A/N:Ahhhh...I'm tired.

Life's been kicking my ass lately, and now my computer's being stupid. Siiiiiiigh.

Getting ready to update big stories soon, but I just want able to swing it today thanks to an early shift.

So today's a plot bin day; for this, and other stories. I whipped up four last night in an hour or so. I repeat, I should have the big guns ready pretty damn soon.

As ever we're still sticking to the "Embers" rule here, folks. If folks don't like this...well, I won't continue something no one likes. Every review, every comment, no matter how large or small, keeps me writing in spite of my busy work schedule. I don't get days off anymore, so I try to respond when I can, but lately it feels like this has become a job in and of itself; albeit one I don't get paid for, one that it is often thankless...

As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes or memes! Now then, with that said...awaaaay we go~!

Again, this is merely a fragment out of time...

Something that was never made.

"...huh. She doesn't look half bad."

Tenth Fragment

"Its a girl!"

Jinx resisted the urge to roll her eyes and smile as Naruto leaned over her shoulder. Less so the latter as he cooed at the bundle in her arms. She usually didn't like people getting too close. He was the exception. Always would be. Even if he wasn't focused on her for once, that was fine, because again, just this once, he had something else to focus on.

And a good thing he did, because blast it, this baby was loud!

Bright red eyes squinted up at them, framed in a little pink squalling face. A messy tuft of green hair hung from her head, still damp from birth. Green hair, huh? Well, he did have golden hair, and hers was blue...but red eyes? That was new. Might have something to do with that fox of hs...

"Take her, will you?" She sank back, gasping a little. "I'm exhausted... she's and got a healthy pair of lungs."

He did so without hesitation. At least he was good with kids, unlike Vi.

Oh gods, Vi. She tried not to think about her sister, about how it had all gone wrong. Not just with her, but everyone else...

"There, there," his voice plucked her out of the past. "I've got you..

As she listened, the little one quieted.

...we never did think of a name."

"You do it." she laid one arm over her eyes and looked away. "I'm shit at names.

She was good at fighting, breaking shit, causing explosions. Names...names weren't her thing. She'd probably name the kid Sparky or something. Motherhood was f***ing hard, damnit. Carrying the kiddo for nine months had been hell enough, but there was a part of her that was terrified to hold her at all, for fear of breaking her, as she'd broken everything else.

"Tomoe?"

Jinx creaked an eye open. "Who?"

"From my history books. She was an amazing warrior and I'm sure our daughter will be, too. She's perfect." He turned a beaming smile on her, "Just like her. All of this is. Its perfect. I couldn't ask for anything more."

Jinx smiled into her pillow. Perfect, he'd said. Ha!

She knew nothing was, not really. They were an awful mess, the two of them, now three. They had few allies and plenty of enemies. Half city wanted her dead after she'd blown their precious council to kingdom come and the other half wanted them to lead the revolution and rule the damn place. Well screw them. They didn't matter right now. This mattered. Their daughter mattered.

"Go on. She's calm, now." Naruto nudged little Tomoe into her arms. She took her with great care.

Her daughter cooed hungrily and nestled against her breast to drink.

Jinx held to her, unable to contain the smile that followed.

...after all, he'd said the words. Ha. Perfect, eh?

Yeah, she liked the sound of that.

Perfect indeed.

A/N: Aaaand scene.

Hope it made you smile.

Weeeell? Did you like it? Yay or nay?

A fragment, something that may or may not come to be.

As ever, reviews keep this old man alive during this dark and crazy time. I ain't joking.

Seriously, we're all locked away in isolation or worse these days, words are all that sustains me.

So in the Immortal Words of Atlas... Review...Would You Kindly?

Still no previews this time. Too depressed.

Feel's like the world's gone crazy.

R&R~!
