Chapter 1: Kidnapped and Afraid

Currently, I was sitting in a burial vault, feeling trapped and scared. I just found out how insane these people are. Claiming that they are witches and what not. It's so bizarre. One moment, I'm hanging out in a bar and the next I'm being kidnapped by these so called witches. I sigh as I sit on the ground as far from these "witches" as possible. I felt crowded and alone, fear gripping me before I heard the leader of these psychos yell out from outside, "Bring her out!"

I let out a yelp as a man grabs my elbow and the other man grabs the other, dragging me up and outside as I try to keep up. I walk, looking down before I look up when they stop and freeze upon seeing a handsome man in a suit. The men let me go as I stood in front of the man, keeping my eyes to the ground as I hug myself. "What's going on?!" I said, finally having the courage to look up at the man and that wretched woman who helped take me.

"Give us a moment, please."

The man, Elijah and I are back inside a burial vault, lit by numerous candles on the walls around us. I was hugging myself again as I sat with my knees up to my chest, feeling nervous. "So, have they been holding you here against your will?" He asks, watching me as he stood and I shrugged my shoulders.

"They just... took me and told me that I'm the key to freeing the witches from vampires." I pause, my eyebrows furrowing as I'm so confused. "Which is bizarre because that's just fantasy stuff. Monsters like that aren't real." He smiles briefly for a moment, looking down at the ground and sighs.

"I can see why you would think so, but as a vampire... I can prove it to you more easily than these witches," He says and I look up at him, freezing for a moment. Then, I slowly nod my head and let out a yelp as suddenly he is in front of me and his eyes turn red for a brief moment. I let out a shocked gasp before taking a deep breath. Okay... Vampires and hybrids and witches are real. What else is real that we've been taught is a fairytale for children?

"I'm sorry if I scared you, but you must know if you're going to be in our world," He says and I slowly nodded my head. I ended up hugging my knees tighter before he continues, explaining that his family and him are the first vampires and hybrid since a thousand years ago due to their witch mother and evil father. He goes on to explain and talk about his family's history and how his half-brother, Klaus, was born a werewolf and that's how he became to be a hybrid later on. I didn't understand why he was keen on explaining to me about everything, but I was shocked by everything happening as he sat next to me.

"But..." I finally say, my voice soft as I open up a little to the very old vampire. "Why are you telling me all of this?" I say, looking over at him with curious green stormy eyes.

"Because... apparently you're my... very important," He says and my eyebrows furrow. He looked like he was holding something back, something important. I didn't know if I should be worried that I'm okay not knowing or furious.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I said, lifting up my glasses to eye him. Then, the witch, Sophie comes in and says, "I'm glad you feel that way, because we need your help."

Elijah looks over at me before glaring at the witch and saying, "What, precisely, is it that you want and what does it have to do with this young woman?"

Sophie nods her head and says, "We want to run Marcel and his vampires out of town. Klaus is the key. Everything Marcel knows about being a vampire, he learned from Klaus. Marcel trusts him, looks up to him, and he won't see the betrayal coming."

Elijah sighs and nods his head before saying, "Yes, well, as I'm sure you're aware, my brother Niklaus doesn't like to be told what to do."

Sophie nods her head and says, "That's why I brought you here. Marcel drove the werewolves out of town decades ago. Do you really think he's going to welcome a hybrid baby and an original's mate to the neighborhood? Convince Klaus to help us, and no one has to know about the newest members of the Original family."

"What?" I said, eyebrows furrowed as I know I'm definitely not pregnant by Klaus. Wait... Original's mate? I'm so confused.

"That sounds remarkably like blackmail," Elijah says and avoids looking my way. No... Are soulmate's real?

"Like I said, I'm desperate."

"Well, then, I have my work cut out for me, don't I?"

Some time later, a beautiful woman was lead in with a few more witches and looked at me with furrowed eyebrows. "Who are you?"

"I'm Rose... Who are you?" I said, before I heard some commotion near us of doors shutting and opening. She looks behind to the door nearby and sighs as she goes and sits down next to me.

"I'm Hayley..." She says, offering her hand and I shake her hand. She smiles awkwardly as she hugs herself, looking off as my eyebrows furrow at her. "Are you okay?" I ask.

"Well, my life and this... baby's life is on the line and the father wants nothing but us dead so..." She says and my eyes widen at her.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry..." I said, biting my bottom lip as I rest my hand on top of her's making her give me a brief smile. "Thanks," She says and I nod my head, hoping that she'll be okay and that the father of her baby will know his mistake and help her as I had no idea how to help her besides this.

The witches are in the mausoleum, talking, as I sit with Hayley on the bench far away from them. I didn't know why I was here. Why they bothered with me when she was the pregnant one with the hybrid's baby, but I didn't want to leave Hayley alone to suffer with these assholes either. I'm just completely confused on why I'm here. I'm just a normal human. I've been normal since I left home at eighteen to be away from my strict parents and take a break from family. Now it seems I'm... something special. I just don't know what.

"Marcel and his vampires are out of control. Something had to be done," Sophie said, ignoring my glare.

"And the solution is to bring in more vampires?" Another witch said, looking over at Hayley and I for a moment.

"These aren't just any vampires, Agnes. They're the Originals."

"What makes you think you can control the hybrid?" She replies back, narrowing her eyes at the younger witch.

Suddenly Elijah appears, leaning on the wall. I jump upon seeing him as he looks at me for a moment, scanning before he looks over at Hayley. "She can't. I'm not entirely certain that I can, either. But now that your coven has drawn his ire, I have a question: What prevents my brother from murdering you instead of cooperating? Same with me?" He asks.

Sophie nods her head and grabs a needle showing it to him and us. I stand up with Hayley and look over at him to flinch with Hayley as it feels like I've been stabbed in the hand. I look down to see that I indeed was and look over to see Hayley was as well, the same spot as Sophie. My eyes widen before Elijah's vampire veins appear as he glares daggers at Sophie.

"What the hell!?" Hayley says, holding her hand before looking at me.

Sophie smirks, like she's proud and says, "The spell my sister performed, the one that got her killed? It didn't just confirm the pregnancy or that she's your soulmate. It linked me to them both. So anything that happens to me, happens to them, which means their life is in my hands. Klaus may not care about his own child or her, but it's very clear what it already means to you. If I have to hurt them – or worse – to ensure that I have your attention, I will."

Elijah looks slightly amused as he says, "You would dare threaten an Original?"

Sophie just shrugs and says, "I have nothing to lose."

The grin disappears from Elijah's face as I look over at Hayley, who's holding her stomach.

"You have until midnight to get Klaus to change his mind."

The witches are still in the mausoleum. The church clock starts tolling and I feel fear overtake me as I look over at Hayley, who also looks scared too. The older witch says, "His time is up. What're you gonna do now, Sophie?"

Sophie nods her head and sighs, saying, "I'm gonna do what I said was gonna do."

Another witch says, "What, kill the girls? Kill yourself?" Making me hope that they don't actually go through with this

The older witch shrugs and says, "Klaus does not care about the child or the other girl."

Elijah suddenly appears and I sigh in relief for a moment before seeing he's holding a dead body in a blanket. "I do though. And I bring proof of my intent to help you: the body of your fallen friend, which I procured from Marcel himself."

"Jane-Anne."

Elijah nods his head and says, "May she be granted peace. Klaus will agree to your terms. I just need a little more time."

The older witch glares at him before saying, "You had your time. It's passed."

The other witch snaps and says, "Shut up, Agnes."

"For now, accept the deal. The girls and the child remain unharmed, or Klaus will kill you all." He walks away, but then turns around again. "And I will help him."

I don't know how or why, but Klaus, who I met, and his brother took Hayley and I away from the witches and struck up a deal. I still haven't had an idea why I was brought with them to this giant white house. I was currently in a room with Hayley keeping my thoughts to myself, but also not focusing on what Hayley was trying to say until I heard her calling my name. I jump as I look up at her, my eyes wide. "Are you okay?" She asks.

"Uh... yeah, sorry," I say, shaking my head despite the feeling of lost. Hayley nods her head and takes off a cover before coughing due to the dust. Elijah walks in and sees us coughing and asks, "Are you alright?"

"It's just dust," I replied, avoiding looking at the ancient vampire.

"Yeah, this place is ancient," Hayley says, looking over at me curiously.

"Yes, it should serve our purposes. It's a sanctuary from our business in the Quarter. Right now, you two are the most important person in this family. You both need a good home," He says and my eyebrows furrow, still wondering why I'm important in all this.

"I get her being important, but... why me?" I finally ask, looking over at the original who finally looked up at me with a... I don't even know.

"I'll tell you soon, but for now let's get you both settled in. But I am curious, Hayley... in all this time, has anyone asked you how you feel?" He asked, seemingly brushing off my question and making me frustrated. I just want one straight answer. That's all. I've been stabbed by a needle, kidnapped, and binded to a suicidal witch who could give a shit about me. Now I can't get one single answer from him. I ignore the looks I got as I stormed out of the room upon hearing Hayley mention her miracle baby.

I didn't even acknowledge the hybrid, Klaus, as I walked past him. I had tears in my eyes as I walked in my room, slamming the door shut.
