Chapter 2- a hasty evacuation and Quaoar and Siveth are born

Back in the medical building, Leia, Shiro and Branco continued their discussion.

"We're considering moving to another domain once our cubs are born," said Branco, "Maybe the Sky Domain or even the Narnian Moon? The Cardinal Kingdom Domain might be the best option."

"Yes, considering the fact that the Telmarine threat is increasing based on more and more reports of sightings of them," said Leia, "And many of the victims that had disappeared when they went to meet them had been Magical Foxes."

"The population of Magical Foxes has dramatically decreased due to their migration to other domains, largely because of the chaos the Pevensies' leaving had brought but partly because of the gradually encroaching Telmarines," said Shiro, "However, it is important that few of the Foxes stay behind to be Chroniclers of this area's events. The Chronicler role can be delegated to other long-living creatures like Fauns, Centaurs, Bakeneko and Nekomata (which can live up to 200 years) or even an Elemental Bird but it would not be very efficient. Kitsune and Kumiho, because they have the potential to live for up to even 1000 years, are more suited."

"Yes, but if the rumours that those Telmarine humans despise us and are out hunting us down are true," said Branco, "And if our village were to come under attack from an army of them, we, especially our cubs, could be under threat."

Shiro just exhaled at this fact. Back with the watchers, the Curupira with his telescope-like magnifier continued examining the surrounds of Goldleaf Village. He turned his instrument to a small thicket when he spotted something lurking through the trunks. It appeared to be some sort of creature mounted on something else. The thing stood there for a while before leaving but the Curupira immediately recognised the thing based on its shape. It had been a bipedal creature riding a hulking four-legged mount. The conclusion of the identity of the biped and the mount flaring in his mind, the Curupira watcher immediately called for a nearby Talking Robin and Talking Swift who had also been watching.

"Send this message to Shiro immediately, you two," the reverse-footed Humanoid commanded, "While I gather some armed guards to prepare and intercept those possible humans on horses."

The Robin and the Swift obediently took to the air flew into the village with the Curupira left to gather some guards, his hand seizing a spear made from a stick as he hurried off.

Back once again in the medical building, Shiro and Branco had finished their conversation with Leia and, at the Cipactli nurse Sushi's request that the Kitsune Vixen must be prepared for the imminent birth of the twin cubs, they left for outside. However, as the pair exited the building, they were met with the Robin and the Swift.

"Shiro, possible Telmarine alert," said the first one, the red breasted songbird, "One of the Curupira watchers has seen one through the thicket."

"Alright, you go and pass on the message to the soldiers and command them to go out and intercept those humans before they could even approach and threaten the village," said Shiro. However, as he continued to talk, something HORRIBLE happened. A SWOOSH tore the air apart, followed by screams of terror and horror. Then a MASSIVE crash exploded as whatever flew through the air smashed into something, followed by the collapse of whatever was struck. Immediately, Branco, Shiro, the Robin and the Swift darted from the entrance to the medical building and to their UTMOST horror, they saw a disaster scene.

Several buildings intended to be a refuge for some rare Talking Beast species were falling like a landslide and Shiro thought he saw a massive hole in the upper parts of the building as it fell. The inhabitants of the building, among them the rare species Talking Beasts, poured out of the doors and windows as the building continued to crumble, screams exploding from their beaks and mouths. However, some of the evacuating inhabitants ended up trapped and crushed by the falling debris. While this happened, a Talking Monkey darted to Shiro.

"A boulder just flew in out of NOWHERE," the shaken Primate cried, somehow still able to speak despite the shock of the scene, "and it smashed right into that building meant for the rare Talking Animals like the Spix macaw and the Okuri-Inu."

Shiro opened his mouth to speak but before he could get a single word out of his Reptilian-Horse like Muzzle, another WHOOSH slashed at the air. Shiro, together with the Monkey and a VERY horrified Branco looked up to the sky and to their UTMOST horror, they saw a large grey stone fly in like a rocket and crash right into a windmill, destroying it and forcing the workers in this building to quickly evacuate. The windmill collapsed right on top of the Silver Spider farm though the farmers of the area had managed to escape unscathed. Some of the Poggles had managed to rescue the precious queen spider and some of the stock before the nests was destroyed by the falling windmill pieces while more villagers screamed and ran for cover to escape the falling debris. Outrage flared within the silver and white Kirin leader.

"Who in NARNIA would bombard OUR village with BOULDERS!?" he demanded while Branco shot a look back at the medical building, worries for his pregnant wife and soon-to-be-born cubs flaring within him. However, before he could go and enter the building to check on his Kitsune wife, a Griffin flew in with a sheet of paper. He was one of the soldiers that had gone to intercept the intruding humans early and had been handed that sheet of paper.

"Shiro, the Telmarine army has a message for you," said the Lion-Bird and with that, he passed on the paper to the Kirin to read. Shiro took the paper, put it on the floor under his hoof and read it. Branco also gazed at the paper. The message read:

The commander of the Telmarine army demands to meet with the leader of this village face to face. He is to come alone with no-one to accompany him. Refusal is NOT an option.

Shiro gazed at the Griffin, the Monkey and the other Talking Beasts present before he turned his gaze to the Kumiho and said, "Come with me, Branco."

Branco, not knowing why Shiro said this, obediently followed as the Kirin turned and headed for the exit of the village. As he left, he commanded a medic Platypus nearby to attach a life sign tracking device to his neck which will serve as a tracker for when he went out to meet the army outside. The Platypus obediently did so and attached said device to the Kirin's neck, hiding it in the hairs of his mane to disguise it. As she did this, a Stegosaur and an Onikuma or Magical Bear pulled out a flat screen which was the receiver to the tracker. The receiver kept record of the tracker wearer's life signs such as heartbeat and was used as an indicator of the wearer's vital signs such as when the wearer went into a cave to rescue trapped victims or to confront a foe threatening a town as in Shiro's case. If the screen went red and beeped loudly, it indicated to the watchers that the wearer had died. This done, the Platypus returned to her group and Shiro continued to lead Branco to the exit while the medical group began to watch Shiro's life signs.

As the Kirin and the white Nine-Tailed Fox walked along, Shiro told Branco, "If my life sign tracker's receiver held by Peony the Platypus and her team goes red and beeps loudly during my confrontation with the Telmarine army outside, you MUST evacuate the village IMMEDIATELY, especially the critically endangered species members such as the Spix macaws, the Pandas and the Okuri-Inu, is that clear?"

"Perfectly," replied Branco. They soon came to the exit and Shiro turned one last time to the Kumiho. There was a look of dread in the Kirin's eyes.

"I have a bad feeling about that army and their possible intentions, especially based on how they launched those two boulders at our village. And if they DO rush in to attack the village during the evacuation, have the most powerful creatures hold them off with their powers and weapons until the entire village is evacuated. Understood, Branco?"

"Perfectly, my leader," said Branco.

"You're leader of the village now, Branco," Shiro said firmly to Branco's surprise. Branco looked on in dismay but Shiro urged him to return to the village and prepare for evacuation as their new leader. The Kirin sensed that he will not return alive and after giving Branco a firm command, the Kumiho obeyed and returned to the village while the Kirin continued his journey to the Telmarine army waiting outside.

Shiro continued walking away from his village in the direction of the awaiting army and as he did so, he was ambushed and seized by two Telmarine men dressed in their distinctive armour, bound and lead like a dumb horse for the rest of the way. However, Shiro allowed himself to be treated this way with absolutely NO resistance. As an Aslan believer and follower, he was doing this for the sake of his village and was doing what every noble leader did, laying down his life for them. Back in the village, Peony the Platypus and her team continued watching the receiver from Shiro's life sign tracker, Branco looking worriedly on. Shiro continued walking with the two Telmarine soldiers into the thicket until finally; he met the army hiding in the trees. The army was made up of more humans dressed in armour like the two leading him and they were armed with a variety of weapons such as shields, spears and swords. However, these weapons were primitive compared to some of the weapons some species in Narnia wielded, such as those living on the Narnian Moon. For example, their swords were made of a burning energy projected from a stick and were called 'phaser swords'.

Most of the men were on horseback while the remaining were stood. As soon as he was brought before their leader, Shiro took in the army's size, weapons and saw several tall items made of wood rising out of the sea of humans and horses (of the dumb sort). However, he could not get a clear view of these objects (which were weapons used to fling massive projectiles like boulders, like catapults and trebuchets) so he resumed his focus on the leader, the commander of the army, who came forward to interrogate him.

"Does your village have ANY Foxes with more than one tail livin' within, scaly Horse?" the leader, also on horseback, growled in an intimidating and demanding voice that sounded like a predatory animal snarling. His accent sounded somewhat strange for the Telmarines had a unique accent of their own, "Several such creatures have caused recent serious trouble for our nation lately with one of the worst incidences being the near assassination of our king and his family."

"What right does the Telmarines have in attacking a peaceful and innocent village that has NOT done ANY wrong whatsoever against them?" Shiro calmly and firmly asked. The commander then nodded to one of his higher ranking officials and that official came forward and brandished a rolled up piece of paper. He then unfurled it and showed Shiro a picture of a Fox.

"Are you familiar with a Fox by the name of Kurama?" asked the commander.

"I've never heard of a Fox with that name," said Shiro, "And as for the multi-tailed Foxes living in my village, ALL of them are peaceful Talking Beasts who are loyal to the Great Lion King Aslan who would NEVER cause ANY trouble for anyone."

Mocking sniggers escaped from the Telmarine commander and his officials before Shiro continued despite being offended by this, "And besides that, we have dealt with any evil Magical Fox (called Nogitsune) remaining in our country since the White Witch's vanquishing 76 years ago, alongside with pretty much all traces of her other followers including the Cartoon Shadow Cat, the Man with the Upside Down Face and Dimitrescu Dokuringu the Scarlet Fox-Witch. Either they have been put to death or have fled our country, and haven't been seen or heard from since," then confusion hit the Kirin, "Have you faced trouble from any Magical Fox at all?"

Silence then fell on the Telmarine army and Shiro looked on without speaking any further. But what happened next ignited an explosion. The commander's hand reached for a stick with a metallic point attached to its end, a spear and held it. Then the commander glared hostilely at Shiro and with a MASSIVE snarl, he charged forward on his horse and ran the Kirin through the chest with it. The moment that happened, back in the village, the receiver to Shiro's life sign tracker held by the Platypus medic, Peony and her group, flared red and emitted a MASSIVE long beep, indicating one thing. Peony shot Branco nearby a look of confirmation.

"The Telmarines have taken Shiro's life, Branco," the strange Monotreme cried out. Immediately Branco scrambled to carry out Shiro's orders as that was the signal, just as Shiro commanded him to do. Then within moments, another boulder flew from the Telmarine army hiding in the thicket, having been fired by one of their catapults (the things Shiro saw in the army before the commander killed him), careened towards another tall building, this time a gathering place where the villagers gathered to worship Aslan and hear his word preached (like a church), and smashed into it. Numerous villagers scrambled to escape the falling debris of the gathering place and gathered anything precious on the go, among them Aslan's written word which was the history of Narnia and his laws, before the falling pieces of building buried them. Branco looked on in UTMOST horror at the sight until a Talking Cockatiel flew in.

"Branco, the Telmarine army is charging from their hiding place and heading STRAIGHT for our village!" the crested Parrot yelled. Branco then sprung into action and turned to some of the soldiers and armed guards who served as defenders of the village. Among them were Minotaurs, Nekomata and Fairies.

"YOU LOT, YOU GO AND ENGAGE THE TELMARINE ARMY IN BATTLE RIGHT AWAY AND HOLD 'EM OFF FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN!" the Kumiho yelled at the top of his lungs, "WE'RE EVACUATING THE VILLAGE!"

"Got it, Branco," a Minotaur captain replied and with that, the Bull-Man relayed the orders to the other defenders and within moments, the group charged off to intercept the invading Telmarines. While they did that, Branco began to pass on the command to more villagers, especially to those capable of flight, to begin evacuating as several more boulders flew in and destroyed more buildings to the HORROR of the villagers, making many of them run around chaotically and screaming as they were consumed by panic. Despite the increasing inferno of the pandemonium, Branco kept his cool and continued barking the order to evacuate to more villagers and those villagers ran off to carry out the command without question or hesitation. Branco then rushed for a voice-enhancing transmitter pole which was a pole with four cones built into its top and a mouthpiece near its base (allowing it to make the speaker's voice louder and carry their voice to every corner of the village. This was useful in making announcements, calling the village together for important meetings or issuing emergency commands) to continue to bark the order to evacuate to ALL the villagers. As he did that and his voice echoed through the air above the village and reached the ears of the other villagers, some of the Telmarines managed to fight or sneak past the defenders outside the village's periphery and the moment they were past the defence force, they rushed like charging bulls for Goldleaf Village and entered into it, battle roars exploding from their mouths and their weapons poised to shed the blood of any Talking Beast or Creature they came into contact with.

"All villagers EVACUATE NOW!" cried Branco through the transmitter pole, his muzzle to the mouthpiece, "ALL VILLAGERS EVACUATE NOW! EVERYONE HEAD TO THE EMERGENCY EXIT AWAY FROM THE TELMARINES! THOSE OF YOU ABLE TO RUN OR FLY AT HIGH SPEEDS RUN FOR YOUR LIVES AND CARRY ANY SMALLER VILLAGER WITH YOU IF YOU ARE ABLE TO! THOSE OF YOU THAT CANNOT RUN OR FLY FAST HEAD STRAIGHT FOR THE CARRIAGES AND BOARD THEM, ESPECIALLY YOU MEDICAL TEAM WITH YOUR PATIENTS..."

The villagers continued evacuating their buildings, dens and houses and running for their lives with mothers carrying their babies and eggs and Centaurs and lesser Kirin, including Shiro's widowed wife and now-fatherless children, carrying those unable to walk due to disability or pregnancy in the case of mothers of live-bearing species like Talking Mammals. But as they did that, the Telmarines that had managed to force or sneak their way past the defenders arrived and began to throw another weapon: torches or flames on sticks. These were normally used as sources of light for navigating environments at night or dark places like a cave but they could also be used as weapons. These fiery bombs on sticks flew like fire comets from the soldiers' hands and the moment they landed on their targets, the flames explosively climbed from the sticks and onto the houses and trees, setting them ablaze. This increased the chaos inferno by adding a LITERAL inferno into the mix as the fire began to spread onto more houses, which were mostly made of wood and other natural materials, and trees. One group of Talking Beasts managed to evacuate a wooden building as it burned and collapsed with a brave Talking Wolf rescuing an accidentally abandoned Spix Macaw chick in the nick of time. The Wolf, with the terrified little blue chick on his back, darted out of the doorway a second before large piece of burning wood dropped across it and sealed it off, closing off the exit completely. Two of the Telmarines threw two more torches at the medical building and set it on fire as well. As the flames began to consume the building, the medical workers hastily evacuated with the patients on stretcher-like pads built from interwoven plant materials like sticks and roots or on the backs of Centaurs and Talking Horses or other Talking Beast capable of carrying smaller Talking Beasts on their backs. Among them was Leia, Branco's pregnant wife and she was being rushed out of the burning building on the back of one of the Centaur medics. Her nurses and midwives, among them Sushi the Cipactli, rushed along after her while the rest of the midwifery team, among them some Babookari and Flutterbird medics, helped more expectant mothers, both of the live-bearing and egg-laying types, flee the inferno, with the latter carrying their nests with eggs due to hatch.

During the evacuation, one of the Terror Bird medics rushed for one of the Telmarines that had thrown one of the torches and took him out with the Axe-Beak technique, a technique only Terror Birds could naturally perform, to the head when he was about to charge at the group with his sword. As she did that, a Spitfire Bird rushed for the other Telmarine and sprayed a burning chemical concoction from the turret-like nostrils on her beak at his face, sending the human into a screaming frenzy with his hands clasping his face. This done, the Terror Bird and the Spitfire Bird fled after the other medics and their patients. As they hurried along, Leia spoke, especially as she heard a familiar voice continue to explode through the air from the speakers atop the transmitter pole.

"That's Branco commanding us to evacuate," said the Kitsune Vixen, "What's happened to Shiro?"

"We'll carry out the deliveries of the babies from the live-bearing mothers due to give birth shortly and have any egg clutches due to hatch be born in the medical carriages," Sushi the Cipactli said, "GO!"

"TO THE MEDICAL CARRIAGES!" a female Talking Quail medic yelled at the fleeing group of medics and their patients and they rushed in the direction of said vehicles. Around them, the hasty evacuation continued with some of the villagers gathering some of the food and fleeing as more Telmarines tossed more torches at their buildings. Few more invading Telmarines rushed towards the fleeing villagers with their weapons only to be disposed of by some of the villagers capable of fighting. One Telmarine was telekinetically seized by an Onikuma or Magical Bear when he tried to attack a group of fleeing Talking Pandas, including a mother with a cub and, with a neon blue aura surrounding him and the user's eyes aglow with the same colour, was flung HARD into a wall where his neck was snapped, resulting in his death. This done, the Onikuma fled with the others, ushering them to continue evacuating. However, the Telmarines continued charging into the village, their minds UTTERLY consumed with rage and the desire to slaughter the fleeing creatures and this time, archers armed with crossbows made in their own style appeared and they began to add a blizzard of arrows into the mix, aiming mostly for the flying Talking Beasts with some going for the grounders as well. One Deathgleaner (a giant Bat-like creature) was struck in the front shoulder and knocked out of the sky. However, as he crashed, an Elaphocentaur (Centaurs with bodies of a Cervid instead of a Horse with the males possessing antlers like regular Deer and Jackalopes) appeared, seized the injured giant Bat in his arms and carried him to safety as more arrows slashed through the air from the archers. The arrows that missed their targets ended up jabbed into either walls, the trunks of trees or burning wood rubble. Several grounder Beasts, among them some Fauns, were fatally shot down and they fell like ragdolls onto the grass, dead. Then a Sphinx came in and used his telekinesis to launch some rocks and flaming pieces of debris at the Telmarines to drive them back, aiming especially at the archers. The archers drove back as the projectiles enclosed in a neon aura flew at them and the Sphinx managed to slay some of them with a flaming log. Then he retreated after then others, his feathered wings beating the air.

As Leia's Centaur carried her, Leia seized a small communicator and began to talk to her Kumiho husband.

"Branco!" said she.

"Oh, you're okay, that's brilliant," said Branco with relief. He then turned serious, "You NEED to get to a large medical carriage and quickly. Can you do that?"

"We're on our way there," the Centaur carrying Leia replied.

"That's excellent," replied Branco. Suddenly, a MASSIVE wave of a squeeze flared within Leia's abdomen and she grunted. This indicated one thing.

"I think that was a contraction," she said to Branco, "Our cubs are on their way."

"I'm on my way, Leia," said Branco and with that, he abandoned the transmitter pole and began to check the village to make sure everyone was out. However, before he could do that, a HUGE wave of more Telmarines surged into Goldleaf like floodwater and began to unleash their fury full throttle. This was the main army and it indicated to Branco one thing: the army had managed to overpower and fight past the defence force. Many of the savage war men then surged towards the desperately evacuating villagers and began to put them to the sword or the flames of the torch among the inferno. It didn't matter whether the victims were young, old, disabled or ill. Branco looked on at the rapidly worsening situation and began to reach a difficult decision, a sad and dismayed look on his face. If he did not act now, the Telmarine army will chase down the other evacuees fleeing on foot, including Leia and his soon-to-be-born cubs, and slaughter them.

The evacuees that had managed to escape the village continued their rush to safety. Those able to run at high speed without the need for assisted transport from the carriages, such as Horses, continued running and those able to fly, continued flying to safety. Many carried some of the smaller Talking Beasts on their backs or in their talons. The rest of the evacuees headed for the carriages and began to board them while those tasked with pulling them began to reign themselves to them. Leia's group rushed for one of the large medical carriages and as they did that, Leia released another cry of pain as another birth contraction, this time a bigger one, erupted within her belly.

"Keep breathing, Leia," Sushi commanded as she and the others with her continued their rush. Medical carriages were larger than regular carriages and were designed to carry casualties, pregnant mothers and mothers of egg-laying species with nests of eggs. They had their own inbuilt set of medical equipment to tend to patients on the move. Though their design was relatively basic for most Narnians living on the Land Domain preferred to use materials from nature as building blocks for their vehicles and housing, some advanced technology such as crystalline screen communicators was still used occasionally by the Land Domain dwellers but these were quite rare. Leia's group hastily boarded the medical carriage with Leia being removed from the Centaur's back by Sushi and a Babookari and quickly loaded into the back end of the carriage. The Centaur then went round to the front to get ready to pull it with some other creatures capable of pulling carriages, like Horses and reigned himself to it with some of the reigns built into the front of the basic vehicle.

In the rear space of the large vehicle, Leia was quickly carried to a birthing table while a Carakiler mother-to-be with a nest of three eggs ready to hatch, was guided to a special corner. Her husband had gone to fight the Telmarines to help hold them off similar to Branco. As soon as Leia was on the birthing table, the Vixen grunting in pain as labour began to fully set in, two Babookari medics began to examine her cubs and prepare for their arrival. The twins will be delivered one at a time. At the front of the carriage, the pullers had fully reigned themselves up and were ready to go. Branco asked through the mouth communicator held by the Centaur that had carried her, "Is my wife Leia aboard a medical carriage?"

"Yes, she is, Branco," replied the Horse-Humanoid, his hand holding the receiver.

"Excellent," said Branco, "Now get moving quickly."

"We're waiting for you, Branco," said one of the Horses.

"No, get moving NOW," Branco replied urgently, "Do so WITHOUT questions or backtalk. THAT'S AN ORDER!"

The Centaur, the Horse and the other pullers reluctantly replied and obediently began to pull the carriage. The large carriage, built like an ambulance in our world but more basic, then began to move and within moments, it was off. Leia, who was on the birthing table looked on and began to question why they were leaving without her Kumiho husband.

"Wait, what about Branco!?" she cried out, "We can't leave without him!"

However, her birth contractions seized her attention briefly. Branco then rushed for a hidden place away from the invading Telmarines and began to talk to her through his communicator. Fires continued to blaze all around and the soldiers continued pillaging the village.

"Leia, can you hear me?" the Kumiho asked, "I'm afraid I'm not gonna be there to witness the birth of our two cubs. I'm needed here."

"No, Branco," Leia replied, her voice beginning to break at the sad news, "You HAVE to."

"Leia, I cannot," replied Branco, "Those Telmarine soldiers are invading our village full force and I HAVE to be here to help hold them off and stall them while the rest of you escape; especially you and our cubs, Leia. This is critical for your survival and the survival of our cubs and everyone else, especially those of rare and critically endangered species like the Spix macaw."

As he spoke, the inferno outside suddenly ascended steeply as the Telmarines intensified their pillaging of the burning village, soldiers forcing their way into any homes that hadn't caught fire and violently ransacking them. Branco shot a look at the invaders and saw that some of them were rushing in the direction of the evacuees, Leia continuing to beg her husband of centuries to be there with her during the birth of their cubs. Turning back to Leia through the communicator, Branco urgently said, "I have to go to the battlefield and help fight those invaders," and with that, he put the communicator into one of his nine white and silver tails, left his hiding place and charged off into battle.

"Branco, please, DON'T LEAVE ME!" cried Leia but then an Onikuma midwife came in.

"Okay, Leia, you need to start pushing NOW," the Magical Bear nurse commanded.

"Yes, you need to remain focussed on the birth of your two cubs," added Sushi. Leia, despite the anguish of Branco's decision to stay behind to help fight the Telmarines, did so and cried in pain.

As Leia began to give birth to the first of the twin cubs, the evacuees continued fleeing their blazing village but as they left, some of the Telmarines rushed after them and began to try and catch them. Among them were some of the archers and they began to fire a blizzard of arrows at the fleeing villagers. However, some of the remaining defenders fought back. Branco rushed through the burning village; his former home now, seized a quiver of arrows and a crossbow from a fallen Telmarine soldier and charged in the direction of the fleeing evacuees. Then he climbed a small hill and began to fire arrows at some of the Telmarines as they attempted to chase after the fleeing carriages, as well as his well-developed Kumiho powers such as telekinesis and foxfire, an ability exclusive to the Magical Foxes. The Telmarines chasing after the fleeing carriages and evacuees fleeing on foot or on the wing then began to fell as the arrows struck them from the defenders using arrows or telekinesis users utilising projectiles. Branco then resorted to using some blasts of foxfire, limiting its use due to it being incredibly draining to Magical Foxes despite it being immensely powerful in individuals with more tails (especially Nine-Tailed forms) to kill some of the soldiers, turning them immediately to charred carcasses. He blasted a group of them using a ballista (a weapon built for firing larger arrows like spears) with the fire-lightning as they fired a javelin after the carriage containing his wife Leia and company, putting them to death instantly. Branco then seized the javelin fired by them with his telekinesis, stopping it from piercing the carriage containing his wife in the nick of time, flipped it around and sent it flying back at more Telmarines to startle them by plunging it into the earth right near them. Then Branco continued fighting off more of the army. However, as he did that, sounds of a newborn cub crying reached his ears from the communicator in his tails. In the medical carriage, the first of Branco and Leia's two cubs was brought to the now-mother Kitsune and she took him in her front legs to cradle him. Branco ducked behind a small hill, seized the communicator from his tails and began to talk with Leia again.

"I hear that one of our cubs has been born," said he with a smile, that smile beaming with pride that he was now a father.

"It's a boy," said Leia as she cradled the first cub, clearly a male, "What do you want to call him?"

Branco shot a look at the attacking Telmarines as they continued their assault after the fleeing evacuees and turned his muzzle back to the communicator.

"I think Quaoar would be an excellent name for him," said the new Kumiho father, "After a Talking T-Rex friend I once knew."

A smile then formed on Leia's muzzle, "Quaoar it is."

Then the newborn male cub, Quaoar, was taken aside as labour took hold on Leia once again, the second cub now taking its turn to be born. Branco then packed his communicator back into his tails and prepared to continue to fend off the Telmarines but he soon found himself spotted, some of the hostile eyes of the soldiers turning his way. Immediately, Branco fully revealed himself and then darted away to make the Telmarines chase him. The move worked and within moments, a surge of hostile humans bent on bloodshed charged after the Kumiho like floodwater, battle screams exploding from their mouths. Branco charged in the opposite direction to the fleeing villagers to divert the Telmarines away from them. As the Kumiho ran as fast as he could, the archers nocked their crossbows with arrows and began to shoot them at him while those armed with spears threw them as well. With a flurry of arrows slashing through the air and sticking into the ground or any obstacle Branco passed such as small trees, and spears jabbing into the ground, Branco continued fleeing, heading in the direction of the thicket where the Telmarine army had hidden. As he continued his rush, Branco turned his gaze and saw an area of carnage on the other side of the village's periphery. To his utmost dismay, the carnage was the defence forces, their bodies lay strewn across the clearing, slain by the Telmarine army when they overpowered them. Pulling his gaze from the fallen defenders, Branco hurried on. However, an arrow managed to hit its mark, hitting the Kumiho right in the back of the neck. A MASSIVE bark of agony exploded from his mouth and Branco immediately took refuge among the trees. At this very moment, in the medical carriage, Leia soon gave birth to her and Branco's second cub and Branco, now fatally wounded and knowing he had little time left, seized the communicator when he heard the cries of the second cub.

"It's a girl," Leia cooed as she held the second crying cub.

"It's great," said Branco, "Let's name her quickly as I do not have much time left," he gazed out from behind the tree trunk and saw the Telmarines searching for him in the forest.

"How about Siveth?" asked Leia. Branco was about to reply but he soon found himself found and surrounded by a group of hostile human soldiers and the moment they did, they began to close in on the Kumiho, their spears and swords aimed at him.

"Siveth it is," Branco immediately replied as he shot a startled gaze at the soldiers. Leia smiled at the second newborn cub, Siveth as Branco then called, "Leia can you hear me?"

"Yes," said Leia.

"I want you to know that I love you," said Branco, "I love..." he didn't have time to finish when the soldiers surrounding him suddenly lunged at him and began to brutally put him to death with their swords and spears. In the process, the communicator was destroyed. On Leia's end, the communication was cut off and Leia's world was then shattered when she realised the conclusion. Then the Vixen, now with both Quaoar and Siveth in her paws, looked through a small window in the medical carriage and saw a large cluster of flames clawing at the sky and belching out smoke, Goldleaf Village as it continued to burn.
