In the Student Council Room
"How can you still be playing video games when you have this problem," said Miko as she was yelling at Ishigami after he failed a test. "It`s not a big deal, it`s only a test, it`s not like it's the midterms or finals just yet" Ishigami replied as he continued to play on his switch. "The problem is you`re setting a bad example as a member of the Student Council, our midterms are in a few days, maybe if you didn't spend half the time gawking over Tsubame-senpai. you`d have better grades!" Miko shouted. "What was that?" Ishigami said back to which the door opened.
"What seems to be the ruckus?" said Kaguya as she entered the door, "Ishigami failed a test and still wants to play video games" Miko explained to which Ishigami covered her mouth, "Ahh, she`s just talking crazy," Ishigami said as he tried to keep her from talking as he knew if Kaguya found out, he would be put through hellish training, "Oh is that so?" Kaguya replied as her expression changed.
"Crap, I`m dead," Ishigami thought as he knew what came next, "Miko since you`re complaining about Ishigami not doing well, why don`t you tutor him?" Kaguya proposed much to the shock of both of them, "What?!" said Ishigami and Miko in disbelief, "You two are classmates right? That means you should be helping each other out" Kaguya pointed out to which Miko sighed. "I guess I have no choice, Ishigami I`ll be tutoring you, be grateful," said Miko to which Ishigami groaned as he knew that no wasn`t an option as it was Kaguya`s suggestion.
After School
"Ishigami, let`s go," said Miko as the final bell rang. "Yeah yeah, so where are we going" said Ishigami as they walked out of the classroom. "We`re going to my place," said Miko, which Ishigami froze. "Wait, your place? I thought we going to study at either the Student Council room or a cafe" said Ishigami. "Well, the Student Council room is closed due to finals and a cafe would distract us" Miko replied. "This had to be Shinomiya-senpai`s doing, the Student Council room is never closed during the test periods," Ishigami thought as they left the school gate.
Miko`s Place
"Here we are," said Miko as she opened the door to her place. "I assume no one is here," Ishigami said as he walked in. "My parents are away as usual, put your stuff over there" Miko instructed to which Ishigami made himself comfortable. "There`s the bookshelf and the famous teddy bear," Ishigami thought as he leaned back on the teddy bear much to Miko`s chagrin.
"How`s your arm?" Ishigami asked as they were doing practice problems. "It`s getting better, the doctor said I can get rid of the cast in a few days," said Miko as she wrote something. "I`ll be right back, gonna get some refreshments," said Miko as she started to get up. "Wait, I`ll get the drinks, your arm isn`t 100 percent, what do you want from the fridge?" Ishigami asked. "Some tea," said Miko. "Alright then," said Ishigami as he walked to the fridge. "I`m starting to realize it`s much nicer to have someone with you at home," Miko thought as she was secretly more jovial with another person around her.
"How did you get such a low score on this test? We aren`t even in difficult parts yet" Miko asked as she looked through Ishigami`s test results. "Cut me some slack, I`m not good at history," said Ishigami. "Guess we`ll have to go over everything, please take notes this time," said Miko as she explained the lesson once again.
A while later
"We`ve been going over this for almost an hour, I still don`t get this" Ishigami thought as despite Miko`s best efforts, Ishigami still didn`t understand the material. "All right, why don`t we take a break," Miko said as she got up. "Yeah I could use one," Ishigami said as he leaned back on the teddy bear and took out his Switch. "Hey when I said take a break, I didn`t mean play video games," Miko said. "Alright fine," said Ishigami as he reluctantly put his Switch away.
"Let`s order some pizza then since we`re on break," said Miko. "Yeah, that`d be great," said Ishigami to which Miko got up and got a menu. "What pizza do you want?" Miko asked. "Oh uh I`ll take a pepperoni and sausage pizza," said Ishigami as he. "Okay one pepperoni pizza and a seafood pizza," said Miko. "Hold on, two pies? Isn`t that a bit too much?" Ishigami asked. "No, I need one pie for myself" Miko replied. "Okay, if you say so," said Ishigami as Miko grabbed her phone to place the order.
"Thank you," said Ishigami as he took the pizza from the delivery driver and walked back. "You sure I don`t need to pay you back?" Ishigami asked as he handed the black card back to Miko. "It`s fine, food tastes better when you`re eating with someone," said Miko. "Guess I`m not opposed to it, I`m hungry," said Ishigami as he helped himself to a slice of pizza. "I could use a break," said Miko as she put 4 slices on her plate. "Geez, I forgot this girl has an appetite that could rival two grown men," Ishigami thought as he ate his pizza.
"I`m stuffed," said Ishigami as he laid back on the couch as they had finished their dinner. "Hey, you shouldn`t lie down after eating, it`s not good for you, go throw the pizza boxes out," said Miko as she put the leftover pizza into some containers. "Sure," said Ishigami as he got up and helped clean up.
"Say, why don`t you want to get better grades?" Miko asked as Ishigami threw out the pizza boxes. "Don`t know, academics aren`t my thing" said Ishigami as he came back "You`re a Student Council member, what example are we setting if one of our members has poor grades, don`t you care what people think about you?" said Miko. "I`ve been an outcast for most of my life, what people think about me does not affect me," Ishigami said bluntly.
"Guess I have no choice," Miko thought as she was getting Ishigami to study harder. "If you get better grades, maybe Tsubame-senpai will respect you more," said Miko. "How so?" Ishigami asked. "Well, if you show that you`re smart, that`ll give Tsubame-senpai more of a reason to like you, think about it, a caring and righteous person who`s also book smart, any girl would want someone like that" Miko explained. "Alright, let`s keep going then, maybe you`re right," said Ishigami as he regained some motivation. "If that`s all it took, I should have said that earlier" Miko thought as they resumed their study session.
10 pm
"Where are you going?" Miko asked as she grabbed Ishigami`s arm. "What does it look like? I`m going home" Ishigami replied. "You`re coming back tomorrow right? We`re going to keep studying" Miko asked. "What? I never said I`d do that" said Ishigami. "I see, I`ll just have to tell Shinomiya-senpai that you`re not studying," said Miko which sent a shiver down Ishigami. "Okay fine, I`ll come over until the midterms, but that`s it," said Ishigami as he had faced Kaguya`s wrath one too many times. "Good, see you tomorrow then," said Miko as Ishigami got his stuff and left.
"Why is Miko going through all this trouble? Her arm is still a mess" Ishigami thought as he was on the train. "Wait a second, why would an injured person help another person out, could it be that she`s better? That could be true, but I don`t have proof, I should pay attention to how she acts in the coming days" Ishigami thought as it seemed strange that Miko was okay with helping her sworn enemy study for midterms despite having a handicap.
The Next Day
"Here`s your drink," said Ishigami as he came back with a can. "I need to go back to the Student Council room, need anything else?" Ishigami asked. "I`m good for now" said Miko to which Ishigami walked out of the classroom. "Whew, he`s gone," said Miko as she took a sip of her drink. "Wait your arm, you can actually move it?" said Kobachi as Miko picked up the drink with her injured arm. "Oh uh yeah," said Miko. "How long ago has this been going on?" Kobachi asked. "The doctor cleared me a few days ago" Miko replied to which Kobachi and Rei sighed.
"But why would you lie to Ishigami about it?" Rei asked. "It`s just that it`s been nice having Ishigami around even if it means having to lie," said Miko with a mischievous grin. "You know that`s not right, if he finds out, he`s not going to be pleased and I wouldn`t blame him for it," said Rei. "I`ll tell him my arm is all better after the midterms," said Miko. "Just make sure you don`t create a web of lies," said Kobachi. "I`ll be fine," said Miko as she put her cast back on just before Ishigami came back to the classroom.
Back at Miko`s Place
"Alright, things are a bit better, though that`s not saying a lot," said Miko as she looked through Ishigami's mock test results. "Cut me some slack I`m trying," said Ishigami as he laid back. "Alright, study these notes and we`ll have another mock test in a few hours," said Miko as she handed Ishigami a notebook. "where did you find the time to get all of this?" Ishigami asked as he looked in the notebook. "Don`t worry about it, just study" said Miko to which Ishigami reluctantly obliged.
"Say, there`s something I`ve been meaning to ask you," said Miko. "What is it?" Ishigami asked as he took a sip of his cola. "What`s your ideal girlfriend?" Miko asked to which Ishigami did a spittake. "Huh? Where did that come from?" Ishigami asked. "I`m just curious, you like Tsubame-senpai, there must be a reason you like an older girl," said Miko. "Tsubame is a nice and sweet girl, she`s a madonna, but without the drama queen tendencies," said Ishigami.
"I see, you like nice girls then since they seem easy to you" Miko deduced. "Wait, why do you care? You`ve never cared about my romance life" Ishigami asked. "Just curious is all," said Miko as she went back to studying. "Yet, somehow I don`t believe your reasoning, I`m gonna use the bathroom," said Ishigami as he got up to use the bathroom.
"Why did Miko ask me that? I swear that girl has the strangest imagination sometimes" Ishigami thought as he walked out of the bathroom. "Wait, what`s she doing?" Ishigami thought as he noticed Miko was writing notes with her injured arm. 'I know she`s been working hard, but she doesn`t need to work that hard for my sake" Ishigami thought as he did have some respect for Miko`s work ethic.
"Oh, you`re back," said Miko as Ishigami walked back into the living room. "Yeah, you were writing notes?" said Ishigami. "Yeah, you need to study these while I`m not tutoring you, the midterms are in two days," said Miko as she handed Ishigami some papers.
"Isn`t it too much of a bother to write notes with one working arm?" Ishigami asked as he looked at the papers Miko gave him. "A little pain never hurt anyone, I`ll make sure you pass the midterms even if I have one working arm" Miko proclaimed. "Just make sure you can take the midterms otherwise this will be more of a detriment to you than me," said Ishigami as he sat down and tried to study some of the notes.
9:45 pm
"It`s late, I`m going to head out," said Ishigami as he grabbed his things. "Alright, keep studying the material that I`ve prepared for you and you`ll be fine, you only have to put up with it for 2 more days and you`ll be free," said Miko. "Yeah, see you tomorrow then," said Ishigami as he walked out of Miko`s place.
"I knew it, so she was better, it`s always the quiet ones that are the most sneaky," Ishigami thought as his suspicions were confirmed that Miko was indeed lying about her injured arm. "She`s lucky that I don`t want to say anything since she`s been working so hard, but after the midterms are over, I`m going to pry into that matter," said Ishigami as he was still surprised Miko would use her injury for her benefit.
Day of the test
"Man, Iino has been putting me through overdrive," Ishigami thought as he sat at his desk waiting for the test to begin. "Alright class, put everything away, the midterms are about to start," said the teacher. "Let`s hope this is enough," said Miko as she passed the test back to Ishigami. "Let`s hope so," said Ishigami as the midterm exams were underway.
A few days later
"Well I managed to do a bit better," said Ishigami as they looked at the results posted at the front of the school building. "Yeah, it`s a big improvement, I guess Miko did a good job as your tutor," said Kaguya as she looked at the scores. "Or maybe I decided to try for once" Ishigami replied. "You were saying something?" said Miko as she walked up to them. "Nothing, I assume you already know your results?" Ishigami asked. "Of course, I would never let anyone in our year beat me not like anyone else can, speaking of, you`re finally in the middle of the pack, good job," said Miko. "Thanks, I guess," Ishigami said back as he was thankful for Miko, but reluctant to admit it.
"Oh hey Tsubame," said Ishigami as Tsubame approached them. "Oh hi Yu, how`d you do on the midterm?" Tsubame asked. "I did alright, middle of the pack, what about you?" said Ishigami. "I finished in the top 30, you seem happy with your result, that shows that you`ve been working hard," said Tsubame. "Oh uh thank you," said Ishigami as Miko gave a smug grin. Yeah, you only get better results thanks to me," Miko thought. "I gotta get back to my classroom, see you around," said Tsubame as she walked away. "We should head back to the Student Council room," said Miko. "Yeah, let`s go then," said Ishigami.
"By the way, there`s something that needs to be addressed," said Ishigami as they walked to the Student Council room. "What is it?" said Miko. "I know that you`ve been lying about your arm," said Ishigami to which Miko froze. "What are you talking about?" Miko asked to which Ishigami sighed. "There`s no use in hiding the truth, was this all a ploy to keep me around?" said Ishigami. "What gave it away?" Miko asked as the cat was out of the bag. "I saw you working hard to prepare notes for me during our study session, a person with one arm doesn`t write this many notes in a short time," said Ishigami as Miko had prepared a lot of study material for Ishigami. "I see..." said Miko.
"Still, why would you lie about something like that? It`s not like you," said Ishigami to which Miko stopped in her tracks. "Tsubame, Tsubame, why are your eyes always on Tsubame? I want you to pay attention to me," said Miko. "Huh?" Ishigami said as he was taken aback by Miko`s statement.
