Local Dragon Ruins History (Waifu Catalog, Nasu!Mythology)

"Oh my. You're finally awake. Not that you were asleep for more than a few seconds but never-mind that! You were brought here too, just like me."

A cave? I woke up to an unfamiliar-

Wait, if I keep staring at the ceiling then my thoughts would go in a very boring direction.

… I'm unsure if this eerily calm way of processing my environment and thoughts would be more preferable than a 'boring' but natural reaction.

Half the voices in my head scream at me at how unnatural things were and that our, my thoughts, had been tampered with. The other half agreed but insisted that being calm and rational was a good thing right now.

"Hey, are you listening to me?!"

The conflict in our min- my mind… my mind… distracted me from perceiving the speaker.

Even as I turned my head around, along with my focus, towards the feminine voice I managed to immediately note that my body had changed, even improved upon… compared to my previous human lives.

Hoo boy, I'm basically an artificial human with the memories of several other humans, aren't I?

This is some real sci-fi shit. Reminds me a bit of Psycho-Pass… huh, how odd, all of my previous lives are aware of that series.

Now that I think about it, despite the differences in locales and occupations, the humans that I were made of felt... strangely similar to one another.

I guess I can't cross out parallel dimensional counterparts as a preliminary theory.

The fact -that we- that I had such similar opinions and ideas seems to lend credence to this possibility.

Well, at least I came out of it with increased processing power! If this is my Isekai cheat then I would be okay with it.

My moment of accelerated thoughts came to a crashing halt as I took in the appearance of a cute young girl with long striking green hair that reached her knees. Her elf-like ears and her obviously fantasy-theme clothing made it clear that she wasn't a normal being.

Then again, I'm a complete mess that can't possibly be considered a normal human, so what the hell is normal supposed to be anyways? Bah, not that it matters anymore, this is clearly an Isekai setting which means I can embrace my inner chuuni and kick normality to the curb!

"Well…?!"

I have a faint recollection of the green-haired immortal loli, I didn't have time to process the deluge of information that was now flooding into my mind, but knowing the tropes, I knew it was best to keep overpowered lolis happy lest I end up dead.

"Hello there. Nice to meet you… I don't suppose you have any idea what's going on?"

"Hmm… no, I can't say I do. I have not seen the likes of you before. Though for a second there, it looked as though you recognized me."

"I'm pretty sure you're a goddess considering that we, I mean, I've read about you in a character history page before. And at the very least, I'm pretty sure these are one of the typical 'another world' scenarios. A common genre for stories."

Might as well be direct about it. My mind isn't settled enough to say anything that wasn't the truth at this point. Heck, I can't even tell if any of my previous life was real or not… Nothing is true, everything is permitted… wait, stop it voices! Wrong context!

"I see. Well that makes things a little easier. Still, this world is not one that I recalled creating back then… it feels very different. Anyways, My name is Sothis. I'm also known as... Hm?" The goddess from one of the newest Fire Emblem games paused in her introduction, holding up her hand in front of her in order to examine it, "How curious. I feel as though my original form has been restored somewhat… my apologies, I was distracted over a change in my body."

"You and me both. I can't recall any of our… of my memories, if only because it feels like I've lived through several different lives."

"An odd form of reincarnation. Still, I do believe names are important for humans, it wouldn't do for you to continue speaking as if you do not know yourself."

Unintelligible murmurings filled my mind, the noise was deafening and felt as if it had gone on for minutes, though in reality, only two seconds had passed.

"Nikaias. That will do."

"Huh. I shall never grow accustomed to the sound of human names. Very well then, let us speak and uncover the mystery of how we were taken out of our worlds now, shall we?"

The girl started floating in the air as if resting on an invisible couch. She was resting her head on her hand, giving off a rather sophisticated appearance.

"Sounds like a plan. I'll start. Well… I lived a lot of normal human lives, slept in my bed… or died in some of them… and woke up like this. Pretty sure my body has been drastically improved too. All of them feel like 'me' but are ever so slightly different. I'll get used to it in time."

A small smile formed on her face, "Of course you will. After all, humans are amazingly adaptable."

I nodded and continued on, "I'm familiar with these 'another world' scenarios, which often involve people of my mundane world being brought to new unfamiliar worlds or familiar worlds thought to only exist in fiction, such as being sucked into your favorite storybook. I know that you are a goddess because you are recorded as such and this would fit into the second scenario I mentioned."

She leaned forward with interest, "Oh my. How interesting. Hmm… I wonder if accounts of my existence would be portrayed more accurately."

"Well, you aren't demonized as a false god or anything, but you weren't believed to be real in our world either. I'll keep it short. You're a Progenitor Goddess that descended upon Fodlan, uplifted the people there, some magi-tech smart-asses thought you were a demon, launched their weapons of mass destruction in order to try to kill you, failed badly but damaged the world severely. After that, you spent most of your power fixing the world over hundreds of years, went into a deep sleep while the remnants of those crazies formed a deadly conspiracy. They hired some random bandit to kill you in your sleep, forge weapons out of your remains and proceed to, well…"

I trailed off working on the assumption that this wasn't the amnesiac Sothis from the game. It wouldn't be very nice to bring up the slaughter of her children, people and the bloodshed from the game regardless of which 'route' she was on.

She sighed and nodded, "Yes, I remember. That will be enough, anything else would be superfluous given that we are most certainly not in the world from which I came. Well then… let us examine everything we know and around us."

It took a few moments for Sothis to confirm that I wasn't a normal human, though it came as a big shock to me that she claimed that I was a dragon, similar yet different, to some of her children that were dragons themselves!

"Wait a second… being sent to another world with a cute girl near me, turning into a dragon… I think we're in a 'writing prompt' scenario here. Give me a moment."

Sothis watches with curiosity as I fumbled around with my 21st century, modern day clothes.

I found the smartphone and started it up.

"Eyup. Figures. It's a catalog one with everything filled up. For a type of story that usually makes one spoiled for choice, turns out that I'm not given a choice at all!"

"Hmph! How rude of you to speak of our circumstances as if you're the only one dragged into this!"

"Ah! Sorry! Take a look at this, don't worry, I'll explain as we go through it."

Leftover Points - None

I spent a long time clarifying certain points about each and every perk from a power-gamers and a writer (of lewds) point of view so that Sothis understood the purpose of the scenario.

We got into a minor disagreement on the nature of The Company, namely between her insisting that since they were able to reform a copy of her, they must be considered a 'greater god' if but a malicious one. On the other hand, I insisted on just classifying them as a higher dimensional corporate being, given that they didn't fit my definitions of a god.

Aside from that minor dispute, Sothis was overall pretty accepting of her new 'purposeful' existence, the fact that I wasn't the one to drag her into this mess helped a lot in preventing any form of resentment from her end.

"Well, this is all very useful and good to know-" Sothis certainly appreciated the shared Soul Talent and many defences making it easier to adapt to the world, "-but what shall we do from now on? You seem familiar with this world."

I took another look at the time period we were in.

"Oh fuck. We have 1,000 years before a god-killing, civilization annihilating, magic-eating alien arrives on Earth. The Velber… fuuuuck, I would have suggested taking a vacation to a different galaxy, if it weren't for the fact that this world could either continue on as normal or end up fucked over in the long run based on this one event and that we really should keep track on which route we're on."

"That does sound alarming... oh, carry on!"

I explained a bit more on the White Titan, about how close the world would come to annihilation when it invaded both the Moon and Earth simultaneously, that it would have destroyed most of mankind's earliest civilizations before being defeated by the wielding of Excalibur.

"Thing is, one of the civilizations they are supposed to annihilate is Atlantis, where the 12 Machine Gods that have been given Authority by an even bigger machine called Chaos, are currently governing for a certain group of humans. In normal pan-human history, that is the main timeline, these Machine Gods would hang around in their own domains and battle Sefar with little unity, resulting in the destruction of their true bodies and remaining as Divine Spirits."

"Divine Spirits?"

I quickly explained the concepts of 'human observation' and its importance in this world, and how Divine Spirits can be broadly classified between those things that were already there that became gods after becoming objects of worship and those that were reborn as gods. More worship equals more power, lack of worship leads to irrelevance, and all that.

I also threw in something about Authorities, which Sothis essential had an equivalent of with her control over Time.

"Anyways, the danger lies in the other possibility, where their leader Zeus says fuck it and forcibly combines with all the machine gods to defeat Sefar. Since they remained in their machine bodies they end up with a lesser understanding of humanity and decided to 'administer' humanity themselves later on, not all agreed but, well… Zeus wanted to control humans and keep them reliant on the gods, he had all their powers because he combined with all of them that one time and you can guess how the war ended up. That timeline is basically a dead-end, the universe pulls the plug on that timeline at some point and it ends up destroyed due to unknown reasons like all the other abandoned timelines."

Cue explanation of Quantum Time-Locks and culling of adjacent worlds.

"In my honest opinion, it's just a way for the author of this universe to keep track of timelines and make sure that his 'limited happiness' thing is maintained throughout the story by forcing history to repeat itself no matter how much you try to change it. Can't have too much happiness because everyone in the Fate verse has to suffer."

"Can I just say that this world already sounds depressing enough that I want to go into a deep slumber and not wake up? If I could remake this world myself, I would."

"Though I feel that way as well since I'm… well, living in this damn place, I get the feeling that you won't want to settle for that."

Sothis stopped floating and stood back on the ground, flashing me a grin as she materialized a sealed letter in her hand.

"As you might have known, my spirit exists beyond the material world and time itself. Just as I was considering the futility of assisting this world's humans-"

"-you mean engaging in your serial uplifting habits?"

"How rude of you to interrupt me!"

Sothis huffed and pouted angrily at me.

What? It was true. She did uplift the people of Fodlan with no benefit to herself and sacrificed her power to fix their world despite being capable of traversing over to another world.

Sothis can be counted one of the most benevolent deities for the fact that she helped humans without asking for anything in return and only smote them out of righteousness or in self-defense.

"Sorry, bantering is a habit of mine with friends."

Her anger quickly dissipated.

"Well… don't do that again, at least, not right now. We can converse leisurely another time."

According to my Tsundere translation package, what she meant to say was "Yeah, we're friends. You're forgiven, let's try again in private".

"Where was I… oh yes, I received this letter all of a sudden just when I was about to put aside my plans for the humans of this era. I've already read it, it's sealed again since I reversed the flow of time on it. Go ahead."

I took the letter and opened it up. My eyes widened at the content detailing the writer's knowledge of our existence (some of the voices began to make notes on getting Destiny Defense to prevent this from happening again) and that this timeline would likely survive on even without help from 'The World'.

"The handwriting is terrible. It kinda looks like mine… waaaait a second…"

I can't say the scenario was impossible given that I had a Dragon Goddess of Time on my side.

Sothis and I came to the same conclusion there and then.

"Okay then. So in summary, our goal is to use whatever we have to get stronger, uplift humanity, manage the Sefar incident or at least take advantage of it," Like nabbing Demeter and Aphrodite when they're weak for the points, "-then after that we continue on with our uplifting without making the same old mistakes, make history diverge badly enough to the point where the timeline is culled but strong enough that it can survive on… and enjoy life."

"Are you an idiot?! That barely counts as a plan! You should at least have gotten an idea on how to get strong enough to survive."

"Doesn't 'use whatever we have' cover that bit?"

"Nikaias…" Sothis glared at me and awaited my response.

I gulped and took a deep breath, quickly modifying one of my power-gaming templates to suit this world.

"Okay fine. Sefar absorbs Spiritrons, which is what makes up the supernatural energies and some part of the material composition of everything in this world. It's basically the data blocks of this cosmology. Our first step to learning about the magic and supernatural phenomenon of this world is to gain an understanding of Spiritrons. After that, we can start doing some rules lawyering with our powers, like say, rewinding the White Titan to the point it absorbed less energy. And in my case, I could use own concept over [Absolutes] to give myself 'Absolute Control' over Spiritrons then deprive the White Titan of its fuel. Of course, that is contingent on my mastering my concept and my dragon form. Things would also be easier if we keep to a daily schedule of fluid exchange, meaning that you can drink my blood to get stronger, heck, according to the math, we should be able to increase your power in 200 plus years with that method. Does that sound like a plan?"

Sothis clapped her hands excitedly.

"Yes! Much better! You did wonderfully Nikaias."

She praised me like an indulgent grandmother.

"Whew… glad that I could meet your standards."

"Hmm… It's a good start. Well, then." Sothis had a confident and eager look on her face, "It looks like it's up to me to guide you from now on, at least until you can properly make strategic decisions and replicate the magic I know."

Suddenly, my senses told me that there were a group of humans approaching us.

"Quick! Nikaias, it's time for our godly debut. Oooh, how should I do it this time? I don't want to be called Fellstar again so maybe I shouldn't descend from the sky. How about I just appear in front of them?"

Sothis was irresistibly cute as she bounced about thinking of ways on how to introduce herself.

"Hmm, dragons tend to have a bad reputation throughout history, their serpentine look gives dragons a 'deceitful' connotation… how about we go in as dragons and then transform to our human forms, you know, to keep things honest."

"That sounds wonderful! Oh, here they come, quickly, transform!"

I transformed into my largest dragon-form… and hit my head on the cave ceiling.

"Ouch."

I hear all sorts of screams coming from the direction of the humans.

Suddenly, I'm in a blank black space.

"You fool! How could you make such a mistake!"

Sothis was pummeling the scales of my feet with her tiny fists.

"Did you just stop time just to scold me?!"

"Of course not. I stopped time to correct your mistakes. You were about to embarrass me in front of the humans! That's why we will rehearse this in stopped time and then I shall turn back the hands of time so that you wouldn't have made such a mistake in the first place."

I had expected some weird unreasonable Tsundere statements but Sothis quickly realized that I had zero experience in my dragon form (for good reason) and came up with a way to resolve this without playing the blame game.

I think I'm in love.

AN: So yeah, immigrant dragons invade Nasu History by taking up the roles as gods, fulfilling Sothis's uplifting habits while also trying their best to keep the fuckups of the gods to a minimum so that they can maintain their own position.

The next chapter will go over some uplifting (ft. Fire Emblem magitech), training and then a visit to Atlantis to meet the Machine Gods (and get familiar with their territory for strategic reasons).
