Chapter 5-2
Felicia returned home the night after her night with Spidey. She climbed in through her window and discarded her costume as she looked at herself in the mirror. She removed her domino mask first and returned to her normal persona as Felicia Hardy, no longer Black Cat. "Spider," she whispered in the mirror, "he sure knows how to show a girl a good time." She changed into a pair of pajamas and she laid down on her bed. "I can only imagine who that handsome man is behind that mask," she whispered to herself, "there's something about him that feels familiar for some reason. I feel like I've met him, and when his mask was lifted so that I could kiss him, his voice was familiar." She replayed the experience in her mind. "That voice, the jawline, I feel like I've met him and something in my gut is telling me that I have met him."
She sits up and looks at herself in the mirror once again.
"The kiss he gave me," she licked her lips and touched the bottom one, "Those lips of his were also familiar." She lifted herself off the bed and looked out the window to New York City. "The chances of crossing a sociopath like him is not an uncommon thing," she said, "I like him for being a different type of hero and willing to live on the bad side but I can't help but feel this familiarity of his aura."
She turned her back to the window. "But how many people have I known to kill people? But then again, if they killed people then they would've hidden it. That Spider-Man, he's sneaky but cats are perceptive and I caught onto him. All I can deduce is that he's trying to hide his real identity and I understand."
She looks at her watch, still early in the night. "I have to meet up with David for our date in about two hours or so. I guess I should get ready."
She walked into her closet and pulled out the clothes she was going to wear. She turned on her tv to a live broadcast of a festival going on downtown. There were banners colored red and black that were decorated with Spidey's masked face on the front.
Felicia noticed this and smiled. "Spider," she whispers, "You do kill people, but only violent criminals. You could've killed me numerous times but you spared me. And not only that, but you saved innocent lives from violent criminals. You are a superhero who kills people, but people still love you. They love you even though you kill people." She touched the screen when a photo of Spidey flashed onto the screen. "I can't believe I had sex with this man." She looks at her catsuit. "Who knows, maybe I'll see him after my date with David. Technically, Felicia Hardy is going on a date with David Dante and Black Cat is dating Spider-Man, it's not cheating if you have alter-egos."
She dons her catsuit.
"I'll wear this under my dress."
Her room suddenly flooded with smoke coming from the window. She covers her mouth and runs to shut the now-open window. She succeeds in closing the window but suddenly feels drowsy. Even though her eyes were closed, she could feel her vision starting to blur. "What's going on," she said in a slurred voice. "I feel…" She never got to finish that sentence. She fell down onto the bed and suddenly lost consciousness.
XXXXX
Groaning loudly, Felicia manages to pry her eyes open, if only to get a small glimpse of the world around her. Huh, was her name Felicia? Or was it Black Cat? These were questions the girl would answer later. Either way, when she sits up, her hands feel tight around her. She looks down in front of her and sees what she believes is called handcuffs on her wrists.
"Why handcuffs," she slurs.
She forgets how to break out of handcuffs. Instead, she looks around to see where she is. It is some kind of factory, an abandoned one, or at least one under construction. She sits against the wall, her eyes adjusting to the dark around her before she finds it in her strength to get up. Who was she and why was she here? What was the last thing she remembers?
Without thinking, she dislocates her thumbs and slips out of the handcuffs. "Who taught me how to do that?" She rubs her forehead, hoping it'll make these foggy memories go away. Shaking her head, she looks to her left, her ears picking up the sound of an engine. Whoever put these cuffs on her, she doubted had BDSM intent so she quickly staggers away, hiding behind several crates as the engine sounds get louder.
The Green Goblin flies through the window on his glider, slowly lowering to the ground before hopping off his flying hoverboard.
"Kitty," Green Goblin calls out, "~come out and play~"
Black Cat continues to hide behind the crates. Her eyes widen, her memories returning to her once more. "I remember now," she whispers to herself. "Spider, what have you gotten me into?" She realizes that her civilian clothing is gone, probably torn to shreds, and she is wearing her catsuit. Good.
She pulls an expandable baton out from an inner pocket and extends it. She moves away, keeping her eyes on Green Goblin as she finds new cover.
"I should've known," Green Goblin yells, looking over all the crates. "Spider-Man has always been attracted to the dark side and it makes sense he would be attracted to someone like you." He smashes a crate to pieces, showering the ground with splinters.
Black Cat moves away, using the shadows to her advantage. She quickly glances over at Goblin and winks at him.
A dangling light disconnects and falls on Goblin's head. The bulb breaks but Green Goblin barely reacts.
"Is this your power?" Green Goblin moves across the warehouse. "Causing things to fall?" He presses a button on his glove. "I was just finishing picking up your family when I came back. Walter Hardy?"
Black Cat freezes. Taking her eyes off the door with the large EXIT sign on top, she turns to Green Goblin.
"Lydia Hardy. Scott Hardy? Sweet little Scott, such an innocent young boy. If you promise to come out, I promise not to incinerate your family."
Black Cat clutches the baton tight in her hands before moving through the shadows.
As Green Goblin pushes another button, Black Cat yells as she swings the baton over his head. Goblin backhands her, sending her flying into a crate. When Goblin moves up to her, she already vanished into the shadows.
"Let's not make this difficult, thief." Goblin looks around. "I want to keep you in mint condition." He smiles behind his mask. "I'm going to ruin your life and Spider-Man's life." Goblin looks around. His ears perk up at the sound of something behind him.
Turning around, his glider flies towards him with the blades on the front extended. Goblin frontflips over the glider. Landing on his feet, he pushes a button, causing the glider to shut down.
"You can do more than make things fall, right?"
Black Cat sprays him with a fire extinguisher. The green supervillain jumps in surprise before tossing a grenade her way. She kicks it back to him. The grenade detonates and sends Green Goblin flying ten feet back, crashing into the wall. Aside from his suit being badly damaged, his mask was intact and the Green Goblin was on its feet seconds later.
"You're going to have to do better than that; that was nothing but a rollercoaster ride for me."
Black Cat sneaks up on him from behind and hammers the fire extinguisher in the back of his head. Green Goblin endures the blow before grabbing Black Cat and putting her in a headlock.
"Go back to sleep or things are going to get a whole lot worse for you."
Black Cat hits him in the groin with the baton. When she goes to hit him again, he sweeps her off her legs before kicking the baton away.
"You can't use the element of surprise on me anymore." Green Goblin forces her to the ground before pressing his hands hard against her throat.
Black Cat winks at him.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
The glider flies in Goblin's direction. He ducks at the last second and with lightning-fast reflexes, snags a grenade from the bottom of the glider just as it crashes into the wall.
"You are nothing but a regular human, Felicia Hardy, and that is why you never stood a chance against me." He presses the detonator on the pumpkin bomb.
Black Cat's eyes widen with horror as she instinctively winks at the bomb, hoping it'll malfunction. The pumpkin bomb detonates in his hand but not with an explosion but rather smoke. Black Cat inhales the smoke against her will and feels herself become weightless once more.
Green Goblin smiles before taking a sniff of the smoke. "Ahh, the sweet smell of knockout gas."
"Kill you..." Black Cat slurs as she feels herself losing consciousness. "Kill... you."
"What's that, sweetie? You'll kill me?" Green Goblin cackles. "I'd like to see you try."
"Spider..." she rasps, "Spider... will... kill... you."
She loses consciousness.
With David
Sunday night. David's date with Black Cat went better than expected. That unlucky bringer of bad luck backed him into a corner when questioning his sex motives but he thought of a lie and he evaded her but he wasn't completely sure of himself. To ignore her questioning his motives, he thought back to his time with her, specifically, the light BDSM he performed on her.
What is my problem with women? How come every lady I like always has some way of knowing that I'm lying under their noses? Are women really that perceptive? Was Mother the one who discovered I was a psychopath before Father?
"Davey," Misa called out to her son as she knocked on the door to his room. He opened his bedroom door and welcomed his mother in. "What are you doing?"
Waiting for my plan to kill my psychiatrist to work.
"Studying, thinking," David said, which was true to a degree, "planning the next move I make to the tenth degree."
She caught on. "What are you planning exactly?"
Killing my psychiatrist, who is also the Green Goblin, in a Dexter-type way.
"My date with Felicia tonight," he said, "I'm going on a date with her to Texas Roadhouse."
Her eyes flared up with shock and confusion. She wasn't completely convinced. "What's your motive?" she asked suddenly.
David nearly lost his composure.
Women ARE perceptive. Damn it, she knows that I am onto something. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised; she is my mother, after all, the woman who raised me for fifteen years.
"What is going on through that head of yours, David Dexter Dante?"
You don't want to know, Misa A-Something Dante. And my middle name is 'Dylan', not 'Dexter' but it does sound catchy.
"I already told Dr. Hamilton about this and he gave me hints," he said, recalling what his treacherous psychiatrist said to him over the phone, "He told me how I should behave around a girl and I trust him."
Trust him to fall into my trap.
Misa studied her son, studying his features as if looking for some signs that he was wearing a mask of some sort. Once she was satisfied with whatever thought that ran through her head, she leaned over and kissed David on the temple.
What was that?
"Are you going on this date as a way to blend in or do you really want to do this?"
Yes.
"That's not something I can't answer easily," he lied, "I think for the first time, I really like Felicia."
Now I'm making it obvious that I want to be caught. Lay it on less, Davey.
"I mean, she does seem nice to hang around. I like Eddie but he can be boring sometimes. Felicia, she is such a badass."
"Language," she scolded.
"Mom, I'm fifteen and I stay home alone; I can say bad words."
I don't know why she even bothers as if I would listen to her no-curse rule.
"I just wanted to give you some advice before you left," she said. She stood up as David stood up. She grabbed him by both of his shoulders. "I understand that you are different from normal 'humans' as you refer to them but remember this: Women are perceptive.
Got that right, I can't lie to Felicia OR Black Cat and now you've been added to the list, Mom.
"If you're going to lie and manipulate them, then at least make sure you plan every conversation you have with them six steps ahead. If you slip once then it'll be over for you."
"I pretty much got that part down already, Mom," David said nonchalantly/ "Every time I tried to lie to Felicia or make up a believable story, even by my standards, she calls me out on my BS. I have no idea how she does it, either she's a stalker or she is just that perceptive." He rubs his chin, "But I have my suspicions about her."
"What are you talking about?"
"I don't know why, but my gut is telling me that she is also hiding something. The only way for someone to figure out what a person is hiding is to think like them and the only way to think like them is to hide something yourself." He cocks his head. "Now that I mention it, she could be a threat."
"That's what I'm trying to tell you," Misa said, "Women notice things men tend not to. When your father was alive, he thought that I wouldn't notice him taking the last of the cookies from the jar but I have my ways."
Does she know I took money out of her wallet?
"And I know you took a couple of hundred dollars out of my wallet a few nights before Dad died," she said. "I don't know what you were doing with the money but it doesn't matter because we paid the taxes on time."
Yep, she noticed. And only SOME of it was from their wallet while most of the money came from money I made from drawing pictures and having people buy them.
She hugs her son tightly. "Promise me you'll be careful of what you say because if she catches on that you're a psychopath, who knows what could happen."
Why would she care?
"You're my baby boy."
I'm fifteen...but then again, I don't want to go to jail. I trust myself in taking care of myself but I also trust Mom because after Green Goblin is dead, she'll be the only one who knows that I'm a psycho. I can hold my own against normal people but Felicia is different. I have to calculate every conversation I have to the tenth degree. I have to prepare answers for all possible scenarios. If I'm not careful, then I could slip. In the event that I do slip, I will need a backup plan. And if the backup plan doesn't work, I'm going to need another backup plan. It's one big chess game except the queen is the one I have to checkmate.
David's cell phone vibrated. When he checked for the Caller ID, it read Felicia Hardy.
I strangely don't remember giving my phone number to Felicia, which could only mean one thing: Green Goblin. Is he acting already? Push the green button and find out, ironically.
"Hello?"
"Ha ha ha ha."
Check...and soon-to-be mate.
David fought off the urge to hold in his laughter.
"I'm calling on behalf of Black Cat," Goblin laughed, "Is there a Spider-Man there?"
I can't believe...it….It all went just as planned, I've won, I've won once again...I've got the king in check and it is now time to checkmate him.
Then he contemplated.
He's calling on behalf of Black Cat but used the Caller ID as Felicia Hardy. Did he kidnap Black Cat, Felicia, or both? What is going on? Did he actually have a plan in mind?
