(A/N: Here we go, the next chapter is here. It seems that some of you knew what I was talking about with how I ended things last chapter. For those of you that don't know, you'll get the full story this chapter, and I'll go over it some more in the Author's Note at the end, along with a few other things. Enjoy.)

Chapter 5: Never Mind All That

It was a race to get to Gravity Falls before Bill, and the competition had quite a lot of ground to make up. And, quite frankly, it was a miracle that the interdimensional being hadn't already made it there already considering how much of a head start he had on the others.

Their group consisted of Anne, Sasha, Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter, Eda, and King. It had been debated of whether or not Vee should come along, but after it was determined that her magic eating would most likely be ineffective against Bill's reality warping power, they had all agreed that it would be better for her to stay behind. This way, if Bill did manage to gain a body, and if they were unable to stop him, then they would contact Vee to call in the cavalry that she would round up in advance.

Currently, the group was flying as fast as they could to Gravity Falls, and this time without the use of a plane. Luz and her friends were flying on their palismen. Eda, having transformed into her harpy form, much to Anne and Sasha's astonishment, was flying on her own while carrying King. This allowed both Anne and Sasha to share Owlbert, trusting the owl palisman to do the flying since they had no idea how; it was a little different from flying on kill-a-moths.

"So, just to recap," said Luz as she ran over everything Eda had told them in regards to her ex-husband, "you met this Stan Pines guy in Las Vegas while you were in the human world, married him, robbed him, then stole his car, all within forty-eight hours, and you haven't seen him since."

Eda wobbled her head. "Eh, more or less. I liked him, he liked me, we had a few too many drinks; you know how it goes. It was a classic Vegas cliché shotgun wedding you humans talk about. Fortunately, I realized my mistake when I sobered up the next morning."

King glanced up at her with a raised eyebrow. "So you robbed him?"

A smug smirk crossed the Owl Lady's face. "Well, after the wedding night I gave him, I'd say it was well worth it for him."

A look of disgust crossed Luz's face. "Eww, Eda! Gross!"

"Mama's got needs, Luz."

"Yeah, but we don't need to hear about that. Come on."

Eda just rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. No matter how discreet you try to be, do you really think I don't know what you and your 'sweet potato' do behind closed doors?"

"Eda!" Luz exclaimed as both she and Amity turned beet red.

The Owl Lady just snickered. "In any case, I remember him saying that he lived in Gravity Falls. He was only in Vegas for the week to try and win some quick cash. I have no idea if he was involved with Bill or not, but it's the only lead we have." She let out a groan. "It's going to be so awkward seeing him again after all this time."

Hunter gave her an uncertain look. "But, Eda, that was so long ago. What if he moved or something?"

Eda considered this a bit. "I guess he could have, but I do remember him saying something about him not being able to leave until he found a missing family member or something. Don't know if he ever found them or not, but like I said, it's the only lead we have. If he did move, maybe we can find out where he went and track him down."

"And worst-case scenario, we're where we need to be in order to intercept Bill," Amity pointed out, having recovered from her embarrassment.

"A lot of good that will do us if we can't stop him," Gus commented.

"Then we'll ask around," Luz replied. "It'd be more convenient if we could talk to Mr. Pines, but I'm sure there were others present to witness Bill's defeat who could tell us something."

Willow bit her lip nervously. "But what if Bill finds his statue before we get there? H-He could be there right now. He might even have his body already."

Leaning forward, King glanced up at the sky and down at the ground. "I don't think so. Reality hasn't broken yet as far as I can tell. I'm pretty sure Bill would have warped the world beyond recognition by now if he were unleashed."

"But he was unleashed before and reality remained intact," Willow pointed out. "Sorry, I don't mean to bring everyone down, I'm just trying to be realistic while reality still makes sense."

Eda sighed. "No, we get it. From what King told us, Bill comes from a realm where things operate like a dream that he can control. If he gets into this world, he'll bring the power he has with him. He could definitely shatter reality with such abilities. So long as this world remains intact, we can assume that he hasn't found his statue yet. Our best chance is to beat him to it so we can stop him while his powers are limited."

They flew for about thirty more seconds before Gus finally called out, "Whoa, hold on, everybody, stop!"

Each of them halted in midair, and they all turned to him questioningly.

"Gus, what's the hold up?" Amity asked impatiently. "We gotta get there fast."

"I know," he replied. "So why are we flying there?"

The others exchanged some confused looks before turning back to him, and Hunter raised an eyebrow. "Um, because it's the fastest way to travel?"

Gus returned the raised eyebrow with one of his own. "Is it? Is it really?"

Luz wasn't sure what he meant at first, but then it suddenly clicked and she slapped her forehead. "Oh, of course! We can just do what we did to get to the Titan's skull when we were trying to stop the Collector. We'll just teleport."

Anne shook her head in disbelief. "What? You can just teleport? Why didn't you tell us?"

Sasha poked her head out from behind Anne. "Yeah, you could have saved us that whole plane ride by teleporting yourself to us and then teleported us all to Connecticut."

Luz shyly rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment. "I… kind of forget we could do that. We only ever did it once. Well, I did it twice, but still."

"Alright, come on, you lot," Eda declared. "Find a place to land; we're teleporting."

She flew downward. The others directed their staves after her while Anne and Sasha exchanged uncertain looks before glancing down at the staff they were on.

"Ok, Owlbert, down," Anne said slowly and carefully.

In response, the staff suddenly dropped right out of the sky. Both Anne and Sasha cried out as they fell towards the ground, having been so high up in the sky that they had been flying through the clouds.

"Pull up! Pull up! Pull up!" Anne shouted as Sasha clung to her tightly as she continued to wail.

But Owlbert did not pull up. And as everyone else made a comfortable landing, with Eda resuming her normal form, the two screaming girls continued to drop towards the rapidly approaching ground. But just before they would have crashed, their freefall came to a sudden end as Owlbert began to hover just above the ground.

Both Anne and Sasha sat frozen on the length of Owlbert's staff. The others looked on as, slowly, they toppled over and fell in a heap to the ground.

"Owlbert, you were too rough with them," Luz told the palisman. Owlbert returned to his animal form and flew over to land on Eda's shoulder, cocking his head to the side as he gave Luz an innocent look that she instantly fell for. "Aww, I can't be mad at you."

Eda looked down at the two girls on the ground. "If you're done with all your screaming, get up, we're going to teleport."

On shaking legs, both Anne and Sasha got to their feet. "Great. Cast your spell and let's be on our way," the latter told her.

Luz gave her a bashful smile. "Actually, it's a little more complicated than that. I only know how to cast the spell using glyph magic."

"No one's managed to figure out how to long-range teleport without them," Gus added to Anne and Sasha.

Anne just shrugged. "Ok, so just use glyphs."

Luz rubbed the back of her head again. "That's the thing. The teleportation glyph process is really complicated, and I can't exactly remember it."

"Then we do have to fly," Sasha grumbled.

A smile spread across Luz's face and she winked. "Actually, we have a way around that."

Sasha's eye twitched in irritation and she angrily threw her hands in the air. "Then why make an issue out of it!?"

Luz just let out a light chuckle. "Yeah, sorry about that." She held out her hand. "Gus, if you please."

Looking a little smug, the boy in question pulled out the strange pair of tweezers he had used before to show them the picture of a giraffe. "As you wish, Miss Noceda."

He dropped them into Luz's hand, and she immediately brought it up to her ear. Sasha's frustration quickly gave way to disgust at the sight and she whispered to Anne, "Aren't those the same ones he used earlier? Isn't she going to disinfect them or something first?"

"Just let her do her thing," Anne whispered back.

Sasha cringed in further disgust. "I'm sorry; you know I have a thing about ears."

"Just be cool." Anne then pointed at Luz. "Hey, how do those work anyway?"

"They basically extract physical moments of a person's memory," Gus explained.

Willow smiled. "Even if you can't remember the memory in full detail, the picture will still come out accurately, as if you had taken an actual picture of the moment. This allows us to truly preserve memories."

"Convenient," Anne complimented. But then she tapped her chin in thought. "But didn't Gus say that if the pictures get damaged that the memories themselves get damaged? Isn't that kind of dangerous?"

Gus just waved this off. "Which is why after the picture memories are extracted, harmless copies are made and the original ones are then properly disposed of so they don't damage the memories."

"But if your memories do get damaged, you can always have someone enter your mind and fix them," Willow added. She then playfully cut her eyes at Luz, Amity, and Eda. "Right, guys?"

Amity awkwardly looked away while Eda crossed her arms. "I have no idea what you're talking about," the latter replied.

"Guys, I'm trying to concentrate," Luz complained. With her tongue between her teeth and her gaze upward in thought, she extracted a picture from her ear. "Got it!"

She held it out, and when the blackness cleared, Anne's eyes widened at the intricate series of different interconnected glyphs. "Whoa, you weren't kidding, that is complicated. I don't think anyone can memorize all that."

Eda placed her hand and hook on her hips. "Right, let's get to drawing." She motioned to Anne and Sasha. "You two just stand there since you're not familiar with how glyphs work. We don't want to risk doing something wrong and end up blowing ourselves up or something." She then snatched the picture out of Luz's hand and held it out to them. "Here, hang onto this so we can check it when we need to."

Sasha just held up her hands and took a step back, unwilling to touch something that had come out of someone's ear. Anne just rolled her eyes and accepted the picture, and the others set about drawing the designs on the ground. They had to go back and check the picture several times, but things began to come together.

As they drew on the ground though, Anne looked from the picture to the glyphs they were drawing and noticed something that made her frown. "Guys, hold on, you're not using the right glyphs."

Glancing at her, Luz frowned and went to check. Anne pointed to what she was referring to and then to what the others were drawing and an understanding smile crossed Luz's face.

"Oh, no, these are the right glyphs," she assured her. "The glyphs in the picture are King's dad's glyphs, but they don't work anymore, so we're using King's glyphs. They may look a little different, but they're still the same primary ones of light, ice, plant, and fire. We're just swapping out the Titan's versions of them with King's."

Anne looked at the picture again and compared it to what the others were drawing. Yes, now that Luz mentioned it, the glyphs being drawn were slightly different variations of the ones in the picture, but they were all in the same place as their counterparts.

"Huh, you're right," she commented. A smile crossed her face. "Man, Marcy would love to see this."

"Let me see," said Sasha, coming up beside Anne and taking one end of the picture and slightly turning it to her to see better, apparently forgetting where the picture had come from. "Yeah, you know, she really would." But then she suddenly jumped back and began waving around her hand that had touched the picture in disgust. "Ah, ear-picture!"

Anne just rolled her eyes and looked back at the others. "So, how does this whole teleportation thing work? Do you need to give it directions, or… what?"

"I don't know the specifics," Luz replied. "I've only ever seen the spell twice. Once I was along for the ride, and once when I cast it myself. As far as I can tell, you just have to focus on where you want to go, and the spell takes you there. When I used the spell, I just focused on us being transported inside the skull of the Titan."

Sasha frowned. "I take it that means it'll simply take us to somewhere in Gravity Falls rather than to Bill's statue specifically."

Luz looked up from her drawing and offered her an apologetic smile. "Afraid so. Maybe there's a way to make the destination more specific, but if there is, I don't know it. But even if I did, we don't know where in Gravity Falls it's located, so we couldn't go there directly anyway."

"Eh, this is good enough," Eda replied as she finished the last of the drawing. "It'll at least take us to where we want to go and save us several hours of flying. We'll figure things out from there." She motioned everyone over. "Ok, let's do this."

Anne handed the picture back to Luz, who made it disappear, as everyone gathered in the middle of the drawing of interconnected glyphs. Luz glanced at the others to make sure everyone was in range before smiling. "Ok, everyone ready? Here we go!"

She stomped down on part of the drawing, and the whole thing lit up. Then the ground itself began glowing all around them before a beam of light burst from the ground and into the air, consuming them.

Both Anne and Sasha cried out, not used to such magical displays, as they felt their feet leave the ground. The light became so intense that they were blinded by it and were forced to shut their eyes. It only lasted for a few seconds though before they felt their feet hit the ground. The light was so bright that they could see it behind their closed eyelids, but then it suddenly died out. And when they opened their eyes, they saw that they were no longer in the same location, but were standing on the outskirts of a small town.

"Whoa, it worked!" Anne exclaimed, openly impressed.

"But are we sure this is actually Gravity Falls?" Sasha asked somewhat skeptically.

The others looked at Sasha, then glanced at the large bulletin board behind her that read Welcome To Gravity Falls.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure," Eda replied. She then placed her hand and hook on her hips as she turned to the town. "Now we just need to find someone to… Oh…"

It was in that moment that she noticed that there was someone else present. Standing a short distance away was a town resident, a big-nosed old man in raggedy clothes and a beard that touched the ground. He stared at them with wide eyes that somehow faced different directions like a chameleon, his mouth hanging open in shock.

The others soon took notice of him as well, and an uneasy look crossed Luz's face. "Oh, I guess we didn't think this through."

The old man just continued to stare at them in astonishment, and Anne slowly approached him, hoping to smooth this over. "Heeeey, mister. I, uh, I don't know what you just saw, but–"

The old man suddenly threw his hands in the air and began waving them about as he began shouting. "Hot dang! They're here! Aliens have come for us!"

Luz quickly rushed over. "No, no, we're not aliens! We're just… uh…"

The old man pointed at her. "Lies! I saw y'all appear outta thin air! You can't fool McGucket! You want to take what's left of my mind, but I ain't havin' it! I'm off to lock myself in my panic room!"

He then spat on the ground before giving his knees and face a few slaps, then he took off running while laughing hysterically.

Sasha raised an eyebrow. "Well, that was weird."

Anne nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and he was giving me major Wally vibes. Also, did his beard have a Band-Aid on it?"

Luz sighed. "We need to be careful of who sees us." She glanced at her friends. "Our palismen can stay in their staff forms, but you guys need disguises."

Smiling proudly, Gus stepped forward with his hands in the air. "Sounds to me what we need is a master illusionist. Allow me."

He drew a magic circle, and the pointy ears of all witches present were suddenly replaced by short, round, human ears. As for King, his head changed to become that of a dog. He blinked as he noticed the illusion cast upon him and pointed a finger at Gus.

"Hey, no one covers up this beautiful face!" he snapped.

Kneeling down beside him, Luz put a hand on his shoulder. "King, it's just so you don't draw attention to yourself. As adorable as you are, if people see the real you, it will raise a lot of questions we can't answer."

The little Titan crossed his arms unhappily. "Fine," he grumbled before leaping up onto Eda's shoulder. "But I'm not walking around on all fours."

The Owl Lady rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Let's go ask if anyone knows about Stan."

With that, they began making their way into town. It was a small, quaint place with a few people walking the streets surrounded by places of work.

Hunter glanced at Eda. "So, where does this Stan Pines live?"

She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Huh, you know I'm not exactly sure."

A frustrated growl escaped Sasha. "Are you telling us that you don't know where he lives?"

"Not his exact address, no. I just knew he lived in Gravity Falls."

Anne looked round the town. "That's ok. This seems like one of those small towns where everyone knows everyone. Let's just ask around a bit. Look, there's someone we can talk to."

She pointed to a man happily walking down the street. As strange as it sounded, he seemed a little too ordinary compared to the rest of the town. The group approached him all the same, and Eda addressed him.

"Hey, you, human guy," she said, seemingly not caring how her choice of words sounded.

The man stopped and turned to her, his smile a little too friendly. "Yes, hi. What can Tad Strange do for you?"

The way he spoke was a bit too cheerful, giving the Owl Lady pause. "Uh, right. We're looking for someone named Stan Pines. You know him?"

The man, Tad, didn't change his expression in the least as he pleasantly replied, "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't help you with that."

Eda narrowed her eyes at him. "Why are you talking so strangely?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Ask him about Bill," King whispered into Eda's illusioned ear.

The Owl Lady rolled her eyes. "Fine. Tell me, Mr… Strange, do you know anything about a Bill Cipher?"

Still, the man's expression didn't change. "Oh, never mind all that."

He then stepped around Eda and pleasantly continued on his way. Eda narrowed her eyes in irritation. "Well, that didn't work."

"How about them?" Sasha asked.

She pointed to a couple who had their hands full with six children of different ages. The mother, who was clearly pregnant again, had pink highlights in her hair and was texting on her phone as she carried an infant in her other arm while the father, who looked utterly exhausted, followed after her as he held the hands of two other kids of different ages while another sat on his shoulders, the last two running around him while caught up in a sibling squabble.

Anne cringed at Sasha's suggestion. "I don't know, they seem like they have their hands full right now. Let's not bother them."

"No, let's," Eda replied, and immediately made her way over to them, stepping in front of the mother's path. "Excuse me, but I–"

"Sorry, can't talk right now," the woman said without looking up from her phone, and walked right past the Owl Lady.

Eda blinked at how quickly she was dismissed, but as the father made to follow his wife, Eda held out her hand to stop him. "You, busy dad, question for you. I'm looking for Stan Pines."

"Stan Pines?" the man replied, and the toddler on his shoulders used the opportunity to reach down and stick their hand into his open mouth as he spoke and tugged on his cheek. "S'rry, 'ady, don' 'ow whe'e he is."

An irritated grumble escaped Eda. "Ok, then have you heard of someone called Bill Cipher?"

The man spat the toddler's hand out of his mouth. "Bill Cipher? Never mind all that."

"Robbie, come on!" his wife called back at him. "We gotta drop off the kids at your parents' house before we're late for my Lamaze class!"

"Coming, Tam. Look, lady, I gotta go. Kids, come on."

He circled around Eda as well to hurry after his wife. One of his kids hung back a moment before pointing up at King. "Your dog is weird looking. Haha, young Robbie Jr.!"

The boy then ran after his family, and King shook his fist after him. "I'm not weird, you're weird!"

Eda glanced at him. "You are a dog right now; you're not supposed to be talking."

Back over with the others, Luz waved the Owl Lady over. "Eda, come on, we're going to go check in that diner!"

She pointed to a quaint little place with the name of the diner over it. Eda grumbled in annoyance as she rejoined the group. "Greasy's Diner," she read in a bored tone. "Yeah, that sounds real appetizing."

Regardless of Eda's criticism, they made their way inside. The place was relatively full, but not too busy, and upon their entrance, a heavyset elderly woman with one eye closed made her way over to them.

"Welcome all of you," she greeted cheerfully. "Table for… eight?" She then reached up and lifted her closed eyelid. "I haven't seen any of you around here before. You tourists?"

Willow wobbled her head. "Eh, sort of."

"We're actually trying to find someone," Gus told the woman. "Do you know a Mr. Stan Pines?"

The woman's good eye widened. "Stan Pines? Why, I haven't heard from him in ages. You're looking for him?"

Hunter raised an eyebrow. "Um, yeah, hence the question."

The woman now looked annoyed, but not at Hunter. "Yeah, well, if you find him, tell him that Lazy Susan wants to know why he never calls."

She then turned and made to leave, but Anne placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her. "Wait. If you don't know where Stan is, then is there anything you can tell us about someone named Bill Cipher?"

The woman, Lazy Susan, blinked, but then waved off the question. "Oh, no, no, no. Never mind all that."

As she walked away, a frustrated growl escaped Eda. "Ok, that's it! Why does everyone keep saying that?"

"Yeah, it's weird," Anne agreed.

"It's annoying is what it is!" Sasha exclaimed, having grown impatient as well. "I'm getting to the bottom of this right now."

She went over to a table and pulled out a chair, then climbed up onto it in the middle of the diner. "Ok, everyone, listen up! Can anyone tell us anything about Bill Cipher?"

Right away, everyone in the diner simultaneously raised their cups or utensils or anything else they might have been holding as if they were making a toast, and altogether they cried, "Never mind all that!"

A vein throbbed in Sasha's head and she looked about ready to explode. She managed to hold onto her temper though as she took a deep calming breath and hopped down before storming back over to the others and shrugging.

"That was kind of freaky," Luz commented.

Amity nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's like they're supposed to say that if anyone mentions Bill."

Eda crossed her arms. "If we can't get anything out of these kooks about Bill, then I guess Stan really is our only hope. Hopefully, he'll be willing to talk to me. If not," she smirked, "then I'll just have to force it out of him."

The clearing of a throat drew their attention, and they turned their attention to a waitress with long blonde hair. She was wearing a little more makeup than necessary, even though it was clear that she didn't need it, and she was dressed a little too fancy for a waitress beneath her apron. While she didn't seem unkind, there was a slight air of arrogance about her.

"Hey, newcomers," she said in a somewhat hushed voice so as not to be heard, "why are you asking about Bill Cipher?"

The group exchanged uncertain yet hopeful looks before Luz replied, "It's kind of a long story. Let's just say that a friend of ours needs help, and it could involve him. So we're looking for anyone who knows about him or Stan Pines."

The blonde woman stared at her hard for a few moments, as if trying to come to a decision about something before sighing and glancing around before saying quietly, "If you want to know about Stan Pines or Bill Cipher, then head to a place called the Mystery Shack."

From behind the blonde woman, an older man with a rather peculiar appearance poked his head out of his booth. "Miss Northwest, we're not supposed to talk about that. You'll get in trouble."

Looking annoyed, the blonde woman rounded on him. "Zip it, Toby! My family may not be billionaires anymore, but we're still the richest people in town… after McGucket."

At that moment, the woman who called herself Lazy Susan called out to the blonde woman. "Miss Northwest, coffee refill at Table Three!"

"I'm on it!" the blonde woman called back, then turned back to the others. "Anyway, when you get there, ask to speak to Dipper Pines; he should be there today. Tell him Pacifica sent you so he knows that you're not with the government or anything. We occasionally still get some agents who come poking their head around here every so often."

Anne gave her a grateful look. "Thank you so much, we really appreciate it."

Eda raised an eyebrow as she studied the waitress. "Wait, did you say your family's rich?"

Luz sighed. "Eda, no scamming."

"What?" the Owl Lady asked with false innocence. "I'm just wondering why a pretty thing like her is working in a place like this if she comes from money."

The blonde woman, Pacifica, just shrugged. "Hey, a girl's gotta make a living. I don't want to rely on my parents' money to get by, especially after they went and lost most of it when…" she looked left, then right, as if to make sure no one was watching or listening, before she lowered her voice, "when all the Bill stuff happened."

She then began speaking at a normal volume again. "Turns out, they're apparently not that good with handling money, they just had so much of it that it didn't matter. That may have been fine when they were multi-billionaires and could afford to lose a few million here and a few million there, but as regular millionaires… Let's just say that I want to have my own bank account to fall back on in case I can't rely on an inheritance if they lose the rest of it."

Anne gave her a baffled look as she tried to keep up with all that. "Ok, while that's really commendable, what was that you were saying about that Bill stuff?"

Pacifica sighed. "Just ask Dipper. He knows more about it than me." She then eyed each of the girls present for a few moments before her eyes narrowed and she gave them a look of warning. "And don't get any funny ideas about him; he's of limits. Got it?"

"Miss Northwest, refill!"

"I said I'm coming!"

As she hurried off to take care of the customer, Luz cocked her head to the side. "Huh. For some reason, she kind of reminds me of you, Amity."

Her girlfriend glanced at her curiously. "In what way?"

"Never mind all that," Eda interrupted, but then seemed to realize what she said. "Uch, that was an unfortunate, coincidental choice of words."

"She said to ask for Dipper Pines," Gus noted. He glanced at Eda. "Pines… You think he's a relative of Stan's?"

The Owl Lady shrugged. "Probably. Maybe a son or grandson or something."

King made a strange face. "What kind of name is Dipper? Sounds more like a name for a pet."

Hunter cut his eyes at him. "Says the one named King."

The little Titan let out an angry squeal and jumped off Eda's shoulder and onto Hunter's head, and the two of them began squabbling. Eda just rolled her eyes and ignored them. "In any case, I guess we should ask around and find out where this Mysterious Shop is."

"Mystery Shack," Anne corrected.

"Whatever."

"I don't think we need to do that," Willow replied with a smile. She then held up a brochure she had picked up, upon which was an ad for the Mystery Shack. "Free pamphlet?"

(A/N: Alright, a few things happened in this chapter. So, let's go over it a bit. As I referenced last chapter, yes, Stan is Eda's ex-husband, this was confirmed, and there's even a little audio video that was released to go with it that you can find in the link to below. This brought the whole gang to Gravity Falls to find him in the hopes that he can tell them how to stop Bill. No Dipper and Mabel yet, but we got to see a few other characters. And it seems that Pacifica was able to point them in the right direction. Alex Hirsch did state that in the future she would end up working at Greasy's Diner, so I went with that. Thinking about it, she really wouldn't need to though if even after her parents went broke she would still be able to have "only one pony", meaning they must still have a good deal of money after selling their mansion, so she must be working there by choice. I think her wanting to be responsible and have her own money in case she can't rely on an inheritance makes for a good explanation and shows a further growth of character that was seen from her in the show. And in case anyone was wondering about why Dipper and Mabel would be in Gravity Falls, well, Anne's birthday is in May, and this story takes place about a week after it, so it is currently summer, but I'll be going into more depth on things later. But all the pieces are starting to come together. Next chapter, our heroes make their way to the Mystery Shack to find Dipper. It's gonna be a rather interesting meeting, so stay tuned. Oh, and don't forget to check out the video link down below, just replace the DOT with an actual period.)
