The Archwizard Aims To Be The Most Popular Side-Waifu Character! 6 (Konosuba, Arue SI)

Don't you just hate it when the police knock on your door in the morning and ask you to come with them?

"There are fleshy tentacles crawling out of a hotel."

"Why am I not surprised... Give me a minute, let me get the usual documents."

I hate it when no one follows the instructions on the packet. I invested so much into those printing apparatuses for a reason!

"She signed a waiver?"

"Yep~"

"Nice. Now I don't have to deal with this!"

The policeman was well pleased with the fact that the responsibility can be passed on to the purchaser of the magic item. So long as the right documents were signed the police could just drop the matter and have whatever grievances caused between parties settled privately.

In other words, they didn't need to have the hassle of willing up paperwork and throwing someone in a jail cell.

We arrived at the so-called 'hotel' after walking south towards the walls for a few minutes.

It was too early for a crowd to gather at this time in the morning, thankfully, as there were huge and small tentacles protruding out of the holes, the windows and doors, of the hotel.

"Haa...haa! They're getting everywhere, ah~ No! I won't lose-"

And Darkness was tangled up in them, 'struggling' to escape from the windows, popping in and out of the mass of fleshy tentacles.

"Thank Eris you're here! Do something, that poor Crusader is being smothered and my hotel is being wrecked!"

I took out my sword and channeled my [Cursed Lightning] spell into it, stabbing one of the tentacles, immediately frying it until all that remained was residue.

Darkness fell out of the window, physically unhurt, but it looked like her heart was about to break.

"Mr. Flesh Prison…"

Don't name it! Especially not that name!

At this rate she was going to reveal her perversion to the world.

"The things I do for canon…"

I snapped my fingers and casted the [Sleep] spell on her. Knocking her out cold.

After that, I began discussing the private settlement in Darkness's stead, citing that she was a friend and I would be trying to get the best deal for her.

Thanks to the waiver she signed, and the fact that Darkness signed it with her real name, the owner of the cheap hotel would only be able to charge the masochistic Crusader for damages caused at a realistic amount, as he wouldn't dare cheat one of the nobles of the kingdom.

Also, I may have pointed out that his 'hotel' was an unpopular, overpriced inn with bad reviews from adventurers, so trying to claim more money from Darkness with the excuse of 'lost revenue' just wasn't going to cut it.

The police hadn't even bothered to stick around since the situation had been handled. The problems caused by my, I mean, Darkness's purchased magical items was between her and the aggrieved party.

Unintended or accidental misuse of magical items were covered under the Kingdom of Belzerg's laws a long time ago, due to bad record keeping, no one is exactly sure when it happened but the metaphorical 'straw that broke the camel's back' was apparently the creation of the Destroyer along with the destruction of the country of Noise.

In other words, it was the masochistic mad scientist that genetically engineered my ancestor's fault, which once again shows just how much impact the Isekai'ed people had on this world's laws and culture.

Once that was over, I went and grabbed Darkness's stuff lying about in her room, then carried it all back to my home seeing as the owner would definitely ban Darkness from staying there ever again.

I was about to open the door when Yunyun did so just before I touched the doorknob.

As if she was waiting right behind the door until I got back.

How unexpected.

"G-good morning Arue! Welcome back, how was your day!?"

"Yunyun, it's still morning, my day hasn't even started yet."

"Ahahaha! Y-yeah, I knew that! I must have gotten the time mixed up since yesterday was really exhausting and then I didn't see you besides me in bed and I thought I overslept and-"

"Yunyun, breathe."

She took a deep breath and calmed down. It turns out that being overly considerate and sneaking out of bed was a cause for panic for some reason.

Yunyun looked above my shoulder and saw Darkness sleeping there, along with her stuff on top of me.

"Um… is that Darkness?"

"Long story. Help me get this all in will you?"

I quickly explained what happened while omitting Darkness's obvious pleasure in the matter.

"So what now?"

I answered Yunyun's question by kicking Lalatina in the face.

"Kyaaaaa!" My friend screamed.

"Puwhaa!" Darkness squealed in pleasure.

"Youch!" I hurt my foot.

Casting a [Heal] spell from my ring alleviated the pain and removed the bruising.

"Huh? What? What happened to the tentacles?" The blonde noble continued to have a forlorn expression on her.

"That's the first thing you're asking about?!" Yunyun seemed a bit cranky this morning. Is she on her period? I have potions for that, one of the first potions I had gotten good at making, thank Eris for that.

"Your failure in following the clear instructions to not use more than three packets in one go just happened!" I fixed my face in a practiced sneer with my hands on my hips, looking down on the Dustiness heiress with a look of contempt, who only looked more excited to hear my continue speaking at her, "Are you so stupid that you can't even follow simple instructions? Who do you think had to negotiate the owner down so that you wouldn't be charged extravagantly for this mess you caused?!"

Yunyun looked at me like I've grown a second head. Meanwhile, Darkness was drooling in arousal and was nodding happily like a puppy at my words.

"Y-yes! Using just one pack was fun, then I tried it with three which was amazing and I just couldn't help myself! I-it was regrettable that I caused so much trouble-"

"Oh? It was only regrettable was it? You stupid wench. Didn't you think about the honest businessman's livelihood when you decided to risk his establishment by going past a magic item's safety limits?"

"I AM PROFOUNDLY SORRY!"

"And likewise you should be just as profoundly grateful that I smoothed things over when you were being a blithering perverted fool, hmm?!"

"YES!"

At that point it was too much for Darkness and she collapsed in pleasure.

"..."

"..."

"Oh wow, I didn't think she would end up like that." I crossed my arms and sighed sadly. "It's probably because she didn't get much real rest last night."

"... What kind of products are you selling?" Yunyun muttered in disbelief.

She ran upstairs after I got past the practical usages of "Instant Tentacles", such as when it could be used in conjunction with the Thief skill [Bind], and started explaining how it could be used to simulate being caught by a tentacle monster.

I made breakfast for everyone later when Darkness woke up groggily. She expressed how 'ashamed' she was for the incident, how she would make sure to pay for the damages and pay me back for helping to sort things out.

Yunyun looked like she didn't believe a word Darkness was saying.

"Since you saved me for being extorted by the perverted hotel owner-"

"Arue didn't say anything about him being perverted."

"-it's only right that I pay you back! Even if I don't have money right now I can take a loan! If not then I can pay with my body-"

"Don't do iiiiiit!"

"Hmm, actually, there might be a use for you."

"Arueeeeeeee!"

"There is!?"

"Your high magic resistance could be useful, I want to test the power of my spells and some of my magic items on you!"

"That works too!"

"That's what you meant…"

"I'll post a quest at the Guild in, say, two weeks time? I'll ask for an Archpriest too since it's best to have a healer on hand. It'll pay well too. Hazard pay, you understand."

"Hmm, I think Aqua would like that a lot. She didn't earn as much as she thought during the Cabbage Hunt."

"Yeah, I noticed."

Darkness left with her stuff after thanking me for my hospitality.

"... Arue, you hurt your foot on Darkness's face right?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I was just thinking that… Megumin's party has a... good shield."

"Mm-hmm. Agreed."

Yunyun looked like she wanted to say more on the matter but changed her mind.

She went off to take on a quest by herself. Right now, with Beldia's move to the old castle, which will start getting blown up by Megumin soon, there won't be many weak monsters around and only high-difficulty tests will be left.

And since this is Axel, there won't be a lot of them, and just because it's the super amazing OP Yunyun doesn't mean she could take on all the most difficult quests.

Even I had lots of problems with high-level quests back in my adventuring days… wow, here I am reminiscing about 'the old days' as if I was a retired adventurer. I must have been pretty successful if I can semi-retire and start my own business like this!

I continued working while attending to the store for most of the day, today I focused on fulfilling several orders from the capital and other organizations for some of my popular magic items.

Thankfully, my workshop golems have been refined to the point where they can engage in limited mass production methods, which cuts down the time I need to shape and arrange materials for magic items.

When the day was almost over, I closed the shop a bit earlier and left to visit my competitor's store.

"Welcome… Ah, Arue. It's nice to see you!"

"Hey Wiz, it's been awhile."

Not that we really considered each other as competitors. In my case, Wiz had her niche of selling overpowered and flawed items (thanks to her bad business sense and Megumin's father), while I had my own line of products. Also, she's too nice to think of me as her rival.

If I was an unreasonable person that didn't know the type of person Wiz was I would have bristled at the fact I wasn't considered a rival.

Right in front of me was one of the greatest native mages of the land, a successful and famous adventurer, someone who looted the Demon King's treasury after breaking into his castle and made the Demon King cry… and I wasn't even worthy of being considered a rival.

Not that she knew enough of my track record to even compare herself to me so obviously I wasn't really having such thoughts.

Well, anyways, I don't really mind not being a business rival. And part of me was scared of the competitive streak 'The Ice Witch' was known for, on the other hand, another part of me really wanted to fight her as an Archwizard to another Archwizard.

"Do you have any high quality Manatite?"

"I have a few with me right now. They're over there in that pile. I haven't found a supplier in a while, ah, but if you need it I can stock up on them for you!"

"That's very thoughtful of you but please don't do it for my sake! I mean, I can find them in other towns or in the capital, but you know me, ufufu, I like supporting local businesses."

"And I'm sure those local business owners appreciate your support."

Wiz smiled kindly and pressed her hands together.

"Oh right, before I forget, here, I brought some of my leftovers from lunch and a lot of homemade Biscotti. Please take it."

"Arue, I shouldn't-"

I gave her my puppy dog eyes until she gave up.

"Uuuu, if my junior insists…"

"Good, I don't want to hear about you subsisting on sugar water when possible."

She shrunk at my stern glare and chuckled nervously.

We caught up with each other as I carefully picked the Manatite that I wanted to purchase, Wiz was very enthusiastic about hearing the tale of Megumin and Yunyun's competition yesterday, she said that it reminded her of her adventuring days where they would compete for kills.

Then I told her about how I made a sale of my "instant tentacles" powder to Darkness. She was happy for me when she heard that I made a lot of money… then she started talking about some of her hopeful (bad) ideas which I thankfully, managed to talk her out of.

I then asked her for some advice on a couple of spells that she might have more familiarity with. She was very happy to dispense advice and tips on ice-element spells along with useful types of magic items she used throughout her life.

"By the way, do you have any interesting items with you?"

"How about this bottle that will explode on strong impact?"

"I'll take one and give it to Megumin as a gift. What's that weird bottle over there?"

"Ah, it's a Level Reset potion. It hasn't been sold for a long time and will expire in three months."

"I'll take it."

"Arue, you wouldn't happen to have an enemy you want to prank right?"

"Ufufu, this is for myself."

"Eh?! You shouldn't! It's hard to level up for someone with an advanced job like Archwizard! Don't throw away your life's work!"

"... I'm thirteen. And besides, I managed to get to my level in about a year or so. The capital is going to be attacked soon and with my magic power as it is, I could still annihilate most of the monsters to the point where I'll regain a good amount of levels instantly."

"But why… oh, the skill points!"

"Yeah, I need more skill points in my magic item and magic golem creating skills. I can get the other spells at high enough levels thanks to the help of my clan, but I have to improve those two skills myself if I plan to scale up production and the power of my items faster."

"That's a very well thought out plan Arue! You're such a smart girl!"

Wiz was now hugging me like I was her cute little sister. I had no complaints about this.

I mean… bewbs… how can I not enjoy this?

"Mmm… Wiz…"

"Oh, sorry!"

"It's fine. I'm not particularly… used to being hugged like that, but I don't dislike it."

"Arue… I'm so sorry."

"Don't misunderstand, my family is alive and well."

"Oh whew!"

"It's just that it's always been just my dad and I. I never knew my mother. And I'm usually the one hugging Megumin and Yunyun since I'm basically our school's older sister…"

"I'll be your big sister!"

For some reason or another, I think Wiz sees a bit of herself in me, or finds the fact that I kinda look up to her as a senior Archwizard kind of endearing.

After paying for everything I left Wiz's store on a good note and made my way to the Guild, spotting Kazuma and the gang eating together, I stopped by to give Megumin her explosive bottle as a present.

She appreciated it quite a lot, saying that she could now blow up small fry monsters without 'wasting' her Explosion Magic on them, as they wouldn't be very worthy of it.

Kazuma and Aqua disagreed and edged away from Megumin.

Darkness was there too and I went ahead and embarrassed her by telling her party of what happened today. Kazuma and Aqua were even more disturbed by Darkness when I lamented how their party member fainted as I was berating her.

After that, I went home and found Yunyun preparing dinner for me.

"Oh, that smells quite good Yunyun."

"Ehehe, I'm hoping this turns out well. I may not be as good as you in the kitchen, but I hope the Unicorn Bunny meat will make up for it!"

"Those buggers?"

They were rabbit monsters with sharp horns protruding from their foreheads. Despite their cute appearance, they are carnivorous, usually traveling and attacking in large groups. That said, they normally wouldn't appear around Axel.

"The quest was quite far away. There aren't many quests near town since one of the Generals moved into the castle."

"That's true… so, why don't you head over to the next town, Rivia? You know, the one purportedly started by that white-haired cheater. You're bound to get nearer quests at a better difficulty level to your capabilities."

"E-eh!? B-but that would mean…"

From her sad look, I immediately realized she was worried about me kicking her out and thought I didn't want her living with me.

"... You do realize you could just mark a spot outside of town and just teleport back to my home every night or when it's convenient for you."

"Heh!? O-oh yeah! I didn't think of that!"

"Mm-hmm… so make sure you don't get back home too late, eh?"

At my smile, Yunyun nodded and smiled brightly, understanding that her home was right here.

"Okay Arue! Ah, ah, do you think I should walk there or take a carriage. I heard that it wasn't too far."

"The route there is quite scenic. It's up to you really. But if you do head there, do get me a pack of their famous Gwent cards okay?"

"Will do. Ah! Right, the food!"

I helped Yunyun salvage the food before she burnt it after getting distracted by our talk, after that, we enjoyed a nice meal and bath together before heading to bed.

"Eep! Arue?"

"Zzz…"

Pretending to sleep, I made sure to pull Yunyun into a hug, lightly brushing the upper part of my arm underneath her breasts.

"Oh, you're already asleep. Hehe, sweet dreams."

Don't mind if I do~ Ufufu~
