It was the Spring Fling in Liberty High School, students were dancing and having fun, it was a special occasion for them since they could finally shift their focus from their school obligations and personal problems.

Clay and his friends were there as well, Clay finally had a chance to let loose and have fun. Hannah's suicide affected everyone in the group in some way, it was devastating for Clay because he was in love with her and regretted not being able to save her. The group was having fun at the dance until Mackenzie, Tyler's former girlfriend showed them her phone on which a text was visible. Clay immediately knew what it meant, it seemed like Tyler was planning a school shooting.

Clay immediately decided to try and prevent it

"Justin, find Jessica, lock the doors, stay inside and don't call the police. I gotta find Tony" after he said that Clay turned and headed towards the exit

"Clay, what the fuck?" Zach demanded

Tyler was outside, taking out his machine gun and was fully armed, he was about to head towards the entrance of the gym. He saw Clay running towards him

"Tyler! Tyler, what are you…what are you doing?"

Tyler didn't answer, he held his machine gun and began walking towards Clay

"Get out of here Clay, go home" Tyler said in a calm voice

"No, no I…don't do this Tyler" Clay said trying to convince him

Tyler stood in front of him, he was completely calm and composed

"You need to leave right now" Tyler said before trying to reach the entrance again, however Clay stood in front of him once again

"Tyler please, just listen to me, you don't wanna do this. I know you don't"

"You don't fucking know anything about me" Tyler said, now slightly annoyed

"No, no I do! I do know because, because I hurt you and I'm pissed off and I didn't realize how bad it was for you and I'm sorry that I didn't."

"Clay!" Clay heard someone calling his name and saw Justin and Jessica run in front of the entrance

"Hey, hey, go back inside" Clay demanded

"Jesus Clay!" Justin demanded

Tyler pointed a gun at them

"GO INSIDE!" Clay motioned at them and they certainly didn't hesitate to run back inside

After that he stood in front of Tyler again

"Get out of my fucking way" Tyler said, clearly losing his patience

"Tyler, please don't do it!" Clay pleaded with Tyler

"I have to" Tyler responded

"No, you don't have to. You can turn around, you can go home"

However both Clay and Tyler heard the police sirens in the distance

"Everyone knows already" Tyler said before walking towards Clay again

"No, no, no, no, the only people who know are the people who know you and they want to help you."

"Bullshit" Tyler primed his gun and began pushing Clay back

"Tyler, they know. They know you're hurting and we all are, and, and I don't know what to do about it either. Okay, but I tried hurting other people, right? I tried hurting you, and it didn't fucking help man, it doesn't do any good. Listen to me! It-"

BANG!

Clay's eyes went wide, he looked down and saw he was shot in the stomach, some blood oozed from the wound, he looked back up at Tyler with absolute horror written all over his face

"I won't kill you Clay, but I can't let you interfere"

Clay fell unconscious to the ground before Tyler even finished his sentence, Tyler then moved towards the entrance

Justin and Jessica were about to head out after they heard the gunshot, however Tyler entered the gym and confronted them

"What the fu-" Justin aksed before he was shot, he immediately fell on the ground, Tyler then shot Jessica in the head, killing her instantly

Upon seeing Justin and Jessica getting shot and fall to the ground all of the students started running in different directions, however Tyler already opened fire and killed 24 students.

Some of Bryce's friends were stunned as they saw his body on the ground, blood oozing from his wounds, they didn't even have time to run as Tyler gunned them all down 3 seconds later. He then headed towards the exit of the gym and in the hallway

Alex was hidden in the toilet along with Cyrus and Mackenzie, still trying to collect himself after what he just saw. He saw Zach getting killed by Tyler right in front of him, he considered both Zach and Tyler his friends so that hurt all the more. He was breathing heavily, barely containing himself from panicking as he listened to the sounds of gunshots and people screaming.

"Get a hold of yourself man!" Cyrus grabbed him by the arm

"How…how did it come to this…there has to be a reason why Tyler is doing all this" Alex whimpered

Cyrus also sighed

"I don't know man, I thought he attended the program. He did, I know he did but what was it that pushed him this far?" Cyrus said

"I have to do something, I can't just sit here" Alex was about to stand up until Cyrus grabbed him again

"Are you mad?! He's gonna kill you!"

"Even if he does, I at least want to try" Alex said before shrugging him off and standing up, he then left the bathroom and went into the hallway

As of right now Tyler killed 52 people and wounded 26, he just got out of a classroom where he killed a few students before heading towards the different direction, that's when he saw Alex standing 10 meters away from him, Tyler suddenly stopped

"Alex, what are you doing here?" Tyler asked

"Why are you doing this Tyler? I thought you came back from the program" Alex questioned

"Because I'm sick of everyone treating me like shit, they think they're so high and mighty, that they can get away with everything. Well not anymore, I've had it!" Tyler was about to turn and go to the other direction until Alex continued

"Listen Tyler, you're not the only one who's suffering, we're all suffering, we all have problems. I just recently stopped using the cane, I tried killing myself, everyone is hurt just like you are. But this isn't the solution, this won't make anything better, this will just get you killed. Tyler, please, just stop, we will find a way for things to be better…just stop, please" Alex said

Alex's words seemed to make Tyler think about his actions, however before Tyler or Alex said anything else a voice was heard behind them

"FREEZE!"

Both Alex and Tyler turned around and saw 2 police officers pointing a gun at Tyler who was still holding the machine gun, Tyler pointed his gun at them

"Drop the gun or we will open fire!" one of the policemen ordered

Tyler shot one of the policemen dead, the other one retaliated by priming his gun and aiming it towards Tyler

"NO!" Alex was about to get Tyler out of the way but it was too late, Tyler was already shot in the forehead and killed, he fell on the ground on his back with his eyes still being open and a trail of blood trickling from the spot where he was shot

"Oh god Tyler!" Alex screamed as he got near him, when he saw his forehead he desperately tried to search for any signs of life, however there were none

"Tyler…no" Alex started crying over his now dead friend, Alex's father, Deputy Standall also arrived on the scene, upon seeing Tyler's dead body with a machine gun still strapped on him he was in absolute disbelief

He knew Tyler was Alex's friend, he liked Tyler as a person and it was hard for him to believe he was the one who killed so many people. However, he also knew Tyler was constantly bullied and that something must have happened to push Tyler over the edge. None of that mattered now, since he knew Tyler was dead.

Deputy Standall approaches Alex who's still crying over Tyler's corpse and crouches near him

"Why didn't you stop him dad?" Alex spoke between sobs

"I didn't know son, I swear. I would have ordered them not to shoot if I knew, we would have saved him somehow. I'm sorry things had to end up like this Alex, I truly am." Deputy said before hugging his son, Alex hugged him back, still crying from the loss of his friend

Meanwhile, Tony was driving Clay to the hospital as fast as he could, a minute after Tyler shot Clay in front of the school Tony arrived with his red Mustang. Upon getting out and seeing clay bleeding on the concrete unconscious he checked his pulse, luckily he was still alive so he carefully put him on the backseat and began driving him to the hospital.

Tony was beyond pissed, he knew Tyler was the one who shot Clay and he almost wanted to kill him. He finally managed to get to the hospital and the doctors took Clay in, Tony spent the entire night in the hospital, he knew his brother needed him by his side.

Clay's parents arrived in the hospital an hour later panicking, they saw Tony sitting near the room where Clay was having a surgery.

"Tony, we came as soon as we heard. How's Clay?" Clay's mom asked in a frantic tone

"I'm not sure Ms. Jensen, he's still on the operating table but it didn't look good" Tony sighed

"But…what exactly happened? How did it come to this?" Clay's dad asked Tony

Tony sighed and explained everything, Clay's parents were in shock, they decided to spend the night in the hospital together with Tony

The night of the Spring Formal, 53 people died including Tyler and 26 were wounded. Among the dead were Zach, Bryce, Courtney, Jessica and Ryan. Marcus was shot in the back, the doctors confirmed he will have to use the wheelchair for the rest of his life. Justin was in critical care and hovered between life and death, however he pulled through in the end.

Clay also survived and was recovering in the hospital, he wasn't able to attend the funerals of his friends because of his condition. He felt guilty for being unable to stop Tyler from shooting up the school but Tony reminded him that he's not God and that some things are beyond his control. He also told Clay that he was lucky to be alive and that he should not to be so reckless in the future

The school was left under national scrutiny, the school board fired principal Bolan and from now on students were attending regular psychiatric evaluations and support. A memorial was made was made for the shooting and for Hannah

Clay and Justin fully recovered, Justin was devastated over Jessica's death. Justin being devastated reminded him of himself when Hannah died, he knew the pain his brother was going through so he did everything in his power to help him pull through.

Justin also started going to the same therapist Clay was going to, 6 months have passed and Justin was getting better mentally and emotionally. In the meantime, Lainie and Matt decided to transfer Clay and Justin to another high school and finish their education there. Clay and Justin had nothing against it because there were too many bad memories in Liberty High, in the twist of fate, it was the same school Skye was transferred to.

Clay and Skye reconciled and after a month of dating were officially in the relationship once again, Justin also met a new girl named Sarah and was able to move on from Jessica, that still didn't mean he forgot about her, he would go to her grave with Clay every month, they also made sure to visit the graves of all of their deceased friends whenever they went to the graveyard.

Alex remained in Liberty High, after he found out Monty raped Tyler which drove him to do this he wanted to kill Monty. However, upon investigation it was revealed Monty sexually assaulted Tyler and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Monty was killed a week later in his cell by an inmate with a shiv

Tony and Alex became best friends and were still in contact with Clay and Justin, they would still hang out whenever they had time. Clay and Justin managed to make new friends in their new school along with Clay reuniting with Skye

When Clay and Justin graduated high school, Clay managed to get into university and study to become a lawyer just like his mother. Justin also got into university and decided to study psychology, he wanted to help people the same way Clay and his parents helped him. They still remained in contact with Alex and Tony from Liberty and some of their friends from the other school, Clay and Skye were still dating as well as Justin and Sarah.

Everything seemed to be getting better as they began living life as adults, however, both Clay and Justin knew they would never forget the night of the Spring Formal as long as they live.

In case you're wondering, Justin doesn't die in this scenario like he did originally. I think his death was just shock value and imo this makes much more sense and is more realistic.

Anyway, the reason I wrote all of this was because I was surprised how unrealistic the ending of season 2 was, if anyone tried to do what Clay did in real life they would have been shot on the spot.

This is just my interpretation of how things would have played out if Tyler indeed shot up the school, let me know what do you guys think in the comments
