Mika frowned, watching Kankuro forfeit when fighting his brother would normally have not been odd, given that Gaara was deranged, but something felt... wrong. Mika noticed that a few others seemed uncomfortable. However, when Sasuke Uchiha was shown extra favor even though he missed his match, most ignored it.
'Something is wrong, something is off... I feel eyes on me, like I'm being watched. Something cannot be okay... I must be on edge. But I also need to see hte new movers and shakers in these matches.' Turning back to the matches, he got an eyefull of the next match. Temari vs. Shikamaru Nara came next and though it was a fun chess game, Mika wanted to strangle Shikamaru Nara. 'He will get his teammates killed to satiate his laziness... idiot.'
Soon, though not soon enough, Sasuke Uchiha appeared back to back with Kakashi in a flurry of leaves. Mika wanted to puke at their audacity.
'Idiots... still, he was a garbage mentors in Wave, wonder if he actually taught his kiddo anything.' As it turned out, he did. Mika was baffled watching Sasuke fight, moving at incredible speeds and showing off taijutsu near Lee's level. 'That is no easy feat, maybe Sasuke is a genius, or maybe he abused his sharingan at some point. Still, remarkable for a months progression. Still, wonder how he is going to penetrate Gaara's armor, speed alone cannot do that, at least not at Sasuke's current pace.'
And then, to Mika's utter awe, he saw Sasuke rushing forward, down the wall of the arena, with pure lighting chakra in his fucking hand. The sound of birds filled the air and before anyone could even react, his hand penetrated Gaara's barrier and likely, his skin tight armor.
Screams of blood filled the world, along with a terrible chakra dense and dark. The barrier fell, Gaara was bleeding... and suddenly feathers and foreign chakra fell down across his vision.
With practiced ease, Mika dispelled the genjutsu just in time to see an explosion of smoke up at the Hokage's stands. Turning, Mika saw the Hanabi and her father dispelling the genjutsu. "Hiashi, get Hanabi to safety." Mika felt a tightening of his chest, seeing the little girl's panic... only to realize her Byakugan was focused behind him.
"LOOK OUT!" She called out.
It was when that six ninja, all wearing foreign Sound and Sand garb, two of which were wearing Cloud clothes, all appeared. "See what we promised, a little weak Hyuuga for you and yours."
Mika's blade was out in moments, killing two with a backwards slash, diving under another's blade and cutting off a head. Turning, he blocked a larger man's punch by grabbing his forearm. Twisting it, he snapped it whole, kicking out his knees and slamming a fist up upward into his throat killing hm instantly. As the man dropped, Mika turned, and saw Hiashi had easily killed the other two, they were dead and on their backs, bleeding out of their mouths.
The Hyuuga leader nodded at him. "I heard you were promoted to Special Jonin, it serves you well."
"I try... " He offered a smile. 'SHIT, this is terrible, there is no way Hinata or I could dive out. The plan was for her to leave a clone here and dive out after her fight with Gaara... we figured she'd best or at least tie with him or Sasuke. Hmm... we need to adapt. How though?'
It was then though that Mika saw and heard something that shattered his heart. It was a scream, of anguish, loss and terror and it came from Hiashi and Hanabi. Turning, slowly he saw Hinata, blood pooling out of her mouth, standing in front of her sister, a blade in her heart. The blade was attached to a Cloud Ninja's hands, one her father had presumedly killed just moments ago.
'She must have body flickered here to save Hanabi...' Mika thought absently.
Reality kicked in then, like a rage filled Sanin. Mika moved, kicking the man's head hard enough to shatter every bone in his skull before moving glowing hands on Hinata... but it was pointless.
"Hinata, please, sis, survive." He called out, his voice already hoarse.
She shook her head, moving his hands away. "It's too late... I love you, Mika... you brought out the best in me... you helped me love myself. Thank you for that, always and forever..."
And like that, the brightest light he had ever known died in his arms, a peaceful smile on her gorgeous face.
Rage, hate and anger so intense it left him breathless exploded from his body in transcendent waves. He actually felt the world around him cringe in response. Mika moved, with blinding speed, slaughtering any and all Sound or Sand Ninja. Without mercy, he sliced and slashed, cast genjutsu to mess with visions, and generally slaughtered all those around him.
His vision actually turned red at some point, narrowly focused on those he slaughtered. Time seemed to blur, all he knew was death and carnage and then...
Then there was no one to kill...
A sharp pain jolted his back, he turned and saw Hanabi, shattering his anguish driven rage. The girl was sobbing. "Please, my sister wouldn't want this!" And then, ignoring his blade and blood covered body, threw herself at him. Her shivering, sobbing body broke him entirely and he pulled her into his arms, crying for what felt like hours. He did not care who saw him, he had lost his first and only friend...
And nothing could ever help that to heal.
Hiashi was there in moments, but the man looked shattered, broken by the loss of his eldest daughter.
"She loved you, you were her first real ally, friend... you are always welcome in our compound."
Mika nodded, holding the now sniffling Hanabi. "Can I tutor Hanabi?"
Hiashi nodded, tears falling down. "I am sure Hinata would have loved that..."
And just like that, Mika felt a light at the end of the unending tunnel of Hinata's death. 'I will protect your sister and never let your dream end... I WILL save your clan from themselves... of that, you can trust me. Hinata...'
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
