It was late at night, and Peter and MJ were sparring on the balcony.
"That's good," said Pete as he blocked her jab. "But watch your footwork."
MJ nodded and then performed a roundhouse kick, which Peter was able to block.
"Okay, I say that's it for tonight," said Peter.
MJ made her way over to the table and grabbed a bottle of water and a towel. "Can I say this is exhausting?"
"Sorry if I'm going a little fast," Pete apologised. "Most of my sparring partners have superpowers."
"It's okay," she smiled. "I know why you want me to defend myself, and given what happened to our lives, I can't say I blame you."
MJ then noticed that Pete was leaning on the balcony with a solemn look on his face and knew something was wrong.
"What's wrong, Tiger?" MJ asked, joining him.
"Just thinking about the past few days," he said.
MJ then realised what was bothering him; Gwen told her what had occurred with Karven and his family in great detail.
"You were emotionally distraught," she said.
"I nearly crossed a line, MJ, if Julie had stopped me…"
MJ then placed her hands over his and looked at him in the eyes. "Peter, I'm sorry for what happened with Kaine; I can only imagine what I would feel if something happened to my sister."
"I'm just thankful that he didn't see that ugly side of me," he said.
MJ then placed a hand against her face, forcing him to look at her, and then kissed him on the lips. "You don't have to go through this alone. You have me, Gwen, Ben and your aunt. You can lean on us for support."
Peter smiled and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her into a hug. "Thanks, MJ."
It was now September, and it was the girl's first day at school. Daddy had provided them with a packed lunch, and they were standing in front of their new elementary school.
"Okay, you girls be good at school, okay," said Mommy.
"We will, Mommy," May promised.
"And if anyone picks on you, ignore them and tell the teacher," Daddy instructed.
"We will, Papa," April nodded.
"We'll pick you up after school!" Mommy waved as they made their way inside.
The two girls entered the school, and May saw that April looked rather nervous.
"You okay, April?" May asked.
"It's just I've never been to school before," she said.
"Well, neither have I," said May. "We were homeschooled in the orphanage."
"We better get to class; we don't want a bad rep on the first day."
They eventually made their way to the classroom, where their teacher, Miss Jenkins, introduced them to the rest of the class.
"Students, I am happy to introduce to you our two new students, April and May Parker," she said.
A black-haired boy immediately raised his hand. "Excuse me, but aren't you two involved in that kidnapping with Norman Osborn?"
Miss Jenkins immediately scolded the boy. "Wes, I'm sure that both April and May do not wish to discuss such a traumatic event." She then looked at the two girls apologetically. "I do apologise for Wes; sometimes, he asks questions without thinking?"
"It's okay, Miss Jenkins," said May.
"Yeah, we're just glad our parents never wanted to abandon us," April nodded.
After class, quite a number of students immediately began swarming over May and April.
"Isn't your mom a famous supermodel and actress?" asked a girl called Davida Kirby.
"Y-Yes, she is," said May, feeling a little overwhelmed.
"Didn't your dad take photos of Spider-Man?" Wes asked excitedly. "Then did he work for Mister Fantastic, and now he is starting his own company?"
"Yeah," April stunned.
"What is all the fuss about?" said a snooty voice.
Everyone's eyes then turned towards a girl with long blond hair tied in a ponytail and wearing an absurd amount of makeup for a five-year-old.
"April, May, allow me to introduce to you Simone Desantos," said Davida, narrowing her eyes.
"Charmed, I'm sure," she said without any degree of sincerity. "Tell me again, why is everyone clamouring to these misfits?"
"Misfits?!" April glared.
"You heard me," she smirked. "My father says that your father is nothing more than a joke, that he'll run his company into the ground very soon, and that your mother is mediocre at best."
"I'll show you who is mediocre," said April, clenching her fist.
May quickly placed herself in front of her. "Do you always believe what your daddy tells you?"
"Of course I do; my father is always right?"
"Ah, then I bet she told you that you looked pretty even with that shameless makeup."
The other students snickered, and Simone looked outraged. Fortunately, before anything else transpired, a teacher showed up and could obviously sense the tension.
"What's going on here?" he asked.
"Nothing, sir," said May innocently. "We're just getting to know each other."
"I see," he said, looking at everyone and then he walked off.
Simone glared at May. "You'll pay for this insult, Parker.
She then turned around, flicked her hair, and walked off.
Davida looked at May, impressed. "I've never seen anyone talk back to Simone like that before."
May shrugged. "It was no problem."
April looked at her sister and gave a small smile. "Thanks for the save."
May smiled back. "That's what sisters are for."
After taking the girls to school, Peter and MJ were at the Coffee Bean having a nice, friendly chat with Harry and Carlie.
"So you've got another little girl?" said Carlie.
"Believe me, it was just a shock to us," said Peter.
"Fortunately, both April and May are getting along," said MJ.
"But how could you not know you had another daughter?" Carlie asked.
Realising that people would ask them this question, Peter and MJ spent the last few days trying to devise a plausible explanation.
"We think that I was drugged, and I don't remember giving birth to April," MJ explained.
"I arrived shortly after she gave birth to May, so I was unaware of April," said Peter.
"And, of course, my dad kidnapped both girls and separated them," said Harry.
Carlie shook her head. "Harry, your father is a real piece of work."
"I know," Harry muttered.
"Still haven't heard anything from Lily?" Peter asked.
Harry shook his head. "No, she disappeared after my father was imprisoned."
"Good riddance," said Carlie as she took a sip of coffee.
"Carlie, how can you say that she used to be your best friend?" said MJ.
Carlie slammed her cup on the table. "She used to be my friend, but now she's a murdering terrorist."
Peter wanted to argue, but then he sensed a very familiar tingling sensation. He quickly looked towards the window and saw something heading straight towards them.
"Get down!" he yelled, quickly tackling MJ to the ground.
Suddenly, bursting out of the window was Lily, in a hospital gown, riding on a glider.
"Lily?!" Harry gasped.
"Oh, my God," MJ gasped. "Wh-where did she come from?"
"Don't know, but I get the feeling I need to change," Peter whispered.
"Go," MJ nodded.
Peter quickly dashed off to change; during that time really kept on flying around, causing everyone to panic.
"MJ, where is Peter?" Claire asked, noting Peter's absence.
"Uh, I don't know," MJ lied.
"Lily, stop!" Harry pleaded. "Let me help you—"
Unfortunately, she didn't seem to hear him, and in fact, he looked as if she was in great pain. Her flying around caused the ceiling to fall right down on top of him, but Peter swooped in and pulled him to safety just in time.
"I was a little too close," said Peter.
"Thanks," said Harry gratefully.
"Everyone stand back. I'll handle this," said Peter, then turned to face Lily. However, she had stopped flying around and was now clutching her stomach in pain. "She sounds like she's in pain. Is she—"
"—having contractions, maybe?" said MJ.
Peter groaned. "Please tell me she's not giving birth right now."
He then suddenly felt his spidey sense go off. In a split second, he was struck by an electrical shock.
"Oh, yeah, Web-head," said Shocker as he entered the coffee shop with Tombstone. "She's just about ready to pop."
"So stand aside, 'cause that's a big payday for us!" said Tombstone, cracking his knuckles.
"And I hope you've got the receipt," said Peter, quickly firing some webbing at them and sticking them to the wall.
MJ, Harry and Carlie then quickly rushed over to Lily.
"Lily, stay calm!" said Carlie. "We're right here!" She then noticed that Pete was absent. "Wait, where's Peter?"
"I think he was injured, but Spider-Man got into safety," said MJ quickly as she helped Lily up. "As much a line concerned for my husband, we've got a new mom who needs our attention at the moment."
MJ quickly knelt down to Lily to help, remembering what she went through with May. However, when she was giving birth, there hasn't been any supervillains across the room. Speaking of which, the two villains managed to free themselves, and if that wasn't bad enough, Doctor Octopus arrived.
"I'll handle this," said Octavius as he pushed through towards Lily. "Trust me, I'm a doctor."
"Doc Ock?!" Peter stared and then jumped towards him. "Get away from them! I'm warning you!"
Unfortunately, before he had a chance to do anything, Tombstone knocked him back. Octavius then pinned Harry, MJ and Carlie to the wall and did the same with Peter. To his credit, he helped Lily give birth, but he was rather harsh with the delivery.
"Congratulations, Lily Hollister…" said Octavius as he pulled the baby towards him, "it's a boy."
Peter knew he had to stop Octavius, but he was pinned to the wall and couldn't escape his tentacle. However, instead, Peter used all the lead he could muster and broke through the wall behind him. As he had predicted, Octavius went over to gloat.
"How's it feel Spider-Man," he said as he looked through the hole in the wall, "to lose a battle before it even started, you sanctimonious cretin?"
However, Peter suddenly appeared behind him and grabbed Lily's baby from his mechanical arms.
"Yonk," he said.
Peter decided the best thing to do was to get out of the coffee shop and lead these villains away from everyone here.
However, he then received a number of problems. A massive misunderstanding happened, and everyone believed that he had stolen the baby boy. Jonah was quick to act, condemning him, and not only was he content with the villains and the police, who were all carrying a newborn baby that was crying in his arms.
As this was going on, MJ helped Harry with Lily, but Carlie didn't seem eager to help.
"Where's my baby?" Lily cried.
"Spider-Man has, and he'll keep us safe," MJ assured her.
"No, he won't be able to protect him!" Lily cried.
"Mary Jane, we have to get out of here; the police will be here soon," said Harry.
"I think I know a place where we can keep ourselves safe," she said.
"Why are you so worried about her?" Carlie asked as he began searching through the rubble. "What about your husband?"
"Carlie, Peter can look after himself, but Lily is the one who needs our help right now," said MJ.
Carlie just stared at her in shock. "You're more worried about this mass murder than your own husband?"
MJ narrowed her eyes. "This mass murderer, as you call it, used to be your friend, and she just had her baby taken from her."
"And what do you care?" Carlie yelled.
"Because I know how it feels to lose a child!" MJ spat.
Those words certainly brushed the wind out of Carlie's sails. Clearly, she had forgotten that MJ herself had been a victim of kidnapping right after her child had been born.
"Sorry, I forgot," she said.
"Lucky you," said MJ, turning her back on her. "And I know my husband; he will want me to look after Lily despite everything she's done."
"Well, if it's all the same to you, I'm going to search for him," said Carlie.
"Fine, but I know he's fine and helping Lily in his own way."
May and April had just finished school and had been expecting to see their parents, but they were surprised to see Auntie Gwen meeting them instead.
"Where's Mommy and Daddy?" May asked.
"I'm afraid something came up, and your mother asked me to look after you for the time being," Auntie Gwen explained.
"You mean something like Papa has to work overtime?" April asked.
"I'm afraid so, and your mother's helping," Gwen explained.
"Aren't you going to help?" May asked.
"I worked with you since your grandmother is still on her honeymoon; someone has to look after you," Gwen explained. "But don't worry, your Uncle Ben's helping your father, and I'm sure we'll be able to get this sorted out in no time."
"Okay," said the girls.
Gwen grabbed their hands and took them to the car. "Now, why don't you girls tell me about your first day at school?"
MJ was in her panic room. Gwen called her, saying she was looking after the girls, and Ben was backing up Peter. Despite everything Lily had done, MJ felt bad for the girl; she knew perfectly well what it was like to lose a child.
The moment Lily woke up, she instantly demanded a phone. MJ wasn't certain she would be able to give the signal inside the panic room, but she gave her phone to calm her down.
Suddenly, there was a massive commotion outside as Tombstone broke into the panic room.
"Where's the kid!" he demanded.
"She doesn't know," said MJ, placing herself between him and her.
Tombstone laughed. "You're trying to protect her sweet cheeks. That's cute, but don't think I'm not afraid to mess about your beautiful face."
Tombstone swung his fist, but then, to his astonishment, MJ dodged it and dealt an uppercut under his chin. She then quickly performed a spinning backkick, which pushed him back. She managed to make herself aware that Peter's self-defence lessons were paying off.
"My, aren't you full of surprises," Tombstone smiled. "I must admit I like a woman with spirit."
"Sorry, pal, but I'm taken," said MJ, showing him her wedding ring.
"Pity," said Tombstone.
"I should be able to summon it," said Lily.
"Summon what?" Tombstone frowned. This
"Get away from her!" Carlie yelled, pointing her gun at him. "Get away from my friends!"
"She's a friend," said Tombstone, gesturing to Lily, "that's a new one."
"No matter what she's done, I still don't want to see her hurt," said Carlie.
"Then I'll hurt you!" he said, jumping at her.
Carlie immediately fired a pistol, but the bullets just bounced off his skin. However, what happened next surprised everyone. Flying straight through the doorway was Lily's glider, which slammed into Tombstone, knocking him to the ground.
"How the hell did that thing get in here?" Carlie stared.
"I don't know, but I think my producer is going to need to refurbish his entire apartment," MJ sighed.
"So, where's Harry?"
"Out shopping."
"And have you heard from Peter? I looked for him at the coffee shop, but he was nowhere to be seen."
"Spider-Man got him to safety, and he began helping evacuate the café. I think now he's trying to help find Lily's baby."
"Oh, I see," said Carlie.
"Well, they seem to be paying off," said Carlie.
"I have a good teacher," MJ smiled.
Peter wished more than anything to return home, but unfortunately, that was impossible as practically every supervillain was after him. No doubt they wanted their hands on Lily's boy to use as leverage against Norman.
Unfortunately, Peter ends up giving the boy over to the Chameleon, who was disguised as Harry and told him that he was dead. Peter then begins taking out his frustrations on any criminal he can find, staring the hell out of them.
Then, when he located the Chameleon, he accidentally blabbed, saying that he had pretended to be Harry and that the baby was very much alive. He then quickly told him that the Lizard had taken them away from him, and now both he and Ben were tracking the Lizard.
Curt Connors had now permanently been stuck in his Lizard form for quite a while ever since he nearly ate his son, Billy, thanks to no small part of Anna Kravinoff. Fortunately, Gwen prevented this tragedy from happening, but the shock caused the lizard persona to take full control.
They eventually managed to locate the Lizard, though they had to scuffle with Otto, who also managed to track them down and, more importantly, the baby. Surprisingly, he was more than willing to hand him over.
"You're just giving us the baby?" Ben stared.
"Young meat not smell right," said Lizard. "I try to test. Forget. How."
"'Not smell right'?" Peter frowned, and his eyes widened. "Hang on. You're not trying to tell me…?"
Peter then immediately rushed towards the lab that Lizard had set up, which, while crude, was still functional.
"This is a blood sample?" Peter asked, holding out the sample. "From the baby?"
"Yesss," said Lizard.
"And these are reagents. Provided none of this is too contaminated," said Pete as he began running a quick test, "I can do a quick and dry metabolic panel," He then placed the sample beneath the magnifying glass, "and it should show how much of the baby's blood is in the process of Menace serum and how much is goblin… tainted."
"Did you find something?" Ben asked.
"Osborn's blood has a unique chemical fingerprint, and it isn't here," said Peter.
Ben's eyes widened. "Are you saying that this kid is not Norman Osborn's son?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying," Peter nodded and smiled at the baby in his arms. "Well, kiddo, I got some good news for you. Whoever your daddy is, it isn't Norman Osborn."
"That means no one can use this little chap as a bargaining chip," said Ben.
Peter felt his spidey sense tingling and had a good idea who was causing it. "And that also means no one can use this baby to create a new species, Doc Ock!"
Octavius then crashed into the room, looking furious.
"No!" he roared.
Soon, a massive fight erupted between both Octavius and the Lizard. Normally, Peter would take both of them down, but he couldn't risk any harm to the baby, so he and Ben made their getaway while they were distracted.
MJ was still in her producer panic room when the cops arrived to take Tombstone away.
"I'm surprised you were able to take on Tombstone," said Carlie, somewhat impressed.
"Given how hectic our lives had been, beautifully would be smart about some self-defence classes," MJ explained.
"Smart guy," Carlie smiled. "My god, what a day. Lily giving birth, a baby snatched, and Peter is still missing…"
"Hold that thought," said MJ as she received a text from her phone. "It's Peter! He just texted me that the baby is safe and sound."
"My baby?" said Lily, emerging from a hiding spot. She had to hide to avoid the cops. "Thank God. Are the police gone?"
"Coast is clear, Lily," said MJ.
"Then I am sorry that I turn my back on you, especially what you've been through today," Carlie apologised.
"No, I would turn my back on me," she said. "There's a reason they call me Menace. Even if everything turns out fine today, Osborn's men will still come after me, my baby, my friends—"
She then jumped onto her glider.
"Lily, no!" Carlie yelled.
"I have to go," she said with tears in her eyes. "I can't be in my baby's life. Tell him I love him. Tell them both."
Harry had just entered the apartment when Lily suddenly took off.
"Lily?" he stared and began chasing after her. "Lily, come back! Lily!"
Either she couldn't hear him, or she was completely ignoring him and flew out the smashed window.
"Where'd she go?" Harry asked, heartbroken. "I can't just leave her—"
MJ placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know. I know. But there's nothing you can do for her, Harry. Besides, somebody else needs you right now."
Both Peter and Ben were currently in Avengers Tower, and Peter was running tests on Lily's baby.
"Pete! You and here?" Harry called.
"Through here, Harry!" Peter yelled.
Harry soon went into the lab and saw Lily's baby and Peter's arms. "You did it. You save my brother."
"You don't know the half of it," said Ben. "Oh, by the way, those temporary access codes have been deleted now that you've used them."
"And that doesn't matter right now," said Peter, giving Lily's baby over to Harry. "Where's Lily?"
"She left," Harry sighed. "But is the baby still being hunted? I know I can count on you guys, but you can't be around all the time."
"You don't have to worry about that—the baby is off the hook," Peter assured him, then grabbed his hand. Now, give me your finger."
"My what?" Harry stared just as Peter began to prick his finger with a needle. "Ow! What did you do that for?"
"To verify suspicion I have," said Peter. "That's the main reason why ask you to come here. We needed a state-of-the-art DNA lab. Apparently, your father is not this little guy's father, and I don't even know who the real father is, but I have a very strong suspicion…" He then ran DNA tests, "confirming my suspicion. Harry, it turns out you are the father of that little chap."
Harry stared at him, shocked. "I… wait. What?"
"Do we need to spell it out for you," said Ben, sounding somewhat amused. "You're the father, not Norman Osborn."
"This is a miracle," said Harry shocked. "I've always wanted to be this way, but I never did believe."
"I already called the Avengers, and they contacted the authorities, so you don't have to worry about the cops or the feds," said Peter. "However, I would still be on guard; there may be a few villains who haven't got the memo yet."
"And the Avengers have managed to clear your name as well," Ben added.
"Yeah, and now I'm heading home for a nice long sleep."
Norman had received an unexpected visit from his son.
"Harry, I'm surprised to see you here," said Norman, narrowing his eyes. "I hear that you've given up the Osborn name."
"To distance myself from you as much as possible," said Harry bitterly.
"Like I care; after all, I've got a son on the way, and he will take on the Osborn name," said Norman smugly.
"Actually, that's what I want to talk to you about," said Harry. "Lily's given birth."
"Ah, excellent; I'm sure that my men will raise him properly. I gave them explicit instructions."
"I'm afraid those instructions will be followed," said Harry as a small smile appeared on his face, "because Peter did a DNA test and discovered that you are not the father."
Norman's eyes widened. "What?"
"It turns out the boy is my son," said Harry.
"No! It can't be possible," said Norman, horrified.
"I'm afraid it's very possible."
"You're lying! You have to be lying!"
"I'm afraid not."
Norman then watched as Harry got up, walked away, and was soon escorted back into his cell.
"This can't be happening; I refuse to believe it!" Norman roared.
Mephisto suddenly appeared in a burst of flames. "Oh, I'm afraid it's very much true, my dear Norman."
Norman glared at him. "You knew! You knew all this time that bitch wasn't carrying my son!"
"Language, Norman, you're talking about the mother of your grandson," Mephisto smirked. "And to answer your question, I did it, but this income shouldn't be a surprise. You're over 50, and did you honestly believe that you were potent enough to impregnate someone?"
"It's all over," said Norman as he fell onto his knees. "I've truly lost everything."
"You still have your soul, and our deal is still in place," Mephisto reminded him. "Including the deal that your soul belongs to me if at all perish."
"What do you expect me to do in prison?" Norman roared.
"I gave you the opportunity to wipe out Spider-Man, and you squandered it. I am done helping you any more, so this may very well be the last time we ever see one another."
Norman then left towards him, but he disappeared in a puff of smoke. He then fell to his knees and began crying.
