Prologue
A Light made of Water
All was a quiet in the town of Gravesfield, Connecticut in a particular house slept a young girl.
A thin, tan-skinned teenage Dominican-American girl with golden-brown eyes and dark brown hair kept in slightly messy pixie cut. She was sleeping until an alarm blared.
"Ugh. I'm up I'm up." The Girl said as she tried and failed to turn it off.
It was on the fifth attempt she managed to turn it off.
The girl got up and turns on the light. Revealing that she is wearing a sports bra and a pair of shorts. She stands in front of the mirror. She sees a small collection of old scars. It was several knife wounds and gunshots.
"Just a reminder that I'm alive." The girl said.
"Luz Mija! It's time for school!" A woman said.
The now named Luz heard her mother spoke as she went to get ready.

Luz began to put on some clothes. She was wearing a set of small, circular-shaped ebony-black earrings. She wore short-sleeved half-lavender-blue and half-white hooded shirt with cat ears attached to the hood, high-waisted grayish-turquoise jean shorts over a set of dark navy-gray capri leggings, and a pair of white loafer sneakers.
She then sees the last piece of her outfit. A pendent of two headed star bird. The left side was blue and the right was red.
This pendant is a symbol. The symbol of the Conduits.
What was a Conduit? That was simple It was a human born with powers and Luz Noceda was one of them.
After getting dressed she went downstairs and saw her mother Camila Noceda.
Camila Noceda, is a Dominican-American woman with tan skin and a medium body frame and brown eyes, as well as brown eyebrows. She wears an orange and red sweater, a gold necklace, a badge shaped like a heart with the rainbow pride flag, large, blue earrings, blue jeans, two-tone brown boots, and glasses with golden-yellow frames.
"Ah Luz here's breakfast." Camila said.
"Thanks Mama." Luz said as she ate.
After eating Camila turned on the faucet.
Luz held out her hand out and absorbed the water.
"Alright then I'm ready for the day." Luz said.
"Take care Luz te quero." Camila said.
"I love you too Mama." Luz said as she leaves.
As she comes out of the door she sees multiple people using their powers. This made Luz smile as walked to school as she walked she would look at the people some of them glared at her and her fellow Conduits though they were a minority.
Especially that one dude who said something about aliens and time machines. Thank the lord he was arrested when he tried to bomb a C.O.L.E (Conduit Outreach and Legal Endorsement center) building.
Besides that she smiled as she arrived at her destination Gravesfield High School.
But before she could reach the building she shivered and looked around finding no one. She then looked down at her shadow.
"Masha! Get out of my Shadow." Luz said.
Soon a figure raises from Luz's Shadow.
"Sorry about Luz I couldn't be late again." The now named Masha said.
Masha is of medium height, a slim build, medium-tan complexion, and has a chin-length black bob cut. They have dark brown eyes and a tooth gap. They wear a noodle-strap black dress that dons a small white bow on the top of the chest portion. Underneath the dress, they wear a dusty-mauve sweater with a thin turtleneck and bell sleeves. They also wear pastel mauve stockings, and black ankle boots that have crater brown accents on the inner sides. Their nails are done up to be almond shaped and painted yellow, white, purple, and black, in reference to the non-binary flag. They also have a bracelet with the Conduit Symbol.
It also signifies their status as a Conduit.
"Ugh you could've taken the bus Masha." Luz said.
"Nope your shadow is cheaper. Besides my folks are being asses again." Masha said.
Luz groaned at that.
"Still thinking that Conduits can be cured or should be imprisoned for their own good?" Luz asked despite knowing that answer.
"Yeah they do." Masha said with an eye roll.
"Did they not see how the D.U.P pretty much destroyed people's lives 6 years ago?" Luz said.
"They did. Though they also think that the military should have seen through Augustine's deception." Masha said as she shakes their head.
"That is probably the only thing we agree on." Luz said.
"Huh well that is fair." Masha said.
"Let's get to class Masha see you later." Luz said.
Masha grins.
"Later Luz." Masha said.
"Ok last day school this is gonna be awesome." Luz said as she went in.

A few hours later
School had ended a few hours ago and she was waiting at the principal's office. Why well that was the question she didn't know why?
Was it because she used her powers?
No she wouldn't be that stupid.
Was because of her Oral Book Report?
No she just give a normal OBR. No voices, no snakes and especially NO fireworks. Being serious for a second how would she sneak those in?
Was it the Griffin Taxidermy and the daddy long legs?
No that was a few months ago.
Soon her Mama came by.
"Why did you get called?" Camila asked.
"No clue I don't think I did anything?" Luz said.
"Hmmm… well we'll just need to check." Camila said.
Soon they were called into the office and saw that Principal Hal wasn't alone.
"Ugh Hopkins." Luz groaned.
"That Officer Hopkins to you Bioterrorist!" Officer Hopkins said.
"Yeah whatever what do you want Principal Hal?" Luz asked.
"Yes I'll cut to the chase. Officer Hopkins has spotted you graphitizing the city." Hal said as he gave Luz and Camila several photos.
Both Nocedas looked at the photo and after a few seconds Mother and Daughter began laughing at them.
"Oh good lord I needed that." Camila said as she takes out not only another set of photos and some papers.
The other set of Photos showed the completed works.
One of them was a tribute to Mrs. Conway's husband.
The second was the symbol of the Gravesfield's Bodega commissioned by the owner.
The last one was a mural and this one was commissioned by… Supernatant Ian Palmers.
Hal's eyes went wide and he then went pale when he saw the papers all of them saying that the commissioners consented the graffiti.
"PRINCIPAL HAL!" A voice said.
"Superintendent Palmers!" Hal said.
"I see that you still didn't learn your lesson and oh what's this Ex-Officer Hopkins I see you're still being racist towards Noceda." Palmers said.
"Grrr all of the fucking Bioterrorists should just die." Hopkins said.
"No more needs to be said Officers arrest them." Palmer said as three police officers came in and arrested them.
Hal didn't resist.
Hopkins did which led him to get tazed.
After they left Luz asked the Superintendent why Hal was being arrested.
Palmers revealed that Hal was getting kickbacks from Reality Check Camp.
"Oh that would explain why Hal was very insistent that Luz goes there." Camila said.
"Of course he would. I also need to inform you that RCC has… CT and CC programs." Palmers said
Camila was horrified at this revelation.
Luz on the other hand was pissed as all hell. Her hands were made into fists as water circled around them.
Especially since both CT and CC were involved.
CT and CC or Conversion Therapy and Conduit Curing.
Conversion Therapy is self-explanatory to Luz as she herself is Bisexual. So she knows about this Crackpot Religious Pseudo-Science Bullshit.
She was so thankful that her Mama accepted her as she is.
Conduit Curing on the other hand is relatively new C.R.P.S.B this time is where people mostly the ultra-religious type believes that extreme pain can remove a Conduit's powers. Electroshock, shooting, knives and much. MUCH more.
Needless to say she along with her friends are pissed by this. This also led to many, Many raids against them with Delsin and Fetch leading the charge.
With that done. Luz and Camila went home.
Later that night
Luz was sleeping now done with school. Sleeping soundly until a noise woke both her and Camila.
Luz went the bathroom and topped off on her powers. Camila was already downstairs with a red bat at hand ready to fight.
"Mama did you hear that?!" Luz shouted.
"I did and I hope it's just an injured animal." Camila said
Luz raised an eyebrow.
"I thought we… the officer in charge was Hopkins wasn't it." Luz said at first confused then annoyed.
"Me temo que si." Camila said.
"Ay dios." Luz said as she facepalms.
"Let's go… oh one more thing unless I say otherwise don't use your powers." Camila said.
Luz nodded.
They went out of the house and went to the nearby forest. After about 20 minutes Luz heard a pained voice nearby.
Luz went to where she see something that was like a 4 out 10 on the weird-o-meter.
This thing has a small, chubby serpentine body with two arms and a tail in place of legs. Her face is round with wide eyes and a turned-up nose. She has a catlike mouth in a "W" shape with two small teeth poking out from her bottom jaw with her lower lip being a dark maroon color. She has pale, swamp-green scales with cream-colored spots on her head, tail, underbelly, and the bottom half of her face. There are tufts of navy-blue hair on her head, back, and ears. Her eyes consist of yellow-gold pupils, black irises, and aqua sclera. She has off-white fins on the sides and tip of her tail, along with a dull peacock-blue piercing on the tip.
Luz noticed that a fishing line tied to her tail. The poor thing was scared out of her mind.
"Well at least I found what made the noise." Luz said.
It was then that thing (?) spoke.
"Please don't hurt me." The thing said.
"Don't worry. My mom and I will help you. Can you give me your name?" Luz said.
"T-thank you I'm number five." The now named Number Five said.
"That won't but that will be for another time for now I'll call you Vee." Luz said.
The newly rechristened Vee smile until she winched.
"Oh right Mama come here." Luz said.
"I'm here Lu- dios mios." Camila said.
"Mom she's hurt." Luz said as she pointed to her tail.
Camila's face harden as she got to work. She noticed that it was indeed Hopkin's work.
Luz was asked to use her powers.
"Ok Vee just hold still ok." Luz said as Vee nodded.
Luz began to channel her powers as she cuts the fishing line.
Vee's eyes widen as she saw the powers Luz used.
"I thought there was no magic in the Human Realm?" Vee said.
Camila didn't hear her as she was treating her.
But Luz did.
"Well let's just say what you know about us humans is… outdated." Luz said.
"Ok I've done all I can here. We need to get her home." Camila said.
Luz nodded.
Sometime later
Luz and Camila had just finished treating Vee's wounds and Vee thanked the Nocedas.
"It's no problem Vee. I'm just glad that the wound didn't get infected." Camila said.
"So… where are you from Vee?" Luz asked.
"You wouldn't believe me?" Vee said.
"Well I can literally control water. I know a chick that can vaporize people with Neon, I know of a man who could control both Ice and Electricity and best friend/future best man can control five different power sets. So I can believe it." Luz said as Camila nods.
"Ok then." Vee said.
Vee then told them about her life.
Needless to say they were pissed, shocked and amazed (ok that last one is on Luz).
After a few hours Vee was given the basement and an air mattress to sleep in.
While that happened Luz and Camila spoke.
"This is quite the dilemma." Camila said.
"Yeah so… what do we do?" Luz said.
"I don't know? But I do know that we need to take care of her." Camila said.
"Oh yeah we will. So how do I go off the grid this year?" Luz said.
"Hmmm… I don't know maybe we could." Camila started to say until she see an owl peck at the window.
Both Nocedas looked out the window to see a small owl. He has a tan face, a light brown stomach, and his back, wings, tail, and upper head and forehead are dark brown. He has large yellow eyes and a russet beak and feet.
Mother and Daughter recognized the little bird.
"OWLBERT!" Luz said.
"Edalyn's Pet Owl." Camila said.
Luz opened the window and let the little guy in.
"Oh you cute little guy how have you been? I haven't seen you in years." Luz asked.
"Hoot." Owlbert said with a nod.
"Is Eda with you?" Camila asked.
Owlbert shakes his head.
"Think you can give Eda a message?" Luz asked as Owlbert hoots excitedly.
Vee eyes widen as she recognized what Owlbert is.
"(The Owl Lady's Palisman, here)?" Vee thought.
Luz wrote a letter and gave it to Owlbert.
Owlbert gave a salute with his wing and flew off.
"Ok then with that settled I think we should go back to bed." Camila said.
"Yeah we should we'll deal with this in the morning." Luz said.
The three of them nodded at this and went to bed.
With Owlbert
Owlbert's POV
Oh happy day what was just another day of collecting human garbage turned into a reunion! I had just seen the Water Owlet and her mother after so long.
I hadn't seen her since Seattle. Hell I didn't see Neon Hawk, Video Owl and City Crow. I missed them but I didn't missed Concrete Gosse and I had no idea where Smokey Raven went. But I really hated Concrete Gosse she was the one that didn't let Water Owlet, Smokey Raven, Neon Hawk and Video Owl fly and be free. She was also the one who attacked City Crow's Murder.
Soon however I crossed the threshold and saw my mistress and my royal friend. Also Hooty he's there too.
"Oh Owlbert you're back and where's your haul?" His Mistress asked.
I gave Mistress the letter she then read who the letter was from. Her eyes widen in shock as she reads the, to and from.

From: Water Owlet
"Water Owlet… Luz." His mistress said with a wide grin.
She then read the letter. Surprised that a Basilisk is alive.
"King, Owlbert we're going to the human realm tomorrow morning." His Mistress said.
