During a nice summer day, it was the perfect day to have some fun at a local waterpark. Lots of people were enjoying themselves in the water. Once such thing was a man named Natsu Dragneel. He emerged right out of the water in a local pool after giving himself a good cooling in the water. A few ladies thought he looked quite attractive with how he just emerged out of the water. As he climbed out of the pool, he went over to his lounge chair and grabbed his towel.

"Nothing like a nice swim on day like today." Natsu said. As he was drying himself off, a couple ladies walked right over to him with what they desire clearly written over their faces.

"Hi."

"Hey." Natsu said.

"My friend and I were thinking of hitting the local hot tub and then grabbing a something to eat. Would you like to join us?"

"Uh... I already did the hot tub, boring, but I could go for a bite." Natsu said.

"Hold on. That's quite the scar you have right there." A lady said as she ran her hand down his muscular chest and over a scar he had that went straight down, right at the center of his ribs. They both clearly found the scar attractive. "How did you get that bad boy?"

"This thing? It's a long story." Natsu said.

"We've got some time." Both of the ladies sat down and were all ears about this.

"Okay. Well, the truth is that I got this after some surgery." Natsu said as he sat down. "The truth is that I was quite a smoker. I smoked like a chimney and it drove my brother crazy."

...

Flashback

Natsu never forgot what happened to him. He was just a twenty-something guy and acted like he didn't have a care in the world. He certainly showed it with how he smoked away. It was almost like he breathed smoke instead of air. It drove his brother, Zeref, nuts.

"Seriously, Natsu?" Zeref complained as he fanned the smoke away. "Are you ever going to grow out of that filthy habit, or at least smoke in moderation? It's like you can't go a day without a smoke."

"Will you calm down? It's not as bad as people say." Natsu said.

"Natsu, you're teeth will turn yellow." Zeref claimed.

"So what? No one has perfect teeth." Natsu said.

"That's only minor compared to what else you could happen." Zeref said. "I'm worried this going to end very badly for you. Our grandfather was a smoker, and he died from it."

"Quit acting like a know-it-all." Natsu complained. "I've got everything under control, and it makes me feel good. Anyway..." He was going to argue with his brother about it, but then he suddenly felt something was off. He felt this pressure in his chest and it didn't feel good at all.

"Natsu? What's wrong?" Zeref questioned.

"I don't know." Natsu said as he was having a difficult time breathing.

...

The Hospital

Natsu was taken to the hospital and the doctors were able to handle the situation. The pressure was under control and Natsu could breathe normally. However, he couldn't calm down or relax. The doctors were still checking something with him and he was anxiously waiting. As for Zeref, he was just simply reading a magazine in Natsu's room.

"This is it. This is it, Zeref. I'm sorry for not listening to you." Natsu said.

"Calm down. The doctors are just checking a few tests to make sure everything is okay. If you were about to die, you would still be in pain." Zeref said.

"You don't know that! It could be something silent like cancer!" Natsu said as he was getting hysterical. "This is it! I'm about to die! I can feel it already! I'm slipping away! My strength is fading! Your my brother, and I do love you!" He claimed as he was really thinking the end for him was here. That was until he saw the beauty walked right in.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Lucy Heartfilia."

"Hello, Doctor!" Natsu said as he shot straight up and felt like himself again.

"Halleluiah, it's a miracle." Zeref sarcastically said as he knew what really happened.

"Let me tell you, Dr. Lucy Heartfilia was as beautiful as she was brilliant. I was surprised to learn she was available, and I had to make my move." Natsu narrated and went on with the story, skipping straight to the next part.

"So, what's going on? Am I going to die?" Natsu questioned.

"No, nothing like that." Lucy said. "However, we did find a few concerns that should be looked at and should be treated?"

"Is he going to be okay?" Zeref questioned.

"I believe so, but he is going to need surgery." Lucy said. "Compared to some of the other smoking victims I've dealt with, you should consider yourself lucky that it's only this, Mr. Dragneel."

"Are you going to be the one running the show?" Natsu questioned.

"Well, I will be tending to you." Lucy said. "I'm afraid you're going to have to stay here for a while until you're surgery so we can monitor your vitals. Even after that, you're going to have to be kept here for a while until we say you're free to leave. Might want to get comfortable." Natsu certainly plans to with Lucy being the doctor to take care of him.

"I honestly thought I was going to die, but Dr. Heartfilia assured me I was going to be fine. However, I was going to have to give up smoking for my own good. Still, I got to hang around the good doctor."

...

Days Later

Natsu was enjoying his time in the hospital because he got to spend time with Lucy. She tended to his needs and was getting him ready for the surgery he was going to need. While they were working on that, Natsu was certainly going to try and take the chance. There was just one thing...

"How am I looking?" Natsu asked.

"Pretty good. I think you should be fine for your surgery." Lucy said. "After that, we'll keep you here to monitor your vitals and you should be free to leave soon."

"You've been rather good to me, Doc." Natsu said. "How about before the surgery, we grab a bite in the cafeteria? We could even find a nice spot where it would just be you and me."

"Are you trying to get alone with me like some sort of date?" Lucy asked.

"I thought doctors were suppose to be smart." Natsu teased.

"That's sweet, but I'm a doctor. It would be unethical of me to date my patients." Lucy said.

"Well, once I'm discharged from the hospital, I won't be your patient anymore." Natsu said. "You can date me then."

"I don't think so." Lucy said as she gently turned him down and got back to work.

"I think otherwise." Natsu said as he wasn't going to let her go so easily.

"Apparently, it is some actual rule among doctors to avoid dating their patients. However, I wasn't going to let someone like her go so easily. It was going to be a challenge, but I do like a good challenge. What happened next came after the surgery."

...

Days Later

Natsu's surgery came and the surgery is how he managed to get the scar on his chest. After that, he remained in the hospital a little while longer to make sure everything was a success. It seemed like everything went well and he was free to leave soon.

"Okay, Mr. Dragneel, I think everything is okay. You're free to leave, but you probably will need to give up smoking." Lucy said. "I understand that it might be hard, but you're going to need to do it for your own good."

"I'm just glad I'll be getting some real food." Natsu said. "A nice glass of wine, a big burger, steak, or maybe a nice large pizza."

"Uh... All that sounds rather heavy. Might not be a good idea after you just got done with surgery." Lucy said. "I recommend you make some healthier dietary choices like maybe a nice salad with a glass of water."

"Oh, I sound like I could be at risk." Natsu said. "Maybe since you're a doctor, you should come with me and monitor me to make sure I make some healthier choices so I don't end up in here so soon."

"Are you serious?" Lucy questioned as she could see what he was really trying to do.

"Are you saying that as a doctor, you're not going to help me and make sure I'm in good condition?" Natsu teased. "As a doctor, it is your responsibility to help me in my time of need. I probably don't know what's good for me. The risk and danger might make things even more tempting, so maybe you should come with me to make sure I make the right ones. After all, a great doctor should make sure everything really is fine. Checking in the hospital is one thing, but outside of the hospital is something else." Natsu seemed to have chosen his words well. Lucy thought things over, and as a doctor, it is her responsibility to help people when they need it. She tried to think of a way to argue, but couldn't think of a thing.

"Oh! Fine. My shift ends at six." Lucy said as she played right into Natsu's hands.

...

Natsu's Place

Natsu's little plan was working. He managed to persuade Lucy into coming back to his place. Since he technically wasn't her patient anymore, the gloves were off now. Once they got back to his place, NAtsu tried to be a good host and make her comfortable.

"So, since you're here, you might as well join me for dinner." Natsu said.

"And what would be on the menu, and do not say it's you." Lucy said as she can see where this might be going and she's going to try and make sure it doesn't.

"I was going to say that I could try to find something light as per the doctor's orders, but you're free to have me if you want." Natsu joked.

"You're terrible." Lucy said. "Keep in mind that I'm here as a doctor to patient. Let me see what I can find that will be easy on you." She claimed as she went into his kitchen and tried to stick to her pride as a doctor, but Natsu loves a good challenge. Being the doctor she is, she cooked a nice salad for the two of them. Good thing Natsu had fruits and vegetables. "There. A nice salad like that should be fine. You don't really have a lot of options and need to find healthier food."

"What can I say? I don't like to eating as if I'm a rabbit." Natsu said as he poured a glass of wine.

"Hey! I said you can't have any wine!" Lucy argued.

"It's for you." Natsu said as he handed the glass to her. "Just because I can't drink doesn't mean you shouldn't. Relax. Try and enjoy yourself." Lucy tried not to budge, but she certainly feels like she needs one.

"Just a little. I plan to drive myself home tonight." Lucy said as she took the glass. That might change once Natsu gets through with her. So, the two of them sat together and had a nice dinner together. Lucy was careful not to get too drunk, but she was rather enjoying herself with Natsu.

"Wait. Are you serious?" Lucy questioned while laughing.

"I swear. The panty raid was my friend's idea. What we didn't know was that they belonged to a crossdresser!" Natsu said with both of them laughing. "The only thing darker than the guy's choice in women's underwear was the black eye he gave my buddy." Lucy couldn't stop laughing at that little story he told him. "Needless to say, it was the first and last time we did a panty raid."

"You really are terrible." Lucy said.

"Well, I guess you can say I like to live a little dangerously." Natsu said. "I'm not afraid to take chances or risks, but don't get the wrong idea. Despite how it seemed, I'm not really a bad guy. I just like to have some fun that others might consider to be risky."

"I'm surprised you don't have a bigger medical history." Lucy said. "You certainly do seem like a risktaker."

"Which reminds me of something." Natsu said.

"What?" Lucy questioned. Being the risktaker he is, he held Lucy's head and gave her a fierce kiss. That was exactly what Lucy was trying to avoid. After a few seconds, Lucy pushed him off. "Hey!"

"Like you didn't see that coming." Natsu teased.

"I knew I shouldn't have followed you here. Jerk." Lucy said as she tried to walk right out that door, but once she got it opened, Natsu closed it up. "For someone claiming not to be a bad guy, you sure are doing a lousy job of proving it."

"Look, I'm sorry if I offended or upset you, but I really do like you." Natsu said. "I like that you're really smart, patient, and that you became a doctor to help people is quite admirable. Besides, you could have turned down my offer back at the hospital, but you didn't. You could have just had someone else do it for you, or you could of just brushed me off since I'm not a patient anymore. Are you seriously telling me you might not be interested?"

"Well... I..." Lucy might be a good doctor, but she doesn't know what to do in this situation.

"Speechless? Well, action speaks louder." Natsu claimed as he did just that. He kissed her once again and wasn't letting her go. Lucy started to get into it with Natsu lifting her up and carrying her off to his bedroom. He got his way after all.

End of Flashback

...

"She was still upset with me after that." Natsu said as he finished up the story with the woman. "The next morning, she just walked out of there and it seemed like she didn't want to see me again."

"Oh, you poor thing. It sounded like you really liked her."

"Well, maybe we can help cheer you up."

"Cheer him up for what? I believe that's what I'm suppose to do." Both of the girls looked and saw Lucy come over as she wrapped her arms around Natsu.

"Wait. Is she Lucy?"

"I thought she left you."

"She did until I went over to the hospital, apologized for my behavior, and managed to convince her to go out with me." Natsu said. The girls were repulsed by this. "What? I thought you were asking about my scar. This scar is how the two of us really met."

"We were flirting with you!"

"We didn't know you were taken!"

"Does this make it anymore clear?" Lucy said as she pulled Natsu in and kissed him right in public. Both women were disgusted with this as they just got up and walked away. "You really thought they were just asking about your scar?"

"So what? I've got myself a woman." Natsu said as he kissed her once again to deliver the message to everyone that these two are taken.
