Harry takes his daughter, Lily to Macical Menagerie for her birthday.
The Perfect Birthday Present.
Lily Luna Potter gasped at the sight before her as she entered the Macical Menagerie. She darted around the shop at top speed, her keen eyes taking in all the animals that were on display. There were streelers, fire crabs, sleek black rats, owls, ravens, cats, puffskeins of every colour, and much more. Lily quickly made her way over to a large tank where two enormous purple toads sat, feasting on dead blowflies. Beside them sat a gigantic tortoise with a jewel-encrusted back. Lily's smile widened as a ray of sunshine hit the jewels just right, sending a stream of rainbows up against the glass.
Lily made her way along the shelf, taking note of the poisonous orange snails that were oozing a thick mucus on the side of the tank. Next to the snails were a group of flobberworms who were enjoying a meal of lettuce and cabbage.
Lily continued her way down the aisle until she came to a basket of peculiar custard-coloured furballs that were humming loudly. Funnily enough, they reminded her of that Muggle movie that her grandpa showed her: Star Trek. Tribbles, she believed they were called, those funny, round, fuzzy creatures that couldn't stop having babies.
Lily couldn't stop gushing over all of the magical creatures: baby nifflers, owls, ferrets, cats. There were just so many of them! She couldn't contain her excitement. "This is the best birthday present ever!" Lily shrieked. She looked up at her father, Harry, with wide eyes.
"Now, Lily, remember what we talked about? One pet, and you have to look after it. That means feeding it and cleaning up after it. This is going to be your responsibility," Harry explained to her.
"I know, I know," Lily mumbled, already knowing what her birthday present meant; she fully intended on keeping her promise. For a whole year, she had been begging her parents for a pet of her own. James had his owl, and Albus had a ferret, and now, it was her turn to get something to call her own. She already had a name picked out: Seeker.
"Alright, as long as you understand what getting a pet means," Harry said "Take a look around and see what speaks to you. Remember you don't have to get something today. If nothing seems right to you, we can always come back another day."
Lily nodded in understanding as she continued to make her way around the shop, looking at all the amazing creatures that the store had to offer. She spent some time with the kittens before moving on to the pygmy puffs, and then to a bat that was hanging upside down from the ceiling. That's when she saw it: a small white rabbit.
The rabbit whose fur was pure white, like freshly fallen snow on Christmas day, with bright baby-blue eyes that were strangely communicative. It was beautiful, majestic, even. A connection immediately formed between her and the rabbit.
Lily reached out and carefully picked the rabbit up from the basket it was sitting in. She held it in her arms, rocking slightly as if the rabbit were a baby she was trying to soothe.
The white rabbit reached up and gently nibbled on the bottom of Lily's chin, which caused the girl to giggle in delight before she turned to her father. "Dad, this is Seeker. I know he is!" Lily said excitedly.
Harry kneeled down so he was face to face with his daughter, running his hand over the rabbit's soft fur, finding that the white fur sent out a small sparkle when petted. He inquired, "You're sure that this is Seeker?"
"Yes, Dad, this is Seeker. I'm sure of it. He's perfect," Lily said as she held the rabbit tighter in her arms, knowing that she will love this animal for years to come.
"Alright, sweetheart, let's go pay for Seeker, and then we can get some ice cream together before we go home," Harry offered.
"Thank you, Dad! I already love him so much, and I promise I will take good care of him!" Lily clutched the rabbit to her chest and beamed up at her father.
"I know you will, sweetie," Harry replied to his daughter before getting up and paying for the white rabbit.
Lily watched as her father paid for her birthday present, she couldn't wait to get home to show her mom and her two brothers Seeker. Lily could feel that there was something special between her and Seeker.
