Beanie Head And Blue Hair
Hi. More reviews please! Thank you, if you think it's terrible say it's terrible, go into detail as much as you can, if you think it's amazing show appreciation, as much as you want! I wrote this story because I love vanilla romances with nothing special, just cheesy two people meeting each other and getting in a relationship. Cause that's how it is in real life. I want to write a fiction love story that is realistic and not fairy tale cheesy meant to be soul mate type thing. Which is a slice of life.
To those complaining about plot, there is no major plot. This is a slice of life.
Planning to have OC's appear less. None of the OC's are self-inserts of me or people I know, I just thought of generic emo teenagers in 2013. I'm telling you guys because I don't like self-inserts. Again, I'm planning to have them appear less because I believe when a fanfiction about a certain media has an original character that takes up too much role, just doesn't go well with the source media. Or maybe I just don't like them, and I feel like I'm doing it, so. That's all for this chapter's note.
(Ignore if chapter 5 has been out with chapter 4 and you have not read chapter 4 prior.)
UPDATE: Minor dialogue changes from Piper to Marie. Minor wardrobe change for Ed. I misspelled.
May opens her eyes to see her mother.
"Mom-" said May, startled.
"May, I have told you so many times, not to leave the TV on when you're falling asleep!" shouted Kanker's mother, cutting off May. Pointing at the TV.
"I-" said May, sitting up from the couch.
"Are you trying to talk back to me?" yelled Kanker's mom, as she glared at May.
"No.." said May, softly.
"You know how much it costs to leave it open?! Waste of my money!" shouted Kanker's mom, walking to the small table next to the green couch.
Marie slowly woke up to the shouting. Blurry visions, but she can tell she's being yelled at.
"You two, grown-ass teenagers and still too stupid to just turn off the damn TV." yelled Kanker's mom. Turning off the TV after picking up the remote.
"What are you? Kindergarteners? You get your own damn place if you wanna keep the TV open, for god's sake." continuing as she turns back to the two.
Both Marie and May are sitting on the couch. Marie looking up at her mom, and May looking down.
"You got anything to say? May? Marie?" said Kanker's mom as she looked at them both.
"We're sorry." said May and Marie in unison.
"Get the hell up to your room." said Kanker's mom as she pointed at the both of them.
May and Marie both got up and slowly walked up the stairs to their room. Both were silent on the way there, the clock reads 3:06 AM. Their mother usually wakes up at 3 AM to go to her work. They both got on the bed as they tried to fall asleep again.
"Mom scolded ya' two?" said Lee. Her eyes were still closed. Lying in the middle of the bed.
"Uh huh." said Marie. Lying on the right side.
"What did you do?" asked Lee.
"Left the TV on." said Marie.
"That's what you get." said Lee.
"Shut up. I'm trying to sleep." said May.
"... when you let your heart win..." said Marie. Lyrics to a certain song she likes.
"Zip it." said Lee.
They all went silent. It was hard for May and Marie to fall asleep, but eventually after moving around for over half an hour, they did fall asleep.
After god knows how many hours later, Marie slowly wakes up. She is alone in the bed. May is probably up doing something around the house, and Lee is probably at work. Marie loves having the bed to herself, she rolls around in the king-sized bed.
After a few minutes of a half-asleep half-awake state, rolling around in bed, she suddenly realizes what she's supposed to do today and sits up in the bed immediately, she looks over at the clock quickly. It reads 11:42 AM. Looks like she has to hurry. Or she could just.
"Oh my god... let me call Double D." Marie thought to herself as she made her way across the bed to her charging phone. She unplugs it and picks it up.
"Urrgghhhh... let's just text him instead." Marie thought, she felt like she's too fresh awake to make any coherent sentences.
Double D, vacuuming around his room when he hears his phone message notification. He turns off the vacuum cleaner, then goes over to pick it up as he reads a text from a contact he saved as "Marie Kanker".
"hi edd sorry i just woke up i will be at ur house in an hour or so thanks" from Marie, 11:43.
"Salutations Marie. Of course, no problem, take your time." typed Edd. 11:43.
"ok thanks ill see u soon" from Marie. 11:43.
Marie sighed as she stretched her back, arms, and legs. She stood up and walked over to her towel.
Edd continued vacuuming his room. After finishing, he cleared out the dirtbag. Setting aside his vacuum cleaner. He passes the time by observing his ants, doing random things on his laptop, or read some books.
Marie, finishing her shower, she goes up to her room to put on a nice look that she think would look nice on her. It is 10 degrees Celsius out, or 50 degrees Fahrenheit for Americans. She wears something that balances comfort and her fashion. Pantyhose with black shorts, paired with a short-sleeved black and white argyle sweater, shows a bit of her belly button, ending with black sneakers for shoes.
Marie brushes her hair while sitting on the bed as she holds up a handheld mirror.
May enters the room.
"You going out now?" asked May, walking over.
"Yep. What do you want?" said Marie as she continues to brush her hair.
"Nothin'." said May as she sits down on the bed next to Marie.
Silence for a bit.
"How long have you spent makin' yourself look good for Double D?" asked May.
"I'm not trying to look good for Double D. I'm trying to look good for me." said Marie.
"How long?" insisted May.
"I don't know? Like 20 minutes, or something." said Marie.
Silence for a few minutes.
"Your hair is pretty smooth, for you Marie." said May.
"I've been brushing it for a bit." said Marie.
Marie then messes up her hair in a specific way that makes it look good.
"Cool." said May.
May has seen this happen for her entire life. Marie brushes her hair for a while, making it really straight and smooth, then she messes it with her hands to make it look messy but in a good way. May has tried it once but she can't pull off a messy hair look, her hair is just really really straight.
"Stop starin'." said Marie, as she looked at her hair in the handheld mirror.
"Marie." said May, looking at her.
"What?" said Marie. Putting the mirror on the bed.
"Maybe I want something." said May.
"What do you want?" said Marie. Looking at May.
"I was thinking.." said May.
Silence.
"May, continue." said Marie.
"Jeez, I'm trying to build suspense." said May.
"Get to the damn point!" said Marie.
"Okay, so. I want to know what Ed thinks about me.." said May.
"Huh. So you want me to ask Double D what Ed thinks of you?" said Marie.
"Yeah, I was gonna ask you exactly that." said May.
"Did you say you know he's never ever gonna be into you?" said Marie.
"I thought about it and I'm not too sure." said May.
"Think you're pretty enough for him to like you still?" said Marie.
"Maybe." said May.
"Why don't you ask him yourself?" said Marie.
"Ask Double D?" said May, confused.
"No, dumbass! Ask Ed himself!" said Marie.
"No." said May, with no hesitation, crossing her arms together.
"What? Come on you can do it!" said Marie.
"No. Too shy. You ask Double D for me." said May.
"Uhm, no." said Marie.
"Then no clean clothes." said May.
"Really?" said Marie.
"Mhm hm." exclaimed May.
Marie points her finger at May, rocking it up and down as she clenches it into a fist.
"Fine." said Marie, putting her hands down.
"Great! Thank you Marie. You are the best sister ever." said May as she clapped her hands and stood up.
"Whatever." said Marie as she stood up and picked up her bag and walked out of the room.
Marie went downstairs as she exited the trailer with May following her, May waved at Marie goodbye.
"Don't forget!" yelled May.
Marie walks out of the trailer park to the makeshift bridge over the creek the community made years ago. Amazing how it has not fallen yet.
Marie makes her way along the lane as someone bikes past her.
"Yo, excuse me, Marie." shouted the dude before passing her.
Marie stepped aside as he biked quickly past her. She makes that figure out to be Kevin. Iconic hat. And bike.
Marie continues walking along to Edd's house, she remembers where it is and what it looks like even after all these years. Upon reaching the sidewalk of the cul-de-sac, Marie crosses the road as she goes up to Edd's house. She notices Kevin riding along the sidewalk.
Marie knocks on the door to Edd's house. Oh, wait. He has a doorbell. Marie then rings the doorbell also.
Edd opens the door.
"Greetings, Marie." says Edd with a smile on his face.
Edd, in standing in front of the door to his house, is seen wearing his usual beanie, and white shirt over a black long-sleeved shirt and black pants, on his feet were white socks and orange house slippers.
"Hi, Edd. Nice clothes." said Marie, waving at Edd. Pointing at his shirt in the second part of her dialogue.
"Thanks, Marie. Welcome to my humble abode, you can enter." said Edd as he stepped away from the door letting Marie walk in.
Marie steps in as she looks around in Edd's house.
"Wow." said Marie, taking in details of his house.
Marie thinks the house looks mostly the same to the last time she was here, which was around 5-4 years ago. No point bringing it up though, creepy.
"Have you eaten yet Marie?" said Edd, looking at Marie, holding his hands in front of him.
"No, actually, I tried to get here as fast as I could have." said Marie, looking back at Edd.
"You shouldn't have. I'm in no hurry. Let's get something to eat, Marie. Food is important for thinking right. And we are about to work together." said Edd.
"Eat where?" asked Marie.
"I have some stuff in the kitchen. Follow me." said Edd as he walks over to his kitchen.
Marie followed Edd into the kitchen. Not a single dirty dish in the sink, and the tables and the counters were squeaky clean, the same couldn't be said for her trailer's kitchen. Also a bunch of post-it notes from his parents.
"Have a seat." said Edd as he checked around his kitchen cabinets and drawers.
Marie sat down on a bar chair, putting her bag on the wooden kitchen table. Marie then notices a post-it note on the table, curious, she peels it off the table and reads it.
"Edd, which one of your parents is a doctor?" asked Marie, trying to read the handwriting.
"Hm? Both of them. How did you know?" asked Edd, as he turned back to Marie, seeing the post-it note in Marie's hand.
"What does this say?" asked Marie as she showed him the paper.
"Allow me." said Edd as he walked over to Marie, opposite of him on the kitchen table.
"Wait wait, actually, let me try to read it myself." said Marie as she raised her hand in front of Edd.
"If you would like." said Edd as he watched Marie trying to read it.
"Uhh.. cleun.. clean. I don't know. What's this? Atter, after. Fueling off post-it.. notes. From.. the table." said Marie.
"Good job, Marie. I'll tell you what it actually says." said Edd as he gently took the post-it note from Marie.
"Uh-huh." said Marie, looking at Edd.
"Clean away adhesive after peeling of post-it note from the table." Edd read.
"Oh. Here, wait." said Marie as he takes the post-it note from Edd.
"To me it says.. "cleun auay ahire.." How do you spell adhesive to make it look like ahire? "atter pueling off post-it nute f-nom the table." that's what it looks like to the normal eye." said Marie, reading it as she sees it.
"You wanna know how I managed to read it?" said Edd. Smiling.
"Sure, how?" said Marie. Looking at Edd.
"I didn't. I guessed, but then I just inquired my mother what she wrote, because you can't be sure. I of course got it incorrect. She writes messages on a post-it note and puts it at a different place for each different request. I memorize them." said Edd.
"Of course, haha." said Marie, laughing.
Edd walks over to the sink as he grabs a rag and puts soap and turned the water on it. He begins to wipe the wooden table.
"Wasn't it just that single post-it note on the table?" asked Marie.
"Yes, why?" said Edd.
"Post-it note telling you to clean what it left. When you don't even need it in the first place, that's pretty funny." said Marie.
"I'm sure mother has a reason to do this. I never questioned it." said Edd as he wiped the table clean.
Marie lightly chuckled.
Edd dried the table with a different rag. He then put the rag back where it was, turning back to look at Marie.
"Well, Marie, back on track. Would you care for a sandwich?" asked Edd.
"Okay." said Marie.
"What type of bread would you prefer?" asked Edd as he searches through his cabinet.
"Whatever you want." said Marie, she tried naming as many bread types as she could and could only come up with white, whole wheat, and.. baguette. That's pretty good when you only have a few second or so to think.
"Okay. What items do you want on your sandwich?" asked Edd, searching through his fridge.
"Just give me whatever you want, damn. Feels like I got a private chef, haha." said Marie, laughing lightly at the end.
"Alright, hold on." said Edd as he began pulling stuff out of the fridge and some from the cabinets.
Marie watches, it is kind of relaxing to watch a guy do something with such efficiency. He looks like he enjoys it too.
After a little under a minute, Edd turned back and placed the plate of sandwich in front of Marie.
"Woah.. Looks great." Marie said as she moved her hand, about to pick up the sandwich.
"Thank you. It's whole wheat bread, rotisserie chicken, low-fat cheese, lettuce, tomato, carrots and lastly, I put some mayo on it." said Edd as he went back to wash his hands.
"That sounds healthy." said Marie, then she began biting into it.
"It is." said Edd, drying his hands with a tissue.
Marie covers her mouth as Edd turns back to face her.
"Is it good?" asked Edd as he leaned on the table.
Marie nodded her head yes, this is pretty good. It's not super delicious mind-blown type stuff but it is good.
"I'm glad you enjoy it." said Edd as he smiled and stretched his back.
Marie and Edd chitchatted for a bit until Marie finished the sandwich Edd made for her. Only then had they discussed plans for their work.
"Well, I think you would know how to decorate our assignment." said Edd, sitting on a chair next to Marie.
"Why do you think that?" asked Marie, tilting her head over. Still sitting on a chair.
"I was given the impression that you're an artistic creative individual." said Edd.
"Really? Tell me how." asked Marie, curious.
"I suppose it's the way you express yourself and how you told me you play the drums." said Edd.
"Express myself how?" asked Marie, digging deeper, her smile getting wider every time he spoke
"Your bag. Your hair." said Edd, pointing at her bag and then her hair.
"Hm." exclaimed Marie with a smile on her face.
Silence went on for a few seconds.
"You're right. I have an idea for what we should put on it." said Marie.
"Go on." said Edd as he rested his elbow on the kitchen table and leaned against it.
"We could draw on a paper with a different texture to the one our A4 paper has. Cut what we drew out and then glue them to our main paper. Like I said, you draw flasks and DNAs or something, your interests, then I draw mine!" said Marie.
"I can picture it.. Alright, let's do that. Amazing idea, Marie." said Edd.
"You don't have any other ideas other than mine?" asked Marie.
"I do, I decide on your idea however. Simpler and more marriage-y than mine." said Edd.
"Hehe, okay." said Marie, giggling.
"Decoration part is done. No need to worry about that as of now. Expanding on our conversation earlier on Thursday. The list, as I remember it, we need to discuss how many children, what kind of house, our chore duties, and how we will spend our time together. We skipped those parts and went to talk about the design and layout, we have the heading, and we have the main topics written down. Let's discuss the answer to the questions Mr. Carter requires us to answer." said Edd, listing off what they need, counting them on his left hand.
"Okay." said Marie as she straightened her back.
CHAPTER 5 END
