"Let's just get the hell out of here." Vegeta angrily mumbled. He turned back towards the Time Machine and started pressing buttons again. He didn't care which one did what, he just wanted the door to open.
But instead, sparks flew. And then it started to smoke. "Oh no!" Bulma cried out once she noticed what was happening. "You're breaking it, Vegeta! Stop touching-"
He pushed her away, "DON'T INTERFERE!"
"BUT YOU'RE BREAKING MY INVENTION!"
"IT WAS ALREADY BROKEN!"
"NO IT WASN'T!"
A tiny explosion caused them both to jump away nearly at the same time. Now it was broken. Great! Just great! Bulma thought to herself as she stared at Vegeta with a look of pure anger on her face. How could he break it?!
He kicked the machine. "Worthless piece of junk." He said. "Now we're stuck here. Where the hell are we? Doesn't it say?"
Bulma moved back towards the machine and took a quick glance at the clock. She cocked an eyebrow as she read the exact time and date that they had traveled to, but it couldn't have been right. This didn't look like the same earth they were on just minutes ago. "It says..." she trailed off unsurely.
"What?" Vegeta pressed. "What does it say?"
"It says..."
"DAMN IT, WOMAN! Just say it already! You're wasting my time!"
"It says we're still here."
"What does that mean, we're still here? That is impossible! Your machine must be a fluke!"
"Well that's what it says, right here!" She pointed at the clock. "If you don't believe me then just see for yourself!"
Vegeta bumped into her harshly to see what she was seeing. She crossed her arms over her chest and glared. "You know, I'm getting real sick of you pushing me around. If you push me one more time then I'm going to knock you out!"
He scoffed. "Please, don't make me laugh. You couldn't hurt a fly."
"Yes I could! Care to find out?" She threatened, but Vegeta remained unfazed. Of course she couldn't physically hurt him, not when he was a billion times stronger than she was, but she wasn't afraid of him anymore. They argued so many times that by now she would've been dead already, and yet she was still alive.
"Yeah maybe later. I'd prefer to leave this wasteland first though, if you don't mind." Why was he so arrogant? It could almost pass as him being "nice", but she didn't think being nice was at all feasible for Vegeta to do. He had no heart.
"Well if this thing says we're still in the present then all we have to do is walk away and go home." Bulma replied while still looking around. "It just doesn't look like home..."
"Probably because it isn't!" He snapped. "This is clearly some form of the present, just not the one we are used to."
She sighed. "I guess there's only one way to find out."
Vegeta took off into the air almost immediately, leaving Bulma behind. "HEY!" She screamed, "WHAT ABOUT ME?!"
Vegeta rolled his eyes as he dipped back down to the surface, scooped her up, and let her dangle over his forearm as he flew them to civilization. Unfortunately he couldn't fly any faster or else Bulma's skin would fly off, so their journey took a little extra time.
Eventually they found a town, and it looked similar to West City. Despite the desolate area they were in before, everything over here looked more like the time period they were used to. Maybe we really didn't travel in time...maybe we just landed in a different spot.
"There! Down there!" Bulma pointed as she pointed to a place that looked like Capsule Corp. Vegeta obliged, and once they set foot on the ground Bulma went running inside. "Dad! Mom!" She called out, but no answer. Hm, maybe they went somewhere.
Vegeta followed her inside soon after, and he looked around. "I don't sense anyone here." He concluded.
"Duh, it's because they went out somewhere." She giggled. "Oh well, at least we're home!"
"I wouldn't be too sure about that." Vegeta sounded slightly uneasy for whatever reason.
Bulma turned her head, "Why do you say that?"
"See for yourself."
She followed his gaze until her eyes landed on a portrait hanging on the wall. Normally it wouldn't have caught her eye, but this particular portrait was too obscure not to notice.
There were three people in the picture: Bulma, Goku, and a kid who had her blue hair, but Goku's signature hairstyle.
