Chapter 6: Wrapped Up Like a Present:

Nancy's POV:

Bess and I then arrived at Ali's house.

"What can I do for you two," asks Ali.

"I think I figured out who framed you," I said.

"Really," asks Ali.

"Yeah, and wasn't it nice of Bess to believe you," I said.

"It sure was," says Ali.

"Yes, I felt you were innocent," says Bess.

"Like something in you felt something," asks Ali.

"I bet you're wondering what I found out," I said.

"Right... so, who did it," asks Ali. That's where she was getting nervous.

"You," I said. It wouldn't be the first time someone faked their own frame-up. Remember that thing with the ringmaster?

"What are you talking about," asks Ali.

"You sent that phone call to Charity, hoping you could threaten her," I said, "but then you got scared, so you hung up. Then you thought of a new plan, you stole everything and make it seem like you were framed because you knew Bess would take your side."

"Can you prove it," asks Ali.

"There is one way," I said, "you said you were knocked out. Show us where!"

That's when Ali got scared. "Alright, fine," says Ali, "I was never framed! I mean, of course I wasn't! The footage showed me committing a crime and my fingerprints were everywhere! You'd have to be an idiot to not think I did it!"

"Why did you do it," asks Bess.

"To prove that you still love me," says Ali, "ever since you broke up with me, I couldn't stop thinking about you! We were meant to be! You love me as much as I love you!"

"I knew you were clingy, but I didn't think you were like this," says Bess, "the reason why I believed you is because I thought you were honest!"

"The police should be here," I said.

"Bess, don't let them take me away from you," says Ali. The police then grab her. "Bess! I love you! Bess!"

. . .

"That's what I was afraid of," I said, "and why I insisted on doing this alone."

"I wanted to see for myself," says Bess, "I can't believe that's what Ali's really like."

"Maybe she'll get some help," I said.

"I hope so," says Bess, "I really feel sorry for her."

. . .

We were back at Pop's. "Merry Christmas," I said.

"Merry Christmas," the rest of the crew said.
