Chapter Four

"Well, whoever hide this was clever." The grounds man remarked.

Back to where Lizzy was, she exited the manor and approaching the grounds man, wanted to know what he'd found. Lizzy walked over and when the gentleman looked at her, he held something in hand as he

finished.

"I found this while I was getting the plants ready for gardening."

Lizzy approached and when she looked, she realized he was holding something which was a bit faint to see. She narrowed her eyes and after she prayed a prayer, she answered. "Alright; what is it?"

"It's a small chest, Miss Lizzy." The grounds man replied.

"Whatever is it doing there?" Lizzy inquired.

She was puzzled as she watched as he looked at the chest. He was kindly and Lizzy liked him; he was a fatherly figure for her. As it was, Lizzy was orphaned and was raised by a Catholic family who aided her. She was thankful to Our Lord for them; yet Lizzy never knew the background of her parents because she'd been adopted.

Returning to the present, Lizzy crouched beside the grounds man before she said. "I haven't seen this before; it was found on the grounds and I see there isn't else. Is there a key?"

The grounds man rose as he brushed his hands. He shook his head before he answered. "No; not from what I found. All I know is this was found and I don't know how it got here."

The gentleman finished brushing his hands. Lizzy looked at him and the unspoken message was there. Lizzy offered a prayer before she rose; then she placed her hands on her hips and as she did, she looked around the front. Yes; it was the time for the plants and grounds to be tended to. After she finished praying, Lizzy turned the gentleman and when she smiled, she responded.

"Alright; here's is what we will do. I will take the chest and examine it. Then when things are sorted out, we will know where it came from. In the meantime," she peered over towards the gate, which was being opened, Lizzy finished, "I will be moving along. The orphanage needs some help and I told them I will be there."

The grounds man smiled before he nodded in agreement.
