The first time I met Henry was back in the 70s. The man was quite the ambitious fellow, having just recently married and had put a lot of effort in getting his creations to work to create an income worthy of the world he wished to grant to his family.
He was a hairy man, the golden mane matching his hazel eyes, the glasses of a thin structure, and his beard well-kept and yet disorderly somehow. He was the opposite of William, my brother was 'prim and proper' gentleman as he wanted his face known to many. With his short dark hair combed in a shiny glow, while his silver eyes, a trait known in our family, were keen to ghostly look upon all those around.
I stood in the middle. I had William's eyes, but I had slowly taken Henry's style in handling the facial hair. I was unruly, so uncaring of the whole hair treatment process. It wasn't a problem anymore, the joke having me hollowly chuckle as today was the last day I found Henry.
He was sitting by his workshop's desk, a most fitting place for a man that had his future taken by the products made through that planning desk. His elderly and frail body was slumped over the desk, a pool of blood staining the desk and the ground beneath his chair. He looked... happy. There was no smile on his face, but he looked different than the shifty and nervous old man I grew to know in these few days.
I had been so upset by how tired he had looked. He told me the full story, something that was compounded by Mikey's own tales of what he found underneath William's house - a complete factory... or a failed sister location. The supernatural aspect of this situation was jarring.
I was proof of that myself, but the way I was told of how Mikey was a zombie without organs, his body once used as a flesh suit by a mess of animatronics and wires before being cast aside and... given life once more - this was absurd.
Yet, it happened. And it added to the madness of William. The way he killed those children, first out of murderous desire, then due to his ambition to revive Cassidy... I couldn't pity him. He was too far gone for me to forgive him. And as Henry was now gone, I was left with a key that opened his safe.
The treasure inside were documents that pretty much gave me access to properties and other funds that Henry had kept as an active founder and leading element of Fazbear Entertainment. It was a lot of money, the very thing the old man had never needed to feel happy, but was the only thing he got because of his good soul.
He had one last message left for me: "Do us all a favor, Michael. Be the guard dog of this darkness, and destroy those that seek to bring him back."
It felt slightly incensing how he called me a dog, but I had grown accustomed to the terminology due to my current 'body'.
After finishing getting him ready to be found once I was done cleaning up the place of clues I had been there and of the resources I needed, I walked up to the van parked by the garage. It was now mine - it had been a 'temporary' thing in Henry's mind, but he lied to me just so I wouldn't suspect his decision to go away on his own terms.
In his decision, I also found a rather chilling understanding of what I had to do.
And the drive to the Pizzeria didn't feel any different than usual. The kids that would visit had fun, the parents were weary of the Animatronics, but I was around to keep those troubled ones in check and, as the nighttime came, it was the chance for me to make my move.
I spared a brief glance to 'Scrapped Baby', the name Mikey used was fitting for the Animatronic that housed his sister's soul. Born from scraps trying to mirror the original entity that had killed her - poor Elizabeth had been a victim at first, but it was clear she too had succumbed to William's madness.
Everyone was there for the Last Party, with Charlotte being the last one as the Puppet had been captured by Lefty as Henry had promised, with the Animatronic resembling a normal Freddy soon readied in its appropriate room.
Once everyone had vacated the premises of the pizzeria, I took one last stroll around, and I could feel eyes on me. It was from Lefty. I barely noticed how it had snuck out of its room, and I walked up to it. It didn't move, it didn't jump me, but I knew that she was listening.
I leaned down and I felt the need to be honest there.
"I am sorry. He is gone," I told poor Charlie, and I saw Lefty twitch. "But he has one last gift. He told me that you will understand and... I am sorry. I am sorry I couldn't stop him."
I saw the Animatronic move a bit more but... its head stopped as it looked at me.
"Be brave one last time; he is not going to live beyond today."
Charlotte... nodded. And I bowed my head before wandering back to Mikey. The half-dead man looked at me as he finished checking the security feed's system. It was all optimal.
"Are you going to leave now?"
I nodded. "Yes. This will be the last time we met."
Familial love compelled me to try and get him to leave with me. But Michael had it worse than any of us. He was alive and yet not, he was a monster in his own body, possessing a dead rotting corpse as if a foreign entity to it rather than its proper owner.
He wanted to die.
"So long, Uncle Mike."
I bowed my head, and I turned to leave. Part of me wanted to give him one last visit. I wanted to be there to see the fire consume him, to kill him completely. But it wouldn't do. The anger in me was... dangerous. It could spoil the plan, it would harm it to the point of giving the bastard a way out.
It was my greatest displeasure, but it was one last prize to pay for this to work. No more sentimentalism, no more mistakes. He had to go.
After that last meeting with Mikey, I had the silent alarm activated. The police would not be warned of the upcoming fire through the regular system. It would go as smoothly as it needed to, and the doors started to close. There was no way out as the pizzeria turned into a closed box, one that nothing from the inside could come out alive. I took for the van, rolled with it by the street but parked it nearby. I didn't do much beyond waiting and watching.
For several hours, it was tame. I checked the watch, thinking about when the time would have been right. Then, I saw it - smoke. It was limited at first, but soon it was spreading while filtering out some of the thin air ventilation within the facility. Then I heard it, an explosion, then two, then numerous.
The gas pipes had been set near the origin for the flames. The detonation shook the pizzeria and the entire district. Then the blaze expanded until the walls started to burn, and the structure came crashing down. It was a marvellous disaster. Once the roof came down, an inferno erupted upward and the police was finally called by alarmed citizens.
The ensuing chaos was unlike anything I had witnessed. The fire fighters were called, but they could only wait for the flames to be more subdued on their own before starting to clear out the fire. The police was at work for two days. I didn't move, watching from the van as they tried to find survivors, but the heat had been enough to turn Mikey to ashes. It would spare some shock in regard to how body's last condition before being burned down.
The entire place was put through a perimeter, yellow strings keeping anyone from getting too close to the little crater that once was the pizzeria. After the second day, I was on the move.
It was night again, but I felt an odd sense of calm take me as I bypassed the yellow plastic, shifting down to the debris while scouring for something in particular. I saw a few surviving pieces of animatronics, but my eyes were aimed at one in particular.
It was him - 'Springtrap'. The flesh had mostly melted, a thin layer latching desperately upon the exoskeleton bits that once kept it around. I pulled it up, expecting a surprise but... he was gone. I could feel he was gone. It was odd to think that, but I wasn't too convinced.
Henry had a plan for this eventuality, and it took me little effort to carry the torso and head to the van.
The incinerator just outside town, the one that had been discontinued a decade ago, was something easy for people to access, and Henry had used it to develop the 'Last Party'. It had been rendered active upon a specific command and, after tinkering with the terminal, I was able to get the intense fire hit the scrapped thing.
This time, the heat was too intense for anything to survive. William was truly gone now.
I thought that would be it. William was gone, the Fazbear brand would not recover from this, and Henry was gone too.
I just had to leave for the place Henry had set up for me. I took to the street with the van once more, but the ride was longer. It took four hours to reach my destination. It was distant enough for me to not be disturbed by any people. It was bigger than anything I would need in a home, but it was all paid and furbished. No food, but there were tools and resources for tinkering with my 'suit'.
And as I parked and started to marvel over what felt a much deserved retirement until something came up, I was surprised by a few odd files waiting for me in the kitchen. The light I shone over those only made me more wary as I recognized a few of those brands and yet not of the others.
There were bits of the Afton Robotics documentation with... other groups. William had- he had done deals with those people?
I felt like a knot had formed behind my chest. Henry wouldn't drop this on my lap without reason, and as I looked into the first document, one that detailed William's agreement with one Playtime Co. They discussed about a special robotic assemblement meant to... revolutionize humanity.
There were some sketches that would have only confused normal people, but I felt my experience as a mechanic came up as I recognized a few worrisome elements about it.
I grasped the papers a bit more tightly, and I growled.
"Goddammit William."
My work was far from done from the looks of it...
AN
Next time... Poppy Playtime! And Mike goes on to crash the party as he is in a tight spot to not get mauled by nothing too 'lightly-clawed'. He could die, but he isn't going in unprepared. And he may tinker about with the technology available at PlayCo. Also... he may found a few more wards from this first 'quest'.
