When Rebekah got back to the mansion, her brother was waiting for her in the entryway. "Bloody hell, Nik! Why are you prowling at the door?"

"Elijah wants to see you now," Klaus told her. Their brother was currently up with Elena at the moment, but he was going to want to deal with Rebekah as soon as he was done.

Rebekah's eyes lit up at the mention of their older brother. Elijah was her favorite brother, and she was ecstatic that he was home. "Elijah's back? Wonderful!"

"I would curb that enthusiasm, sister. He's furious," Klaus said. He actually felt bad for his sister. Elijah was angrier than he'd seen in a long time, and it was very rare for that anger to be directed towards Rebekah. Whatever punishment Elijah doled out; Rebekah would not be pleased with.

"Why? What did you do now?" Rebekah asked. She just assumed it was Nik that provoked Elijah's ire. He was usually to blame when that happened.

Klaus laughed. "Oh, it wasn't me this time. It's you that has provoked our brother's ire."

"What? I haven't done anything," Rebekah protested.

Before either of them could say another word, Elena flashed into the room at vampire speed and threw Rebekah into nearest wall hard enough to crack it.

Rebekah let out a loud shriek before pulling herself up a little to look at Elena with rage. "What the bloody…?"

Elena didn't even let her finish her sentence before pouncing on her again, pulling her up and tossing her away from her again like a ragdoll. She found energy she hadn't had before when she heard Rebekah's voice. All she felt was rage for what Rebekah had done to her. She hated her more than she'd ever hated anyone, even Klaus.

Now, Rebekah was really pissed as she picked herself up off the ground. The stupid little doppelganger had gotten the element of surprise, but she was about to learn not to mess with an original. "You're going to pay for that, you stupid little bitch!"

"Hey, don't destroy my house!" Klaus yelled at them both.

"Let's go! You can't do anything worse than you've already done!" Elena snarled.

Rebekah growled and threw herself on Elena, causing them both to fall to the ground.

Elena lunged forward and bit Rebekah in the shoulder before kneeing her in the stomach, causing Rebekah to be thrown off of her. She went to attack again, but she felt a pair of arms circle around her.

Rebekah yelled out and grabbed the spot where Elena bit her. "You're going to die for that!"

"Niklaus, help please," Elijah said as he held Elena firmly in his arms.

Klaus grabbed Rebekah and held her to his body just as she went to attack the doppelganger. "That's enough, sister."

"Get your hands off me, Nik! The little bitch bit me!" Rebekah said as she stared at Elena both in rage and disbelief. She couldn't believe this had even happened. The new vampire shouldn't be that strong. True, she had the element of surprise, but she still had a strength that she shouldn't. Rebekah should've been able to subdue her much easier. She supposed it didn't matter though because she was going to kill the stupid girl.

Elena struggled hard in Elijah's arms. She didn't make much headway though. She was stronger than she used to be, which was why she was able to struggle at all, but he was obviously stronger. "That's not even half of what I'm going to do to you after what you've done to me! You destroyed my life!"

"I'm about to end it!" Rebekah snarled.

Elena laughed bitterly. "Good luck. Unless you've got a white oak stake handy, you've made that impossible! Thanks to you, I can't die!"

"What?" Rebekah asked in confusion, her rage dissipating only slightly.

"That's enough," Elijah said before pulling Elena from the room despite her struggles.

Rebekah finally pulled herself out of her brother's arms and turned to look at him. "What the hell is she talking about? What's she even doing here?"

"When you killed her, you didn't just turn her into a vampire. You made her one of us," Klaus told his sister.

"What? That's not possible," Rebekah said in disbelief.

"She died with Elijah's blood in her system," he said.

"How is that possible, and even that did happen, what does it have to do with anything?" Rebekah asked. Elena wouldn't be the first person one of them turned. Every normal vampire stemmed from one of their lines. None of them turned into originals.

"She's a doppelganger, Rebekah. Her body is filled with the same enchanted blood that created us, and now it's mixed with the blood of an original," Klaus reasoned.

"Why do you think she's an original? That can't be the only reason," Rebekah said, suddenly feeling the pit of her stomach start twisting. Turning Elena into an original was never what she intended. She never even considered the possibility, and she wouldn't have done what she did if she knew it would happen.

"Well, I'm sure you've noticed she's stronger than a new vampire should be, at least for a typical vampire. She also can't feed the way normal vampires do. That's why she's here. Her wannabe boyfriends left her to starve when she couldn't keep down blood bags or animal blood. The only blood she's been able to accept thus far is human blood from the vein and Elijah's blood.

Rebekah flashed back to when they had learned about donated blood and first began trying it. Elijah had suggested it for emergencies, as humans might not always be readably available to them. Unfortunately, their stomachs couldn't handle it. After a lot of training, she and Elijah could barely keep it down. Nik and Kol never succeeded with it. It was how they learned how much originals different from normal vampires.

Rebekah almost felt like the air was being forced from her lungs. This was not what she wanted. She had wanted to kill Elena Gilbert. She didn't want to turn her into an original. She didn't even mean to turn her into a vampire. She hated the girl, but she wouldn't wish being an original on anyone, especially the first several centuries. She mostly accepted what she was now, but she wished for death for many years after she was first turned. "I didn't know."

"I know, Rebekah. Unfortunately, our brother doesn't much care whether you knew what would happen or not. Elena certainly doesn't. I can't really blame her for that or her reaction to you," Klaus said.

"I couldn't have known that she would have Elijah's blood in her, or that it would make her one of us. She wasn't supposed to turn at all. She was just supposed to die," Rebekah said.

"You think that makes it better?" Elijah asked coldly as he entered the room once more. He'd gotten Elena calmed down, and she'd fallen asleep quickly afterwards. The moment her adrenaline disappeared, her exhaustion had taken over.

"Elijah, I didn't know this would happen," Rebekah swore.

"You didn't care what would happen. You wanted her dead! If she somehow turned, you didn't care about that either, as long as you got your revenge!" Elijah said harshly.

"It was the only way to stop Alaric Saltzman," Rebekah said.

"Don't give me that! You wanted Elena dead before that. I came upon you preparing to drain her once. You are going to tell me you took no pleasure in ending Elena's life?" Elijah asked.

"She daggered me!" Rebekah finally said after a moment. She couldn't deny that she took pleasure in it. Elena daggered her. She wanted revenge. Alaric's connection to Elena presented her with the perfect opportunity to get revenge and stop him at the same time.

"Don't! She daggered me too, probably for the same reason she daggered you. To protect her loved ones. You and I both would have done the same. In any event, what she did hasn't changed your life in the slightest! You have changed her life forever! She can't even die anymore," Elijah said.

Rebekah felt guilt seep into every part of her body. She hadn't wanted this. She knew exactly what it felt like to go through what Elena was. She knew what it was like to be forced into a life she never wanted. She wouldn't purposely do that to anyone. "I didn't mean to."

"That's irrelevant, Rebekah. It doesn't change what happened. Not only is Elena an original for the rest of eternity, she's stuck in this house. I can't let her leave. She's forced to spend an indefinite amount of time with two people who murdered her. That alone is torturing her, but it's only the beginning. Do you understand what I'm going to have to do to get her through this? She's been starving herself for weeks because she's afraid to hurt someone. She's fighting me to feed just on me. I am almost certainly going to have to force her to feed on humans, and she will kill people at first. Do you understand what that will do to her?" Elijah asked angrily.

"I…I'll leave," Rebekah said in a hurt tone. She'd never heard her brother so angry with her before, and she couldn't even fight it because she knew he was right.

"No, you won't," Elijah said. As angry as he was, he would never ask his sister to leave their family, even though he knew that her presence would make things harder for Elena. Besides, his sister did not get to hide from what she'd done. "You're going to stay here and you're going to bear witness to everything Niklaus and I have to do to help Elena. You are going to sit and watch as I have to make her suffer in order to help her. And like her, you will not leave this house for any reason other than to feed. Do you understand me?"

"Yes," Rebekah said. She didn't dare argue. She knew her brother was livid, and she also knew she deserved his ire. They had all lived through the suffering that Elena was going through now. It was much worse than death, or even normal vampirism.

"Good," was all Elijah said before leaving the room.

"Come here, love," Klaus said before pulling his sister into his arms. He felt bad watching his brother go at her. She deserved it, but he knew that having Elijah of all people lecture her like that was very difficult for Rebekah.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know this would happen," Rebekah said as she let her brother comfort her.

"I know, sister. He'll get past it soon. He's just angry," Klaus told her.

"He's right," Rebekah said before pulling out of his arms and leaving the room.
