Main Characters - Sweetie

Description - The origin story of how Sweetie went from a simple stray, to the royal pup of Barkingburg.

In the Kingdom of Barkingburg

A West Highland White Terrier was roaming on the streets of the kingdom, hungry and scared for her own safety, as the strays here constantly battled for food. And the organization that was responsible to care for them in Barkingburg were extremely aggressive in trying to capture the strays, and they didn't treat the strays very well either when they did capture them.

Sweetie, despite her very young age, was amazing at dodging their attempts. Her only worry was getting enough food to survive, which she did struggle with sometimes. But she knew life as a stray was much better then what it would be like under their 'care'.

As she roamed the side of the streets, she saw plenty of people walking their dogs in a nearby park. Sweetie watched them from a distance, feeling envious for the canines who had humans that loved them. Something Sweetie never experienced.

Damnit! Why do they have such great friendships with those damn humans, whilst I get nothing but hateful glares and rejection from them all!? Sweetie asked herself as she turned and trotted away, still filled with anger and envy.

The Terrier traveled down the streets for a couple minutes, staring down at the ground as she walked, cursing under her breath. She then heard someone yelling something behind her, the Terrier turned around and saw two people in very recognizable uniforms; the blue and black uniforms of Barkingburg Animal Control.

"Halt!" The first person said as they began chasing her. Sweetie quickly turned and began running down the road, as fast as her little legs could take her.

Despite how fast she ran, she could hear their footsteps closing in behind her. She estimated they were only a couple meters away from catching her, but she couldn't bring herself to check. Sweetie was beginning to lose hope as they got closer, and she closed her eyes as she ran, expecting them to catch her at any moment. However, she was suddenly stopped when she hit someone. The Terrier heard the footsteps behind her stop, and she assumed that it was over when someone lifted her up.

However, she instead heard a soft voice comforting her. Sweetie slowly opened her eyes and saw someone dressed in a bright blue dress holding her, speaking to someone standing next to her. The human that was holding her then turned back to the terrier.

"Shh, don't worry, everything's alright." The human comforted her as she brushed her hand through the Terrier's coat, which was very effective in calming Sweetie down.

Sweetie then heard the people who were chasing her approach her as they spoke with the human holding her. The human was clearly getting more annoyed as they spoke, and eventually made a gesture with her hand, which resulted in a Doberman sitting next to her to jump forward and tell the people to back off. Sweetie then looked up at the person holding her, and asked her something.

"Who are you?" Sweetie asked, curious who it was that saved her. The human glanced down and smiled at her before replying.

"I'm Lucy, the princess of this gorgeous kingdom. Don't worry, you're safe now." Lucy replied, still comforting the Terrier.

Sweetie shoved her head against the princess and quietly cried as Lucy comforted her. Lucy then turned and began walking back toward the castle, with the Earl of Barkingburg and the Doberman following behind.

Sweetie was finally happy that someone was showing her love for once, and she hoped that this would be a new chapter in her life.
