Blythe hummed to herself, currently restocking the shelves around the shop.

"You seem more chipper than usual today Blythe." Mrs. Twombly commented.

"Well I did manage to ace my pop quiz yesterday, get a good night's sleep, and with how sunny it is out, I'm thinking about taking the pets out for an early walk. If that's alright with you Mrs. Twombly."

"Fantastic idea, the pets could use the fresh air." she smiled with her hands together. "If you'd like, why don't you go ahead and get something for yourself? I'll give you some extra money."

"Oh, you don't have to do that Mrs. Twombley."

"I insist, you've been working so hard."

"Well...alright." She took the money and was getting the leashes. "We'll be back a little later."

And then Blythe left the pet shop. Seeing that the coast was clear, she started calling someone.

"Hello? Yes it's me, Blythe's out and should be gone for a little bit. Do you have any plans right now?"

"Not right now, I'll be right there." came a familiar male voice on the other end. "See you there Muffin~"

Mrs. Twombly giggled hearing that. "See you soon~"

A few minutes later we see Mrs. Twombly's guest enter the store.

"So, ready?" smiled Blythe's dad in his casual clothes.

"Roger, looking even more handsome everytime I see you." smiled the older woman as she wrapped her hands around his arm and let him lead them outside.

"So, what do you got planned for us this time?" He said to her.

"Well, I heard about this new cafe that opened up a few blocks away and thought it might be nice to stop by."

"Sounds nice, hope they do latte art."

With that the two of them walked down the sidewalk with smiles, just enjoying the bright day and birds tweeting.

"A middle aged man and a senior citizen?" Said some random citizen.

"They're both old, so I don't care." Said another.

The two adults didn't bear any remarks on the way, just happy to be like this. So, how did Blythe's father Roger Baxter and Blythe's boss Anna Twombly become an item? Well it's very simple. There is a dark energy field that unleashes-

"Shut up." Said the reader.

Okay fine, but I gotcha didn't I? Anyways, they've interacted plenty of times and Roger's skills as a...in his own words "playah"...was able to win over Mrs. Twombly. And given how he literally lives above her store, how could he NOT get the older shopkeep to get smitten? Though they wanna keep their relationship secret from Blythe for now. I mean, it might seem odd and weird to her.

Back to their date we see them laughing together as Roger finishes a story from work.

"And I tried to tell him, but he didn't listen. Next thing you know the toilet paper is sticking out from the pilot's area and everyone onboard couldn't stop laughing."

"Oh Roger, your friends are so funny."

"They're the best kind in this line of work."

"And you're certainly the best of the best."

"Oh you." he smiled with a blush right as they reached the cafe. They walked inside, people a little confused but didn't question if there was a big or small age difference. Both went ahead and took a table while the waitress walked over with a smile.

"Mew, mew, welcome to the pet girl maid cafe, what can I get for you, owner?" Said a waitress dressed like a cat maid.

"Wow, that's quite the outfit." he smiled.

"Awww, it's precious."

"Well, we're trying to introduce some Japanese ideas to America."

"I love it."

"Me too."

"So, what would you two like to drink?"

After ordering, the waitress left them alone.

"So, how's Blythe?"

"Oh she's been doing wonderful with the pets."

"Great, maybe I should get Blythe, her very own pet. I'm thinking about giving her a squirrel."

Meanwhile at the park...

"Huh? A-achoo!" Shivers sneezed. "Oh no, is it getting cold out? I need shelter!"

Back to Roger and Twombly...

"So I really gotta ask, why do you refer to yourself as Mrs. Twombly? I don't see a ring on your finger, at least not yet. Wouldn't it make more sense to call yourself Miss Twombly?"

"Well...it's kind of embarrassing." she admitted with a blush as she looked away. "You'd think I'm being silly."

"Come-on, just tell me, I won't tell anyone else." he smiled as she fiddled with her hands.

"Well...I felt a bit self conscious. When I got more and more older, and wasn't married because I wanted to focus more on the pet shop, I felt like I'd stick out more if people didn't think I might have been married. I was worried they might think I was...odd."

"What? That's not odd."

"You're just saying that."

"No, I get what you mean. I get what you mean." he reassured her. "Honestly it's not that hard to feel self conscious about that sort of thing. I was the same way before I met Blythe's mom. I used to go and buy myself flowers and send them to myself on valentine's day to make it seem like I had a girlfriend outside of town."

"Really?"

"Yep, so don't worry, you're not alone." he chuckled. "I'm actually kinda glad. Thought I was gonna have to fill some pretty big shoes if you were already married before."

"What, were you worried you wouldn't 'stack up' to a past lover?"

"Well...yeah, actually."

"Well, aren't you glad you don't have to worry anymore?" She said, then pecked his left cheek.

"Like you wouldn't believe."

Both smiled while staring at each other until the waitress broke their silence with their orders.

"Here you two are." And then she handed them their lattes.

Roger's latte art resembling Zoey and Twombly's latte art resembling Russell.

"Oooh, that's so adorable."

"Yes, but how do these people know what Russell and Zoey look like?" Said Roger.

"That's...a good question." remarked the older woman.

But anyways, they continued conversing while enjoying their latte. With Roger making her laugh a few times with some of his best jokes. That's when they noticed Blythe walking past the cafe windows. Their eyes widened before quickly ducking down under the table.

"Aww, what a cute idea for a cafe, but it looks like I'll have to try it out at a different time." She said as she saw the sign that said no pets allowed.

"What's a cafe?" asked Penny, a leash attached to her along with the other pets.

"It's a restaurant that sells coffee, and it's also a place where people can pretend to be cool and trendy."

"Oh! Can we try some?" asked Vinnie.

"No, coffee has something called caffeine, drink it and it'll be similar to your sugar rush incident."

They all shivered at that.

"Nevermind."

And so they walked away, Roger and Twombly checking if the coast was clear.

"Phew, that was close." sighed Roger.

"Phew, don't want her to know about us just yet."

"We better finish up the coffee and stop somewhere else in case she comes back."

And so they finished their coffee and were now walking to the movie theater.

"I wonder sort of films they have out today."

The movie selection today was a lot to be desired...

"The Japanese Live Action Death Note, The Netflix Live Action Death Note, The Grim Adventures of Light Yagami..." Roger listed off with confusion. "I'm not familiar with these."

"Well, by the looks of things, they're all starring the same guy."

"Hey, I don't recommend the live action movies." Said a nerd. "Watch the 3rd one."

"Oh, why thank you young man."

And so they found their movie choice.

"Two please."

"Good choice, this is the good reboot." Said the ticket seller. "Have fun you two."

Later at the theater...

"Shonen Jump in collaboration with Cartoon Network presents...The Grim Adventures of Light Yagami."

"Whomever's name is written in the Death Note shall die." Said Light, skeptic.

"Ooh, spooky..." Said Twombly.

"Hey mon! I see you've taken a liking to me Death Note." Said Grim.

"Who the heck are you?"

"I'm Grim, a Shinigami."

"Shinigami, a death god? I figured you'd come here."

"Yes mon, and now we're best friends forever."

"So you're just gonna haunt me? Are my parents aware of your presence?"

"Nope, only you can see me mon, but you better not let anyone else touch me Death Note otherwise they'll see me too and realize something suspicious about you."

"That would be a burden with what I have in store for the world." he gave a dark smile.

Sometime after the movie ended…

"That was a good movie. Loved the group dynamic between the kid and Jamaican Death." Said Roger.

"Although it did feel a bit morbid for my tastes." admitted Mrs. Twombley.

"Yeah, but at least he didn't get caught, and I'm curious on where the sequel goes with the teaser of some goth lolita idol." Said Roger.

"Sounds like another date in the future."

That's when they had to duck again because they noticed Blythe walking by. Going behind a crowd passing by, they followed along while keeping their heads down.

Zoey was picking up 2 familiar scents but decided to say nothing. "Hey Blythe, can we watch a movie?" Asked Zoey.

"Are you guys even into anime?"

"What's that?" Asked Vinnie

"I'll show you later." And so they walked away, allowing the couple to poke their heads out of the crowd.

"Phew, that was too close." "So where to next?" Asked Twombly.

"One more place."

Later at the Flea Market...

"Let's see if we can find some goodies for my muffin."

They saw some extra large taffy. "Taffy log, get your taffy log!"

They saw some unique board games. "Wanna play Shash and Belt? What about Croco-Dodge?"

They even saw a booth selling charms. "Hey man, who wants some protection charms? They're super fashionable."

"Oh my. They have so many wonderful things." Smiled the mature woman. "I wouldn't know where to start."

"What about over here, a nice painting for the happy couple?" Asked an artist.

"How's that sound, muffin?" winked Roger making her chuckle.

"Sounds like fun." And so they went over to the artist.

"My good man, we'd like your finest painting of us both."

"Great to hear." Said the artist.

30 minutes later...

"Aaaand...done." he smiled, setting the brush down before showing the two.

"Uh..." They were both takem aback by the artist's unique art style.

"I think I really captured your charms with this one."

"I-I don't h-have boobs that big!" Said Mrs. Twombly, hands on her cheeks while blushing.

"Also, why did you paint us having sex?" Asked Roger, just as surprised.

"Didn't you see my sign? It says I only do art that's for ages 18 and up."

"That's so...obscene!" Said Mrs. Twombly.

"So, do you want this painting?"

"Yes, we'll take it." Roger groaned.

"Roger, what are you doing?!" She gasped.

"We've been running into my daughter all day, last thing she needs to see is pornographic art of us on display." he remarked. "I'd hate to try and explain to her if she came across it by accident."

"Good point."

Sometime later, they notice hobos gathered around a trashcan fire.

"Uh...hey there gentlemen, mind if we burn this embarrassing portrait?" Asked Roger.

"Sure thing, more fuel to the toasty fire."

They chucked it in, causing the blaze to grow before the two walked away.

"Problem solved." Said Roger as they were nearing the pet shop.

"This was a fun date." Said Mrs. Twombly.

"You said it muffin." He smiled while she giggled.

"I really need to come up with a nickname for you."

"And I'll love any nickname you give me." He received a kiss on the cheek for that.

"Mmmm, you're so sweet." she smiled while hugging his arm closer while resting her head against it. "How about...darling?"

"Perfect." He replied.

They shared one last kiss before going their separate ways.

A little bit later, Blythe returned. "We're back Mrs. Twombly, did anything exciting happen while I was out?"

"Oh, nothing." She replied.

'Nothing...right...' Thought Zoe with a knowing smirk.

"How were you and the pets?"

"Oh you know, same old, same old."

"Great to hear."

Mrs. Twombly watched as Blyhte returned the pets to the Daycamp. "Did you have fun outside? You didn't run into anything...odd, did you?"

"Not really."

"Good, I sometimes worry about you, ya know."

"Okay mom, I'll be getting back to stocking shelves." She rolled her eyes with a joking smile.

'Mom...I like the sound of that.' she thought with a smile as Blythe headed out.
