Snowball Fight
Hogwarts was well known for their famous snowball fights that took place every winter. No one knew when the fights started or who started it, but with the first snowfall of the season came a snowball fight that the whole school joined in on—even though Professor McGonagall would never admit to having snow fights with students. She would sit up in her office and would charm snowballs at students, and no one would know except for the Weasley twins, who had a bet going with the Professor surrounding who could hit more students. At the beginning, the fights were relatively harmless, but as the years went on, students started bewitching snowballs along with snowmen (and other snow sculptures), and by the end, a couple of students would end up in the hospital wing because someone thought it was a good idea to bewitch icicles and shoot them at people like arrows from a bow.
It was a fresh, crisp December morning. The snow had fallen throughout the night, covering the trees and bushes with a coat of white frost. The air was frosty and bit at everyone's nose and cheeks. Harry, Ron, and Hermione, along with the rest of the Gryffindor house, eagerly slipped on their mittens, coats, scarves, and caps and hurried outside with the rest of the school.
It wasn't long before the trio stepped out into the courtyard, being attacked by snowballs by the Slytherins the moment their boots touched the snow. Hermione quickly cast a shield charm, causing the snowballs to stop inches away from their face before smashing into the invisible wall.
"Harry! Watch out!" Ginny cried out from across the courtyard as a twelve-foot snowman came up behind Harry, its branch-arms stretched out.
Hermione grabbed Harry's hand along with Ron's before running, dodging snowballs as they moved before throwing themselves behind the fountain and ducking behind it as Draco and his two goons pelted snowballs at them.
"For the past two years, we have been beaten by the Slytherins. What makes this year any different?" Ron yelled as he took cover behind the frozen water of the fountain between Harry and Hermione.
"Because we've been planning this for the past two months, and we have a strategy," Hermione replied.
"Hermione's right," Harry said. "We just need to wait for Wood and the rest of the Quidditch team to show up and then we will be able to make our move."
"I'm sure hope you're right. Otherwise, we will be covered in snow like we were last year—and the year before that. I don't know how you can play Quidditch and yet be so bad at throwing a simple snowball" Ron said with an eyeroll.
"Catching a snitch doesn't involve needing any aim," Harry replied heatedly.
"And we can all thank Merlin for that," Ron retorted as Draco and his two goons came closer.
"I didn't think Gryfinndors could be so cowardly," Draco said with a laugh. "Scarhead! I promise I'll make it quick, for you, the mudblood and the blood traitor."
"At least I'm no bleached blond," Hermione yelled back just as the flying of brooms could be heard overhead.
"Filthy Mudblood! I'm a natural!" Draco yelled as he whipped a snowball at the fountain. "You can't stay there all day. You have to come out sometime, and when you do, I'll be waiting!"
"You ready?" Harry asked as Wood came into view with the rest of the Quidditch players from the Gryffindor team.
"So ready," Hermione said with an evil smile as she waved her wand up in the air and created a small snowstorm that gave them cover. Careful, as to make as little as a noise as possible, Hermione, Ron, and Harry made their way out of the bowl of the fountain and behind Draco and his two goons.
The three made their snowballs and aimed, waiting for the snowstorm to come to an end as Wood and the rest of the Quidditch team hovered overhead with their snowballs along with a large bucket of snow.
"Hey, losers!" Harry yelled just as soon as the snowstorm cleared up.
Draco and his two goons turned around only to receive a face full of snow as Harry, Hermione, and Ron threw their snowballs.
"Now!" Harry yelled.
The next thing Draco knew, a large amount of snow was being poured over his head before he was hit with a bunch of snowballs. Once he cleared the snow from his eyes, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were gone.
"Up here," Hemrione called out.
Draco looked up to see the three on brooms.
"Perhaps next year, Malfoy," Harry yelled before throwing one last snowball at Draco and flying away.
