A/N: Well, One with Spirits really didn't get the feedback I was hoping for...T_T
Warning. This one's got an edge to it.
I really don't feel right. Is this what depression feels like? Or is it apathy? Not sure. I'm swinging between that and anger, getting annoyed by the strangest things.
Either way, I feel...off. Been feeling out of it these past few days.
Really, I WANTED to update "Edge" today, but that would've meant a rushed chapter and 2k less words. Also wanted to finish "Berserker" and "Caster" today, but that didn't work out either. I'll figure out something later. Not sure right now. Just wanna sleep, but I sodding CAN'T because of work.
Gotta to find something to perk me up soon, I don't like feeling this way...T_T
As ever we're still sticking to the "Embers" rule here, folks. If folks don't like this...well, I won't continue something no one likes. Every review, every comment, no matter how large or small, keeps me writing in spite of my busy work schedule. I don't get days off anymore, so I try to respond when I can, but lately it feels like this has become a job in and of itself; albeit one I don't get paid for, one that it is often thankless...
As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes or memes! Now then, with that said...awaaaay we go~!
Again, this is merely a fragment out of time...
Something that was never made.
"We all make our own choices, sooner or later
I've made mine. I'll live with it."
...we shall see."

Eleventh Fragment
"Today's the day you die, Silco."
Yes, the gun to the back of his head would certainly attested to that. It didn't waver. His killer was firm in their convictions. Really, it wouldn't even be a bad death. He die before he felt any pain. He simply hadn't thought it would come this soon. Least of all from one he trusted. A shame, really. He'd nurtured the boy. Raised him since he was but a babe. And now, so many years later...
.
..
...here they were.
"That's a risk I've know all my life." he raised his glass and took a long drink. Quite possibly his last. "But I still believe in-
"Loyalty?" a bitter laugh filled his office. "I was loyal! Sevika, too! We all were! And were did it get us?! The underground burning, an army at our doorstep, enforcers beating down the doors, and for what?!"
"For Zaun." his old heart didn't waver, even now. "You know, Naruto. I never lied to you about that."
"You lied about everything else!" he felt the click of a hammer drawn back, reverberating through his skull. "You said no one would die! Vander, Mylo, Claggor...!
And he regretted every falsehood. At least Jinx was in a better place now, and Vi with her. Far, far, far away from this madness. "They made their choice."
He physically felt that finger curl around the trigger. "And I've made mine."
Silco sighed. "You have, haven't you? I hope it brings you peace."
An anguished noise swelled in his ears...
.
..
...he didn't fire.
Silco sighed. "You're trembling, boy."
"Quiet, you! I'm not listening to you anymore!
Poor lad. Even now, he needed a nudge. He'd give him one.
The mogul reached backward with his good hand. Up and around. Heard the boy protest.
"For what its worth...I'm proud of you." He gave his hand a comforting pat, not once looking his way. "Lead them well."
It was the straw that broke the camel's back. The pistol barked.
Silco's head hit the desk. He didn't even feel it.
Darkness swept in.
A/N: Aaaand scene.
Weeeell? Did you like it? Yay or nay?
A fragment, something that may or may not come to be.
As ever, reviews keep this old man alive during this dark and crazy time. I ain't joking.
Seriously, we're all locked away in isolation or worse these days, words are all that sustains me.
So in the Immortal Words of Atlas... Review...Would You Kindly?
Still no previews this time. Too depressed.
Feel's like the world's gone crazy.
R&R~!
