"A costume party?" Xander asked Oz. "I'm not sure I want to go to a costume party, especially on Halloween."
"Why not? It should be fun. My band will be playing and I was told I could invite whoever I want. I thought your group might get a kick out of it."
"You were a Senior when we were Juniors, were you in town for Halloween that year?"
"Yeah, we were playing at the Bronze. We did a group thing."
"That Halloween an idiot played his idea of a joke and sold a bunch of costumes. Then he cast a spell and turned people into their costumes. He thought it was hilarious. No one died, but a lot of people, especially kids, got hurt. Cordy and I didn't transform, but everyone else in our group did. I'm a little leary of Halloween because of it. Cordy will be here for a visit anyway and I was thinking we'd just stay in."
"Huh, I was thinking I'd get to be a werewolf and no one would blink."
"They won't, most Wesen will be woged that night anyway, it doesn't violate Wesen law and gives them a chance to relax in public. I'll talk to Cordy and the others, see if anyone is interested and let you know."
"See you later." Oz headed off and Xander went to find the others and extend Oz's invitation.
"Okay, I'm officially boycotting Halloween!" Xander declared later that night. "Where the Hell did the front door go?!"
"It's not just the front door." Cordelia pointed out. "The windows are gone too."
"Amy, any chance this is Magic and you can do anything about it?" Jesse asked hopefully. Amy extended her tongue, tasting for Magic.
"No Magic." She answered. "Whatever this is, it's not Magic."
"We are trapped in this room?" Tika asked. "What of everyone else, Oz, his band mates, everyone else who was invited, where are they?"
"That's a very good question." Xander agreed.
"I've got another one." Faith said. "If it's not Magic causing this, then how is something writing on the mirror over there?" They turned to look at where Faith was pointing and watched as 'I see you' appeared on the mirror.
"That's blood." Cordelia said. "I can smell it."
"Please tell me some idiot isn't playing another joke." Xander growled. "Horror movie themes?"
"Except for the mirror there's nothing I could use to telekinetically try to break open the wall." Amy said, glancing around. "This is just the entrance hallway."
"I'm in the same boat." Xander said. "Nothing for me to use to try to break through the wall. But I could try kicking the wall and seeing if I could break though that way."
"Might not be a good idea." Cordelia said. "The writing's changed,"
"Brick walls?" Faith said. "Whoever is doing this is listening to us talk."
"And I'm not wearing my usual boots anyway." Xander said. "If the walls were wood construction I might have been able to kick through them, but brick? Forget it. So what else can we do to get out of here?"
"I do not want to be trapped." Tika wrapped her arms around herself. "This is not fun!" She was close to whimpering in fear as Jesse held her and rubbed her back, trying to comfort her.
"More writing." Amy pointed.
"Play the game."
"What game!" Xander demanded.
"My game, my house, my rules. Play the game."
"This house is a fraternity house." Amy pointed out. "The school owns it."
"Mine now."
"Something's possessing the house?" Faith exclaimed.
"Mine! Play with me!"
"Beginning to sound like a kid throwing a temper tantrum." Xander observed.
"Xander." Faith said. "We should be able to hear other people, right? You can hear a fly buzzing three rooms away and Rory's done those blind fold exercises with me too to force my hearing range to extend, but I can't hear anything other than us."
"I'm not hearing anything either." Xander agreed after a moment of trying to. "Oz's band is supposed to be playing, we should be able to hear them. Amy can't taste any Magic, you and I can't hear anything but Cordy's super sniffer is still working. This room is isolated from the rest of the house somehow and for all we know, all of the rooms and everyone in them has been isolated as well. What kind of game is this?"
"Fun for me." Appeared on the mirror.
"Someone's fucking with us on purpose." Faith growled. "For their own amusement. What are the rules?" She demanded. "You said, your house, your rules? What are the rules?"
"Figure it out."
"Figure what out?" Amy asked.
"The way out. I will help if you ask, but there is a price."
"So there is a way out." Xander said. "But if we can't figure it out, we can ask for help, but you'll expect something for that help. Am I clear on that?"
"Yes."
"Did anyone bring a cell phone?" Faith asked. "We could call Diana or Mrs. S or Rory and they could get us out that way."
"I've got mine." Cordelia pulled it out and started punching in a number, then swore and dropped it and shook her hand.
"Cordy?" Xander asked anxiously. "Are you alright?"
"It got red hot. My hand's a little burned. I'll be alright."
"Cheating. Figure it out yourselves." The words appeared on the mirror.
