Epilogue
The Gotham Gazette was convinced to print a retraction after a visit by both Commissioner Gordon and Bruce Wayne, the latter of whom had threatened to sue. All three of the local news stations were also convinced to issue an apology while on-the-air when they received the same visits.
One reporter refused to let the situation go, and he printed a flyer reiterating all the accusations against the sixteen-year-old and railing against the power of Bruce Wayne. According to the reporter, money was the only reason that Dick Grayson wasn't currently sitting in a cell in the juvenile detention center. He implied under the table bribes to the commissioner and a few judges.
The man had posted dozens of copies of his story throughout Gotham City. He was in the middle of posting one on a pole near Police Headquarters when he heard a 'whoosh' behind him. Turning around, he squeaked in fright when he came face to face with a dark Bat-glare.
By nightfall, all the copies had been taken down and the man had decided to pack up and move out, never to be heard from again.
Batman had caught and interrogated Mad Hatter, who had held strong for a day and a half. Then Dick Grayson had entered the room and sat down across from him, glaring viciously. There was an intense, two-hour long conversation filled with all the details the sixteen-year-old could remember, followed by a complete confession from the villain.
Jervis Tetch went to jail, Dick Grayson was cleared, and Bruce Wayne decided not to sue anyone. Mad Hatter spent his time thinking of ways to get revenge, and Dick never looked directly at a camera again.
