A/N: ...this is a test.
If folks enjoy it, this'll become a story.
Someone made another request. Here we are...with a twist.
You see, I vaguely recall the old Sonic Archie comics from way back when. They were pretty good, even had a few during my younger days before I started moving around. Shame they got cancelled way back when, but I hadn't given it much thought in a long time.
Until this request came in. They were quite descriptive with that they wanted. I decided to give it a go and see what folks thought of it. So here we are.
With my fifteen year anniversary on this site here, I find myself reflecting on the little things in life. What was once a lazy pastime meant for me and a few friends really grew and evolved over time. There are days when I look back on the last fifteen years here and I wonder if anyone will remember me; if I made an impact, despite never making a single cent on any of these stories. Some days were happier than others, and some stories I enjoyed writing WAY too much; to the point where I'd stay up all night working on them.
And of course, there are times when I look to the future and wonder what will become of things when I'm gone.
Of course, I try not to dwell on the latter overmuch; I'm still alive and still writing. In an ideal world, I'd like to keep doing so for as long as I can. But old age is catching up to me and these days, the world is filled with so much madness and death. The recent earthquake in Turkey/Syria serves as a terrible example. Even before that, so many friends and fellow writers I once knew are gone, now. Will I still be here in twenty years? Ten? Five? Its a chilling thought. But for now, I'm still here, still writing.
As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes, or memes. Not a wit or a single one!
They're tributes to legends far, far, faaaaaaaar greater than I.
Time and feedback will determine if this remains a story. Simple as that.
In other words...its up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!
Hope you enjoy~!
"You've hit your limit, Naruto. Its over."
"...limit...?"
~?
Limit
"You can't win this battle, Naruto."
A blade opened his friend's chest, spraying blood.
"You can't." Sasuke hardened his heart to the sight. "You're outmatched. Outclassed in both speed and strength."
His dearest friend surged upright with a roar. He lost an arm for it, lopped off at the elbow. Still he kept fighting. It would kill him this time. And then the world would know peace. Even now, Naruto wanted to save him. He thought he could be saved, that he should be saved; that he deserved some semblance of peace despite all his sin.
.
..
...it was a tender sentiment, but not enough.
He could not be saved. He did not want to be. And so he struck him down.
"The only reason you can even take such punishment is due to Kurama and all the chakra from those Tailed Beasts."
Naruto's punch crashed into his face. Not strong enough. He ran him through. Cold steel tore through his stomach and burst out the blond's back. His gasp hurt more than words.
"But they're running on empty." he drawled sadly. "And so are you."
He tore the blade free and left him to bleed at his feet.
Naruto tried to struggle upright. "Not...yet...
Yes, yet. It was over.
"I've known you most of your life, Naruto." he raised the blade over his head, prepared to stab down and end his life. "This brings me no joy."
He stabbed down quickly. It was the least his only friend deserved. A quick end.
"Goodbye, my friend."
Bloody fingers caught the blade.
Sasuke forbore to sigh. Even now he resisted.
The blade slid through his fingers, inching ever closer.
"I said enough!" A rare spark of anger pushed through his impassive facade. "You've reached your limit!"
A low growl was his answer.
Was it a gasp, perhaps?
Maybe a sob?
...limit?"
"Yes, exactly that." he replied. "Do you realize it now?"
"Limit." His friend didn't seem to hear him. "Limit?" He punched a fist down, cratering the ground beneath him. "LIMIT?!"
A new arm burst from the stump of his old one, pink and freshly healed. How?! He shouldn't be able to do that!
Sasuke grit his teeth and stabbed down at his head.
Steel struck stone with a harsh clang.
Naruto was no longer there.
His blade, meanwhile, shattered on the ground. One of the shards flashed upward, slashing across his cheek. He winced, closing eyes for a moment -for just a second really- and in that instant he felt a visceral rush of cold wind rush past. He whirled to intercept it, too late.
Where had he gone?!
The jinchuuriki didn't blur.
Blurring implied he could see what followed. And he didn't not really.
A streak of gold-on-crimson light seared across the horizon, tearing the Valley of the End in half. The twin statues of Madara and Hashirama crumbled like so much glass, the waterfall between them dried up like a barren desert. The ground trembled and split apart. A great gaping canyon formed underfoot. Sasuke leaped back to safety, lest he be swallowed whole by the sudden calamity he'd unleashed. It wasn't just here, he could feel the world breaking, crumbling around him as the fires burst from the newly-formed abyss to scorch the sky.
"What did you do?!"
The moment Sasuke's feet touched solid ground, three things transpired.
He heard.
And he saw.
In seeing, he understood.
"I've got your limit RIGHT HERE!"
Naruto was on him in an instant, howling at the top of his lungs, mad with rage.
Sasuke had time enough to blink. Enough to see clenched knuckles fill his vision. And there beyond them...
The blond's entire body had gone golden once more, but this was different, a far cry from the powerful chakra cloak he had once utilized. It was greater. Far greater. He couldn't see his face, or any of him, just the vague outline of a human being. He was so bright. Brighter than the sun itself. His eyes burned just looking at him. Merely standing in his presence caused his skin to char and blacken.
He couldn't breathe...!
How?! Had he absorbed Kurama and the dregs of the other Biju? He couldn't feel them anymore. But if Naruto had taken them, if he had all that power locked in the body of an Uzumaki which were frankly bullshit to begin with, then would make him more than a jinchuuriki. Much more. He'd be like Kaguya, no, more than that...
.
..
...and he'd unleashed him.
A god was born and the world burned.
He comprehended all this horror in an instant.
Less than a single solitary second to form two words.
"...I've blundered."
Indeed he had. Immeasurably.
Naruto struck him like a falling star.
By comparison, death was so swift Sasuke scarcely noticed it. His body had long since ceased to feel pain.
A single punch took the Uchiha's head clean off at the shoulders.
The rest of him evaporated outright.
And there was only Light.
A/N: Congratulations Sasuke, you just accidentally created A God of Light.
I say "A" rather than "The" because the requester was quite specific. Naruto as the actual God of Light, not the one that came from the Tree.
We'll see if this becomes a thing. Depends entirely on fan feedback *shrugs*
But where oh where is the God of Darkness...?
Aaaand there we go. Hope you enjoyed this little tease. Soooo? Should this be a story? Once again! This is an AU.
Hope someone, somewhere, enjoyed this. I just don't know anymore these days. Its terribly hard to tell...
So...in the Immortal Words of Atlas...Review...Would You Kindly? Let me know what you think!
Preview are the same, because this just might become a story...
...but of course, that depends on feedback.
Hope you enjoy 'em~!
(Previews!)
Creating life was surprisingly...enjoyable.
He took great joy in it, making a new world. It took several tries. Creating people to populate said world took yet more time, but he enjoyed the experiment.
On a whim, he named it Remnant, in honor of the world he'd accidentally destroyed with his "Birth". Godhood had dimmed his emotions somewhat, but not his memories. Those he held fondly in his heart, with his name even after his ascension. He was a being of Light, but he was also Naruto. That, he would never forget. Must never forget.
Still, civilization wasn't something he could just will into existence. But with creation must also come destruction.
"Maybe I should create a Brother...
Yes, he liked the sound of that.
It so was lonely here.
"You want your husband back? Sure, here you go. Take better care of him next time. What's that? You're afraid of dying? Here, I'll make you immortal."
Taking a nap now. Wake me in a few thousand years. Don't leave the stove on.
"What did you two do!? I took a nap and I wake up to this?!
R&R~!
