The next day started out seemingly calm, Robin was earning the younger members' trust by helping Luffy with his impressions. Zoro was still keeping his distance while observing her, Sanji was offering her drinks he's made while Nami was sitting with her.
Luna came out from the girl's bedroom, Robin looked up from her book at the woman. "Is something wrong, Miss Luna?"
Robin was informed by the others the woman's sleeping habits and she wasn't due to be up yet. Luna didn't say anything at first as she moved to pick up Chopper before turning to the crew.
"Hold on to something." She stated plainly before using a wave to push them to the right. Before Nami could yell about the sudden jerk, a ship fell from the sky landing right where they were. Everyone's eyes widened before turning to look at her. Silently the woman set the doctor down before moving to the side of the Merry, stopping the wave that was created by the falling ship.
"DREAM! YEAH, THIS MUST BE A DREAM!" Usopp yelled as he curled up trying to calm down, before a skeleton fell onto him.
"BONES!" Usopp cried as he threw the skeleton which Luna caught.
As the rain of ship pieces ended and the sea calmed once more everyone tried to calm down. Luffy stared up at the remains of the ship with a whistle.
"Why the heck did a ship fall from the sky?!"
"There's nothing in the sky." Zoro answered as he looked around the open sky.
"Oh man, the Grand Line is a crazy place!" Usopp shuddered in fear.
"What's wrong, Nami-swan?" The chef asked while looking at the navigator, who was glaring at her Log Pose.
"What're we gonna do?! Our Log Pose is broken! It's stuck pointing upwards."
"That's not it. It was updated by an island with a stronger magnetism. If the Log Pose needle is pointing upwards, that means the log has been caught by the sky island." Robin replied looking up.
"SKY ISLAND?!" Everyone yelled back, minus Luna.
Luna held her chin in thought as she tilted her head, "now that you mention it there are stories of sky island. I believe they have there own sea as well."
"Yay! There's a sea with an island floating in the sky?!" Luffy shouted. "Alright! Let's head there right away!"
"Hey, guys! Turn the rudder upwards!" Usopp followed Luffy's lead.
"In any case, you can't turn upwards, Captain." Sanji said bursting Luffy and Usopp's bubble.
"To be honest, I've never seen the sky island, nor do I know much about it." Mused Robin.
"Yeah! It's impossible for an island or sea to float in the air! So, the Log Pose really must be broken." Nami insisted.
"No, Navigator, our concern right now should not be the Log Pose, it should be how we get to the sky. No matter what weird situation this ship gets caught up in, or how panicked we get, we must not doubt the Log Pose. This is an ironclad rule. What we should doubt is rather the someon sense in our heads."
Luna caught the navigator's attention, "she's right the Log Pose is law. If it says there's an island above us then there's an island above us." She looked back at the broken ship, "we need information now."
"What's that woman doing, opening that coffin?!" Chopper cried from behind Luna. Luna took notice to their navigator shacking her wrist vigorously.
"She's an archaeologist, and sometimes the dead can answer questions the living have." Luna said as she watched the older woman piece together the broken skull.
"Can you learn anything from that?" Zoro question, his arms crossed as he eyed the archaeologist.
"This...," Robin stopped short as she picked up another piece of skull.
"What you're doing in really freaky!" Nami shouted from behind the mast.
"A pretty woman and the dead, now that's an interesting combination." Sanji sighed from his position at the head of the coffin.
"She put it back together..." Chopper mumbled still hiding behind Luna's legs.
"The holes here are man-made," Robin stated as she ran her hand over the skull.
"So that means that this guy died when someone bashed his head?" Sanji questioned.
Luna moved closer to look at the three holes, "not necessarily, look those holes are too perfectly circular."
"Right, it's from a surgery method known as trepanation. Isn't that right doctor?" Robin responded.
Chopper looked over the skull now on Luna's shoulder, "yes, it was used to cure some head diseases in the past... But that's a very old method."
"That's right. It's been at least 200 years since he died. He was in his early 30s. He must have died of sickness while voyaging," she said. "His teeth are still intact unlike the rest of his skull because they were covered with rubbing oil. This was a custom of a particular area in South Blue. From that point in history, this ship must have been used for exploring."
Robin pick up a historical book, opening it and stopping at a certain page.
"Here it is. The 'St. Briss' of Briss, a kingdom in the South Blue. It set sail 208 years ago."
"It's the same ship that fell from the sky!" Chopper exclaimed at the picture depicted.
"This ship must have been up there for about 200 years..." Robin trailed off.
"Just from a skull, you can find that much information?" Nami said in awe.
"He may not be able to speak, but he can still tell his tale. If the ship was used for exploring, there must be a router in the ship..."
"Yeah... but the ship is sinking quickly..." Murmured Nami, staring at the ship. Her eyes widen in panic when she saw Luffy waving his arms wildly out of the sea.
"WHAT'RE YOU GUYS DOING?!"
"HELP ME!" Luffy cried out.
"HE'S DROWNING!" Usopp pointed at his captain, standing above a floating part of boat next to Luffy.
"DON'T JUST STAND THERE!" Nami yelled at the sharp shooter.
Luna waved her hand pulling both boys to the safety of the Merry. The captain left out a sigh in relief.
"Hey, everyone! Look at what I got! I found something really cool! Look at this!" He yelled before holding up a map.
"A map of... Skypiea?!" Nami read.
"Hey! Hey! Does this mean there really is an island up there?!"
"YAHOO!" Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper cheered.
"Alright! The sky island exists! It's a dream island! We can go to a dream island!" Laughed the young captain.
"Don't get so worked up, it's a possibility... there are too many fake maps out there!" Nami burst the three's bubble. The three youngest looking devastated at her causing her to backtrack.
"Ah... sorry! There is, there is. There must be one..." Nami became angry once again. "ALL I WANT TO SAY IS I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THERE!"
Luffy argued back with her, "YOU'RE A NAVIGATOR RIGHT?! THINK OF SOMETHING!"
"THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED IMPOSSIBLE!" Nami yelled back.
"I DON'T CARE! I WANNA GO UP THERE!" Luna sighed at the agrument before interjecting.
"The Log Pose is pointing up, it won't change until we land on the island it's synced with. We need to gather information like Robin said, we need to get that ship's router."
"But it's totally sunk now..." Usopp commented.
"IF IT'S SUNK THEN WE WILL JUST HAVE TO SALVAGE IT!" Nami yelled determined.
Usopp and Luffy agreed with her, while Zoro questioned it possibility.
"What is salvage?" Chopper questioned from Luna's shoulders still. Robin answered, "it means to pull up a sunken ship, but that one is to big for use..."
Usopp came up with some barrel scuba suits, while Luna sweatdropped.
"Hahaha, not bad at all, just one thing... are you sure this is going to work?" Luffy questioned unsure.
"Don't worry! My work is as good as perfection!" Usopp replied.
The monster three dived into the water before Luna cut in while watching them sink. "You do know I could have gotten the router. I can actually breath under water."
"WHAT?!?!"
Luna chuckled, "I'll go too so they don't break what we need."
Luna jumped off the ship into the water where she quickly caught up with the boys. She saw them talking to the others through the breathing tube. Zoro and Sanji was shocked by seeing Luna without a diving suit, while Luffy just laughed happily.
They made their way to the ship only to find items that disintegrated upon any slight movement. Luna looked around for the router not distracted by other items. There was no router to be found before several blades pieced the haul. Luna moved back to the monster trio signaling to them they need to leave. Luna noticed they had company from the other salvagers. Before Luna could stop them the boys made quick work of them, she could only rub her head knowing how this would end.
Once the air filled the ship Luna called to Luffy, "you guys are good to take the barrels off."
Luffy was quick to shed the restrictive barrel, "Ah! Much better!"
Luna picked the octopus off of Zoro as he removed his barrel, "I didn't think that this much air could come down here... but who is trying to lift the ship?"
He looked to Luna for answers but before she could respond the wall behind Luffy smashed open.
"WHO DARES TO CAUSE TROUBLE IN MY PART OF THE SEA?!"
"Ah! A monkey!" Luffy stated nonchalantly.
"Do I really look like a monkey?" The monkey guy questioned, seeming happy.
"Yeah, you look more like a monkey than a real monkey!"
Sanji cut in, "who are you?"
After introduction to Masira, the monkey guy, Luffy started chatting with him. While that took place Luna waved Zoro over, "I'm gonna head up to let the others know that we're all safe and that I was unable to find the router."
The swordsman nodded as Luna and the octopus left out a window. As she made her way to the Merry, Luna saw the giant sea turtle about to eat the ship. Knowing everything would be fine she continued to the surface, before boarding the ship Luna let the little octopus go allowing it to swim away.
Luna landed on the Merry and used her powers to pull the water from her clothing and hair. She walked up to the group as Robin dropped the bomb that the guys were swallowed by the turtle.
"Well no, they are in the mouth but they'll be fine."
The cowardly trio jumped at her voice while Robin smiled at her.
"Were you able to find the router?"
"Sadly no, nearly everything disintegrated with any movement."
The Merry suddenly was jerked by the pipes the boys used for air.
"It seems if we don't cut off the pipes... we will be pulled underwater along with the ship."
The cowardly trio yelled, "NOOOOO!!"
"Robin! Luna! You're Strong Do Something!"
"I can't it's too big."
The other crew was yelling about how their captain was still alive making Usopp think this was a test on teamwork.
"Usopp!" Nami called out.
"Right!" Usopp responded think she had a plan.
"Cut the air pipes to ensure our safety!"
"YOU'RE A DEVIL!!"
Luna looked up just as the sun seemed to disappear making the world appear night. Usopp looked around fearfully, "HUH?! WHAT HAPPENED?!"
Chopper cried out, "WHY IS IT NIGHT?!"
"No way... it's not even time yet!" Nami replied looking at her watch.
Luna and Robin took notice the other crew acting strange yelling about the darkness being a bad omen. Suddenly Luffy came flying out of the sea flying over Usopp and Nami.
"Luffy?!"
Chopper jumped down from Luna's shoulders standing next to Luffy, "LUFFY! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! ARE YOU DEAD?"
Zoro and Sanji soon jumped on board, "LET'S GO! WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE!"
Sanji mumbled under his breath, "that guy was a pain..."
"YOU'RE SAFE! AHHH! WE SHOULD RUN AWAY FROM THAT GIANT SEA TURTLE FIRST!" Usopp yelled.
"Turtle? No it was just a monkey," Zoro started. "Must be some kind of sea monster." Sanji continued. "It was very friendly with Luffy at first," Zoro explained. "Since they are both monkeys." Sanji added.
"But when he saw these sacks full of stuff we found, he started going berserk on us!" Zoro exclaimed. "He was like a crazy gorilla!" Sanji finished.
Usopp interjected, "yeah that's Masira, he's here to recover the sunken ship! Good job escaping that giant sea turtle's mouth..."
Both men looked confused, "turtle? What turtle?"
"Huh? That's weird the turtle has it's mouth wide open... No wonder you were able to escape."
The boys turned to look at the massive sea turtle.
"WHOA!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"
"YOU JUST NOTICED IT?! THAT THING SWALLOWED THE SHIP WITH YOU GUYS IN IT!"
"WAHHH..." Luffy finally woke up. "Huh? Is it nighttime already?"
"Luffy! Help move the ship out!" Zoro called to the captain.
"YOU!! CANNOT LEAVE!" Masira landed on the railing. "You think you can just come into my territory... STEAL MY TREASURE AND JUST RUN AWAY FROM ME!?"
"Treasure? You found treasure?" Nami inquired excitedly.
"Shishi... Yep! Lots of it!" Luffy grinned.
"CAP... CAPTAIN! DA... DANGER!" Masira' s crew cried out. Everyone turned to see the three massive winged people standing over the two ships and turtle.
"MONSTERS!!"
The Merry was able to escape after the fright from those giant beings. The sun shined once again as everyone tried to calm down and rationalize what they just saw.
"... Impossible."
"Yeah... nothing could be that big."
"Today has been a really weird day..." Sanji huffed out.
"A galleon fell from the sky..." Zoro continued.
"The Log Pose keeps pointing up..." Nami added.
"The strange monkey appeared to recover sunken ship..." Usopp groaned.
"A giant sea turtle ate the ship..." Chopper huffed.
"The sky went black..." Robin chinned in.
"Finally giant monsters a hundred times bigger than regular giants showed up!" Luffy finished.
"Yup! That really scared me!" Masira said.
Luna sat quietly waiting for the crew to notice the interloper. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji took notice finally and proceeded to kick Masira off the ship, "GET OUT OF HERE!"
The boys showed their spoils they found in the deep, which was promptly denied by Nami, who was less than impressed. Sanji tried to explain how the ship looked like it had been through an attack. Nami walked away from the boys upset. If they don't have more information they are going to be walking into a death trap. Once Nami came to stop next to the other two women of the crew Robin handed her a Eternal Log Pose.
"Wha? This is an 'Eternal Log Pose!' How did you..."
"I stole it from that monkey's ship." Robin replied to the navigator's confusion. Nami got teary eyed at the oldest woman.
"'Jaya' must be their headquarters."
"No Jaya is a outlaw island. Marines don't usually go there so it's a safe haven for pirates." Luna informed Nami, Luffy walked up next to Luna stuffing his face.
"Jaya? Are we going to go there?"
"SHOULDN'T THAT BE FOR YOU TO DECIDE?!" Nami yelled at the childish captain.
"OOOKAY, TURN TOWARDS JAYA FULL SPEED!"
Usopp cut in, "hey! Wait a second! If we just go directly to Jaya... wouldn't the 'record' be overwritten when we get there?"
"The Log Pose doesn't set that quickly. We just can't stay there to long." Luna chimed in from her place on the railing.
"THEN IT SETTLED TO JAYA!"
"Still can't see it, Usopp?" Zoro questioned.
The sharp shooter was looking over the sea through his binoculars, "I haven't seen it yet!"
Zoro sighed as he looked around, "it shouldn't be so far away, right? That monkey-man said that area back there was his territory."
Nami hummed in thought, "hmm... the weather has been steady for a while, we are probably in Jaya's weather area."
Luffy laid on the Merry's figure head looking at the sky, "Jaya must be a 'spring' island."
Chopper was happily enjoying the air near Luffy, "so warm, feels so good. Spring is such a good season. Those seagulls seem to be feeling well, too."
Suddenly three seagulls landed dead on the Merry infront of Chopper, scaring the doctor.
"AHHH! THEY WERE SHOT!"
"Oh! BBQ material!" Luffy cheered as Luna moved up to the deck the two were at, her eyes locked in a certain way.
Usopp began to freak out in the crow's nest, "What?! Shot?! I didn't hear any gun shots!"
Chopper pulled a bullet from one of the seagulls, "Look, a bullet! Judging from the angle of decent, it was fired from the direction in front of the ship!"
"Shooting from an island that we can't even see yet? Chopper that's impossible!" Nami told his looking in the same direction Luna was.
"But I was watching them!" Chopper argued. Luna chimed in as she watched the horizon.
"Not impossible Nami. We are currently looking for a sky island that we can't see. There is a devil fruit that can enhance a marksman's abilities."
Nami look in shock, "there is?"
Chopper jumped up, "I remember that one!"
Luna nodded, "it still has a max distance so... Usopp you should be seeing the island soon enough!"
