Yang

When you think of the most delicious food and drink combo in the world, what do you think? If it's anything other than milk and cookie then… that's okay. You're free to like whatever you like, but, preferably, Ruby looooves~ milk and cookies. And nothing could or ever will change that fact. So, you can guess how she'd react if someone swiped them from her very hands.

"Yang~" Ruby groaned. Ruby pushed herself up against Yang and stood on her tippy-toes while trying to take back what Yang took from her. A glass of milk. But Ruby being so upfront and confrontational about said Glass of milk only made Yang lean back, creating more of a distance between Ruby and the glass of milk. All Ruby could do was grumble and pout after she realized she couldn't beat Yang when it came to height.

"Rubes, I love you and everything that's short about you, but this is your seventh glass of milk… I'm pretty sure your bones are as durable as a dinosaur's." Yang chuckled while she taunted Ruby. Yang planted her lips onto the glass, side-eyeing Ruby. Ruby's eyes widened in disbelief before leering at Yang. Ruby spoke with a tone that wasn't so sure of oneself, "You wouldn't dare…" Hearing this only made Yang grin evilly, smirking to herself. To Yang, it was just her messing with Ruby, her little sis. But to Ruby, it was a matter of life or death(Not really).

Yet, before Yang could gulp it down, a rough firm hand found itself wrapped around the glass of milk, pulling it away from Yang's hands. This startled Yang, but Ruby stood in shock. The perpetrator is their dad. Tai let out a sigh of relief after gulping down the contents, "Phew~ A nice cold glass of milk to start the day." Tai smirked as he looked at both Ruby and Yang, knowing very well what he'd just done. You could tell he knew since he was trying his best to hold back a laugh.

Ruby dropped to her knees in defeat, not forgetting to make it overly dramatic, "No… this can't be. Curse this cruel world!~" She shook her fists up in the air. Yang could only cross her arms and roll her eyes. "Morning, Dad." Yang said, a hint of glee in her voice. Yang found it strange to say those very words. She was used to it, and not used to it at the same time. And that didn't make any sense to her, and it bothered her, but she couldn't care less if it continued to bother her. At least she can talk to her dad without a cold heart, and knowing that greatly warmed her heart.

"Good morning, my sunny little dragon." Tai smiled sweetly. Seeing his smile that was made with absolute love while hearing her dad call her by that nickname made Yang's face flush. A feeling of content sat in her heart, she'd love to run up to her dad and hug him with a ton of love and affection, but hell would have to freeze over for her to start acting like that. You could say that she also feels that way because he returned to who he was; a loving father.

Ever since Tai shut down the only thing Yang wanted during those times was to fix their family, but neither she or Ruby could do that. Only their dad could give her what she wanted. To bring back their once-loving family. And, thankfully, her dad pulled through and did exactly that.

Yang shied away, "Yeah, yeah. What's with that nickname, anywa- Whoa!" Yang squirmed, trying to find her footing. The perpetrator, again, is her dad. Tai picked up his two daughters in one fell swoop. Embracing them both with a tight grip that felt impossible to break free from, like how their mom would always do. "I'm so sorry, you two…" All of a sudden, Tai's voice was quiet, but you could hear it tremble and waver. Hearing how fragile he sounded caused both Ruby and Yang to tense up, along with a pang in their hearts. They both understood that they'd been treated not so great for the last few weeks, but they were still in touch with their emotions. Sympathy wasn't something they could lose, after all, that's what their mother had given them for most of their lives. They still loved their dad and it pained the both of them to see him like this.

"I promise I'll do better from here on forward." Tai sniffled. Yang was still so unfamiliar with giving her sympathies, especially towards her dad. Typically, It was the other way around. Their parents worried for them, cared for them, loved them, and nurtured them. Obviously, Yang and Ruby returned their own form of love in their own way. But Ruby expressed her love much more easily than Yang. Yang's form of love is a little more aggressive and physical compared to Ruby's.

Yang thought that she should act more like how Ruby expressed her love. So, Yang snuggled up close to the warmth of her father's chest, deciding to stay silent. However, it didn't last long, "Erg...- I don't feel so good…" Ruby turned pale as her cheeks suddenly looked stuffed. That's when horror dawned upon Yang, struggling as she tried to break free from her dad's embrace.

But it was too late, Ruby had already expelled the contents of her stomach.

-1 week later, Early Morning-

-Second Floor, Hallway-

"Yang~ I said I'm sorry like a bazillion times already." Ruby whined. Usually, it'd take a couple of seconds for you to get a clear picture of someone's emotions by their facial expression. And, at a glance, it's hard to tell. But, if you were to take a glace at Yang, you'd be able to easily tell that she was visibly upset for reasons that she's going to state, "Ruby. Even if you said sorry for an infinite amount of times, it doesn't change the fact that…" Yang cringed in disgust, "Puke… got in my hair. You know how disgusting that is. Ugh, even after washing my hair a dozen times over it still feels like there's puke in my hair." Yang shivered as the thought passed through her mind.

"I said it was an accident, I didn't do it on purpose. Why would I? Throw up is nasty." Ruby cried out. Ruby's posture looked disheveled: Her shoulders were loose and relaxed. Ruby's strides were disorderly, trying to keep the same pace as her big sister, not too fast or too slow. And each step made her body look like it was bouncing up and down. It was clear that she didn't put any effort to keep herself from doing so. She had only woken up half an hour ago, which would explain why.

Yang got a hold of the railings of the stairs and Ruby copied the action. Ever since Ruby had fallen down the stairs Yang made sure to act properly around her. She didn't want any more incidents to occur that'd cause Ruby to get injured or hurt. So, one way of doing that is to leave good impressions. Like a trait that would always keep her little sis safe.

But back to what she was thinking before. Puke. Yang again shivered at the thought. She'd be lying if she said she had nightmares about it. She didn't really have any nightmares of it, which was surprising to her since she would usually have nightmares whenever something terribly awful happened to her hair. Although maybe she didn't really care much about the whole puke incident as she thought she did. Yang will admit that it was good material to bicker with her little sis about.

-Early Morning-

-Xiao Long Cabin, Living Room-

Yang picked up the remote and scrolled through dozens of channels. She kept on scrolling through channels hoping that there'd be one that would catch her interest and cure her boredom. Though, that didn't mean her head was empty of thoughts. She had a lot to think about with events that transpired recently.

More specifically, her mom. Her biological mom. A week ago she had popped up out of nowhere. What's worse is that Yang bawled her eyes out hugging her mom. And now that she looks back at it, all she got from the memory was a feeling of embarrassment. She should've been mad at her mom for leaving her when she was not even a year old. She should've hated the sight of her mom and cursed her for even coming back. She should've been revolted by her presence. But Yang wasn't. Yang won't deny that she tried searching for her birth mother to fix her family that was broken.

However, her favorability of her biological mother lessened after overhearing a conversation between her mom, Uncle Qrow, and her dad too. The night after the day her birth mother came back. She wasn't a noob when it came to eavesdropping, she's done it a bunch before. And she'll admit that it's a skill that she, herself, finds to come in handy when needed, but not when it's used on you. Ruby to thanks for that; Ruby snitched on Yang once before, but it was over a small thing and Yang wasn't all too upset... Yang may have eaten some of Ruby's cookies in front of her. It was the price for snitching.

But eavesdropping helped Yang discover why her birth mother came back; the family her mom had left Yang and her dad for, a bandit tribe. Yang heard the majority of the conversation, and everything she heard made her furious. But what came after only infuriated her further. The reason why her mother came back was because her tribe had been raided by an individual who took on Raven's entire tribe alone. Yang would've felt bad for the tribe if it weren't for the fact that they took away her mother from her. Though, Yang knew her mother left her and her dad willingly, and knowing this saddened Yang. After hearing enough, Yang decided to call it a night and head to bed. Hoping all her anger would be swept away by the time she woke up.

That was about a week ago, and both Uncle Qrow and Raven had already left a few days ago to scout the tribe and strategize how they'd infiltrate the place. Raven already knew the place best, so it wasn't much of a problem coming up with a plan, that's what Yang overheard, of course. But, even now, Yang continued seething. "Yang? You okay?" Ruby asked, worry spread across Ruby's face, "You've scrolled through every channel at least three times now." Ruby said. Yang grumbled in response. She wanted to tell her little sister she was fine, but at the same time, she didn't feel like talking at all. She just wanted to lay back and feel the softness of the couch she was lying against and forget anything having to do with her biological mom.

"Is it about the puke thing? Are you still mad about that? I said I'm reaaaally~ sorry." Ruby pouted. Yang lazily looked over to her little sister who was sitting beside her on the couch. She focused on her sister's deep silver eyes and black hair that reached down to her shoulders, the tips a fading red. Ruby still had a round face with chubby cheeks. Yang wasn't mad about that whole incident, as mentioned before, she only brought it up to mess with her little sis. Plus, she can't stay mad at her little sister forever, even if she wants to.

"Nah. It's just that this couch is feeling a lot more comfy than usual." Yang said. Ruby was not buying it. Even if Ruby was a young naive kid, some excuses didn't make it past her. "You're thinking about… mom?" Ruby said. Yang could only mumble to herself, "Mom… huh? Yeah, I guess I am thinking about 'mom.'" Yang and Ruby both knew who they were talking about; Raven. However, nobody had told them if Raven planned to stay or not. Maybe Raven will leave them again after reclaiming her tribe. They weren't sure, but they weren't all too confident that Raven would decide to stay with them. Yang was affected by this more than Ruby, for obvious reasons.

"You think she's gonna stay with us?" Ruby asked. "Hm~ I don't know, but knowing her—I mean, at least I got to see her, you know-?" Yang's tone made it sound like she was a little sad and irritated at the thought of her birth mother leaving her again. It was a tone that was hard to miss, and Ruby easily caught on. Ruby wouldn't let this go even if Yang told her to drop it.

Ruby took hold of Yang's hand, "Does it really matter? We've got each other… and we got our dad back too. Even if our, well, 'mom' leaves, I doubt we'll break apart." Ruby gave Yang a loving smile, not too big or too small. Just enough for Yang to find it pleasing to be around. Ruby's affection was really contagious. It can easily affect your mood, and it has already affected Yang. Yang's day was now a little brighter compared to a moment ago. A small smile appeared on Yang's face. She was glad that Ruby was here for her, and grateful that Ruby was such a loving little sister.
