Chapter Eleven

Kagome stepped away from Sesshoumaru, retaking the spot she'd been in prior at Shippo's side. She felt people looking her way, but she ignored them even as Shippo cheerfully linked his arm with her own and leaned closer to her, auburn hair mixing with her own dark locks a bit.

Admittedly, she wasn't surprised any when she saw who she was to go up against. She hid her sigh when she felt her opponent's gaze land directly on her. At the same time, she shifted her gaze towards him in return. Stoic blue clashed against glowering crimson, and she couldn't help it. A smirk painted her lips as she matched his glare with one of her own.

She didn't know if he did it on purpose, or if he thought it'd just be entertaining to watch. Hell, it was probably both knowing the hubristic dog. The fact that he'd chosen them to be first definitely was for his own entertainment, however. That much she knew for certain.

"Oh, would you look at that," he commented dryly. The rest around her were taken aback by his bored tone. "Seems the first match will be between Kagome and Bakugo."

She arched a brow as she looked at him. He offered her a smirk and motioned for her to follow him, along with Bakugo. She rolled her eyes, thankful that she didn't have to fret about Enya or Eira stepping in. Aizawa had kept them that afternoon. They were probably still napping in his scarf if she had any guesses about it.

"Fine," she stated. "You better remember not to use your Quirk though," she commented to Bakugo as she passed him. "I'd rather not have an explosion to the face today, thanks."

"Hah, brat you scared or something?" he retorted. Kagome scoffed.

"As if," came her response. "That might be the only way you win against me. Let me know if you want me to go easy on you."

A tense silence built up between them as the rest of the class was left behind.

"I-I'm not sure if she should antagonize him like that…" Midoriya trailed off once they were out of earshot.

"Nah, it's okay," Shippo hummed in response. "He should be worried, honestly."

"What do you mean?" Uraraka asked.

"Kagome-chan is Sesshomaru's apprentice and she's been training under him since even before he came to teach here," he stated with a wide smile. "She knows plenty of useful techniques- some of which are only used in demon culture." He paused and tapped his chin with a clawed finger before shrugging. "She's super nice and kind to anyone, but that's only if you stay off her bad side." He could remember the times Inuyasha had been on the receiving end of her temper. Even without the beads of subjugation, she could deal a lot of damage easily. "Trust me, Kagome-chan seems to actually like Bakugo, deep down," he stated then with a knowing smile. The rest seemed surprised to hear his claim, and he laughed. "No way she'll say it, but in a way, he reminds her of Sesshoumaru's brother, Inuyasha, and they're best friends."

"Do you think that Sesshoumaru-sensei has the same realization as you?" Iida asked. Shippo glanced at him before ultimately chucking.

"Huh? Him?" Shippo jutted his thumb in the silver-haired demon's direction at the mention of him, a gleam entering his aqua eyes. "No way. He doesn't care about things like that. He just wants an entertaining match. Trust me, I know that old dog more than enough at this point!" He lived with him, after all.

"The rules are clear," Sesshoumaru commented as he eyed the pair standing before him in the arena. Neither of them swapped their focus from the other, and he smirked in amusement. This would prove to be even better than he anticipated. "If there's any use of your Quirks, I will intervene. I assure you, that is an outcome no one desires."

"Tch, whatever," Bakugo scoffed. His arrogance wasn't a surprise to Sesshoumaru in the slightest. "You ready or not, you damn brat?"

"You should choose your words more carefully," Kagome remarked with boredom seeping into her otherwise dry tone. She cupped her hands behind her back and her bored expression shifted into a saccharine smile. She craned her head to the side a fraction, fluttering her lashes innocently. "I'm ready wherever you are. You have to try and pin me, after all."

He matched her sugary smile with an irritated glare, not that it caused her to shift in her appearance or stance any. He offered no more warnings before he ran at her, hands prepped to take her down. She didn't move an inch until he was within reach, and she crouched to dodge his attempt, sweeping her leg out to knock his balance from him. He stumbled a bit before catching himself, and she calmly rose back to her full height as he turned to glower at her with ire brimming in his crimson eyes.

She was unbothered as he turned completely to glare at her. "Try harder," she demanded. "That was just plain embarrassing."

He did as she demanded, rushing towards her a second time. This time he prevented her from doing the same thing when he followed her motions. He snagged her around the hips, but she merely bent her weight backward, slamming him down on his back on the ground in the process. She once more stood back up, dusting her hands off on her gym pants.

She could feel his frustrations mounting as she leveled her attention on him. Eyes narrowed, teeth barred, he looked truly mean as he got back on his feet. She didn't buckle under the weight of it- having stared down far worse in nightmares and reality.

"Damn brat!" Bakugo growled as he rushed her again. Something about the way she looked at him with a lacking expression bothered him. He hated the way she looked at him. He was going to make that look go away. "Let's see you do that again!"

Her expression faltered a bit when he ran at her and swung his leg out to aim a kick at her chest. She backtracked, blocking the kick with her arms as she stumbled back. She didn't have time to adjust when he dove in towards her a second time, aiming a strike at her face. She stumbled and fell to the ground, hand cupping the side of her face that'd he hit. It'd hurt- and she'd never been so grateful for one of Sesshoumaru's rules. If he'd used his Quirk, she'd be in a whole lot more pain, surely.

She picked her head up, ignoring the blood on her lip as the cut healed slowly under the influence of her spiritual energy. She clambered back up onto her feet as she matched his glare with one of her own. She fixed her hair once again and held her hands up as she shifted her stance into a more aggressive one. It was different than the one she'd adopted during the demonstration against Sesshoumaru. As she did, her glare broke and a smirk peppered her face.

"A little better," she commented. "Still not good enough, I'm afraid," she taunted.

His brow ticked in annoyance at her taunt, her comment seeming to strike a nerve. Bakugo ran at her a second time, the idea of pinning her seemingly forgotten and brushed to the side. He tried to swing his fist at her once more, only for it to be blocked by her. She caught it and swung her leg up, striking him and knocking him back a couple of paces. It didn't deter him any, and he ran at her instantly. Kagome spun, her motions akin to a dance as she dodged him. When she saw her opening, she landed a blow to his back, sending him down.

A tense air befell the area as the onlookers of the rest of the class watched silently- stunned by the sudden escalation. It was no longer what the training was meant to be. That much was obvious. It'd shifted to a full-fledged battle in a matter of seconds, it seemed. Bakugo got back up without missing a beat, and the fight was on all over again, leaving the onlookers to helplessly watch as it got more heated.

"S-Sir," Iida spoke up, finding his voice and looking towards Sesshoumaru. "S-Should you break it up?"

Sesshoumaru glanced at him briefly before turning his focus back to the two in the arena. He arched a brow, observing silently for a minute. "Let's give it another minute."

"..."

It was clear to the rest by now that he was enjoying the match a little too much.

A few more hits from both sides resulted in him finally stepping in, much to the apparent relief of most of the onlookers. Sesshoumaru stepped up to the arena and snagged Kagome by her wrist. He easily lifted her and set her over his shoulder- effectively ending the battle.

"Enough for now," he stated, voice monotone as ever. "Next team- you're up."

The following day promised a hopefully unstressful day for her. Eria and Enya once again woke her up along with her alarm- nearly knocking the wind from her in the process with their twin pounces. Waiting for her just like always was Shippo, already ready to go to school.

"I can walk to school myself sometimes," she reminded him as they started on their way. Shippo shook his head and puffed his cheeks out in a pout.

"Yeah, I know, but where's the fun in that?" he asked. "It's more fun walking with you than going with Sesshoumaru."

Kagome rolled her eyes, barely stifling a laugh as they walked through the gathered crowd of news people- always there in hopes of getting a word from All Might, it seemed. Not that it ever went their way. She easily ignored any prying comments or questions, not bothering to give them the time of day.

Upon making it to the classroom and taking her seat, most of everyone else was already present. Eria and Enya trotted along, greeting the rest of the room and getting their usual doses of pets and attention from the room. Once she sat down, Kagome turned automatically, resting her chin in her palm as she looked at Shoto.

"Morning," she greeted cheerfully.

He turned towards her upon hearing her voice, a small light entering his eyes at her presence. "Good morning."

Kagome smiled. That uncomfortable uncertainty of what to do or say around him was slowly fading, and she was relieved by that. Still, a bit of it remained, and she downcast her gaze to his desk stationed between them. She wanted to say more, but in the end, the words got caught in her throat. She never imagined talking to someone would be so difficult, but here they were.

Before she could try, Aizawa entered the room at last, and his presence commanded all attention forward.

"Good morning everyone," he greeted. As he spoke, both felines perked up and bounded over to him, taking perch on his shoulders as if they planned to oversee the lessons from there. They probably did. Besides Kagome, he'd quickly become their favorite. He scratched them both under their chins, unbothered by the way they found their places on his body, and they promptly soaked up the attention. "This is a bit sudden, but I forgot to do it earlier," he stated. "Today I'll have you guys choose a Class Representative."

An air of relief swept over the class when their learned it wasn't another test of sorts, and several people started advocating for it to be them. It didn't take long for the room to grow louder and louder with the growing voices. Aizawa wasn't affected by it, seeming to even ignore it with ease.

"Everyone, silence please!"

Kagome promptly jumped in her seat when Iida's voice rose above the others. She turned her attention to him, tilting her head to the side a fraction in curiosity. She wasn't the only one, as all eyes went to him.

"This is a job with serious responsibility and leading other people. It is not a task for just anyone who wants to do it. It's a calling that requires the trust of those around you," Iida stated. "If we wish to use democracy to decide the most suited for the role, then we must hold an election to come to a decision."

Kagome could find no fault with his analysis of the situation. However… "It's only a been a few days," she commented. "Truth is, a lot of us don't really know each other still," she said, resting a palm on her cheek in thought.

"Do you really think it's a good idea?" Kaminari asked, adding to her statement. "What if everyone just votes for themselves?"

"Right," Kirishima said. "If everyone votes for themselves, then…-"

"Well, don't you think that's precisely why the one who receives multiple votes here can truly be considered the most reliable for the job?" Iida asked.

Kagome shrugged. "He has a point," she stated. "It's the most balanced way to decide, at least," she added on.

Iida nodded in agreement. The next second, he turned to Aizawa. Kagome mirrored him, her face going blank at the sight of him already zipping himself back up in his yellow sleeping bag. Both of her cats had already cozied down in it, too.

"Aizawa-sensei, what do you think?" he asked.

"I couldn't care less," he responded, falling to lay on the floor. "Just come to a decision before homeroom is over."

Well, that's that, she figured.

Auroua-chan: Almost to the point where Shigaraki shows up again. Super excited about the villain's attack on the school~ We're closer to the point where Endeavor will come into play, too-

Pairing talk;
The thought of Tokoyami being paired with Kagome is cute to me. At the same time, I really like Tokoyami paired with Tsuyu, so I'm semi-torn about them haha. Amajiki and Shinso are still top options for me. As well as Bakugo (plus many more haha. There are just too many options that sound so good at this point!) If I were to say it, I think my top choice right now might be Mirio because he and Kagome might mesh together so well, but I haven't decided on anything. (At the same time, he might be a better friend/brother-figure for her than a love interest.)

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you~

Bye for now~
