The Merry landed with a thud as the lobster released them, the light was blinding being this close to the sun. Luffy was the first to get a look at Skypiea.
"THERE IT IS! SKY ISLAND!"
Everyone stared in amazement, the clouds seem to form land masses that houses were built upon.
"Wait didn't the sign we pass say Skypiea?" Robin questioned. Nami let out a laugh, "yeah, that's the same name on the map that Luffy found."
Usopp and Chopper stared on dazzled by the island as Nami continued, "so I guess that galleon that fell on us really did come here! The last time they set eyes on this was 200 years ago, I'm amazed something like this has stayed beautiful for this long."
They docked on the shore, where the youngest couldn't wait to get off and explore. Luffy and Usopp were the first to jump off into the shallows commenting on how everything was made from clouds. Chopper joined the boys as they ran off to the beach. Nami disappeared into the girl's room to change, while Zoro yelled out to Luffy about the anchor.
The two boys blew off his worries, Chopper caught up with them, jumping them as they rough housed. Zoro walked over to the anchor with a grunt before dropping it.
"Well regardless with how the ground may feel, that is an amazing sight. Better than I imagined it." Zoro said looking out at Skypiea.
"It's a piece of work for sure but I think our shipmates are over acting. Bugs me when they get all worked up." Sanji said before jumping off the Merry with his weird giggle.
Zoro just sweatdropped, "when they get all worked up?"
Luna chuckled at her spot next to the swordsman, "let them enjoy it for now. We have a big fight coming up."
Zoro huffed in response, "the lightning guy right?"
Luna nodded as she as her eyes stayed on the others while they played and enjoyed the beach. "As well as several others. We just came from saving a country, allow them to act like kids while they can." She gave a sly eye to the swordsman, "wouldn't kill you to relax for once either."
Before Zoro could reply Nami came running out with the South Bird pecking at her head. Once he was outside he flew off as Nami clutched her sore head.
"We forgot about the South Bird. We really should have let him go, he'll never survive here."
Luna hopped off the railing landing next to Nami silently, "he'll be find. There are other South Birds up here."
"Yeah okay. Wait the anchor!"
Zoro cut in, "taken care of it hit the heavier cloud below which I think this place floats on."
Robin walked over to them, "that means that sky island floats on a sea of cloud cover. I wonder if it's stationary in the sky or if it moves with the tide."
Nami urged the remaining members to enjoy the island causing the older three watch as she jumped off board.
"This is why we came here you guys, welcome to sky island."
"The captain smells adventure. I never thought of this as an adventure."
Luna stopped next to Robin, "then be prepared for many adventures. That boy can't go a second without something becoming an adventure."
Luna watched as Chopper rolled back and forth between to cloud mounds, before being stopped by Nami when she saw the gazebo. Luffy was trying in vain to eat a hard melon, before throwing it at Usopp. Sanji found some flowers as he ran to give Luna and Robin one before rushing after Nami to give one to her. After Zoro finally left the ship he found a fox. The sound of a harp caught everyone's attention to a woman farther down the beach.
"That's an angel." Sanji stated.
"No, it's just a normal Skypiean woman. They all have those wings. I met a pirate with them before." Luna corrected.
"Suu come here," the woman called to the fox. "Did you come from the Blue Sea?"
"If that's what you call it. We sailed up a river of clouds to get here." Luffy answered. "Speaking of here is this your home?"
"Yes, it sure is, and I'd like to welcome you to Skypiea's Angel Beach." She saw the fruit Luffy was holding, "I'd bet you'd like to drink that. The top of a conache are hard as steel it's impossible to crack. So you have the cut through the underside like this." She cut the conache open, placing a straw in before handing it back to Luffy.
Luffy and Usopp drank happily from the fruit, while the woman picked up the fox.
"My name's Conis and this is Suu, a cloud fox." She introduced herself. "If there is any way that I can be of help, please let me know."
"Well, you see... your gaze is setting my heart on fire- OWWWWWW!" Sanji cried out when Nami pulled his ear, with a less than impressed look.
"Move it," she ordered. "There are lots of things that we'd like to know. To us, this place is full of mysteries."
"Please, ask me anything." As she said that her fox moved over to Luna. Jumping into the woman's arms Conis looked shocked, "oh Suu usually doesn't take to people so quickly."
Luna smiled at Conis as she pet the small fox, "animals tend to like me."
"Hey, something's coming." Zoro called out, pointing at a figure floating on the cloud sea.
"Oh, that's my father." Conis smiled.
"Conis, heso!" Called the man.
"Yes, heso, father!"
Luffy questioned the greeting not able to wrap his head around the saying, Luna quietly told him it was just their 'hello.'
"What's that thing that he's riding on?" Nami asked amazed by the piece of machinery the father was standing on.
"Are you talking about the waver?"
The old man seemed have lost control and crashed into a palm tree.
"I-is everyone alright?" the man asked standing up.
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO CRASHED!" Zoro cried out.
The man ignored the swordsman, "are they your friends, Conis?"
"Yes. We've just became acquainted, they said they came from the Blue Sea."
"I see. Then, there must be many things that you're puzzled about. I'm sorry, this place is the White-White Sea." The father explained.
"Oh, no need to apologize." Usopp dismissed.
"Excuse me for not introducing myself sooner, but my name is Pagaya. I'm sorry."
Luna sweatdropped as she put down the fox, "please stop apologizing. It's nice to meet you."
"Father, were you able to catch some fish?" Inquired Conis when she eyed the bag her father was holding.
"Yes, I had a large catch. Oh, why don't you all come to our house? I'll prepare dishes for you using the sky harvest."
"Are you sure?! Then, let's go, let's go!" Luffy cheered at the mention of food.
"Sky Island cuisine?!" Sanji said with a large smile. "Let me help you!"
"Before we go, can I ask a question? This boat doesn't have sail, and you weren't paddling either..." stated Nami, bending next to the engine. "How did you propel it on the sea?"
"You mean you're not familiar with dials?" Conis arched an eyebrow.
"What's a dial?" Luffy questioned as he continued drinking from the conache. The boy climbed onto the waver before shotting off unable to stop the machine, before capsizing.
Pagaya cried out how he shouldn't have let a rookie on the waver, while Luna and the others minus Chopper just stood there with bored expression.
"Since Luffy can't swim, I hope this sea is more buoyant then ours." Sanji stated.
"Maybe," Zoro grunted, "if it can stay floating in the air you're probably right. He can handle it."
Poor Chopper stared in shock over the callous comments of his crewmates as Luffy sank.
"Eh he sank," Sanji called out. "Eh not the first time I've been wrong."
Chopper run to dive into the White Sea before Luna caught him, "none of that. They're just kidding." She shot Sanji and Zoro a look and reluctantly Zoro went to fetch Luffy. Once back on shore Luffy panted heavily while Sanji and Zoro argued.
Pagaya quickly turned to the woman, "I apologize for letting him take the waver out. With its light body even a small wave can shake the rudder. Unless you know the white White Sea like the back of your hand, the waver is almost impossible to ride. Again I am sorry."
During his apology Nami had taken the waver and was happily gliding over the White Sea with easy, much to Luffy's jealousy.
Pagaya was quite shocked too, "this is her first time?"
Luna gave a small smirk, "if anyone was going to excell on the waver it would be Nami."
"NAMI WE'RE INVITED TO DINNER SO GET OFF THAT THING AND STOP BEING SO RUUUUDE!" Luna popped Luffy on the head.
"Stop yelling at her just cause you're jealous."
Nami yelled back asking if it would be alright for her to have some more time on the waver. After receiving permission the others turned to head to Pagaya and Conis's home.
Usopp and Chopper stared in amazement at the sights Pagaya explained the clouds while Luffy nodded a long like he knew what was being said. Luna blocked out the explanation about the clouds as she looked around enjoying the vast view.
They arrived at the Skypiean's home. Luna took a seat on the banister over looking the White White Sea as Sanji busied himself in the kitchen with Pagaya. Zoro was relaxing on the couch as the boys talked amongst themselves. Robin looked over at Conis.
"So, could you explain more about these dials you mentioned earlier?"
"Sure, but it's complex so I don't know exactly where to start."
Luna quickly tuned out the others, her main focus was on Nami knowing she was soon going to see the 'God's' power. Her mind raced with ways she could protect the crew from what's to come. She had already decided she would be amongst the one to be taken. Cursing herself silently for not starting the training about Haki earlier, but that couldn't be helped.
Sanji walked out on to the balcony with Luna after serving the food. Lighting his cigarette he blew out, "hey anyone know where Nami is?"
Before the others could reply Luna cut in, "she's fine I've been watching her for awhile and can sense her even though she's out of view."
Conis voiced her worry about Upper Yard. The other's continued to eat as they listened to Conis explained Upper Yard. Luna had to hold in a laugh when she said about it being 'God's' land. Enel is the furthest thing from a god.
"There's Acually A God?! And He Lives On An Island You're Not Allowed To Walk On?!" Luffy exclaimed as Usopp whimpered. Luna knew that tone in his voice, he wanted to go because he was told it was forbidden.
Luna ignored the discourse on 'God' knowing she would possibly offended Pagaya and Conis. Luffy, being told he wasn't allowed on Upper Yard, of course wanted to go.
Usopp was trying to get through to him but Luna interrupted looking to Conis, "you should have never said it was forbidden."
Robin turned to Conis, "tell me, I assume there are some dramatic and vicious consequences of entering the Upper Yard? Do you know what they are?"
"Yeah, I do."
"What are they?" Zoro inquired. Pagaya continued in his daughter's stead, "it is our belief that if anyone goes there you will not return alive."
Sanji stared at the man in shock his cigarette falling from his mouth, as Pagaya continues, "I must admit I'm worried about Nami as much as you are. I hope she hasn't sailed too close to the Upper Yard."
Sanji turned and began yelling for Nami while Luffy announced they were going to find Nami. Usopp quickly knew just what Luffy was doing and started to shake him while yelling. No one but Zoro noticed a white haired female leaving the house. Luna silently made her way down to the Merry.
She knew Nami would be seeing Enel's power any second, which means the White Berets would soon be here. As she boarded the Merry she was hit with a strong dizziness. Closing her eyes she grabbed her head, she tried taking several slow breaths as she felt a headache coming on. Standing back up straight she tried to think what caused this, but her head was spinning. Her thoughts were interrupted by the other's coming to the ship.
They talked about going to Upper Yard being impossible with no head wind. Zoro walked over to her as they quietly conversed, "you okay?"
"I think being up this high is effecting my body negatively."
Zoro stay quiet until they were interrupted by Luffy running off with the broken waver. After Luffy sank again Pagaya offered to fix the old waver.
Sometime passed as Pagaya looked over the waver, Usopp and Chopper were happily making cloud sculptures. Robin was on the Merry with Zoro and Luna, the for mentioned two had fallen asleep.
"Looks like we have company." Luffy called out noticing the White Berets. Luna and Zoro opened their eyes as Zoro stood before mumbling out to Luna, "stay on the ship."
Luna leaned against the railing stopping an eye roll at the men, they were crawling toward them. Luna listened as they tried to extort the others until Sanji implored the others to ignore them. Usopp tried to reason with Luffy and encouraged the others to wait for Nami. The captain of the White Berets' was annoyed about the 'whispering' and questioned where their eighth member was, accusing them of another crime. Luna held her tongue knowing she wouldn't be able to fight currently.
Usopp quickly stepped in trying to soothe the man's accusations. Luna stayed on the ship while the others occupied themselves waiting for Nami, but it wasn't long before the captain of the White Berets began pissing off their own captain.
It wasn't long before the tension of the two groups was reaching a boiling point. Luna watched on disgusted by the blatant corruption the White Berets was displaying. Luckily she felt Nami coming, the red head called out catching the other's attention. Usopp yelled out the price Nami needed to pay, which triggered the red head as she sped up her waver crashing it into the Captain's head. Luna had to hold back a snort at the display, Nami quickly urged to the others about leaving.
Conis explained about the drifting cloud sentence until Luna cut in, "it's what must have happened to the other ship."
The other quickly pieced together what she meant.
"We Die?!?" The cowardly three cried.
Conis was starting her break down that no one else took notice too, besides a certain white head. Nami tried to explain her way out of the 'accident' before Pagaya encouraged them to get the captain medical attention. The crew was placed under preliminary arrest as they took their captain to be treated. Conis yelled at them to leave before running after her father, Luna's darkened eyes following her. She knew it wasn't Conis fault, the Berets were going to threaten her father, but it still didn't change that she will betray them.
Nami explained what she saw while Luffy got excited. The Merry was ready but Luffy refused to leave. Nami was trying to convince him.
"But we're already in trouble." Luffy said looking behind Nami.
Nami turned to see what he was looking at, the White Berets returned. Conis cried for them to run only to be threatened by the Berets. Luffy told Nami to run as they fired their arrows at them. Luffy dodged only to land on the trail of cloud the arrows left behind. It quickly became apparent why they were fired as they skated towards Luffy only exciting the boy more.
The Sky people were shocked by Luffy's devil fruit as the boy enployed a new move. Sanji and Zoro finished the others off, Nami yelled out how much money they had only to find out they were no where near the amount. Luna cursed softly knowing even she didn't have the amount needed. The Captain laughed at them bragging that the Priest of Upper Yard would now judge them.
After the White Berets left Conis and Pagaya distanced themselves from the rest of the crew, claiming they could no longer help them being second degree criminals. Luna joined everyone on the shore finally feeling steady enough, while Luffy complained about Nami coming back.
Nami irritatingly proceeded to hit Luffy in the forehead repeatedly. Chopper ran and clung to Luna's leg while watching the argument between the two. Luffy tried to convince her to stay while they went but that was quickly shut down as she reminded him they were criminals. Luffy stretched his neck out to her claiming the adventure was always more important.
Nami claimed her priorities was life first than money. Sanji zoomed over asking if he was third only to be punched in the face by the red head. Usopp pointed out how they were so focused on coming up but not figuring a way back down. Pagaya and Conis decided to walk over once again.
"Is there a safe way back to the Blue Sea world?! Can we ever even go home again?!" The sharpshooter cried to the two locals.
Conis looked distraught, "there is a way but at this juncture I'm afraid it's not safe. Your only hope for escape is to make your way to cloud end. From there you can travel home."
Usopp looked confused, "what's cloud end? And how are we supposed to get there?"
"It's a region that lies far to the east, the only way for you to get there is to travel across the White White Sea."
Usopp was happy to have a plan to get home, but Luffy cut in, "but I don't want to go home!"
Usopp and Nami tagged up against him, "the only other option is to stay and get sentenced to death."
"Listen to me! I don't want you causing anymore trouble to Conis and her dad."
Conis stepped in, "No don't worry about us."
Nami ignore her and continued, "even if we leave right now there's no guarantee we'll make a clean escape. We don't have anytime to lose, so just get on the ship. You'll have your big adventure, I promise but right now we need to get going. So come on everybody let's set sail."
Everyone moved towards the Merry, before Luffy went back wanting the left overs from their earlier lunch. Pagaya couldn't say no, so Sanji, Luffy, and Usopp went back with them.
Nami yelled after them while the other four went to ready the Merry.
