Royal Rescue
Normal POV
Hiccup and Mpho stood there in shock and silence as they both stared at the two unconscious royals. "How is this possible?" Hiccup spoke up, breaking the silence.
"Our fishermen found them floating on debris on the east side of our island. It's a good thing we brought them here before anything terrible happened to them." Throk explained.
Hiccup then went over to Iduna's side before kneeling down to look over her unconscious form. Despite seeing her clothing recently soaked, he noticed that she was looking a little malnourished. "Are they injured?" He asked, looking at Mala and Throk.
"They're in a coma." The queen of Caldera Clay answered. "Our healers did their best but now it's up to them if they'll wake up or not." Mala added.
Hiccup then began to breath heavily, realizing that Agnarr and Iduna were now like this because he didn't search enough that day. Without saying anything, he then stood up and ran out of the healing center. "Hiccup!" Mpho shouted before running after him. "Hiccup, wait!" The former slave said before he caught up to the dragon rider who stop before looking down at the ground.
"I should've kept searching for them." Hiccup said with tears threatening to come out.
"Hiccup?" Mpho asked in concern.
"I should've kept searching that day." The former viking whimpered. "It's my fault. They were put in a coma which they might not wake up from and it's all my fault!" Hiccup said loudly.
"Hey!" Mpho said, moving to face Hiccup before placing his hands on his shoulders. "Listen to me. It's not your fault, okay." He reasured the prince. "What happened to them is not your fault. Just be glad that they're still alive, okay." Mpho told Hiccup, who began to calm down. "Now, let's try to get them back to Arendelle. Elsa and Anna would probably be happy to see their parents alive." He suggested.
"Alright." Hiccup nodded before they both turned to see Mala and Throk walking towards them. "Thank you, Mala. We'll be bringing them back to Arendelle so they can get some more treatment." He told the Queen.
"I don't think it might be wise to do that now." Mala said, confusing the two before pointing the direction behind them. Hiccup and Mpho turned to see that there was actually a huge storm coming their way. "It might be best if you and your friend stay here until the storm passes." She suggested.
Hiccup was about to speak against her but when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned to face Mpho who was shaking his head at him. "Mala is right, Hiccup. We need to wait out until the storm is over." The blacksmith apprentice said to the dragon.
"But Elsa-" Hiccup tried to speak but was cut off again.
"Elsa will be fine, okay." Mpho reasured him. "All that matters is staying safe until the storm passes. Once it's over, we'll head back to Arendelle immediately." The former slave added.
Hiccup wanted to speak against this but he knew that Mpho and Mala were right. "You're right." He sighed. "Flying into a storm like this would not only slow us down, but would also lead us off course as well." Hiccup added before turning to face Mala and Throk. "Mala, is there a place that is stable enough to keep our dragons safe from the storm?" He asked.
"Yes actually. We have an emergency shelter we design for emergencies like this. You and your dragons can stay there while the storm passes." Mala offered. "Throk will lead you there. It's just by the healing center." She said, gesturing to Throk.
"Thank you, Mala." Hiccup smiled.
Come, Hiccup Haddock. We must not waste time before the storm hits." Throk said, gesturing him, Mpho, and the dragons to follow along.
Before he could follow them, Hiccup turned to face the direction he, Mpho, and the dragons came from before sighing. 'Don't worry Elsa. I'll be back soon enough.' He thought before following the group.
-Arendelle-
Elsa's POV
It's been almost five days since Hiccup left, along with Mpho, and I was becoming more worried if something might have happened to them, especially Hiccup. I just hope he would come back in time before my coronation. Right now, I was nervously pacing around my room, trying to keep my under control but it was becoming even harder to do so. Everytime my magic would spike, I would try to use the same method I used like last time keep them contained, think of the memories of me and Hiccup spending time together. Even though I was doing my best to stay calm, I decided to keep myself isolated in my room again but not the whole time because I know Hiccup wouldn't want me to stay coop up in here the whole time. Everytime I would come out of my room, I would also distance myself from everyone, including Anna just to be safe. As I was deep in my thoughts, I was suddenly brought back to reality when I heared knocking on my door. "Who is it?" I asked anxiously.
"Princess Elsa. It's Stoick, Hiccup's Father." Stoick answered which caught me by surprise. The real question was what did he even want.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Just want to have a talk with you, lass. May I come in?" He asked in return.
"Uh... yes. Yes, of course." I replied. I was actually very curious of what he had to say to me. I've already managed to speak with everyone from Hiccup's tribe except for Astrid and his father. I watched as Stoick tried to enter my chambers but was unable to due to the door frame being too small for his large size. I was about to ask if he needed help but watched as he managed to squeezed his large body through the small door frame, causing it to break in the process.
"Sorry about that." Stoick said as he quickly fixed his helmet and just stood there as we both stared at each other awkwardly. "So... you're the one who captured my son's heart?" He asked
"Yes." I answered with a nod. "And you're the so called Stoick the Vast?" I said to him.
"Hiccup told you about me?" Stoick asked me curiously.
"Only that you tossed him aside and viewed him as a disappointment." I scowled with my arms crossed.
Hiccup's father look down in shame from what I said to him. "A mistake I regret doing." He added.
I kept staring at him with a stern look until I sighed, knowing that I can't hold a grudge against him any longer. "But be glad that asked your son to try and forgive you." I stated calmly, making Stoick look at me with a surprised look on his face.
"I... I'm not even sure if he'll try to forgive me after everything I did to him." Hiccup's father said to me as he went over and sat on the edge of my bed. "I failed him as a father. I fear that he doesn't want me in his life now." He said with a sad look.
I couldn't help but feel sympathy for the large viking as I went over and slowly sat down next to him. "Look, I know you weren't a good father to him, but this was in the past." I said, looking at him. "You still have a chance to fix your mistakes with him in the future." I added.
After my words hit his ears, he then turned to look at me with hopeful eyes. "You... you really think so?" He asked.
"I do." I smiled. "Just give him some time." I added.
Stoick looked down for a moment to think about what I said to him before looking at me again. "You really love my son. don't you?" He asked.
"With all my heart." I smiled as I toyed with the betrothal necklace."You know, he told me that this is the same betrothal necklace you gave to his mother as her betrothal gift." I added, waiting for his answer.
"Aye. I remembered the day I gave her that necklace was the best of her life." Stoick sighed with a smile.
As I smiled in return, I then remember that Hiccup never told me about his mother so I thought that this would be the right moment to ask his father about her. "You know, Hiccup never told us a lot about his mother. You mind telling me about her?" I asked.
Stoick sighed for a moment before answering. "His mother's name was Valka and she was a special woman. She was the love of my life." He began as I saw him smile again. "The day I first met her was a was of the best moments of my life. But where she came from was unknown to me." He explained more about Hiccup's mother to me.
"Yeah, Hiccup told me that your tribe never knew of her origin." I said to him. "He also told me that he reminded you of her a lot. Was that true?" I asked.
"Indeed. His mother actually thought that peace between us and dragons was possible, but we were too stubborn to listen." Stoick confirmed. "On the day she found out that she was pregnant with Hiccup, it was the most happiest day for the both of us." He smiled, remembering the memory of that day before I saw his smile turn into a frown. "But then everything took a dark turn on her." Stoick stated, leaving me confused.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Hiccup came too early." He replied, making me wide eyed. "Valka feared that he wouldn't make it due to how weak and fragile he was." He explained. I never knew that Hiccup was born early and almost didn't make it. "But I reassured her that he would be the strongest of us all... and even after everything I did to him. It turned out that I was right all along." He explained to me while I was surprised that my boyfriend managed to survive after he was born. "The day he pulled through was the happiest day of her life. Everything was perfect for us." Stoick finished before frowning. "But it all went down when a dragon took her away from us." He sighed while looking down, sadly.
Normal POV
Elsa couldn't help but feel sorry for Stoick after everything she heard from him. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked." She apologized.
"Don't be. I'm just glad to have someone else to talk to." He reassured her before they both stayed quiet. After being silent for one minute, Stoick decided to change the subject. "Elsa." Stoick said, getting the princess' attention. "I just want you to know that... if Hiccup ever decides to give me a second chance, I would be happy to have you as my daughter-in-law." He smiled.
Elsa was taken back by what the chief said to her before she smiled in return. "Thank you, Stoick." She said to him. Then out of nowhere, Elsa was then pulled in a hug by Stoick which caught her off guard. She hesitated at first but then relaxed and hugged the chief back with a smile.
After a couple seconds of hugging, the two then pulled away before Stoick placed a hand on Elsa's shoulder. "Thank you... for being there for my son." The chief said to her, who did nothing but smile at him. Stoick then patted Elsa's shoulder before getting up to exit the room. Before he could, the chief then squeezed his out through the door way, damaging it even more. "Again, sorry about that." He quickly apologized before walking away. Elsa simply stared at the damaged door frame and knew that it was no big deal because it can be repaired. Unknown to her, a certain blonde shieldmaiden was ear dropping on her and Stoick earlier.
-Two days later-
The next two days has kinda been a little easier for Elsa. After her talk with Stoick, the two have been getting along so well and it kinda made it easier for her to control her powers. As for Stoick, the chief has been speaking with the princess who stole his son's heart a lot lately and was glad that he was getting along with his future daughter-in-law. Not only that, but the Berkian has been hanging around with Anna lately and the chief was impressed with the younger princess' strength, especially when he saw her attack Tuffnut a week ago and even stated that she would make a good shield maiden which she accepted as a complement.
Right now, Elsa was in her chambers, looking out the window while she was thinking about Hiccup. 'I hope you make it back in time, my love. My coronation is also here and I don't think I can go through it with out you. I need you, Hiccup.' She thought to herself.
-Cauldra Clay-
It's been two days since Hiccup and Mphon arrived on Cauldra Clay and the storm has not even passed yet. Ever since they arrived, Hiccup was worried about Elsa a lot lately and all he wanted to due was to return to her, along with her parents, as soon as possible but due to the storm that's still continuing, he had to wait even more which was frustrating for him. Right now, Hiccup was in the emergency shelter, along with Mpho who was asleep, and just kept to himself as he thought about his girlfriend, wondering if she was alright. 'Soon Els. Once this storm is over, I will reunite you and your sister with your parents and have you in my arms once again. I promise.' Hiccup thought to himself. His thoughts were then soon interrupted when Toothless, who was laying right beside him, layed his head on Hiccup's lap and crooned concernly at him. "I'm okay, bud. Just worried." He smiled, putting a hand on Toothless' head. Then out of nowhere, the entranced of the emergency shelter slammed open, making Mpho fall off the bed in the process. Hiccup turned to see one of the defenders standing there with wide eyes. "What is it? Is there something wrong?" Hiccup asked.
"The king and queen." The defender replied.
"What's wrong with them? Are they okay?" He kept asking, Mpho sitting up on his knees while unaware of the situation.
"They're awake." He simply replied, making both Hiccup and Mpho go wide eyed before looking at each other.
After just a couple of seconds, the two ran out of the emergency shelter, quickly making their way to the healing center while getting soaked due to the heavy rain outside. Once the two made it, they gasped as they caught the sight of Agnarr and Iduna sitting up... awake. "Your majesties!" Hiccup exclaimed, getting the royals attention.
"Hiccup? Mpho?" Iduna questioned, unsure if the boy was real.
"Yes, It us." He replied, reassuring them that they were real.
Agnarr and Iduna both smiled as they were happy to see they two before they looked at their surroundings, unfamiliar with where their at. "Where are we?" Agnarr questioned.
"We're on Mala's island. She said her fishermen found you adrift while in a coma and contacted us instantly." Mpho answered.
"A-adrift?" Iduna asked in confusion.
Hiccup then immediately noticed that the two didn't know what happened and figured that they suffered from memory loss. "I don't know how to say this but... you two have been gone for almost a month." He answered, waiting for their answer.
Agnarr and Iduna became confused even more. "A month? That's impossible, we left about..." Agnarr began but stopped as he started remembering the ship being capsized in the dark sea. "Oh my god." He gasped with wide eyes.
"Agnarr?" Iduna asked her husband in concern.
"The ship." He stated. "The ship! We were trying to make our way towards Ahtohallan through the dark sea but the storm caused the waves to capsize us." He claimed, causing Iduna to become wide eyed as she finally remembered what happened at the dark sea.
"There weren't any survivors." Hiccup stated, getting the royals attention. "Three weeks after you guys left, we figured that something might of happened. So me and Toothless volunteered to search for you." The dragon rider explained to them. "When Toothless and I made it to the dark sea, we found nothing but Anton who was the only survivor. When he told me about you two, I was heartbroken." He finished.
Agnarr and Iduna were taken aback from what Hiccup said to them and immediately asked about their daughters, especially Elsa. "What about Elsa and Anna? How did they take the news?" Iduna asked.
"They were both devastated when they found out and Elsa couldn't bring herself to go to the funeral while loosing control but I managed to comfort her as best I could." Hiccup replied.
"Well, we're glad you were there for them, especially Elsa when she needed you. How is she anyway?" Agnarr asked, wondering about his oldest daughter.
"She's doing okay. Just a bit overwhelmed." The dragon rider replied.
"What do you mean?" Iduna quesationed.
"Well, you see. After everyone assumed that you two were gone, we've been preparing for Elsa's coronation to become queen which is happening in a few days." Hiccup answered.
"Already?" Both royals asked at the same time.
"Yeah but... that's not the only thing." He replied.
"What do you mean?" Agnarr asked.
"Agnarr, Iduna. Something actually happened." Hiccup answered before he started explaining.
Hiccup's POV
It took me a few minutes of telling Agnarr and Iduna everything regarding my former tribe and it actually surprised both of them. "And that's basically everything." I finished.
"So after everything, you're basically okay with them, now?" Agnarr asked me.
"Well... you see. The only person I was still having trouble adjusting to is my father because of what he put me through and even though Elsa told me that I should give him a chance, I don't know if I can." I replied. "What should I do?" I asked.
"Well, honestly dear, I think you should." Iduna replied.
"You really think so?" I asked.
"Of course." Iduna smiled. "You know, whenever Elsa was in the same situation you are in now, I would tell her 'Don't let the shadows of your past darken the doorstep of your future. Forgive and forget' to help ease her. I'm sure it would do the same for you." Iduna answered, telling me the same exact words that Elsa told me.
"Huh." I simply said.
"What?" The queen asked me with a confused look.
"Nothing. It's just that... those were the same words that Elsa told me." I replied.
"Really?" She asked, surprised.
"Yeah." I smiled before taking a deep breath. "Alright, once we get back to Arendelle, I'll talk with my father and see what I can do." I added.
"Atta boy, Hiccup." Agnarr smiled.
"Now, all we have to do is to wait out this storm, how long that'll take." I simply said as thunder was heard.
"How long has it been storming?" The queen asked.
"For like two days." I heard Mpho answered.
"Two days?!" They both said at the same time.
"Yeah." I replied.
"But if it's been storming for two two days, how were you two able to get here?" Iduna asked us.
"Oh, we've actually arrived before the storm started." Mpho replied.
"Well... it's a good thing you two got here before the storm started." The king replied.
"Yeah." I replied. "Now, while we're waiting, I believe there's someone who will be happy to see you, your majesty." I said to Iduna.
"Who?" She asked me.
I then simply turned to face Mpho. "Go and bring over Viola." I asked the former slave who just nodded before leaving. After it felt like a minute, Mpho came back with both Viola and Toothless following him. When Iduna saw Viola walking, I watched as the queen became happy to see her dragon again.
"Viola!" Iduna smiled, catching the attention of her dragon who squawked happily, seeing her rider alive, before rushing over to her. "Oh my beautiful girl. I missed you." The queen said as she caressed her dragon.
"She seems very happy to see you." I smiled.
Iduna stopped caressing Viola before looking at me and Mpho. "I'm guessing our deaths had an affect on our dragons?" Iduna asked us.
"Yes, actually. Both Viola and Phoenix were never the same after they heard about you too." Mpho answered. "We tried our best to find new riders for them but they would just refuse them because none of them were like you two. But don't worry, we made sure they were both taken care off." The blacksmith apprentice added.
"And where's Phoenix may I ask?" Agnarr asked, wanting to know the whereabouts of his dragon.
"He's back in Arendelle. I promise you Agnarr, when we get back we'll have you reunited with your dragon." I assured him. "For now, let's just wait until the storm passes." I added.
"I believe that's the best choice for now." The replied as I nodded in returned. For the rest of the day, we just simply waited for the storm to pass.
Normal POV
When everyone woke up in the morning of the next day, they looked outside to see that the storm has finally passed and that the storm has finally passed. "It stopped. It finally stopped." Mpho stated.
"Finally." Hiccup smiled. After packing up and ate breakfast that was offered by Mala, the four were finally ready to leave. "Alright everyone, time to go." Hiccup said to everyone before turning to Iduna. "Your majesty, it might be best you let Mpho do the flying since your still weak." He said to the queen.
"I'll have to agree on that one." Iduna replied back.
"And Agnarr, you'll be riding with me." Hiccup said to the king, who just nodded as they both got on Toothless while Mpho and Iduna got on Viola. "Alright, are we ready?" He asked everyone who just nodded. "Alright." The dragon rider simply said. Before they could leave, they spotted Mala coming over towards them. "Thank you, Mala. For what you did for them." Hiccup said, while gesturing to the king and queen of Arendelle.
"Anything for our friends and allies." The queen of the defender of the wing replied with a smile. "My the ancients be by your side Hiccup Haddock and give princess Elsa my apologies for not coming to her coronation." Mala told the dragon rider.
"I will." Hiccup nodded before locking his foot in the peddle. "Let's go bud." He told his dragon who shot up in the air with Viola following behind. 'Arendelle, here we come.' Hiccup thought with a smile.
-Three days later-
After about three days of flying, the four riders and the two dragons were about to make it back to the kingdom on time, but were forced to delay because of another storm that was stronger than the last one. Only this time, they were forced to take shelter in a cave of a nearby island. Once inside, Hiccup made sure that everyone was okay. "Is everyone okay?" He asked.
"We're good." Agnarr replied as helped his wife climb off of Viola.
"So... what now?" Mpho asked as he walked up to Hiccup.
The former viking looked out the cave entrance to check out the storm. "Well... since it looks like the storm is stronger than the last one. It's best to wait this one out like we did on Cauldra Clay." He replied. "Alright everyone. Get some rest we're gonna be here for a while." He said before looking out the entrance again. 'I promise Els, I'll be back as soon as I can.' Hiccup thought to himself.
-Arendelle-
Back in Arendelle, Elsa was standing in her chambers while looking out the wondering where Hiccup was. What worried her the most was that her coronation was in two days and knew that she couldn't do it without Hiccup beside her.
"Where are you, Hiccup? You promised that you'll be back." The princess said to herself. "Please Hiccup, I need you. I can't do this without you." Elsa said in a worry tone.
"Come back to me, my love." She simply stated as she held her betrothal necklace in her gloved hands.
Author's Note: Hey guys and I apologize for taking forever to write this chapter. The truth is that I was having trouble what to write for this one. You see, I actually knew what to write for the Hiccup part mostly but was having trouble with what to write for the Elsa part until GuestofFire posted an idea for that part in the reviews and really appreciate it man. I also really like your idea as well Mewx42 and I'm actually going to use that one for the next chapter since it will mostly be about Elsa's coronation.
Anyway, I hope you guys like this chapter and I apologize for not making it longer. If you have suggestions for me to make it longer, I am happy to use them. Also, should I use a different title for this chapter because I feel like it doesn't match at all and I couldn't think of anything besides Royal Rescue.
Anyway, stay safe and I'll see you guys on the next chapter.
