Ive been to pretty dark places,

Stuck in toxic situations

But you taste like stability and

That's new for me

The next morning, Josephine was washing her breast pump parts at the sink when a voice startled her.

"How long have I been out?" She jumped, turning to see Juice leaning against the doorway. She quickly turned off the water before rushing over to him.

"You shouldn't be up!" Juice gave her a quick smile.

"I'm feeling fine."

"Will you at least go sit on the couch?" Josephine asked, rubbing her forehead lightly.

"Fine. If it makes you less worried, then yes." Juice turned to limp to the couch, and she stood watching him before turning to get him a cup of coffee. After adding cream and sugar, she walked back into the living room. She smiled as she realized Juice had listened to her. He was sitting on the couch in his boxers with his injured leg up. His shirt was off, and it took everything in her not to spill the coffee as she stared. She passed him his coffee and sat on the other end of the couch.

"Thanks," Juice said before taking a sip. He looked around before returning to her, smirking as he caught her staring. "Where's the twins?"

"Tara took them for the night. She said I had a lot on my plate." Juice nodded but couldn't hide the shocked look on his face. Josephine let out a loud sigh as she leaned back against the arm of the couch.

"I know, shocking. But I figured I could trust her." She shrugged as she began to play with her hands. Juice watched her as she started to chew on her lower lip before she looked up, meeting his eyes.

"Why did you ask the guys to bring you here?" Her question had caught him off guard and he shifted nervously in his seat.

"Who told you that?"

"Chibs did. I asked him why they brought you here instead of right to Tara."

"I trust you, Jo. I knew I'd be ok here," He responded, feeling his cheeks warm. He didn't want her to know how quickly he made the decision to come here. He also didn't want her knowing how Jax resisted the idea. At least, that was until Chibs convinced Jax that he could call Tara to meet them. While he understood Jax's reservations about involving Josephine in the club business, he knew she wouldn't pry. She worked in a nursing field where all patient care was based on a need-to-know basis.

"How's the leg?" She asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.

"Sore, but ok." Motioning to himself, he smirked, "Sorry about my lack of clothes." Josephine let out a light chuckle and blushed.

"It's ok, I don't mind. It's a nice view." Juice almost spit his sip of coffee out when the words tumbled out of Josephine's mouth. Wiping his mouth, he watched as her eyes followed his hand. Shaking his head lightly, he reached to put his cup on the table.

"So, when is Tara dropping off the twins?"

"She texted me about an hour ago saying she'd drop them off at CeCe's house before my shift. Told me to take care of you and try to enjoy my 'day off' from motherhood." She threw up air quotes on 'day off', and Juice couldn't help but smile. Leaning back, he took her in as she reached for her TV remote. He watched her run a hand through her hair, flicking mindlessly through the TV channels. It wasn't straight like it had been when he first met her. It was wavy, flowing down her back.

"So, about our date?" Her eyes pulled away from the TV to meet his smirk.

"You still wanna go out with me after last night?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?"

"Juice, I dug a bullet out of your leg. While you felt everything, may I add?" The look of shock on her face didn't shake him as he shrugged lightly.

"Only makes me like you more." Josephine laughed loudly, tossing her head back before standing up to head back to the kitchen.

"Didn't you know?" Juice asked, "Only way to a man's heart is by pulling a bullet fragment out of his thigh." He shifted on the couch, "But seriously, you still wanna go out with me?" She paused and touched his shoulder before leaning down and pressing her lips to his in a quick kiss. Pulling back, she smiled at him, "That's your answer." As she straightened up to continue to the kitchen, Juice reached up, grabbed her hips, and pulled her down onto his lap. He hid his grimace as she hit his wound, instead burying his hands into her hair. He crashed his lips into hers, eliciting a soft moan from her. She immediately shifted to straddle him, one of his hands drifting from her hair to her hip to pull her closer. Josephine suddenly pulled back as the kiss deepened, resting her forehead against his.

"As much as I'd love to continue this, you need to heal up." She quickly kissed his lips before climbing off him and heading back into the kitchen.

"Isn't patient satisfaction all nurses worry about?" Juice said, shaking his head as he reached down to adjust himself.

"Yeah, but not killing our patient is number one priority!" She called from the kitchen. He sighed in defeat, sinking back into the couch. Just as Josephine went to turn on the faucet, a knock on the door made her hang her head in defeat. At this rate, she would never finish washing her pump parts or dishes. Heading to the door, she glanced at the window near it to see Chibs standing on her porch with a duffle bag in his hand. She opened the door and stepped back to let him in.

"Hey Jo, is Juicy-boy up?"

"Yeah, he's on the couch," Josephine said, shutting the door. Chibs walked into the living room and tossed him the duffle bag.

"Brought you some clothes. Thought the lass here would be happier if you weren't practically naked on her couch."

"I don't know, man. I think she likes the view," Juice said, catching Josephine's attention and winking at her.

"Don't scar the poor lass!" Chibs exclaimed before turning to the woman standing in the doorway, "How's the patient today?"

"Stubborn, but okay," Josephine laughed, "I got fresh coffee in the kitchen if you want some."

"Wish I could lass, but club stuff," Chibs said before turning back to Juice, "Rest up, Juicy-boy, the club is gonna need you tomorrow."

"Chibs, I hate to butt in, but he's nowhere healed for crazy club shit." Her tone quickly had Chibs swiveling to face her. Joesphine's arms were crossed against her chest, her face stone cold. Chib's stared her down for a moment before cracking a smile.

"I like her! You better keep her around, Juicy!" Chibs said with a laugh. Patting Josephine on the shoulder, he headed to the door, and she followed him.

"Thank you again, lass," Chibs quickly kissed her cheek before nodding at Juice and heading out the door. Josephine smiled to herself. Never in a million years did she think moving to Charming would lead her to find someplace she belonged. Turning away from the door, she glanced at Juice, who was beaming at her.

"Well, seeing as you don't have to be at work until later, get your ass over here," Juice said, patting the couch next to him. 'What the hell?' Josephine thought to herself as she climbed onto the couch next to Juice. He quickly reached an arm around her and pulled her into his side. Snuggling into him, she watched as he flicked through the TV channels, eventually settling on some stupid comedy movie. Juice was rubbing her lower back lightly, and after a few minutes, she felt her eyes grow heavy. Juice's smile grew when he felt her snuggle in closer, resting her head on his chest. A few more minutes passed by, and her breathing had evened out. Shifting slightly not to wake her, he laid his head back on the armrest and closed his eyes. Before he knew it, he was out cold.

No, no, no, no

The panic had set in for Josephine. All she could keep doing was screaming no. Someone yelled her name, but it sounded so far away that she couldn't place it.

Suddenly, she jumped straight up and opened her eyes. Juice was sitting in front of her, trying to shake her, and she felt the air come back into her lungs.

"Hey, it was just a dream," he whispered, his hands running up and down her arms. Hearing his voice made her facade fall, the tears quickly following.

"Babe, look at me. What's wrong?" The concern in Juice's voice was evident as he pulled her into him. As she turned to bury her face into his chest, she felt one of his hands wrapping around her waist while the other was trying to push her hair out of her face. As the minutes ticked on and the tears subsided, she couldn't bring herself to face him.

"Shit, I know I snore, but no reason to cry over it." Finally looking up at him, she saw him wearing his famous smile. She couldn't help but smile and whisper, "Smartass."

"That I am, but I got you to laugh." His smile slipped off his face, replaced by concern, "You ok?"

"Yeah, just a bad dream." Juice nodded, choosing not to push any further. Clearly, something big had gone on from the locks on her door and the lack of family around.

"Well, that was awkward," she whispered. He reached under her chin to make her look up at him.

"Everyone has bad dreams. It's all good." Josephine nodded, her lower lip trembling. She found herself leaning towards him as she watched him glance down at her lips. Her lips pressed into his, his hand moving from her chin to the side of her neck. He ran his tongue across her bottom lip, causing her to part her lips slightly, allowing him in. A light moan came from her, causing Juice to pull back, much to her disapproval.

"Sorry, nurse's orders. I gotta heal up first," he said with a wink. Immediately, Josephine slapped him on the arm.

"Yeah, that's funny, alright," she grumbled, turning her attention back to the TV as she snuggled back into his side.

A couple of hours later, Josephine was in her bedroom getting ready for work. After throwing on her scrubs, she sat down on the bed to slip on her Dansko shoes.

"Call out of work!" Juice's voice carried down the hall. Rolling her eyes, she stood up and emerged from her room.

"As much as I would love to, I need to be able to pay my bills." She found Juice leaning against the kitchen door frame, pouting but fully clothed.

"You really should be lying down." His response was to pull her into him.

"If you stay, I will," he said, pressing his lips to her neck. Tipping her head back to give him better access, she wrapped her arms around his waist.

"You drive a hard bargain, but I gotta go. My ride will be here any minute." He groaned against her neck before pulling back and straightening up.

"I guess you're right," he sighed.

"Make yourself at him. Fridge is stocked, and you know where the coffee is."

"Nah, it's ok. I'm gonna head home." Josephine narrowed her eyes at him.

"I'm fine, Jo. Seriously."

"Fine. Just take it easy, and if you need me, call me." Juice shot her a smirk, quirking an eyebrow.

"That's my line." A car honking outside made her eyes dart towards the door. But her attention was quickly brought back to Juice as he leaned to kiss her forehead. Josephine smiled as she pulled away to grab her bags. When she turned back, she saw Juice had grabbed his duffle bag. He followed her out the door and stood beside her as she went through the various locks. They walked down the porch steps towards Josephine's friend's car.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" Juice asked. Josephine turned to him and wrapped her free arm around his waist.

"Of course," she smiled as Juice put his arm around her shoulders. He smirked and leaned down, catching her lips in a sweet kiss.

"Have a good shift," he whispered, kissing her forehead before letting her go. Josephine turned and got into Anna's car. Juice waved as the car pulled away from the curb before turning to walk back to his place.

Meanwhile, Josephine had sunk into the passenger seat smiling.

"So that's him, huh?" Anna's question broke her from her thoughts.

"Yeah." The blush crept into her cheeks as she turned to look at her friend.

"So…how's the sex?" Anna asked without taking her eyes off the road.

"Anna!" Josephine reached over to smack her on the arm, causing Anna to laugh.

"What?! He's leaving your place and ya'll are acting all cozy. You guys definitely fucked." Josephine shook her head, though her friend couldn't see it.

"Actually, we didn't."

"Liar!" Anna said with a laugh.

"I'm not lying! As much as I wanted to jump him, it didn't happen." Josephine realized the disappointment had started to hit her. She knew that letting his leg heal was the right thing to do. 'But man can he kiss.'

"Yet..." Anna finally took her eyes off the road and glanced at her friend. "Didn't happen yet. And when it does, I want all the details!"

"Fine," Josephine sighed with a smirk.

"So, if you two didn't fuck, then what was he doing there?" Josephine started playing with her hands and chewed on her lower lip.

"Promise you'll keep it between us?" Anna shot her an incredulous look but nodded viciously.

"He got shot," Jo ignored Anna's jaw drop and continued, "He had the guys bring him to me to patch him up." Anna started shaking her head, and she sighed.

"Girl, that boy has it bad for you!" Now, it was Josephine's turn to shake her head. There was no way Anna was right about that.

"Yes, yes, he does. The freakin' VP's old lady is a doctor."

"Yeah I know, I met her." Anna paused, processing what Josephine had casually mentioned.

"I'm gonna need that story, but see! They have a doctor for personal calls, and instead, his first thought was, 'lemme go see the ER nurse and have her take care of me.' That boy has it bad!" Josephine sunk back into her seat, thinking about what her friend had said. Clearly, there were feelings on her end, no matter how hard she denied them. 'I just met him. I can't fall that fast,' she scolded herself. Even though they had spent the rest of the day talking and learning more about each other, she tried to keep her guard up, and clearly, she was failing at that. Before she knew it, they had pulled into the parking lot at the hospital. Sighing, she tucked her troubles into the back of her head. Not knowing what the night would bring in the ER, she would need to be on her A game. And thinking about a certain Son was not going to help.
