Thank you all so much for enjoying this first chapter. I really hope you like this next one. It took me a little while because I have some medical issues. However, I will do my best with this 2nd chapter, so please be patient with me.
Chapter 2:
Boo's Old Friend Asks for a Favor:
Back at the monster factory, Mike was worried, and for very good reasons. As he typed out his report, the memory of the small child covered in bruises and blood played over and over again in his mind. If a monster got scared after seeing something like this, it meant it was something big. Child abuse was not condoned; neither by monster nor human. So, this time, Mike was going to do his paperwork properly and turn it in to the proper authorities. He did not know how he was going to do it yet, but he knew that he needed to do something different for this child. Because, no toddler should have to suffer at the hands of anyone, especially not at the hands of family.
From what Mike could gather from the small child's energy was that although he was human, he was obviously different as well. But Mike noted in his report that although different, the toddler was much too skinny and small for his age and looked extremely malnourished, which was not good for the developing brain of any child. In fact, Mike was so engrossed in his report, that he was startled when his best friend, James Sullivan tapped him on the shoulder. "What the!" Mike shouted in surprise. "Dude, you scared me! Please do not do that again!"
The furry purple monster, known as James Sullivan looked down sheepishly. "Oh, geez Mike, I am sorry. I did not mean to startle you. I just wanted to tell you that it was almost time for break." But before Mike could reply, James happened to glance at his computer screen. "Mike, is this… Is this an actual report of child abuse? And is the child monster? Or is the child human?"
Mike looked up at his friend with a sorrowful gaze as he answered. "Sadly, the child is human, but I am not sure what we can do since he is not really part of our world. I know we still must report it regardless, but I am still unsure of what we can do to help. He is not like the other children, even though he is human. His energy is different because not only is he very sick and malnourished, this child also has some strange powers that I do not even understand. Maybe our old friend Boo might just have the answers, but then again, she is an adult now. Would she even remember us or our world? She was such a sweet kid and funny, too."
The 2 monster friends got wistful looks as they remembered the playful, human child from so long ago. "I remember that she used to call me Kitty and pet my cheeks," James said fondly. "She used to call me Kitty and pet my fur a lot. That was when we were only using scream power and old Water News was using it for an evil purpose."
Mike scowled. "Yeah, do not remind me. I was almost 1 of his victims before you came to rescue me which I never really thanked you properly for, so here it goes. Thank you very much."
James smiled and answered. "You're welcome, Buddy, anything for my best friend. Now, is there anything I can do to help you with this report?"
Mike grimaced. "I am done with it, but I am unsure where to send it. Do we have a liaison office or something like that? It is a report of child abuse, but it is not one of our own here in the monster world. So, I do not know where to go in order to file this properly without being seen, that is."
James looked thoughtful as he answered. "Actually, there is. We might just be able to contact her after all."
Mike's face lit up with excitement. "Are you talking about who I think you're talking about?"
James laughed and replied. "Yes, of course I am talking about Boo! She knows about our world, but she is now a social worker for child protective services in the human world. She would be perfect! Even though this child lives in the United Kingdom and Boo is in America, I do not think it matters since every single door in this factory leads all over the world so they act as shortcuts if that makes any sense."
Mike slapped his forehead in realization. "Oh my God! You are right! Why didn't I think of that? If we could find where her door is or if there is a new one for her, we could both talk to her! That is, if she remembers us and is willing to help us."
James smiled at his friend and answered. "Well, there is only one way to find out. Just do not forget to print out your report. If we are going to find our friend again, she does need to see it as she is a social worker now." And without further ado, the 2 monster friends searched once again for the closet door of their old friend, Boo, or is she is known these days, Mary.
