Peter was waiting outside the building for Harry, and he asked him to come over. However, he wasn't certain whether Harry would show up, especially considering what had happened with Lily.
Then he saw him make his way down the street. "Hey, Harry, I wasn't certain you would show."
"Couldn't ignore a call from my best friend," Harry shrugged.
"You doing all right?" Peter asked.
"Honestly, no," he sighed. "The fact that my father manipulated me and wanted to kill me was pretty hard."
"I can only imagine," Peter sighed. "If it's any consolation, word has spread that your father knocked up your girlfriend. He is seriously starting to lose sympathy with the public."
"At least something good came out of it," Harry sighed.
"I hear you're going to change your name?"
Harry nodded. "I want to distance myself from the Osborn name as much as possible. To take my mother's surname instead."
"Have you talked to Liz?"
"She sends her sympathies, but nothing has really changed between us. In fact, the distance between us is just spread even further."
"I am truly sorry."
"Enough about me," said Harry, looking at the building beside them. "Why do you want me to come here?"
"I want to discuss that with you inside," Peter smiled.
"Won't we be trespassing?" Harry frowned.
"No, because I owned the place now."
"You want?!"
Peter led Harry inside the building. It clearly had once been an office building, but it was pretty worn down and vacated for who knows how long.
"Why did you buy this dump?" Harry frowned.
"I've been thinking long and hard about this, and I've come to a decision. I want to start my own company."
Harry stared at him. "You're going to make your own company?"
"I've been looking for a place to set up a shop ever since I won that lawsuit. This places a bit of a fixer-upper, but thanks to that, I got on the cheap. However, I don't do this alone. I want a business partner I can trust."
Harry's eyes widened. "You want me to be your partner?"
"If you want it. If we work together, I know that we can heal the world."
A small smile appeared on Harry's face. "Never thought you were this ambitious."
"Before we go any further, I would make it abundantly clear I don't want us to build weapons," said Peter. "I think the world has enough dangerous weapons at its disposal without us adding more to it. I want to develop technology that actually helps people."
"I can agree to that," Harry nodded.
"So, I take it that's a yes."
"Just one thing: what can he do about your off-duty activities?" Harry asked curiously.
"You don't have to worry about it. I only discussed it with both Ben and Gwen," said Peter. "Since there are three of us considering going out every day, we can arrange our patrol schedules accordingly. Of course, we'll all be on standby in case we're needed, but this way, we can go about our normal everyday lives."
"That's great, but you're not going to use this opportunity to sell Spider-Man merchandise?" Harry asked.
"I think it would be best if we keep this company and me being Spider-Man separate; we don't want villains to attack this place because we're associated with my alter ego, especially your father."
"I do have another question: what are we going to call this business?" Harry asked.
"I wanted to hear your thoughts on the matter before we decide."
"Well, let's just call it Parker Industries."
Peter frowned. "You would be okay with that?"
"It was your idea to start this business, and it's best that we keep my name as far away from it as possible. I don't want this business venture of ours to be tainted by the Osborn legacy."
"Well, Parker Industries it is, then."
Peter went to pick up May, and they made their way to the FEAST shelter, where his aunt was currently working as a volunteer. The place had been run by a man named Martin Li to produce food for homeless people and provide safe shelter to them.
"Peter, it's so wonderful that you came here to help," Aunt May beamed.
"I'm here to help grandma," May smiled.
Aunt May smiled. "And your help will be very appreciated, dear."
"So this must be your nephew that you've been talking so much about," said a voice.
Peter turned and was rather surprised to see J Jonah Jameson Sr approaching them.
"Mr Jamieson?" Peter blinked.
"You can just call me Jay," he smiled. He then looked down at little May. "And this must be your daughter, May. I have to say she's just as adorable as May let on."
May looked at him curiously. "Are you the loud shouty man's daddy?"
"May, that's no way to talk to someone," May scolded disapprovingly.
Jay merely laughed. "It's quite all right, May. My son does tend to run his mouth off, and I have to admit that."
"I can vouch for that," said Peter.
"And that's right, you used to work for my son, did you?" Jay nodded. "May also tells me that you're quite bright and starting your own company."
"We're still in the early stages," said Peter. "Firstly, we need to tidy the place up and then try to convince the city to give us grants."
"I'll be interested to see what you come up with," said Jay. He then looked around, expecting to see someone. "Tell me, is your wife with you?"
"No, she's in Los Angeles for a movie shoot," said Peter.
"Shame I wanted to meet her," said Jay, looking slightly disappointed. "Well, maybe next time."
"I miss mommy," May sniffed.
Peter bent down and stroked her head. "May, you don't need to worry. Mommy will be back soon." He then looked at the Jay. "May is a little insecure; she's afraid of losing either of us again."
Jay nodded. "Your aunt told me the horrible story. To think Norman Osborn would steal a newly born child from her parents. That said, I'm not entirely surprised; from what I've heard about the man himself, he's a snake."
Martin then approached them. "May I could do with some help in the kitchen."
"I'll be right there," said Aunt May. She then looked back at May. "We've got some children your age, so why don't you go and play with them while we grown-ups get hard to work?"
May looked up at Peter. "Can I, Daddy?"
"Go ahead," he smiled.
May then ran off to the other kids.
"Such a delightful child," Jay smiled.
"That she is," Peter nodded.
MJ was currently at work playing a leading part in the movie, which was rather easy considering she was playing the part of a grieving mother who had just lost her child.
"Why would someone take her?" MJ cried.
"I don't know Charlotte, but I promise we'll find her," said Bobby Car, who was playing the part of her husband.
"And cut!" said the director. "Magnificent, truly magnificent! That's it for today. People wrap everything up!"
"Hey, MJ, what you say we go out for a drink?" Bobby asked.
"Sorry, Bobby, but I need to call my husband," she said.
"Please, what your husband doesn't know won't hurt him, and I'm sure he won't panic if he misses a call," he smiled, leaning in towards her.
MJ narrowed her eyes. "I also want to call my daughter, who misses me terribly."
"Come on, MJ, let your hair down," said Bobby, starting to look a little impatient. "You've been calling home every single night."
"Is there a problem over here," said the director, walking over to them.
"Everything's fine, Bruce," MJ assured him. She then turned to Bobby. "Isn't that right, Bobby?"
"I guess," he said and walked off.
"Tried to take you out again, did he?" Bruce assumed.
"Yes, I guess you missed the part about how I'm married and have a daughter," MJ muttered.
"Not everyone is sympathetic with one's plight," said Bruce. "Again, I'm so glad that you took this role; I honestly can't think of anyone better suited to play the part."
"Maybe that's because I've already played the part," said MJ.
"I'm sorry this brings up bad memories. I truly am, Mrs Parker," said Bruce sincerely. "And I know it must be difficult separating from your daughter after you've been reunited for so long."
"I have to keep calling her to reassure her that everything is fine and I'm still alive," MJ sighed. "Peter says that she is constantly afraid that you'll be abandoned and left alone again."
"That's what she's been through. Who can blame her," Bruce nodded. "Well, if everything proceeds this wall, you'll be with her in no time."
MJ made it all the way back to the hotel and instantly Skype Peter and May.
"Hello, Mommy!" May waved.
"Hi, hotshot," MJ smiled. "You've been good?"
"He's been a little angel," said Peter, ruffling May's hair.
May instantly began talking about her day when she hung around with a bunch of kids at FEAST, played a few games with Auntie Gwen and spent the rest of the day in the park with Peter.
"Sounds like you had a fun day," MJ smiled.
"I wish you were here to enjoy it, Mommy," said May.
"I know, sweetheart, but I promise when we get back, we can have all the fun we can possibly have," MJ promised. She then turned towards Peter. "How about you, Tiger? How are things going with Parker Industries?"
"Still trying to establish a grant, but we got the building all set up," said Peter. "Once the money problem is sorted, we'll be in business. Harry and I are already planning out what to start off with. We think that we should start off with prosthetics, and we plan to have them operate like real-life limbs."
"Is that even possible?" MJ asked.
"We try to establish a similar thing to that of Doc Oct's arms, though without the whole mechanical tentacles fused to his spine thing."
"It certainly sounds ambitious."
"We just need to make it doable."
"Daddy and Uncle Harry are going to help a lot of people," said May cheerfully.
"I have no doubt of that," MJ smiled.
"How are things on your?" Peter asked.
"Everything's going great; if everything goes as smoothly as the past few days, I might be home sooner than expected."
"That's great to hear," said Peter.
"I can't wait until you come home, Mommy!" said May.
"And I can't wait to get home either," MJ smiled.
However, a massive incident occurred a few days later, and Norman Osborn claimed that Asgard was invading them. The incident started when Volstagg, a friend of Thor, came to Chicago looking for adventures like those of Thor.
He managed to stop a robbery but caused quite a bit of damage. He was then attacked by the U-Foes, which destroyed Soldier Field and hundreds of lives were killed.
Steve Rogers, who turned out to be very much alive, apparently the gun that shot and sent him out of sync with their universe. He quickly called in Fury and every hero he trusted, including Peter.
"Osborn is claiming that Asgard is planning to invade," said Steve. "However, we believe that he and Loki are instigating this war. I believe that Osborn is deciding to do this to consolidate his power, and the fact that Asgard suddenly appeared directly at one of his last remaining holdouts is no doubt spooked."
"I know that he tried to get permission from the president to attack, claiming it presents a security threat," said Fury. "However, the president does not wish to go to war with Asgard if it can be avoided."
"But that hasn't stopped Norman, has it," said Peter.
"No, he and his Avengers are currently doing battle against the Asgardians," Steve nodded.
"And what of Thor?" Clint asked.
"He's fighting, but as strong as he is, he can't overcome such reports, especially with Sentry and Ares fighting against."
"I'm surprised Ares is willing to attack Asgard," said Mrs Marvel. "I know he is the god of war, but he's always respected Odin and Thor."
"Don't forget Thor was banished from Asgard," said Fury. "And I highly doubt that Norman has been truthful to Ares."
"Especially Loki is in the mix," Clint added.
"What about Tony? Where's he?" Peter asked.
"Maria is with him, and he is still recovering," said Fury.
"We can't wait. We have to move out now and put an end to Norman and his Dark Avengers once and for all," said Steve.
Moments later, everyone made their way to the underground bunker, where Fury provided them with transport.
Peter was currently saying goodbye to his family.
"You stay safe, you hear me," said Aunt May.
"Don't worry, ma'am. I will make sure he gets back in one piece," Steve assured as he approached.
"You sure you don't want to talk to MJ?" Aunt May asked.
"I don't want her to worry," said Peter.
"Mommy will be angry with you if you don't say something," said May.
Peter bent down and smiled at her. "I would rather have been angry at me for not telling than worrying about me every single second. Now you be good to grandma while I'm gone."
May nodded and hugged him. "Promise you'll come back and beat up that nasty goblin."
Peter smiled. "I promise."
"And I'll make sure he gets back home safe and sound," Gwen assured them.
"Thank you, my dear," said Aunt May.
Everyone boarded the transport, apparently built with massive, powerful engines. Within a short space of a few seconds, they were now directly over Broxton and Asgard itself.
To say the battle was ferocious would have been an understatement; even before they got here, Sentry went crazy and killed Ares when he realised the deception. It was now practically a battle between heroes and villains.
Speed then took off to give Tony his armour, as he had now more or less recovered from Norman's beating. Things got worse for Norman when the President of the United States decided to attack HAMMER, bringing down the Helicarrier. Norman responded by having Sentry destroy the foundations of Asgard, bringing the entire city down.
Then, when Tony entered the fray, he was able to disrupt Norman's control over his Iron Patriot armour, shutting it down. Then, when his faceplate fell off, everyone could see that he had painted his face to match that of the Green Goblin.
"You don't know what you've done!" he said maniacally. "You have no idea what you've done!"
Peter then punched him in the face. "We owe you shut up!"
"I was the only one who could control him," said Norman. "And now we're all dead."
Void had been released and fused with Sentry. He then attacked the Avengers, but Loki saved them. Somehow, he convinced Odin to use the Norn Stones to give the heroes the strength they needed to win. Void realised there was an instantly killed Loki, but this enraged Thor, and after a gruelling battle, they were able to revert Void back to Sentry's human form.
Sentry begged the heroes to kill him, and with great reluctance, Thor granted his wish, blasting him with a powerful bolt of lightning that reduced him into nothing but a charred skeleton. Thor then took Sentry's body to the sun to destroy it, leaving everyone else to round up the Dark Avengers and their cohorts. They apprehended everyone apart from Daken, who managed to slip away unnoticed.
Osborn tried to escape as well, only to be flattened by Volstagg.
"Everyone must pay for their sins," said Volstagg, looking down at his unconscious body.
"Thanks for snagging him," said Peter.
"I do apologise, Spider-Man; I understand that he is your greatest enemy," said Volstagg.
"Yeah, I should've handed him over to the police the first time I faced him," said Peter regretfully. "But he lost his memory of being a Green Goblin, and I didn't want his son to bear the stigma."
"Nothing to be ashamed of; you tried to help, but instead of being grateful, he took out all his frustrations upon you," said Volstagg.
"And those around you," Gwen added. She then placed a hand on Pete's shoulder. "You couldn't have known what would have happened."
"Could have saved us a lot of trouble, though," Peter sighed.
"I have to say this is going to be one heck of a story," said a voice.
They looked up and were surprised to see Ben Urich climbing his way over the rubble.
"Ben?" Peter stared. "What are you doing here?"
"You know each other?" said Volstagg.
Apparently, Ben Urich and his cameraman stumbled upon Volstagg and got his side of the story.
Just a few days later, the Avengers and the Allies were celebrating not only their victory over Norman, but Steve was able to persuade the President to abolish the Superhuman Registration Act.
Thor and his fellow Asgardian warriors then arrived, wanting to establish an alliance with Earth. They did this by conjuring a portal to Asgard atop Stark's Tower, replacing Sentry watchtower, which had disappeared when he died.
"I still can't believe you didn't tell me that you are going off to war," said MJ furiously.
"I didn't want to worry you," said Peter.
"Peter, I'm your wife; I'm supposed to worry about you," said MJ, shaking her head.
"Aren't we supposed to be celebrating?" May asked, smiling as she drank a glass of orange juice.
Her parents looked at her, and they smiled.
"That is quite the daughter you have," said Thor as he approached Peter.
"Thanks, Thor, but if I had been a better father, she would never have been taken from us," said Peter solemnly.
"You cannot be blamed for the actions of another, and you find her in the end," said Thor. "Besides, today is a happy day. We won a great victory, and we should celebrate."
"Especially now that Osborn is out the way, we can now give the wedding between your aunt and Jarvis underway," said Tony.
It was true they wanted to delay the wedding until they dealt with Norman. All the Avengers and former Avengers wanted to attend, and they couldn't risk Norman launching an attack on them.
"I hear that your aunt will be staying with Jarvis in the tower," said Steve.
"That's right," Peter nodded.
"You can be certain that we'll look after her," Steve promised.
Logan laughed. "More like she'll be looking after us. Trust me: that old lady can hold her ground against anyone."
"Who are you calling old?" Aunt May asked. "Last I checked, Mr Logan, you are, in fact, old, and I."
"I didn't mean any offence," said Logan.
"Wolverine is quite correct; she has a warrior spirit," Thor laughed.
Norman was now imprisoned in the Raft, and Mephisto suddenly appeared before him.
"How the mighty have fallen," he said.
"What do you want demon?" Norman glared.
"Just wandering to see what will be able to commence with our deal now that you're behind bars," said Mephisto, tapping the reinforced glass on his cell. "You had all the power in the world, and you squandered it. I am beginning to rethink our deal."
"You can have my son; I no longer need him," Norman scoffed.
"How little you think of your one and only son," Mephisto smirked.
"What are you talking about?" Norman glared. "Within a few months, my one true heir will be born."
Mephisto laughed. "You think so, do you? Regardless, I will maintain our deal for as long as possible, but remember, I want Spider-Man and his family killed."
"You don't have to worry. I will kill him and his family, deal or no deal," Norman vowed.
"The question is whether you're capable of it, but I do find this whole thing amusing, so I'll continue to watch. However, don't forget that if you perish in your attempts, your soul belongs to me and believe you and me, you do not want that."
He then disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving Norman alone in his cell.
I've decided to have Peter start his company early as it's the best way for him to provide for his family. Plus, since he started and not Doctor Octopus in the original comics, that means that he won't be so fixated on regaining control of the company.
