Author Note:
I decided to rewrite chapter 1 and start fresh since the story is just beginning and because I didn't like the pacing. I hope this version is better… I'll be dropping chapters at random due to my poor writing skills and actually getting a job… work sucks.
enjoy. :)
Chapter Rewrite: 1 Strange Meeting
I can't believe I let my guard down like that.
'I shouldn't have let my guard down after helping the spirit!' That was my last train of thought as I was swept away by the beam of light. It all happened so fast, viewing the halls of Krazoa palace fly by. The ancient stone walls covered in long forgotten letters soon became light brown smears in my eyes.
I felt myself hit something hard and then everything went dark…
Consciousness came back to me slowly. First came hearing, the soft pitter patter of rain, with the occasional thunder clap. Second was my sense of smell, I was bombarded with a plethora of scents I've never experienced before, it was nearly overwhelming. Third was touch, I felt my body sinking into a matted soft floor and the warm air. Soon the rest of my senses flowed back and I had only one word to describe my current state.
Heavenly.
However I knew eventually I'd have to open my eyes, even if I felt this comfortable. I knew that I shouldn't be. My last memories were of me blacking out after I hit something. 'What if General Scales had captured me, but why am I not in a cold stone cell… Unless he has other plans!' That train of thought was enough to make my eyes shoot open and for me to sit up straight.
I quickly scanned my surroundings only to be met with a familiar yet inexplicable sight. I was in a dark room, it had beige carpeted flooring, dark navy blue walls and a light yellow tinted popcorn ceiling. I was facing a white door with rectangular designs on it. To my right was a dark wood work desk underneath a window and to my left was a bookshelf made of the same material with a twin bed tucked in the corner. Turning around revealed a black rectangle box with cords leading out of it. One of the wires leads to a strange purple cube?
Lightning snapped my gaze to the window, allowing me to see. It was night time and raining hard outside. The dwelling seemed to be located near a forest with flora I've never seen before.
'Where am I?'
As the lighting settled, my reflection came to view in the window. I was drenched, my blue fur was coated in dust from Krazoa palace and my white under belly was no better. Different parts of my fur were also matted and tangled, my hair was the worst. I made sure to check if I still had my outfit on which, thankfully I did. Nothing was missing, from my gold arm and shin guards, loin cloth, bra and jewelry was there. 'Why did I wear this again? It provides zero to any actual protection!'
After my self assessment. I truly had no idea what to do. I thought about escaping but to where and how? I have no weapon, I don't know the area and General Scales or his goons could be anywhere. I sat and thought for a few minutes before trying the only door. I stood in front expecting the green interaction symbol to appear before me but after ten seconds I abandoned the idea. 'Of course they locked the door, you're in a cell.'
'Ok Krystal, you're in a cell with seemingly no way out, no way to defend yourself and no way to call for help! Oh, and to top it all off, YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FLIPPING FOREST!!! How could things possibly get worse?' Just as I finished my rant my stomach growled due to the lack of food. Groaning myself, I flopped onto the bed defeated.
"Why is my life set up like a freaking challenge?" I asked myself
As if the universe wanted to confirm my suspicion the door to the room opened revealing a hairless creature staring at me. I sprung from the bed and got into a fighting position. "Where am I and what does the General want with me!?" I barked at it.
"... What the actual fuck!" It said before slamming the door shut.
Stunned and not prepared for that outcome, all I could think to do was yell out of annoyance and fear "Hey!". I swiftly made my way to the door to try and listen to the other side. Whatever the creature was, it had not left the other side of the door and was mumbling incoherently.
'I doubt it'll talk to me like this, let alone help me escape… Maybe if I use my telepathy to see into his mind.' With that thought I reached out to its thoughts hoping to retrieve some answers. You see thoughts are like a river, they can flow slow or fast depending on the person, sometimes the river can even split creating to lines of thought. You can also follow the river to the source, but you might see things that you can't unsee if you do…
Yet once I connected to its mind I was left in shock. The creature's mind was like a rainstorm, fractions of thoughts randomly falling and creating pools of ideas. Trying to understand what he was thinking was like collecting rain in a cup then filling a tub one cup at a time! Basically, his mind is unreadable, even animals' thoughts are more coherent.
Unable to read its mind I instead reached out with my emotions. Forcing myself to be as calm as possible and then sharing the feeling with it. This seemed to calm the storm a bit until the link between us was forcefully broken.
"What in-"
"THE FUCK WERE YOU JUST IN MY HEAD!" it screamed from behind the door, startling me a bit.
"Y-yes, you can't keep me locked in here without any answer! Why has the general captured me, and what kind of sapient life form are you?"
"What the hell are you on abo-" it suddenly stopped speaking, then let out a long and I mean long sigh.
"Alright…" he said with sudden calmness. "I'll answer your questions if you promise not to attack me… Deal?"
I thought it over and realized that I gain nothing if I say no. The person behind this door might be the best and only chance to escape, or at least get some answers. My mind made up, I gave my answers.
"Deal."
