A/N: Partners in Crime and Everybody Wants to be My Enemy aren't quite ready yet.

As ever, I own no references, themes or memes!

Now then, with that said...awaaaay we go~!

Again, this is merely a fragment.

Story? Yes? No?

"Way I see it, any man can be a parent. It takes a real patient man to be a Father.

Come to think of it, it also takes a real strong woman to be a Mother, too.

We may not be the best of parents, but she's scarier than me."

"What was that, husband of mine?

"Ouch! Not the ear!"

Fifth Fragment

They hit without warning.

One moment Naruto was crossing the threshold, heaving a sigh. His mind was frazzled, his shoulders heavy, knuckles sore from a long day at work. He wanted nothing more than to sink into a chair, kick up his feet and close his eyes. His mind was distant. Distracted. Blind to the threat that was coming. Ignorant to his approaching doom and all the pain that came with it.

In the next...?

"Welcome back, old man!"

"Oi!" Naruto grunted as Vi leaped down the stairs and slammed onto his shoulders. "Don't call me that!" he caught the little girl by the leg and dangled her in the air before his face, drawing a giggle from his ward. With the other he reached out and flicked her forehead. "Makin' me feel old...

Vi grinned at him nonetheless as he set her down. Cheeky little scamp. Wait, where was...?

Someone tugged at his leg. Ah. There she was. Sneaky girl.

Powder tugged at his leg. "But you are old, daddy...?"

...such cruel daughters I have."

Vi grinned. "Mom says we're nice~!"

"Well! Your mother ain't from this world and neither am I." He drew them both into a brisk hug. "Now go wash up for dinner, or Hinata's gonna have my hide...

A shadow fell over him.

"What was that, husband of mine?"

Naruto blew out a sigh. "Hey, sweetie. Did you miss me?"

Her smile was warm as lava glow, but her eyes promised something else. A warm feeling bloomed in his chest.

"Go wash up girls." she nudged Vi and Powder toward the kitchen. "Dinner's nearly ready. But first I need to have a word with your...father. Upstairs."

Powder tilted her head. "Why upstairs?"

Hinata tugged him away, humming.

"I'll tell you when you're older...

A/N: Points for you if ya figure out WHICH version of Naruto and Hinata this is. I wasn't being subtle.

Yup. Just did that.

Little!Vi and Little!Powder adopted by yours truly. Boruto and Himawari never came to be in this tale...and like any mother...Hinata's strong as all hell.

Just another little tidbit I'm working on.

As ever, reviews keep this old man alive during this dark and crazy time. I ain't joking.

"Is that a grenade?"

"Yup." he pulled the pin. "Nice knowing ya."

"Why you cheeky LITTLE-

"Marry me."

Naruto spat out his drink.

"You were waiting for that, weren't you...?

Viktor held up the orb in his hand, considering as a child might a new toy. Blue light danced in his eyes.

"What do you call it?"

Naruto's smile was nothing short of smug. "Chakra."
