A/N: Still sick, sorry.

In other news...
As my fifteen year anniversary on this site draws near, I find myself reflecting on the little things in life. What was once a lazy pastime meant for me and a few friends really grew and evolved over time. There are days when I look back on the last fifteen years here and I wonder if anyone will remember me; if I made an impact, despite never making a single cent on any of these stories. Some days were happier than others, and some stories I enjoyed writing WAY too much; to the point where I'd stay up all night working on them.
And of course, there are times when I look to the future and wonder what will become of things when I'm gone.
Of course, I try not to dwell on the latter overmuch; I'm still alive and still writing. In an ideal world, I'd like to keep doing so for as long as I can. But old age is catching up to me and these days, the world is filled with so much madness and death. The recent earthquake in Turkey/Syria serves as a terrible example. Even before that, so many friends and fellow writers I once knew are gone, now. Will I still be here in twenty years? Ten? Five? Its a chilling thought. But for now, I'm still here, still writing.
This is a rough draft. Time and feedback will determine if this becomes a story.
In other words...its up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!
This idea came to me in a dream. Here we go!
To be clear, this is a variation of a certain scene in Volume Three. You all know the one.
"They grow up so fast, don't they?"
~A grandfather.
Eyes of Fire
"Grandpaaaaaa!"
Naruto had half an instant to brace himself; plant his feet and strengthen his stance. Then they were upon him.
Yes, they. As in plural.
Ruby reached him first, semblance flaring as she descended upon him in a scarlet streak, then latching onto his right arm for dear life. He raised it to get a better look at her, and she grinned at him as she dangled from his limb, silver eyes sparkling just like her mother's. The sight sent a sharp stab through his heart, one he quickly quelled. She was growing up so fast. Summer really didn't check in on her daughter often enough these days. Neither did Raven, come to think of it. He'd need to have words with them about that.
"Hi!" his grandaughter chirruped. "Did you miss me? Did you?!"
"Sure did." he butted his head against hers.
Yang was on him a moment later. She went straight for his torso. Her head hit his chest as she squeezed him for all she was worth.
"You were amazing!" she grinned up at him, lilac eyes sparkling. "You and General Ironwood were all whoosh, kablam, pow! You beat his ass! Why didn't you tell me you could fight like that?!"
He quirked a greying blond brow her way and tousled her hair with his fre hand. "You never asked, firecracker."
She groaned. "Ugggh, you and Uncle Qrow with that nickname...
"What can I say, it sticks." he looked past her, spying a shock of white hair. "And is that another Schnee I see?"
Weiss froze, recovered, an sketched a quick curtsy. "H-Hello, grandfather. How was your vacation Vacuo?"
"Hot and sandy-hey!" he scowled. "None of that, you! I've still got a free arm! Get in here!" A golden arm caught her and reeled the surly girl into the embrace, even as his eyes scoured the crowd. He found his next target trying to slink away while he was distracted. "And I see you skulking over there, Blake!"
She froze. "I can explain-meep!
In short order he had her caught, dangling her by the scruff of her neck like the naughty kitten she was.
"Do you have any idea how worried your folks are?!" he gave her a shake. "Kali's been calling me all month! Your mother is worried sick, you skittish little cat...
"Nevermind that!" Ruby yanked on his arm. "The Vytal Festival starts nest week! You gotta train me!
"Us." Yang coughed into a fist. "You meant us."
"Totally what I said, sis."
"Riiiiiight...
A/N: Hoped you enjoyed this!
Its heavily implied that Naruto's everyone's grandfather in this story, aka Nicholas Schnee.
Strangely enough, it fits when you look into Nicholas' backstory. They're a lot alike.
Aaaand there we go. Hope you enjoyed it.
Soooo? Should this be a story? Once again! This is an AU.
Hoe someone, somewhere, enjoyed this. I just don't know anymore these days.
So...in the Immortal Words of Atlas...Review...Would You Kindly?
Hope you enjoy the previews~!
(Previews!)
"To what do we owe the visit?"
"Just checking in on the runts, Ozpin.
"Ahem."
Summer looked up. "I missed Ruby's birthday, didn't I?"
"Yes, Yes you did. Several birthdays, in fact. Is Ozpin really running you this ragged?"
"Found the sword, did you, dad?"
Naruto tapped the relic at his waist. "Coerced the Maiden into opening the vault. Thought
Taiyang laughed and clinked his glass against his. "I'll drink to that. You staying for the Vytal festival?"
"Sure am. Might need to head back to Atlas for a bit after. Make sure Jacques is still behaving himself these days...
"If you were one of mine, I would've tanned your hide long ago. Unfortunately, you're not." he raised a hand. Wind gathered within. "Time to die."
"Raven Branwen! You make up with your daughter right now or so help me I will SPANK YOU RAW in front of your entire tribe!"
The Spring Maiden sputtered. "You wouldn't dare!"
Naruto tapped his foot. "Wanna try me?"
R&R~!
