their parents.

"Good, are you ready too sweetie?" Ines looked at Ben.

"Yes, I'm done too."

"Then go to your bed and wait for us okay?"

Nodding, Ben went to his bedroom, while the girls ran towards her and got in bed quickly.

Giggling, Ines and Luke walked towards them, and covered them, they kissed their forehead.

"Now, sleep well and let me tell both of you, don't waste your time, coming to our bedroom at 6 am like last year, because we will only open the presents, during breakfast after 8. Understood?" Ines told them, making the sighed.

"But what if wake up earlier?" Alli asked them.

"Can we go to your room at least?" Padmé asked right away too, indicated they were thinking the same thing.

Luke and Ines glare at each other. They also knew that saying no, was useless.

"Well if we say to stay in bed, you wont, but if you come at 6, we will send you back to your bed. If it closer to 8, you can come to our bed," Luke replied kissing his girls, who smiled and started to get ready to sleep.

Closing the bedroom door, they went towards the boys room, where Ines check on Lukey, who was sleeping sucking his pacifier, while Ben was under the covers.

"Well goodnight buddy," Luke said kissing his son's forehead.

"Can I help to put the presents under the tree?"

Sitting next to her husband, Ines smiled.

"Thanks for asking but it is better for you to stay in bed and get some sleep," Ines replied, kissing her son's forehead. "Cause we know if your sisters sense you are awake, they will not go sleep."

"I get it. They can't find out who the real Ancient Wookiee is. But you guys know they will find out sooner or later when they get older."

"Until that time comes, let them have some fun, buddy. And thanks for pretending that it is real. You the best big brother ever!" Luke smiled also kissing him in the forehead. "Now go to sleep."

"Good night!" Ben said, turning to his right ready to go to sleep.

"Good night baby," Ines smiled as he and Luke walked away, patting R2, who was already there, before they leave the bedroom.

Looking at his wife, Luke smiled.

"I let you change your clothes. I'm in the living room with the presents, until is midnight so we can put the rest of the presents under the tree," he whispered, getting a nod from her, while she went towards their bedroom.

After changing to her pajamas, and brush her teeth, Ines put a robe and went towards the living, where Luke was sitting on the lounge couch, since it was the one that they face the Life Day Tree that stood in one the corners of the living room.

Sitting next to him, she looked at the Tree.

"A credit for your thoughts?" she asked, making Luke looked at her, and pulling into him, he wrapped his left arm around her waist and kissed her forehead.

"I thought you could read my thoughts?"

"When you let me," she giggled.

Luke smiled and looked back to the Tree,

"I was just thinking that this day only started to get meaning for me, 7 years ago, when we celebrate Life Day here, in our apartment. And it was also the first time I really had a tree and all the decorations, that I never had as a kid back in Tatooine."

Ines knew what he meant, since he told her that, when they had the tree and decorated the apartment for the first time.

"I remember I felt so sad that you didn't have the same experience than me and Leia and my brothers and many children across the galaxy."

"Well not everyone have the lucky to live in great places where people are able to have the luxury to celebrate these traditions. Sadly living in Tatooine, we didn't have the money or even time for these," He sighed remember those time as kid. "Tatooine life was rough, and families had more important things to do, like getting water and food and not get killed by Tuskens or dangerous creatures or even the Hutts."

"I'm glad that at least your aunt would make sure to get you something. When you told me that, it made me smile and feel sad that I never met her."

"Yeah, aunt Beru was a great mum and I'm sure she would loved you. And yes she always made sure to give me something, even if the majority of what she gave me was clothes," he said giggling. "So Life Day was never an important date, until our Ben was born. That change everything for me. This date is all about our kids."

Ines smiled and nod.

"Yes it is. When I was kid and we celebrated Life Day back in Alderaan, most of the presents were all for us. Our parents barely had any gifts and I remember asking my parents why, and my mum told me that when I had kid, I would understand. And she was right. This date is all about our kids and seeing them so happy when they are unwrapping the presents, that I don't care if I don't have a single present."

"But you will have a present."

"Really? What is it?"

Luke couldn't help but laughed.

"Now I see from whom our daughters got that enthusiasm behavior about presents."

"Shut up!" she laughed when the heard the midnight on the clock.

"Midnight, it is time to put the rest of the presents and go to bed."

Nodding, they grab the present and put them under the tree, looking at the pile of presents for a while.

"Is just me or, the pile is getting bigger and bigger every year!" Luke notice.

"Yup and when we have our girl it will get bigger cause it would be presents for 5 kids."

Hearing Ines saying that, Luke looked at her and grabbed her, making her look at him.

"About that, I'm so sorry for earlier. You are right, I should have respect your time. After all we men forget that you are the ones who deal with all the changes in your body and hormones and goes through labor, while we only participate in the good part of process."

Ines frown at that and started to giggled.

"Leia told that, didn't she?"

"You bet she did," Luke replied rolling his eyes. "But she is right. So I will wait until you feel ready for it."

"Thank you, but I was also thinking and how about we wait until this year is done. After all we still have Luma and Reed's wedding. So after we return from Varykino, I will make an appointment and see my doctor and remove the implant, and let nature or the force do the rest."

"Deal. After all it is an excuse for me to have you a lot until that happens, which I would love to start tonight, but, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm so tired and I need some sleep."

"We are getting old aren't we?" Ines laughed when Luke frown at her.

"No, I'm not old and tomorrow night I will show how old I am, you'll see."

"It is a deal then. But yeah let's go to bed. It is cold, I'm tired and we know that around 7 am we have two girls running towards our bedroom, wanted to be between us until is time to open the presents," she replied which made Luke laughed at that thought.

Nodding they walked towards their bedroom, for a good night sleep.

Midnight is here and the next day will crazy. What did you guys think about the difference how Luke and Ines celebrate Life Day's as children?
