The voice that last spoke to me faded out as I suddenly awoke in an empty, foreign yet strangely familiar house.

Memories of a life that I had lived through in this different world arose in my mind. This was another world, no doubt about that, but the life I lived here was so comfortably similar to that of my first life.

Lucas Meyer had a pair of loving parents and a younger sister. Just like me.

Like before, I was very close to my younger sister, we watched the same shows and read the same comics together, I helped her study and complete her homework like the good older brother I was back when I was a teenager.

My mother was just as good as a cook in this life, as she was in the other life. She was a great cook, loved making food for us. She and my father worked together in a small company they owned though the nature of their business was a lot different due to the presence of mega-corps in this world. My father was overweight due to all the good food we had access too, heh, and like before he had started to think about my future and was speaking to me about what subjects to take in the future from an early age upon assessing my grades.

We were a nice, normal, loving family.

I had been wholly comfortable with living a normal unremarkable life so long as I had the people I loved in my life.

Memories of a magical beast tearing through the bodies of my parents, monsters killing hundreds more people at the shopping mall, a dragon-like monster crushing my sister as I cowardly hid within the changing room of the clothes store we were visiting at the time forced its way into my mind.

"What the fuck… why… am I crying?" Unbidden tears came to my eyes as I clutched my chest when I felt a numb, yet cold pain sprout from my center.

Even though they were supposed to just be another set of memories, of another person's family, they were so close to my own family as a child that I couldn't stop seeing their faces in place of the ones that died in front of me.

I remembered that the whole thing was covered up as a gas explosion, of all fucking things, even after the few survivors of the incident, myself included, had given testimonies to the police of the atrocity that had been committed.

Nothing was done about it. It was the Integrated Enterprise Foundation's (IEF's), the corrupt greedy Mega-Corps that took power in this world, that had something to do with it.

That much was obvious even for a teenage boy of this world.

"Ha...haha… Of course. Why did I expect any less? The seemingly harmless entity that sent me here wouldn't give me an excuse to do nothing in this world."

I wouldn't begrudge my patron for that, okay, maybe a little because this emotional pain that came with it hurts a lot more than I would expect it to. But in the end, I expected situations like this, I knew what I was getting into when I finished that CYOA...

Well, except for the choice of a fictional world, that sole choice was taken out of my hands. I had really wanted to aim for a world where I could get some lewd harem girls.

Unfortunately, I was sent into a world that I knew little about, other than the fact that the anime was an uninspiring generic light novel adaptation compared to Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, which aired at the same season.

I had read through most of the light novels for the latter, but as for the former, I had dropped it after the first episode.

"Not that a little ignorance will stop me."

Invertia.

The event that changed this world occured in the 20th century, some time after the second world war. Meteorites rained down for three days and three nights across the world, causing mass destruction, death and upheaval. The deterioration of existing nation-states and the rise of integrated enterprise foundations... and unsettling changes in ethical values.

After all, what can you expect when for-profit companies start running the world? I will give them some credit for the fact that most genuinely helped the world picked up the pieces, but its been hundreds of years since then, and the people are clearly under oppression and many problems have resulted from the profiteering actions of these mega-corps.

Then there's the 'magic' part of the equation.

So yeah, the meteorites were totally magic. The meteorites that had fallen to Earth in the Invertia contained some element that everyone calls mana because its fucking magic and this is a light novel series so why not call it something as fucking generic as that!?

And the ores within the meteorites are called manadyte. Crystallized Mana. Surprise surprise.

In any case, people figured out a way to artificially manufacture it, new streams of research called meteoric engineering, explosions in technological advancement, yadda yadda… that all happened.

What really concerns me is the fact that no astronomical observatories detected the shower in advance, nor were the aerosols that should have been generated on impact observed.

Either there was a collective effort to sabotage all astronomical equipment so that the world would not be forewarned… or the meteorites were somehow summoned or teleported there from another dimension, or something equally as terrifying. Considering the magical weapons made from Urm-Manadyte, the more denser and powerful versions of the usual ores were rumored to have a sort-of will of its own, I'm betting there's some great evil out there pulling the strings...

Wonderful, yet another evil in this world other than the obviously evil mega-corps.

Oh yes, the meteorites also made a small amount of the population magical. Most of the people say that it's an emergence of a new race of human beings, born from the mana carried to Earth by the meteorites. I say that they're just humans that are a little stronger than baseline humans.

At any rate, these scientific community fuckers decided to call them Genestella because clearly we needed a more fantastical name, anyways, they are generally considered the Mutant population of this world and had enhanced physical abilities by default... with a tiny 3.6% of Genestella having special abilities that are basically magic.

Yes, magic. And you know what that means… more series specific terminology! For some fucking reason everyone decided to have different labels for female and male Genestella's with magical powers, calling them Strega's and Dante's… I bet that it's because the author was picking out random folklore related names for magical people then arbitrarily decided the readers needed some special terminologies added to their light novel.

… Anyways, the people of this world are less horrible than the average Marvel universe citizen with regards to the Genestella and will happily watch these mana-enhanced superhumans beat the shit out of each other in a gigantic tournament arc held on an artificial island. Huzzah.

Hmm, if I recall correctly, the main character who's name I didn't bother to remember would have been one of these humans that gained mana affinity after the meteorite event. After all, there's now way you can have a genuine badass normal in a world where your harem is probably superhuman, right?

Well, good for him, oh unknown harem protagonist.

I'm clearly either a mob character or side character at best.

Given that I'm a baseline human.

Until now, that is, if only because I have various powers including infinite mana. Yet I wouldn't be classified under this world's definition of Genestella since I don't have enhanced physical abilities by default.

"And my abilities are way too fucking strong even without that."

I could take on the cruel Mega-corps by my lonesome if needed. Not now, certainly not when I was utterly inexperienced, but even then… I was immortal. To a point. My Extra Lives power gave me the ability to be their most persistent enemy yet!

Point is that worse comes to worst I can keep trying, again, and again and again…!

Still, I'd rather not commit to using suicide missions as my go-to strategy.

"Even so, these fuckers are going down."

This wouldn't be for revenge. I wasn't unreasonably angry about the contrived tragic events that took away my family of this life.

I was mad, it still hurts, but I intellectually knew that the real tragedy was that the people of this world had to live with their reality and there were people worse off than me while I had it easy in comparison… and in my heart I knew that some part of me didn't consider this world, this life and this family to be "real" enough to warrant mindless, cliche hate.

"This would be for great justice, this won't be mindless violence…" I still needed to make many promises to myself in order to calm my furious heart.

I wasn't going to be an edgy, self-righteous Gary Stu character. I know that what I'm planning to do will result in me killing a lot of people that may or may not deserve it, I may have the right intentions at heart but I wasn't going to think I would be a wholly good person if I plan to dismantle a worldwide institution held up and wholly owned by mega-corps.

After all, there were normal people, people like my parents and other parents that would work for these companies either directly or indirectly. The lives of others would be affected, maybe even destroyed, but I couldn't just sit here and let a blatantly evil entity, an affront to what I believed was good and right, to go unpunished…

Making an oath to myself to change this world, I proceeded to recall every last bit of my build for the CYOA. It was time to test out my powers.

Infinite Mana.

I released my absurd amount of mana, endless in its entirety, but kept it restrained to just under my skin without letting any of it leak out to the environment.

I felt my body become… more, for lack of a better word.

I threw a punch and I knocked down the sofa in the living room. Without touching it.

I walked all the way to the living room from the kitchen I was pacing about it, put the sofa back in its place, then walked back to my starting position.

This time I focused my mana in my fist more intently.

Releasing my attack, this time, the force of my punch carried through the air did not knock down the sofa.

A fist size hole was formed instead.

"Hahahahaha! Mana control for the win! I knew taking a page from Ikki Kurogane's book would be useful." And that was just when I was scratching the surface of my power!

My maximum output was absurdly high but infinitely small compared to my endless reserves of power. My gut instinct tells me that I only managed to put in around 5% of my maximum output to enhance my current physical attributes just then. That output could still grow higher the more I got used to this power, and mana control was going to be equally, if not more important as time goes on since I needed to draw the most bang for buck out of my infinite mana reserves and current capacity at any time.

In a few years I could become a physical god. Of course, I won't stop with just that, I needed a much better use of my mana and I knew just how to get it.

But that will be left for later.

Now then, Item Replication with the Perfect Replication upgrade… I recalled my thoughts on how I was going to munchkin this power. Since I didn't have the Planar Portal upgrade to my World Portal powers, I couldn't just jump to the Sonic Universes and grab a Chaos Emerald, duplicate them endlessly then use Chaos Control to freeze time and loot every powerful mystical item across worlds then become a god in my own right with all my shiny loot.

But there were other ways to munchkin this.

I opened my fridge, still somewhat stocked with food despite living alone in this house for days, touched an apple and grabbed some ice cubes from the freezer section.

Sofa, Fridge, Apple, Ice Cubes… they were just there for me to manifest. It was like I had an electronic search engine in my head and I could just think up whatever I wanted, and if I had touched an item before, the search engine would turn up a result and an item could be replicated.

Just like that, I had dozens of apples and ice cubes duplicated unto the dining table.

I put some of the ice cubes and placed them in a pot, turned on the stove and watched it melt.

The water remained even when I tried to dismiss those specific ice cubes.

I took a hammer and smashed some ice cubes.

The shards of ice could be dismissed, the melted shards couldn't.

I did similar experiments with the apple. Blended apples couldn't be dismissed, sliced apples could. Then I ate an apple and decided to wait for it to digest.

In the meanwhile, I decided to test out my Swift Learning by going through news articles and research about this world. Since the whole setting involves a huge tournament arc taking place on an artificial island, where there are multiple schools set up and backed by one of the six IEF's each… it was clearly where the main story would take place.

It means that if there was any secret conspiracy or greater evil at work, all of it will find its way to the main protagonist and its harem on the island, which means I have to make my way there… at Seidoukan Academy.

While I knew little about the plot, nor which of the six schools that MC attended, this was the only school that had a Japanese name so it must be the one where the Japanese MC will attend!

Hahahahaha! I'm a genius!

Bow before my genre savviness! Bow ya shits!

Anyhow… megalomania aside, I was certainly processing things a lot faster than I could back in my most hard-working times. I felt as if I could remember everything a lot better too.

I spent a couple of hours going through all the sci-fi like technological advancements and research papers, and found myself capable of comprehending most of it.

I felt like I could build one of those 'Lux' weapons in a cave with a box of scraps and a shitty Manadyte ore if I had to.

By then, I felt a loss of 'connection' or awareness to the apple I consumed.

Item Replication power testing complete.

I could replicate food infinitely and have the nutrition remain so long as it has been absorbed into the body. With the ice test, I had essentially proven I could duplicate infinite water and raw materials so long as they had been changed from their initial state to a different state.

Which means, if I duplicated thousands of golden rings, melted it down and reforged it into a gold bar… that gold bar would be completely 'real' and could not be dismissed with my powers.

Boy oh boy… I'm going to have a blast exploiting this.

Now then… World Portal and Teleportation.

Teleportation first.

I want to go back to my bedroom.

EH!? So quick!? It was instant! I was here!

Holy shit this is so fucking cool I'm going to be a teleporting badass oh my god!

I mean… yeah, this is overpowered, and my civilian persona is not going to be using this in public. Hmm, a bit more tests…

I started to throw a punch and thought of the sofa in the living room.

My fist went through the hole in the sofa just as I finished that thought.

This is going to an absolute monster of a power in combat…!

It would be difficult as hell for anyone to predict where my attack would be coming from if I could just half-complete the motions and appear wherever I want.

I could just make a stabbing motion, teleport to a place where my weapon would go through someone's neck, and that would be that! Well, they would have to be in my line-of-sight, but that's still awesome!

Now then… World Portal.

Time to go to another world, by my own power, this time around…

I swiped my hand and a portal appeared instantly.

I stepped through… and it was my neighborhood.

I teleported onto the roof of one of the houses, then 'jumped' across to another roof and spied a home that looked exactly like my own.

"... Thank god. Thank goodness…"

Seeing the people there, an iteration of 'me' in another world, my family still laying about in the living room watching a movie together… at least I have the chance to watch over my family, of a sort.

This was Earth, a different Earth, yet one close enough that normal people like my family could live their lives just as always.

This was Terra Omega, one of the CYOA options, a world with Nintendo and Mcdonalds, no weird anime alternative names required. Slightly more high-tech, but nonetheless, it was Earth… with superheroes and supervillains.

The setting was basically Sky High in the sense that governments fund schools for Superheroes and sponsor superhero teams to fight against Supervillains. There was more to it but for the sake of my plans I couldn't really stay in this world for the long term.

I teleported large distances by 'line-of-sight' that really could send my forward by many kilometers. I once teleported all the way to a faraway mountain by mistake when I saw it on the horizon. Thankfully, I could just teleport back to the city just as easily…

In any case, I managed to duplicate some small notes that I managed to touch, then managed to enter an internet cafe. I quickly did some research (while touching everything of use, I'm going to be the world's most hated window shopper~) of the world and found that there are also independent vigilantes in this world, which are generally allowed to operate in public without fear of arrest, unless they broke certain laws… in my opinion, that makes this a way better world than My Hero Academia.

There were also magical heroes like 'Merlin' and a Sorcerer Supreme equivalent, which means I could also learn magic and get magical artifacts from here! There's so much stuff to copy I can hardly wait to get started!

I decided to go to one of the most popular shopping malls to 'stock up' on items. After a few hours of touching everything like the annoying thirteen year old child that I was (for the moment), I was ready to call it a day until I heard the crowd screaming!

Eh!? A bank branch had just been robbed!

I was watching all of this on the floor above, as was a good amount of the population, all with their phones out taking videos and pictures of the occasion.

There were some guards with some high-tech looking pistols ready for action, but a man in a full-body high tech suit appeared out of nowhere, carrying bags of money, tapped a button on his wrist to fire a bolt of light at the guards from his outstretched hand!

"Fools! You think your inferior weaponry is equal to my genius!? I, Professor Lightray, will teach you a lesson you will never forget! Class is in session, BITCHES!"

"Oh fuck he's actually monologuing… this is kinda fun."

Then a muscular man in a bright costume, a discount All Might, smashed through the walls and started saying some heroic things while trying to subdue the supervillain.

"Professor Lightray! Fresh out of prison and you're already up to your old tricks? How disappointing…"

Oh joy, a revolving prison door. Okay, not so cool.

But hey! I'm watching a superhero and archnemesis (or previously met enemy, at the least) duke it out!

Unfortunately, the hero seemed to only be superhuman at best, and the supervillain was going invisible before coming out of invisibility to take pot shots at him.

Is that Klingon honor at work?

… No, wait, he's pressing buttons on the wrist controller embedded into his costume to fire both the light beams and go invisible… the suit doesn't have enough power or capacity to do both!

He has to decloak in order to fire his weapon.

Honestly, though, why is he even fighting? Couldn't he just have made off with the money?

Right… supervillain. Crap, don't I have a couple of supervillain tendencies as part of my Anime Quirk drawback?!

I am so going to do something embarrassing to the point where I want to cry at some point…

Hmm, looks like the hero is losing. His toughness is impressive but it looks like this guy's light-based weaponry really hurts.

It's time to introduce myself.

I made my move before he could cloak himself again, teleported just under him and pulled his other arm down before he could press the buttons.

"I've got him. Take him down now!"

"What the- You brat!"

"TAKE THIS!"

The guy's face got smashed in.

"Heh. Light's out big guy."

I couldn't resist quipping.

When I realized what I had done, I gasped in horror and teleported myself back to my home… back in the anime world.

Teleportation works across worlds without the need for portals, great, wonderful…

Wait a fucking second!

I snapped my fingers and duplicated the full-body invisibility suit that the supervillain had.

"Holy shit… I am going to loot all the supervillain and superhero tech… then all the mystical hero and villains artifacts… jackpot!"

I did my happy Konosuba dance while humming the second OP for a bit before I got serious again. The time was synced up between both worlds… though it was still "day" over here while night over there due to the country time zone differences.

I managed to teleport back into Terra Omega's iteration of my own room after making sure no one was there, I knew my habits around this time and knew I would head down to spend some family time right now… I then closed 'my' room door and locked it from the inside.

I went for the safe deposit box. The code was the same. The contents were the same.

I duplicated the cold coins and cash, locked it up, then unlocked my bedroom door and teleported back to the other world.

Easy source of gold, perfect…

It's all coming together now.

Train my ass off physically and magically, get more resources to fund everything, get more technology from both worlds, reverse engineer technologies using my improved intelligence, learn magical skills, then use all of that to help the people of my second life's homeworld… invade the mega-corp facilities to copy their stuff, learn the secrets of this world, then recruit the MC and his harem for their plot armor in order to help me achieve my goals!

Unfortunately, due to the watchful eyes of the mega-corps, in order to get into the Seikoudan Academy where the main plot would take place I would need to continue attending Middle School.

I was currently living in Switzerland, which had devolved back to a monarchy, thanks to the mega-corps figuring out that it was easier to control countries through puppet leaders that way.

Thanks to some weird laws my family's home would still remain mine so long as I could pay the bills. That wouldn't be a problem thanks to my endless supply of gold.

With that settled, I now had to plan how I would get to the school that more often than not, is a Genestella majority student body.

I was a baseline human and I wasn't going to change that impression. Even if I could escape easily, I could be harassed and hunted as a prized specimen, after all, if my powers were discovered I would be considered "proof" that humans could turn into Genestella's.

That would be way too troublesome.

It would be preferable if I had influence with my civilian persona for the sake of my plans, but it had to be carefully controlled, I needed to be the Badass Normal of this story.

In order to get a special transfer to the academy or not be excluded from the normal examinations, I needed to perform exceptionally well in academics, which shouldn't be an issue… but the extra-curricular activities that showcase my various talents as an individual is going to be a drag in my training schedule.

Still, it must be done.

Also, I will then need to invent a badass suit that contains lots of tech while also enabling me to use my mana-enhanced body freely that wouldn't be traceable to my civilian identity.

With that mysterious alter ego in place, I will be able to battle the mega-corps without minimal interference.

Oh right, I needed a name for that too! A really cool name that screams justice upon the corrupt mega-corps.

That said I won't color it red nor have any Anarchist or Communist associations to it.

Red is a heroic color, but I don't want to accidentally start any movements that would get the people that sign up for them killed by the mega-corps, I would need something more… dark.

… That's probably my inner chuunibyou at play here, isn't it?

3 Years Later…

I'm not sure if all my efforts to get into the school was wasted or actually played a role in what had occured.

Somehow, I had gotten a special scholarship invite from the Student Council President of the academy I was aiming for, Seidoukan Academy.

Claudia Enfield… She's beautiful and all but her parents are part of the mega-corp backing the school. That's worrying, really worrying.

That said, I've heard nothing but good things about her, and when I look at the other schools and how they're run, the blonde bombshell "Seito-kaichou" might be a Saint in comparison.

Children are not responsible for the sins of their parents, and all that jazz. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

That said… It's quite clear that someone related to Seidoukan Academy, and "Galaxy" the IEF backing it, is interested in me and my public talents.

From the way that my anime quirk manifested itself almost every day for the past three years, it's quite clear that someone, one of the higher ups in these institutions, was aware of me and has been talking or thinking about me strongly.

Well, there's nothing they can do about it anyways. I'm too overpowered for this shit.

If it weren't for the fact that mass chaos would cause too much civilian deaths and give a chance for whatever secret villains (who are astonishingly hard to find when you don't know where to look) to enact their plans easily in the midst of all that I would have just taken down the mega-corps and be done with it.

Thankfully, I'm a sensible person that knows I need a system ready to take the place of the old system before I enact any grand scale changes… Unfortunately, I spent so much time developing myself that I kinda forgot to work on that part.

… So yeah. In the end, considering that there were a couple of very convenient privileges attached to it, I, Lucas Meyer, could hardly turn down the scholarship offer.

I was now in the academy's auditorium listening to the student council president, who was a first year high school student (middle school, high school and college level students are all in the same facilities) and had just started her 3rd year tenure, give her speech to the students.

It was quite different from Earth and Terra Omega, considering that the content revolved around how the Genestella all came here for their own selfish wishes to compete with each other, to test their strength and all the usual battle academy shenanigans instead of making friends, joining a club, preparing for university and other normal stuff.

I watched the way she gave her speech while making sure to make her way, with her eyes, from one end of the auditorium to the other. As if assuring everyone that they were being spoken to.

"-I believe that this year will be different for Seidoukan Academy. Our school's performance at the Festa in recent years has hardly been commendable. Last season, we finished in fifth place. Queenvale took last place, but considering that part of their strategy is to completely ignore their own rank, we mi-"

She looked up to the students in my area then stopped abruptly as… if I wasn't mistaken, just as our eyes met.

She coughed a bit, apologized and continued as if nothing happened, "-We might as well have finished last. We will do whatever it takes to break out of this sorry state of affairs, and to that end, I ask that all our promising students to try their utmost-"

Something was very, very odd here…

Is she planning to assassinate me or something?

Did I accidentally foil an assassination attempt by sheer luck and she was surprised to see me alive? Was this my Sasuga moment and I completely missed it?

Hmm, a question for later then.

Now then… I opened up the pamphlet containing the ranked students of this school.

Which of these filler characters should I aggravate to force a duel with?

I need a way of jumping the ranks.

Stomping these kids in a fight as a 'normal' human would be just the thing...
