Our Grand Canyon
Arriving at the front door wasn't the relief you thought it was. Dean tried first to open the thing, but it wouldn't budge. After the failure of brute force, the brothers looked to you. Sliding the pick out of your jacket, you managed to have it in the lock fairly quickly. Everything was in just the right position to click into place, but something was fighting you…hard. You struggled with the lock and heard Sam quip behind you, "Well, it's 12:04, Dean. You good? You happy?"
"Yeah, I am happy."
"'Let's go hunt the Morton House,' you said. 'It's our Grand Canyon.'"
"Sam, I don't wanna hear this."
"You got two months left, Dean. Instead, we're gonna die tonight."
CRASH!
You quickly tucked and rolled out of the way just as Sam smashed a wooden chair against the door, directly over where your head had just been. "Okay, enough!" You shouted, annoyed that they had forgotten your presence. "I'm so g** damn fed up with the two of you lately! This isn't a f***ing soap opera so get your s*** together!"
Ed must have heard your chastisement and came running. "Whoa whoa whoa fellas, what's going on?!" You turned to him, not needing or wanting his chivalry. "I'll tell you what's going on. Every door, every window, I'm assuming every exit in this God d*** house is sealed."
"But w-why are they sealed?" Maggie stuttered. Dean answered, leaving you to collect yourself. I hate to blow up like that. It's g** damn unprofessional, but dammit these boys know how to piss me off. "It's a supernatural lockdown, okay? Whatever took Corbett doesn't want us to leave, and it's no Death Echo. This is a bad mother, and it wants us scared."
"Or it just wants us." Maggie added. You had managed to calm down, but now were just annoyed with yourself. Amateur.
"Uh, guys, the camera's fritzing again." Interrupted the cameraman. Harry responded, "Guys, the EMF's starting to spike." You could feel the fear in the air and Sam tried to calm the kids down, "Everybody, stay close. There's something coming." You felt something wrap around your hand and squeeze, looking over your shoulder to see Ed standing next to you. You stared and he dropped your fingers, instead grabbing the man next to him.
The sudden appearance of a disheveled man wearing a large dirty trench coat got everyone's attention, as he hadn't been there a moment ago. "Is this the same echo you guys saw earlier?" Dean questioned. "No, it's a different guy."
"Multiple echoes? What the hell's going on?" You calculated as Sam answered. "Beats me." Two men. Two different time periods. One was shot, let's see how this one dies and if it's a similar M.O.
"Hey! Hey buddy!" Dean screamed at the specter. "Hey. Hey. Wake up. You're dead! Hello!"
"What's he doing?" Harry asked you. "It's rare, but sometimes you can shock an echo out of it's trance if you can reach the part of the spirit that's still human. Usually you have to have some kind of connection to the diseased though."
"Come on! Wake up! Be dead!" The echo turned to face you all and an eerie high pitched screech pierced your ear drums. "You guys hear that? What's that sound? Harry?" Ed questioned. A bright light began to illuminate the ghost and your stomach turned as the lot of you witnessed a (clearly inebriated) man get flattened gruesomely by an invisible train. A train accident? Inside a house? Something is very wrong here.
