The pain pulsing through her body is what woke her, unfocused blue eyes peered open to see a stone ceiling. Tremors shook her body alerting her that her body hasn't regurgitated it's temperature. Raising her right arm she saw her whole arm bandage, blood speckled the tips of her fingers and hand. Taking a deep breath she pushed herself up to look around the room. Pulling the blanket up around her shoulders, blue eyes landed on the bed by the window. Their red haired navigator was sleeping soundly. She noted that Nami and her clothes were similar. Standing Luna made her way to the navigator's bed, leaning forward she placed her own forehead on the younger girl's forehead. A sigh escaped her lips when she noticed the girl's fever finally broke. It still wasn't normal but it was working it's way there.
"Ah you shouldn't be up yet!"
Luna pulled away from her friend to look at the reindeer. A smile stretched over her face at the doctor, "I apologize I was so worried for my friend. I assume Dr. Kureha was able to treat her?"
The reindeer nodded from his hiding place at the door. A soft giggle left the woman's lips, "I believe that you're hiding incorrectly doctor."
Chopper looks shocked, "d-doctor?"
Luna held up her hand to the reindeer while wiggling her fingers, "I think I'm in need of new bandages doctor."
Chopper yelped at the blood splotch on her bandages before ushering her to her bed to sit. As Chopper removed her dirtied wrappings he was shocked to see her fingers no longer had any cuts. Her skin was a healthy pink color and not the blacken color from earlier.
"B-but how?"
"Her body repairs itself faster than normal, it would have been faster had she not been frozen on arrival."
Luna's eyes met Kureha, standing in the door way. Luna greeted the doctor with a close eyed smile, "hello again Dr. Kureha."
Chopper looked between the two confused, "what do you mean Doctorine? How do you know her?"
Kureha walked over to the pair, "she has powers that makes her body unlike any I've ever seen. She stopped by this island several months ago. Was quiet a mystery with her lower body temperature and healing ability."
Kureha poke the woman on the forehead, "still about 70.6. If I recall your normal is 83.7 from your last visit."
A chuckle escaped the woman as another tremor shock her body, "sharp as ever, I see."
Kureha stood back smile still on her own face, "Chopper fetch another blanket after you rewrap her arms. The bandages will warm her up." Kureha walked back out of the room, probably to get more Plum Sake.
As the reindeer set to work Luna's eyes watched him. Luna could see why he was such a great doctor, even under her gaze he work diligently. When he finished he left to fetch her blanket was when Nami began to wake.
Luna watched the girl take in her surroundings, Nami felt her own head.
"Your fever has broken, but you're sickness is not cured."
"Luna!" The girl move to get out of the bed.
"You can't be out of bed yet!"
Chopper slipped into the room with the girls. He made his way to Luna with the blanket in his arms. The woman helped him place the blanket on top of her already covered form. Before the little reindeer could turn to the navigator again Kureha walked into the room.
"Chopper go check on the other two in the back."
The reindeer scurried off into the back room, as Kureha moved towards Nami. Luna watched from her blanket fort she made for herself as Kureha spoke to the girl, informing her of her condition. To say Nami wasn't happy about the prognosis would be an understatement.
"Nami listen to Kureha, without a ship doctor it wouldn't be wise to leave until you're fully treated. I'm only able to preform basic first aid."
Before the navigator could rebuttal a yell came from the backroom the boys were in, all three women looked over to the opening just in time to see Sanji and Luffy coming out carrying Chopper. Both boys yelling about Chopper being food as the reindeer yelled in panic. Chopper was able to break free from their grasp when they got distracted by seeing Nami. While Sanji gushed over Nami, Luffy's head was on a swivel before his eyes landed on Luna. The boy was quick to scramble over to his sister's bed, his face devoid of his usual smile.
"You pushed yourself too far."
It wasn't a question but a statement, Luna knew better than to argue with the boy. Years of dealing with his stubbornness taught her that he wouldn't back down about his loved ones safety. Meeting his black eyes Luna pulled a sad smile, "I know Luffy. I deeply apologize I was blinded by worry for the others. I'll try harder in the future not to endanger my health."
The young captain seemed satisfied with that answer and gave a solid nod before pulling the cover up over her head to make a hood. Turning quickly he was out of the room he after Chopper, both siblings not noticing the other two watching the interaction. Sanji ran after Luffy yelling to let him cook Chopper first, Nami looked over at the older woman.
"You two seem close."
A soft smile crossed her lips as she winked at the girl, "you could say we're thick as theives."
This pulled a hearty laugh from the red head, a shiver disturbed her laugh. Both woman looked to see the boys left the door open, the cold air seeping in. Nami moved to get up to close the door only for Chopper to come back into the room and cautiously closing the door behind him. Luna watch on as the shy reindeer interacted with Nami. When Nami prompted him to come with them Luna couldn't hold herself back any longer.
"Who cares if you're a reindeer, or have a blue noise? We are asking you because we like you for who you are, and if you haven't noticed we're not what you would consider 'normal.'"
Chopper looked over at her in shock. Sadly before he could say anything back Luffy burst through the door loudly. Again the chase was on, it seemed Sanji had abandoned the chase to cook the girls a less troublesome meal. Kureha came back into the room out of breath from trying to keep up with the boys.
Sitting down heavily in the chair near Nami she drank from her favorite plum wine. "How dare you two try to steal my assistant out from under me."
Nami being her cheeky self answered her, "I didn't know I needed your permission to flirt with a guy."
A chuckle escaped the doctor, "oh by all means take him."
Luna watched on slowly blocking out Chopper's backstory, it broke her heart to hear it. Her eyes became unfocused as she began losing herself to her thoughts, thinking about what was to come next. Wapol should be showing up soon and after being defeated, the others would make it up here. A bang broke her of her thoughts as her eyes refocused once more, Chopper stood in the door way with a fearful expression.
"Doctorine Wapol is back!"
The doctor rushed out of the room followed by Sanji, Luna decide not to get into this fight. She wouldn't be much help in her frozen state. Keeping herself bundled up, she watch Luffy rush in looking for a coat. Nami gave him hers, though Luna knew it was with a condition. Luna couldn't help but wondered where her clothes were placed. The loud noises outside told Luna that Chopper was impressing Luffy with his different forms. She watched Nami make her way out of the room as another tremor shook her body.
Luna closed her eyes as she listened to the chaos going on around her. She heard Nami trying to trick Wapol, who had made his way inside when Luffy was distracted. Sighing she stood up to look from some heavier clothes knowing Nami will want to leave quickly. Shivering she looked around finding a chest, upon looking inside she was able to find a black turtle neck sweater. Slipping her blanket off she placed the turtle neck on, before wrapping the blanket around herself again. A familiar yell told her Luffy was fighting Wapol inside now. She found some black snow boots to slip on as she left the room. Making her way outside she saw Kureha and Chopper looking up to the roof. Moving to stand besides them she looked up in time to see her brother launch Wapol into the distance.
Her eyes unmoving from Luffy's form as she spoke, "he can be stubborn, he won't leave without you."
The reindeer looked up at her in shock before a noise caught their attention. Chopper ran into the woods near by as Luna turned towards the lift. Zoro and Usopp walk out of the opening, Luffy let out a yell from above as he launched himself at the two. Luna moved over to the boys the blanket still tightly wrapped around her. Vivi walk out from down below, before seeing the white haired woman.
"Luna! How's Nami doing?"
The princess stop in front of the older woman, "Nami is being treated. Her fever finally broke and the doctor wants her to stay a few more days. Nami's unhappy about that decision."
The princess nodded at the white haired woman as Zoro took notice of her. "What happened to you?!"
Luna's eyes met the swordsman's own, she gave a sheepish look before scratching her head. "I may have over done it getting up here. Don't worry though as soon as I warm up I will be right as rain."
Zoro huffed as Luffy told Usopp he found a new crew mate. Doltan made his way out from the lift, his shock at the fact that Luffy defeated Wapol was enough to bring him to his knees. The ex-captain saw Chopper and upon seeing his nose Doltan eye's fill with tears. The man pleaded for the doctor to forgive him and tell him how happy he's still alive.
While Chopper was in shock by the ex-captain, the villagers made their way to the group. Once they see Chopper their fear gets the best of them as they yell at the fleeing reindeer. While Luffy argued with Usopp about Chopper's spot on the crew, Kureha told the villagers to bring the injured up. Kureha looked over at Luna, "I don't believe I told you that you could leave yet."
Biting her lip Luna rushed back inside as to not get scolded anymore. Making her way back into her blanket fort, Luna looked over to Nami as she bargained her way out of paying for her treatment. Kureha took the key telling Nami where to find a coat and how no one would be watching over them. Before Kureha left the room she pointed at Luna, "and you don't you dare reclaim your clothes from the other room."
Luna chuckled as she move to the other room without hesitation, finding her clothes from earlier, dry and ready. Quickly she changed; two layers of shirts, she put the turtle neck back on, her leggings and jeans, two pair of socks, and her boots. Finding a new coat she slipped it on as well as two pair of gloves and a hat.
Standing outside a shiver racked her body, they were waiting for Chopper. Unknown to her Zoro shifted closer to her to give her some of his warmth. Chopper was inside telling Kureha goodbye, as Usopp yelled to Luffy about getting the lift ready. Suddenly Chopper came running out with the sleigh yelling for everyone to board. Knowing what was chasing the reindeer, Luna wasted no time climbing in while the others questioned it. They got their answer as Kureha came running out the castle throwing a axe at them. The other quickly climbed in beside Luna as Chopper began running down the rope connecting the lift. They made their way down the rope, Luffy laughing and cheering the entire way. Once reaching the bottom they made their way to the ship when cannon fire caught their attention.
"That sounded like it was from the castle."
They stopped to look when the a beautiful sight greeted them. The once pristine white snow was now a lovely pink, the mountain now resembled a Sakura tree in full bloom. Luna walked over the ship's doctor as he sobbed in happiness. Placing a hand on his head Chopper turned and jumped into her arms as he cried. Luna smiled down at the reindeer as she soothed him, letting him get it all out.
They made it to the ship to find Karoo frozen in the river. Chopper snapped into doctor mode, and helped Vivi warm up the frozen duck. Once the duck was thawed out it came to light that Karoo dived into the water because of Zoro. Both younger girls turned to yell at the swordsman who was seated not to far away. Luna chuckled as she watched the interaction as Sanji brought over hot tea for her. It wasn't long before the welcome party for Chopper, and for herself once Luffy remembered they didn't have a party for her, started. The party was in full swing when Nami and Luna prompted Chopper to enjoy it. After getting the confirmation, it didn't take long for the young reindeer to start enjoying himself. Luna slipped the navigator's drink out of her hand, giving a stern look she handed the girl some water.
"Just because Chopper is enjoy his party doesn't mean you're excused to do as you wish. You're still healing no alcohol until your treatment is finished."
Nami pouted but listen to the older woman, Luna gave a small nod. Leaning back Luna enjoyed the atmosphere, happy to see everyone enjoying themselves.
The party went on for a few more hours, before the youngest members were asleep in a pile on the deck. Nami and Vivi had made their way to their room, while Sanji fell asleep in the kitchen.
A light from the bow of the ship caught Zoro's attention. Standing he made his way to the back to see his captain's sister staring at the moon. She was still wearing some heavy clothes, remembering that the new ship's doctor cleared her. The light he saw was coming from around her neck, the soft glow framing her face. He could have sworn he saw her eyes glowing as well.
Stepping up behind her Zoro called out to the woman, "oi."
The white haired woman turned to the swordsman, Zoro noticed the glow disappeared. A small smile graced her lips upon seeing him, "hello Zoro I thought everyone was asleep."
Zoro's hand rested on his sword's hilts, out of habit, "what were you doing?"
Luna turned back to the moon with a gentle smile, "since I was young I've been drawn to the moon. During the full moon I noticed my necklace would glow as I'm sure you saw, I'm not fully sure why but I feel rejuvenated after the glowing ends. I didn't mean to worry you."
Zoro scoffed as he looked away from her, "I wasn't worried."
Luna turned back to the swordsman a soft look in her eyes, "I wanted to thank you Zoro." Zoro looked back at her with a confused look, "I'm overjoyed you were the first Luffy recruited. I couldn't imagine a better first mate for my brother."
Zoro watched as Luna moved to stand in front of him, he looked down at the shorter woman. Luna stood on her toes as her hands rested on his shoulders before she lightly kissed his cheek. Pulling away she made her way down to the girls' room, "night Zoro."
Zoro's face heated up as his eyes followed the woman. Once she disappeared he let out a groan before running a hand over his face.
