"The experiments are an unfortuante part of the process. The higher ups refuse to believe there are any inerent dangers to it. They don't know the sacrifices or the lives that go into this kind of work. All of Sumeragi is corrupt to its very core. None of the employees or test subjects have any rights. The Sumeragi is only giving the public false hope. Nobody on the outside is allowed to know the truth. Most of the research uses spiritual approaches. Septimas are said to be an extensio of the soul." Dr. Kamizono lectured.
"Well if they're an extension of the soul, then why can Septima genes be implanted? Wouldn't it be based on your personality then?" Naomi asked.
"That may explain the dificulty behind matching Septimal gene testing." Dr. Kamizono realized.
"Asimov told me I was put under every night. With something called "Primal Dragon Anesthesia"? That I had a Primal Dragon transformation and some other stuff. Am I really an abomination to you? Just a monster that shouldn't exist? One that would lead to humanity's downfall? Me? Just a single person? What destruction do you think I'm capable of? You made it sound like I was capable of destroying the world or something." Naomi assured.
"The fact that you possess the ability to retain every Septima in existence was, to say the least, unexpected. Luckily, I was the one assigned to implant those Septimas into you. Unfortunately, I did't think they would take it as far as they did. I tried to ask the higher ups waht they had planned for you one night. They didn't give the answer I was looking for. Instead, they simply stated that what they had planned would help both you and Sumeragi as a whole. The only exception I'd make regarding a Septima I'm glad you have is Resurrection. It certainly doesn't make things easier though." Dr. Kamizono explained.
"And, how many Septimas would that be exactly?" Naomi questioned.
"Azure Striker, Angered Explosion, Muse, Psychokinesis, Hydro Pressure, Plant Septima, oscillation Septima, Detonation, Duelist, Vectored Cloth, Pendulum, Gravity Well, Shockwave, Rewind Time, Golden Trillions, Phantom Mist, Sandstorm, Hot and Cold, Trick Bullet, Lightspeed, Wormhole, Metallon, Permafrost, Hack The Planet, Marionette, Ichor, Phantasm Miror, Reverie Mirror, Spiral, Geist, Overclock, Obliteration, Magnetism, The Fly, Rebirth, Splitting Ends, Prism Cataclysm, Radiant Fetters, The Djinn, Fusion, Energy Wool, Companion, Teleportation and Power Reception. Which Septimas do you know about already?" Dr. Kamizono queried.
"Azure Striker, Muse, Lightspeed, Wormhole, Rebirth, Magnetism, Angered Explosion, The Fly, Psychokinesis and Hydro Pressure are the only ones I know anything about." Naomi answered.
"The plant Septima can quicken the growth of plants. Oscillation can make thins vibrate, it can even mimic an earthquake. The Teleportation Septima allows you to teleport yourself or any object to a certain area. Whether this ability can be used to move multiple people, objects or move you to an unknown location has yet to be confirmed.
Marionette is also known as the Puppetmaster Septima. It can use strings to manipulate machines that are otherwise inoperable. Detonation can compress energy into spheres, which can potentially be used as bombs. Duelist can alter the battlefield.
It allows you to create flames, magnetic waves, even an energy dome the opponent will take damage from if they leave it. Vectored Cloth has the ability to manipulate vectors. Anything it touches will have its inertia and direction changed. Your Pendulum Septima will behave exactly like the Vectored Cloth Septima.
Gravity Well lowers or increases the gravity in a focused area. One or multiple targets can be moved at once. Shockwave can send a wave of energy through any medium. And of your other Septimas can be used in conjunction with it.
Rewind Time allows you to rewind time from three seconds up to a minute. Golden Trillions is capable of both nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. Similar to Azure Striker, Golden Trillions can manipulate atoms as well. But the Azure Striker only manipulates electrons, Golden Trillions controls entire atoms.
Phantom Mist allows you to levitate, create solid illusions and transforming your body into mist. The Fly Septima shares a similar ability. One of which we'll get to later. Sandstorm manipulates sand at the will of the user.
It can be used as both an offensive and defensive skill. You can create projectiles, tall structures and barriers with it. Hot and Cold is really just a mix of Angered Explosion and Permfrost. Trick Bullet, or Trick Shot as it's sometimes referred, turns energy into different bullet types.
You can infuse Septimas into the bullets for different attack effects. Lightspeed will control photoons to manipulate light. Wormhole creates voids between space and time to connect locations. The portals can be used to travel or send attacks.
Metallon controls metal, including its shape and direction. It can even control the iron in blood. Metallon attacks are used in the form of a red liquid that isn't blood. Permafrost creates ice and freezes things.
Hack The Planet turns things into data and vice versa. The weilder and other people can be altered with this Septima. Ichor creates and controls liquids. The only known types are feshwater and saltwater.
Phantasm Mirror can create multiple types of illusions. It can seal spirits, then break the mirror they're contained in. Simple or complex copies of yourself or other Adepts can be generated with attacks and memories. You can also alter others perspectives of the environment.
Reverie Mirror can truly change reality rather than using illusions. Spiral creates spiraling energy that can be focused on enemies, deflect attacks or increase your speed. Geist generates energy that looks similar to ghosts. Overclock allows you to make calculations at the speed of light.
It has applications on the battlefield so you know your opponents move before they even make it. The Obliteration Septima allows you to gorily rupture bodies. They can explode as well. A random target will be selected if you think about death for a minimum of two minutes.
Magnetism is used to attract items or people to your location. They can be repelled as well. The Fly can turn your body into fly shaped energy. Anything those flies consume will turn into energy for you.
The Rebirth Septima can revive the dead and manipulate souls. Full resurrection of yourself and others is within its capabilities. Splitting Ends controls the way hair grows and moves. Prism Cataclysm creates and controls crystal with a similar color to amethyst.
Radiant Fetters seals your Septimas and those of others. Humans and robots can be affected by it too. The Djinn is very similar to the Muse. The only differences are it can have different effects on the listener and it has a longer natural range. Fusion draws together scrap and creates functioning machinery.
Just like Marionette, when the mechanus takes enough damage, it will be destroyed. Energy Wool creates fibrous energy that can be used to fabricate offensive attacks. You can envelop yourself in it for armor. Companion generates pink energy bits with multiple purposes.
Teleportation lets you teleport any kind of matter to a location you know of, including yourself. Your power reception Septima lets you mimic the Septima of a nearby Adept. All the Septimas I just mentioned are all the ones you currently have. Including the ones you mentioned, that concludes that you have every Septima currently in existence." Dr. Kamizono explained.
Mytyl checked if her jaw was still attached while Copen was looking at Naomi in a whole new light. Woried she was late to work, Naomi teleported back to QUILL HQ. While walking past Gunvolt and Zeno, Naomi was to dumbfounded to notice them or say hi. They definitely knew it was worse than they thought when she folded her arms and rested her head on them at her desk.
"I take it you didn't have a good lunch break?" Zeno supposed.
"Especially since I have a ton more Septimas than I thought." Naomi confirmed.
"What? You think just because you got more Septimas means that we don't want to deal with you anymore?' Zeno wondered.
"Don't you already hate me for having the same Septima as you?" Naomi mocked.
"C'mon man, I was supposed to be the only one capable of doing something like that. It was gonna make me the most epic chick magnet in the universe." Zeno groaned.
Xiao was looking over and decided to see what the problem was.
"I wouldn't come any closer if I were you. She could wind the time back a minute and go back home. Maybe never come back here too." Zeno snarled.
"Are you trying to make me start a next life as a villainess? No pun intended." Naomi interrogated.
"What I'm saying is you're no different from the likes of Sumeragi or Nova! You're just like the rest of them! Claiming that the work you do is for the greater good! Then when it all ails you cover it up with pretty lies and empty promises!" Zeno rebuked.
"She does it so we can get important information that's essential for our missions. If it wasn't for her we would have practically no data on Sumeragi. There's only two people within Sumeragi that know of her true purpose being there. One that I'm certain won't tell. And the other is too scared of her to say anything. So there's no need for you to be acting like this." Asimov reminded.
Zeno bent his head down in shame.
"If you knew what she's gone through you'd never think about something like that." Asimov stated.
"She breezes through everything and never does any actual work!" Zeno accused.
"She stays here updating files while you're out on missions. And when Naomi's not doing that she's working at Sumeragi trying to get more intel." Asimov corrected.
"She doesn't even have to- scratch that. She shouldn't even be working for Sumeragi! We hack them for our information! There's no reason that Naomi needs to go get it!" Zeno huffed.
"We get intel that can help us make a move before Sumeragi does. Information ranging from the Star Dragon to experiments and more. Most of it has come from Naomi. All of it being from personal experience." Asimov added.
"Great way to blow my cover!" Naomi fumed while sarcastically clapping.
"Wait a second, what kind of experience are we talking about though?" Zeno pondered.
"Do you want me to tell him about your twenty positions within Sumeragi? Or do you think you should tell him?" Asimov questioned.
"I'm going tell my brain that there's no need to set a random bush alight." Naomi seethed before walking off.
Moniq, Zeno, Xiao and Gunvolt were looking at Asimov and confusion. Gunvolt ran off after Naomi who was sitting on the couch. Lumen appeared and was sitting on the sofa's left arm.
"What was Asimov talking about?' Gunvolt queried as he sat down to the right of Naomi.
"I have twenty different positions in the Sumeragi. So, I have twenty thins I do or them." Naomi explained.
"I can't believe it's already five forty five. We'll see you tomorow Naomi." Moniqa smiled as she gathered her things and left. Naomi happily headed home. When Mytyl as Naomi why she was in such a good mood after dinner, Naomi talked until 8:57.
"Aw man, is it that late already? I'd better get to bed." Naomi noted.
So, she brushed her teeth and hopped into her pajamas. When Naomi woke up in a dream, she swore it was real. The only reason she knew it was fake was she couldn't feel cold. The two surgical lights had a circumference of nine inch pie tins with seven bulbs each sure seemed real enough.
The fact there was one of those lights on either side was logical. However, the stainless steel rectangle of metal she was bound to was silver in color and very odd. Naomi looked down best she could and saw three black inch and a half thick velcro straps. One was on the middle of her upper arms.
The second strap held her lower arms against her torso. The final strap restrained Naomi's lower thighs. Suddenly, she heard foosteps approaching the room. It was Dr. Kamizono and his assistant.
When she looked down and a little to her left, Naomi saw a small silver tray with some tools. One of which was a very intimidating scalpel. Which just so happened to be what the assistant picked up in his right hand. While he used the white cloth in his left hand to clean the scalpel, Naomi began freaking out.
Especially when her father picked up a gas mask, and placed it over Naomi's nose and mouth. She did her best to wriggle herself out of the restraints. Even tilting her head to avoid inhaling the noxious gas. The holding her breath tactic worked, until Naomi had to inhale again.
Soon, Naomi found herself getting tired. She couldn't tell if it was the massive energy drain from fighting or the anesthetic. The traumatized Primal Dragon found a worse feeling when her body lost all feeling and the scalpel was raised to her chest. Naomi didn't feel the pain so she realized the anesthetic must've been mixed with some pain numbing mediation beforehand.
What the medicine didn't prevent though, was how Naomi felt her skin and muscles split. The cutting above her collarbone induced no pain strangely enough. Nor the feeling of having blood trickling down her chest like a raindrop stream on a window. It was then that Naomi's consciousness abandoned her. Once awake again, the Septimal Striker found herself in a glass tube.
It looked exactly like the one Gunvolt said Asimov freed him from. Naomi's legs were folded under her. She had her head leaning forward against the glass. She saw the two most wanted Sumeragi scientists in her sights when Naomi lifted her head up.
"Prepare to move her to testing room three. We can't have this end like Takefutsu." Dr. Kamizono informed.
After that, Naomi fell back asleep. That morning, she woke up around 4:29. The nightmares she had re-assaulted Naomi's mind. So, she decided to check for an actual cut. At first, Naomi thought the was no signs of injury on her chest.
But after taking a second look, Naomi never wished more to be wrong in her entire existence. There, making a four inch diagonal line going up to down from right to left, was the surgical scar Naomi had recieved that night. Naomi didn't eat breakfast and teleported directly to QUILL HQ. Naomi found Asimov looking over data.
When she tried to talk to him, Naomi couldn't form any words. All the poor girl could do was cry. Asimov walked with Naomi to the interrogation room so they could talk in private.
"Why did you come here so early?' Asimov questioned.
"S-Sumeragi." Naomi wailed.
"Could you be a little more specific?' Asimov hoped.
"I had a nightmare that I was at S-FIT last night. I was strapped down to a metal table with black straps. There was two surgical lights above me. On the left was a tray with tools, including a scalpel.
You could imagine my surprise when I saw who it was. Mr. Yamato was cleaning the scalpel while my dad grabbed a gas mask. I tried to break the straps by hopefully squirming free. But the straps were as tight as Sumeragi's Glaive restrictions. After that, I held my breath and moved my head.
Though, I had to breathe again. Y'know, oxygen and all. After some fighting the mask, I got tired. Whether it was from the adrenaline wearing off or anesthetic kicking in is still beyond me.
Then, Mr. Yamato monitored the anesthetic administrations after he handed the scalpel over. Seeing that scalpel was one of the worst feelings considering how close to my chest it was. What I didn't know though, was how much worse it was about to get. I felt something snap in my chest.
I didn't feel any pain. But I knew something wasn't right. That's when I figured it out. My chest had been cut open.
My skin had retracted in the same way a stretched rubber band snaps and relaxes after being cut with scissors. I felt blood flowing from the cut like water in a stream. Right after that I passed out. Later, I woke up in one of those glass experimentation cylinders.
You won't believe what I heard. My dad said something. He said "Prepare to move her to testing room three. We can't have this end like Takefutsu." Naomi informed.
"This sounds serious. I'd advise you stay with Moniqa again tonight. If you don't want to stay with her, perhaps one of your friends in France would be happy to help you." Asimov advised.
"Just, please, don't confront him. I don't want anyone else suffering because of this. He probably didn't want to do it as much as I wanted to be involved. Which was in the negatives." Naomi warned.
A sudden thud was heard on the other side of the door. Which was followed by a sliding or dragging sound. Naomi opened the door to surprisingly see Joule and Mytyl passed out on the couch. Naomi facepalmed herself.
"I don't care what he said about the experimentation and giving me all those Septimas. I can use them for what I want. There's no point in operating on me anymore though if I already have every Septima in existence." Naomi rambled.
